Abstract: International audience; A substantial proportion of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma have to face up, sooner or later, to systemic therapy. The current standards as first line systemic therapies are either atezolizumab (anti-PD-L1) plus bevacizumab (anti-VEGF), or durvalumab (anti-PD-L1) plus tremelimumab (anti-CTLA-4). However, the median overall survival remains below 20 months, and a minority of patients become long-term survivors. Of interest in immune-oncology strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma, the objective response seems to be the most reliable surrogate marker of better overall survival. TRIPLET-HCC (NCT05665348) is a multicentre, randomised, open-label phase II-III trial designed to evaluate efficacy and safety of the triple combination by the addition of ipilimumab (anti-CTLA-4) to atezolizumab/bevacizumab, versus the double atezolizumab/bevacizumab combination. The main inclusion criteria are histologically proven BCLC-B/C HCC without previous systemic therapy. The primary objective of the phase II is the objective response rate in the triple arm, and OS in the triple versus double arms in the phase III. Secondary endpoints common to the phases II and III are the comparisons of progression-free survival, objective response rates, tolerance and quality of life. In addition, genetic and epigenetic studies from tissue and circulating DNA/RNA will be conducted to assess their prognostic or predictive value.

Abstract: International audience; Objective: It is unknown whether HCV-cured people with HIV (PWH) without cirrhosis reached the same mortality risk as HCV-uninfected PWH. We aimed to compare mortality in PWH cured of HCV by direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) to mortality in individuals with HIV monoinfection. Design: Nationwide hospital cohort. Methods: HIV-controlled participants without cirrhosis and HCV-cured by DAAs started between 09/2013 and 09/2020, were matched on age (±5 years), sex, HIV transmission group, AIDS status, and BMI (±1 kg/m 2) to up to ten participants with a virally suppressed HIV monoinfection followed at the time of HCV cure ± 6 months. Poisson regression models with robust variance estimates were used to compare mortality in both groups after adjusting for confounders. Results: The analysis included 3961 HCV-cured PWH (G1) and 33 872 HCV-uninfected PWH (G2). Median follow-up was 3.7 years in G1 (interquartile range (IQR): 2.0-4.6), and 3.3 years in G2. Median age was 52.0 years (IQR: 47.0–56.0), and 29 116 (77.0%) were men. There were 150 deaths in G1 (adjusted incidence rate (aIR): 12.2/1000 person-years) and 509 (aIR: 6.3/1000 person-years) in G2, with an incidence rate ratio (IRR): 1.9 [95%CI, 1.4–2.7]. The risk remained elevated 12 months post HCV cure (IRR: 2.4 [95%CI, 1.6–3.5]). Non-AIDS/nonliver-related malignancy was the most common cause of death in G1 (28 deaths).Conclusions: Despite HCV cure and HIV viral suppression, after controlling on factors related to mortality, DAA-cured PWH without cirrhosis remain at higher risk of all-cause mortality than people with HIV monoinfection. A better understanding of the determinants of mortality is needed in this population.

Abstract: International audience; Cloud computing is currently the most popular model to offer and access computational resources and services. Many cloud providers use the REST architectural style (Representational State Transfer) for offering such computational resources. However, these cloud providers face challenges when designing and exposing REST APIs that are easy to handle by end-users and/or developers. Yet, they benefit from best practices to help them design understandable and reusable REST APIs. However, these best practices are scattered in the literature and they have not be studied systematically on real-world APIs. Consequently, we propose two contributions. In our first contribution, we survey the literature and compile a catalog of 73 best practices in the design of REST APIs making APIs more understandable and reusable. In our secondcontribution, we perform a study of three different and well-known REST APIs from three cloud providers to investigate how their APIs are offered and accessed. These cloud providers are Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, and Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI). In particular, we evaluate the coverage of the features provided by the REST APIsof these cloud providers and their conformance with the best practices for REST APIs design. Our results show that Google Cloud follows 66% (48/73), OpenStack follows 62% (45/73), and OCCI 1.2 follows 56% (41/73) of the best practices. Second, although these numbers are not necessarily high, partly because of the strict and precise specification of best practices, we showed that cloud APIs reach an acceptable level of maturity.

Abstract: International audience; Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) is the only open standard for managing any kinds of cloud resources, e.g., Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service. However, no model-driven tooling exists to assist OCCI users in designing, editing, validating, generating, and managing OCCI artifacts (i.e., extensions that represent specific application domains and configurations that define the running systems). In this paper, we propose the first model-driven tool chain for OCCI called OCCIware Studio. This tool chain is based on a metamodel defining the static semantics for the OCCI standard in Ecore and OCL. OCCIware Studio provides OCCI users facilities for designing, editing, validating, generating, and managing OCCI artifacts. We detail the tooled process to define an OCCI extension. In addition, we show how the cloud user can leverage the generated tooling for this extension to create his own OCCI configurations and manage them in the cloud.We illustrate our paper with the OCCI infrastructure extension proposed to define OCCI-compliant compute, network, and storageresources.

Abstract: International audience; Multi-cloud computing has been proposed as a way to reduce vendor lock-in, to improve resiliency during outages and geo-presence, to boost performance and to lower costs. However, semantic differences between cloud providers, as well as their heterogeneous management interfaces, make changing from one provider to another very complex and costly. This is quite challenging for the implementation of multi-cloud systems. In this paper, we aim to take advantage of formal methods to define a precise semantics for multi-clouds. We propose fclouds, a formal-based framework for semantic interoperability in multi-clouds. This framework contains a catalogue of formal models that mathematically describe cloud APIs and reason over them. A precise alignment can be described between their concepts, which promotes semantic interoperability.

Abstract: National audience; L'informatique multi-nuages s'est imposée comme un paradigme de choix pour acquérir des ressources provenant de différents fournisseurs de nuage et obtenir le meilleur de ces derniers pour exécuter des applications. L'informatique multi-nuages consiste en l'utilisation de multiples environnements de nuages indépendants qui ne nécessitent pas d'accord préalable entre les fournisseurs de nuage ou un tiers. Cependant la gestion des ressources dans un environne-ments multi-nuages reste une tâche difficile. Plusieurs bibliothèques multi-nuages comprenant Apache Libcloud, Apache jclouds, δ-cloud, Daseincloud, fog et pkgcloud existent sur le marché de nuage. Mais la gestion des ressources multi-nuages par ces bibliothèques se fait toujours en programmant dans un langage spécifique et reste de bas niveau. Par conséquent, nous avons besoin d'une solution permettant aux développeurs de gérer de manière simple les ressources multi-nuages. Dans cet article nous fournissons une approche dirigée par les modèles pour gérer à un niveau d'abstraction plus haut les ressources provenant de plusieurs nuages. Nous illustrons notre proposition en fournissant un prototype du Designer multi-nuages pour gérer des ressources provenant de plusieurs nuages.

Abstract: Multi-Cloud computing has established itself as a paradigm of choice for acquiring resources from different providers and get the best of each of them to run their applications. However, managing resources in Multi-Cloud remains a challenging task. Several multi-cloud libraries based approaches include Apache Libcloud, Apache jclouds, δ-cloud, Daseincloud, fog, and pkgcloud exist in the cloud market. But these are still low level as Multi-Cloud management tasks must always be programmed. Therefore, application platforms are need to help developers to succeed. In this paper we give a model-driven approach for managing resources of multiple clouds at high level. We illustrate our proposal by providing a prototype of Multi-Cloud Designer for managing resource from multiple clouds.

Abstract: Cette habilitation à diriger des recherches présente mes travaux sur le génie logiciel des intergiciels, domaine à la croisée de l’informatique répartie et du génie logiciel. L’intergiciel est la couche logicielle permettant de s’abstraire de l’hétérogénéité des technologies de l’informatique distribuée et de répondre aux besoins d’interopérabilité, de portabilité, d’adaptation et de séparation des préoccupations des applications réparties. Mes travaux ont été guidés par deux questions de recherche ouvertes : 1) quel est le paradigme de programmation le plus approprié pour les applications réparties ? 2) quelle est l’organisation la plus appropriée pour l’intergiciel ?La première partie présente une synthèse de mes travaux et contributions. Premièrement, mes travaux ont porté sur la transition des objets vers les composants CORBA donnant lieu à deux contributions majeures : le langage de script CorbaScript standardisé auprès de l’OMG et la plate-forme OpenCCM pour le développement, le déploiement, l’exécution et l’administration d’applications réparties à base de composants CORBA. Deuxièmement, je me suis intéressé à la conception de canevas intergiciels hautement adaptables. Ces travaux basés sur les composants réflexifs Fractal ont donné lieu à un cadre de programmation par attributs sur lequel trois canevas flexibles pour la gestion du transactionnel, le déploiement de systèmes distribués hétérogènes et les composants Java temps-réels ont été bâtis. Enfin, mes travaux ont porté sur la proposition du modèle Services Composants Aspects (SCA) et l’intergiciel d’intergiciels FraSCAti.La deuxième partie opère un zoom sur le projet FraSCAti. La contribution scientifique de ce projet est de proposer un intergiciel réflexif pour l’informatique orientée service combinant deux idées originales : la notion d’intergiciel d’intergiciels et le modèle Services Composants Aspects réflexif. Partant du constat qu’il n’existe pas d’intergiciel universel capable de couvrir l’ensemble des besoins de toutes les applications distribuées, le projet FraSCAti propose un canevas intergiciel extensible pour l’intégration et la composition élégante des intergiciels et technologies SOA existants, c’est-à-dire un intergiciel d’intergiciels. Le modèle SCA réflexif est quant à lui le mariage fécond du standard OASIS Service Component Architecture (SCA), du modèle de composants Fractal et de la programmation orientée aspects (AOP). Dans ce modèle, tout est composant réflexif permettant ainsi d’adapter dynamiquement aussi bien les applications métiers, l’intergiciel, les liaisons de communication réseau que les aspects non fonctionnels. Cette contribution a été appliquée sur l’orchestration de services à large échelle, la construction de systèmes de systèmes et une plate-forme distribuée multi-nuages. La dernière partie dresse un bilan des contributions et présente mes perspectives de recherche centrées sur le génie logiciel pour l’informatique en nuage (cloud computing).

Abstract: National audience; The development of security policies for information systems is usually based on a systematic risks analysis, reducing them by adopting appropriate countermeasures. These risks analysis approaches are complex and designed for well-known and static environments. To overcome this limit, we propose to extend the Model Driven Security (MDS) approach to a MDS@Runtime vision to set a Security as a Service component. Plugged on the FraSCAti middleware, our security component selects, composes and orchestrates the security services depending on the execution context to avoid both under and over protection.

Abstract: The SCOrWare project objectives are to develop: ● A runtime platform for deploying, executing, and managing SCA based applications. ● A set of development tools for modeling, designing, and implementing SCA based applications. ● A set of demonstrators. This document specifies the set of tools used to design, develop, test, and deploy elements to build a distributed architecture compound of components, services, and business services. These tools are based on standards like MDA (Model Driven Architecture) [1], DSL (Domain Specific Language) [2], SCA (Service Component Architecture), and are build on top of Eclipse. Some of these tools complete currently available tools proposed in the SOA Tools Platform (STP) project [3], and others are specific to the SCOrWare project. Section 1.1 lists existing STP tools, and Section 1.2 gives an overview of the contributions of the developed SCOrWare tools, and a summary of next chapters.

Abstract: New distributed systems are running onto fluctuating environments (e.g. ambient or grid computing). These fluctuations must be taken into account when deploying these systems. Autonomic computing aims at realizing programs that implement self-adaptation behaviour. Unfortunately in practice, these programs are not often statically validated, and their execution can lead to emergent undesirable behaviour. In this paper, we argue that static validation is mandatory for large autonomic distributed systems. We identify two kinds of validation that are relevant and crucial when deploying such systems. These validations affect the deployment procedures of software composing a system, as well as the autonomic policies of this system. Using our Dacar model-based framework for deploying autonomic software distributed architectures, we show how we tackle the problem of static validation of autonomic distributed systems

Abstract: Manual administration of complex distributed applications is almost impossible to achieve. On one side, work in autonomic computing focuses on systems that are able to maintain themselves, driven by high-level policies. Such a selfadministration relies on the concept of a control loop. On the other side, modeling is currently used to ease design of complex distributed systems. Nevertheless, at runtime, models remain useless, because they are decoupled from the running system which is subject to dynamic changes. The autonomic computing control loop involves an abstract representation of the system used to analyze the situation and to adapt the application properly. Our proposition, named Distributed Autonomous Component-based ARchitectures (Dacar), introduces models in the control loop. Using adequate models into the control loop, it is possible to design both the distributed systems and their evolution policies, and to execute them. The metamodel suggested in our work mixes both OMG Deployment and Configuration specification and the Event-Condition-Action (ECA) metamodels. This paper treats the different concerns that are present in the control loop and focuses on the concepts of the metamodel that are needed to express entities of the control loop. It also gives an overview of the current Dacar prototype and illustrated it on an ubiquitous application example.

Abstract: International audience; This paper presents the Fraclet annotation framework. The goal of Fraclet is to leverage Component-Based Software Engineering based on the Fractal component model using Attribute-Oriented Programming. We show that, using Fraclet, about 50% of the handwritten program code can be saved without loosing the semantics of the application, while the rest of the program code is automatically generated.

Abstract: International audience; In the transportation domain, software applications running on mobile devices are more and more needed. These applications have strong requirements to address: heterogeneity and limited ressources of wireless networks and mobile devices, networked communications, security, discovery of services, deployment on mobile devices, etc. These requirements are similar to those of any ubiquitous computing application. In this paper, we present a component-based software infrastructure to design, discover, deploy, and execute ubiquitous computing contextual services, i.e. applications providing services to mobile end-users and only available from particular place. Services are designed as assemblies of software components that are dynamically discovered according to end-users' physical location and device capabilities, and automatically deployed on it. Our software infrastructure and an example of service in the field of transportation have been implemented on top of the OMG's CORBA Component Model (CCM) and the OpenCCM open source platform.

Abstract: La multiplication des langages de description d'architectures, des modèles et des plates-formes de composants pose un sérieux dilemme aux architectes d'applications à base de composants logiciels. D'un côté, ils doivent choisir un langage pour exprimer des configurations concrètes qui seront déployées automatiquement sur des plates-formes d'exécution. D'un autre côté, ils désirent capitaliser leurs architectures logicielles indépendamment des langages de description et des plates-formes d'exécution. Pour résoudre ce problème, nous proposons un environnement multi personnalités pour la configuration et le déploiement d'applications à base de composants logiciels. Celui-ci est constitué d'un noyau central capturant un modèle canonique de configuration et de déploiement et d'un ensemble de personnalités adaptées aux langages et aux plates-formes. Cet article décrit l'architecture de cet environnement et discute des personnalités pour les modèles de composants CORBA et Fractal. –––––The multiplication of architecture description languages, component models and platforms implies a serious dilemma for component based software architects. On the one hand, they have to choose a language to describe concrete configurations which will be automatically deployed on execution platforms. On the other hand, they wish to capitalize their software architectures independently of any description languages or platforms. To solve this problem, we propose a multi personalities environment for the configuration and the deployment of component based applications. This environment is composed of a core capturing a canonical model of configuration and deployment, and a set of personalities tailored to languages and platforms. This paper details the architecture of such an environment and describes the personalities for the CORBA and Fractal component models.

Abstract: International audience; Nowadays, distributed Java-based applications could be built on top of a plethora of middleware technologies such as Object Request Brokers (ORB) like CORBA and Java RMI, Web Services, and component-oriented platforms like EJB or CCM. Choosing the right technology fitting with application requirements is driven by various criteria such as economic costs, available features, performance, etc. The main contribution of this paper is to present an experience report on the design and implementation of a simple benchmark to evaluate the round-trip latency of various Java-based middleware platforms. Empirical results and analysis are discussed on a large set of widely available implementations including various ORB (Java RMI, Java IDL, ORBacus, JacORB, OpenORB, and Ice), Web Services projects (Apache XML-RPC and Axis), and componentoriented platforms (JBoss, JOnAS, OpenCCM, Fractal, Pro-Active).

Abstract: International audience; Context:Open standards are urgently needed for enabling software interoperability in Cloud Computing. Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) provides a set of best design principles to create interoperable REST management APIs. Although OCCI is the only standard addressing the management of any kind of cloud resources, it does not support a range of best principles related to REST design. This often worsens REST API quality by decreasing their understandability and reusability.Objective:We aim at assisting cloud developers to enhance their REST management APIs by providing a compliance evaluation of OCCI and REST best principles and a recommendation support to comply with these principles.Method:First, we leverage patterns and anti-patterns to drive respectively the good and poor practices of OCCI and REST best principles. Then, we propose a semantic-based approach for defining and detecting REST and OCCI (anti)patterns and providing a set of correction recommendations to comply with both REST and OCCI best principles. We validated this approach by applying it on cloud REST APIs and evaluating its accuracy, usefulness and extensibility.Results:We found that our approach accurately detects OCCI and REST(anti)patterns and provides useful recommendations. According to the compliance results, we reveal that there is no widespread adoption of OCCI principles in existing APIs. In contrast, these APIs have reached an acceptable level of maturity regarding REST principles.Conclusion:Our approach provides an effective and extensible technique for defining and detecting OCCI and REST (anti)patterns in Cloud REST APIs. Cloud software developers can benefit from our approach and defined principles to accurately evaluate their APIs from OCCI and REST perspectives. This contributes in designing interoperable, understandable, and reusable Cloud management APIs. Thank to the compliance analysis and the recommendation support, we also contribute to improving these APIs, which make them more straightforward.
