Abstract: The article discusses Florida's public records law in relation to debates in the state's legislature regarding an effort to limit attorneys' fees in public records cases as of 2017. The right to access public records is addressed, along with the Florida Legislature and issues involving government contractors law and fee-shifting provisions. Florida's courts are assessed, as well as public agencies, state legislative bills, and a 2016 attorneys' fees-related lawsuit.

A citizen's right to access state and local government records in Florida is examined, along with the state's open government laws, public records-related lawsuits, and exemptions to Florida's Public Records Act.
