Objective: Many factors affect breastfeeding rates. One of these factors is the mother's perception of insufficient milk. This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting lactating women's perceptions of having insufficient milk and the foods they used to increase the breast milk. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 356 women. The data were collected using the "sociodemographic information form", the "form for determining the foods used by women to increase breast milk", and "perceived insufficient milk supply (PIMS)" scale. One-way analysis of variance, the independent samples t-test, the Bonferroni test, and Pearson correlation analysis were applied in the evaluation of the data. Results: The mean PIMS score was 42.39±7.48, and 80.3% of the women perceived their milk to be sufficient. A significant relationship was found between the mean PIMS score of the participants and employment status (p<0.000), time of first breastfeeding (p<0.000), milk being produced immediately after birth (p<0.000), and having enough milk to meet the needs of the baby (p<0.000). It was found that women consumed it and found it beneficial for increasing breast milk by consuming herbs: 30.6% used fennel, 12.6% linden; beverages: 71.3% used water, 50.6% compote, and 28.7% soups; foods: 31.2% used bulgur wheat, 24.2% fruit. Conclusion: It was observed that most mothers perceived their milk supply as sufficient. It was determined that PIMS score was affected by working status, time of milk coming in after birth, and breastfeeding status immediately after birth. It was determined that mothers consumed the most fennel, linden, parsley, water, compote, soup, fruit juice, bulgur pilaf, fruit, raisins, green vegetables and molasses to increase their milk supply. Objective: To evaluate the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) and ganglion cell--inner plexiform layer thickness (GC--IPL) in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) by sector and quadrant. Materials and Methods: Seventy-eight eyes of 39 patients with MS and 82 eyes of 41 healthy participants were analyzed using spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Our study defined MS eyes with optic neuritis (ON) as MS ON eyes and those without ON as MS non-ON eyes. Comparisons of the GC-- IPL and pRNFL thicknesses were assessed and the measurements compared with healthy controls (HCs). Results: The comparison of the average and three quadrants (superior, inferior, and temporal) measurements of the pRNFL thickness and the average and six quadrant measurements of the GC--IPL thickness between the MS ON eyes and the MS non-ON eyes revealed statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The average and four quadrants thickness of pRNFL and the average and six quadrants thickness of GC--IPL were significantly reduced in a comparison of MS ON vs. HC with MS non-ON vs. HC eyes (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The evaluation of pRNFL and GC--IPL thicknesses in MS ON and MS non-ON eyes may be beneficial in determining the central nervous system axonal integrity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: In this study, we aimed to compare depression, anxiety and desperation levels between epileptic patients and healthy individuals. Materials and Methods: 34 patients and 34 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. Demographic features of all subjects were also recorded. Neurologic examination, electroencephalography (EEG) and cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of patients were evaluated. State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used for evaluation of anxiety, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) was used for evaluation of depression, and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) was used for evaluation of hopelessness. Results: The mean age of epileptic patients was 24.56 ± 8.49 years and of healthy subjects was 27.44 ± 5.66 years. Distribution of gender was the same in both groups, with 13 (38.2%) females and 21 (61.8%) males. There was no significant difference in demographic features between groups (p> 0.05). When continuous and instant anxiety levels of epileptic and healthy groups were compared, no significant difference was observed in instant anxiety levels (p> 0.05), but there was difference in continuous anxiety levels (p< 0.05) between the two groups. Hopelessness and depression levels were similar between groups (p< 0.05). Conclusion: The results of the study showed that depression, anxiety and hopelessness levels were higher in epileptic patients when compared to healthy people. In addition, we conclude that seizure control with less drug use will reduce the level of trait anxiety in patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Reflex epilepsy is a condition in which seizures can be triggered habitually by an external stimulus or, less commonly, by internal mental processes. Seizures triggered by visual stimuli are common in cases of reflex epilepsy; however, epileptic seizures induced by sexual orgasm and somatosensory stimuli are very rare in the literature. Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma is an uncommon cause of acute non-traumatic myelopathy and may present with various clinical phenotypes. It should be included in the differential diagnosis of the patients who have focal neurological findings suggestive of stroke. Therefore, a thorough documentation of patient history is of great importance, since this can reveal symptoms suggestive of a different etiology. Here, we present a case of a 80-year-old female who was admitted with hemiparesis without cortical or cranial neurological abnormalities. She described pre-existing shoulder and neck pain. Diagnosis of epidural hematoma was made by cervical magnetic resonance imaging. Symptoms resolved partially after surgical intervention. Our case illustrates the variation in the clinical presentations of spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma which can be misdiagnosed as stroke. Therefore, in patients with preceding neck, shoulder or interscapular pain and focal neurological deficits, this diagnosis should be included in the differential diagnosis, particularly in the absence of cortical and cranial symptoms. Creutzfeldc-Jacob's disease is a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disease characterized by the accumulation of abnormal prion-like proteins in the central nervous system. Clinical features, electroencephalography (EEG), magnetic brain resonance imaging (MRI) and protein 14.3-3 is used in diagnosis. Protein 14.3.3 may be negative in the early or late stages of the disease. Presentation with psychiatric symptoms and itching is not typical in the onset of the disease. Here we present a patient who was first admitted to the psychiatry clinic due to his psychiatric symptoms and had severe itching resistant to antihistamine treatment.
