The article presents a comparative analysis of the theory of regulation (RT) and the social structure of accumulation theory (SSAT). Both RT and SSAT are in need of further development. Greater care in the application of the theory to history is needed. Furthermore, the definitions and concepts of the two schools should be clarified and used more carefully.
