Because of the high synthetic significance of organostannanes, much attention has been focused on the development of stannylation reactions endowed with high chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectivities. Three-component carboboration of alkenes takes place efficiently by the reaction with a diboron compound and carbon electrophiles with the aid of a copper-NHC catalyst. The article discusses developments in the modern synthetic organic chemistry and its use in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. According to Professor Hiroto Yoshida, fluorides is totally inert towards insertion reaction of arynes and the fluorostannylation products would be produced by the aryne insertion into an F–Sn bond of an in situ generated tin fluoride. Aryl fluorides used in drugs such as brequinar, diflunisal, flurbiprofen are also discussed.
