According to Nicholas Kristof, JD Vance and Republicans claim that one of the major political parties in America is "anti-family and anti-kid," but it is actually the GOP members who should be ashamed. Congressional Republicans killed President Biden's refundable child tax credit, which had significantly reduced child poverty. Republican-controlled states also refused to expand Medicaid, resulting in higher death rates for children in those states. Additionally, lax gun laws supported by Republicans have made gun violence the leading cause of death for people under 19. Red states also have higher rates of high school dropout, divorce, and teenage pregnancy due to Republican opposition to sex education and easily accessible contraception. While Democrats should do more to support children and families, it is not surprising that the party led by a thrice-married tycoon who mistreats and belittles women fails them the most. The MAGA cult, despite its claims of family values, lacks self-awareness and shame. [Extracted from the article]
