Abstract

The article discusses a study which examined the use of a harmonic scalpel during endoscopic diverticulectomy in an animal model. Topics discussed include the use of a soft diverticuloscope to enable the passage of the scalpel with endoscopic assistance, the treatment of Zenker's diverticulum via endoscopy, and comparison of hemostatic performance between the harmonic scalpel and bipolar or monopolar electrocoagulation.
