Plants belonging to the genus Prosopis L. (family Fabaceae, subfamily Mimosoideae) have gained significant popularity in traditional medicine due to their potential as anticancer, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial compounds. The primary objective of this work was to determine the phytochemical composition of the ethanolic extract derived from Prosopis juliflora leaves, as well as to assess its antibacterial and cytotoxic properties. The phytochemical screening using GC-MS revealed the presence of phytosteroids, ketone, esters, diisooctyl phthalate, and triterpenes. Besides, varying amounts of some silicon derivatives, which were reported to have antimicrobial activity, were detected with octasiloxane, which showed the highest amount (18.47%). 6-Ethoxy-6-methyl-2-cyclohexenone (antioxidant, antidiabetic, antiobesity, and antimicrobial) was detected in considerable quantity. Cytotoxic activity was seen in human breast cancer (MCF-7), human ovary adenocarcinoma (A2780), and human colon adenocarcinoma (HT-29) cell lines, as well as in normal human fetal lung fibroblasts (MRC-5), when subjected to the MTT assay. The plant extract exhibited the highest level of activity (5.75 μg/mL) against the A2780 cell line, with the MCF-7 cell line showing a somewhat lower level of activity (18.49 μg/mL). The antibacterial effect of the plant extracts was evaluated against four standard Gram-positive and four standard Gram-negative. The antimicrobial potential was observed only against Staphylococcus aureus which recorded a 14.5 ± 0.05 mm inhibition zone. The present study has demonstrated the identification of bioactive constituents in P. juliflora plant extracts, which exhibit significant cytotoxic activity against breast and colon malignancies. The study also highlighted P. juliflora extract as an antibacterial against S. aureus.

Statement of Problem. The performance of central incisor endocrowns with varying crown heights and different computer-aided designs and computer-aided manufacturing materials is not clear. Purpose. The aim of this study was to compare and assess the stress distribution and failure possibility of endodontically treated central incisor protected with endocrowns with different heights, with various CAD–CAM blocks such as IPS e.max CAD, Katana Zirconia, and Zolid Fx Zirconia. Materials and Methods. A root canal-treated central incisor (plastic model) restored with an endocrown was scanned with a laser scanner to prepare a control model with a CAD software and then transferred to an FEA software. Proposed crown heights were 2, 4, and 6 mm. The model that was duplicated and restored with CAD–CAM blocks, IPS e.max CAD, Katana Zirconia, and Zolid Fx Zirconia were tested as endocrown materials. Bone geometry was simplified to be two coaxial cylinders in all models. Stress distributions under 50 N axial and oblique (with 135° angle from the vertical plane) loading were analyzed. Each model was then subjected to two occlusal loading conditions—the lingual slope of the incisal edge and the junction between incisal and middle thirds. Eighteen runs and calculations were performed to determine the endocrown height and material effect. Results. The results showed a minor or negligible effect of changing the endocrown material. Increasing endocrown height was shown to reduce stresses and deformations on most of the model components (bone, gutta-percha, periodontal ligament, and endocrown), except root and cement. Differences in deformations and stresses between the two models of 4 and 6 mm were relatively smaller (ranged between 1% and 30%) compared to those between the 2 and 4 mm models (ranged between 10% and 400%). Conclusions. The material used to fabricate endocrowns did not show considerable effect on the underlying structures. However, the endocrown design (2, 4, and 6 mm height) was shown to affect all components of the studied systems. Increasing endocrown height is recommended for bone, periodontal ligaments, and endocrown body, as it reduces stresses and deformations. On the other hand, it dramatically increases stresses on the root and cement layer. Smaller endocrown sizes represent an acceptable treatment option when there is a healthy periodontal state, while using larger sizes will be more suitable when there is a periodontal compromise with bone loss.

Cancer is a serious health problem, with a rising trend in its occurrence documented globally. Female breast cancer is the most common type of cancer worldwide with treatment consisting of different strategies like mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Anticancer property has been studied in withaferin-A (WA), a bioactive compound of Withania somnifera. Another natural substance derived from bees, propolis, has been investigated for many beneficial effects on human diseases. The current study aims to investigate the ameliorative efficacy and antiproliferative potential of combinational drug therapy of withaferin-A and propolis on breast cancer cells. By evaluating the levels of glycoproteins, nucleic acids, and the marker enzymes in benzo[a]pyrene-induced breast cancer-bearing female Wistar rats, the pharmacodynamic effects of withaferin-A and propolis drug combination were examined. Biochemical analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein levels in the liver demonstrated typical results after propolis therapy. Withaferin-A and propolis drug combination treatment significantly decreased nucleic acid synthesis, indicating that combination chemotherapy has increased breast tumoricidal efficiency. The pharmacological combination therapy exhibited the capacity to control glycoproteins associated with tumor growth (hexose, hexosamine, and sialic acid), with a considerable decrease in their levels detected. Histopathological analysis of the mammary glands demonstrated a decrease in hyperplasia and cell proliferation, indicating that the treatment has the ability to reverse architectural and morphological abnormalities associated with breast cancer. This study found that natural drug compounds in combination have shown regenerative and regulating effects when given to rats carrying the breast cancer gene.

The major goal of this investigation was to prepare a drug delivery of polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) from 5-fluorouracil (FU) that could be delivered intravenously and improve the therapeutic index of the FU. In order to achieve this, interfacial deposition method was used to prepare FU entrapped poly-(lactic-co-glycolic acid) nanoparticles (FU-PLGA-NPs). The influence of various experimental settings on the effectiveness of FU integration into the NPs was assessed. Our findings show that the technique used to prepare the organic phase and the ratio of the organic phase to the aqueous phase had the greatest impact on the effectiveness of FU integration into NPs. The results show that the preparation process produced spherical, homogenous, negatively charged particles with a nanometric size of 200 nm that are acceptable for intravenous delivery. A quick initial release over 24 h and then slow and steady release of FU from the formed NPs, exhibiting a biphasic pattern. Through the human small cell lung cancer cell line (NCI-H69), the in vitro anti-cancer potential of the FU-PLGA-NPs was evaluated. It was then associated to the in vitro anti-cancer potential of the marketed formulation Fluracil®. Investigations were also conducted into Cremophor-EL (Cre-EL) potential activity on live cells. The viability of NCI-H69 cells was drastically reduced when they were exposed to 50 µg·mL−1 Fluracil®. Our findings show that the integration of FU in NPs significantly increases the drug cytotoxic effect in comparison to Fluracil®, with this potential effect being particularly important for extended incubation durations.

Background. Monkeypox, also known as monkeypox disease, is caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), which is a zoonotic infection. The swift spread of human monkeypox cases has caused an alarming situation worldwide. This novel study aimed to investigate the association of particulate matter air pollutants PM2.5, PM10, Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and Ozone (O3) on the incidence of monkeypox cases from May 1, 2022, to July 15, 2022. Methods. The data on air pollutants PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 and monkeypox cases were recorded from the date of occurrence of the first case of monkeypox in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Portugal from May 1, 2022, to July 15, 2022. The daily concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 were recorded from the metrological website “Air Quality Index-AQI,” and daily human monkeypox cases were recorded from the official website of “Our World in Data.” The mean values along with simple, multiple, and Spearman Rho correlations were performed to investigate the relationship and strength of association between the concentrations of air pollutants and cases of monkeypox. Results. The environmental pollutants PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 were positively associated with monkeypox cases in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Portugal. The analysis further revealed that for each 10-unit increase in PM2.5, PM10, and NO2, levels, the number of monkeypox cases was significantly augmented by 29.6%, 9.7%, 13%, and 80.6%, respectively. Conclusions. Environmental pollutants PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 have been positively linked to the number of daily monkeypox cases in European countries. Environmental pollution is a risk factor for the increasing incidence of monkeypox daily cases. The regional and international authorities must implement policies to curtail air pollution to combat the cases of monkeypox in European countries and worldwide.

In the work that we are doing now, our goal is to find a solution to the (3 + 1)-dimensional Sakovich equation, which is an equation that can be used to characterize the movement of nonlinear waves. This approach sees extensive use across the board in engineering’s many subfields. This new equation can represent more dispersion and nonlinear effects, which allows it to accept more different application scenarios. As a result, it has a wider range of potential applications in the physical world. As a consequence of this, when the two components are combined, they can be used to easily counteract the effects of nonlinearity and dispersion on the integrability of partially differential equations. This equation represents a novel physical paradigm that should be looked into further. We use the following three analytical techniques: the exp−ψη expansion method is the first one, the second is the G′/kG′+G+r expansion method, and the Bernoulli sub-ODE technique is the last one. Lastly, the soliton solutions obtained are presented by graphs in two and three dimensions, which present different kinds of solitons such as dark, periodic, exponential, bright, and singular soliton solutions.

One of the leading causes of female infertility is PCOS, which is a hormonal disorder affecting women of childbearing age. The common symptoms of PCOS include increased acne, irregular period, increase in body hair, and overweight. Early diagnosis of PCOS is essential to manage the symptoms and reduce the associated health risks. Nonetheless, the diagnosis is based on Rotterdam criteria, including a high level of androgen hormones, ovulation failure, and polycystic ovaries on the ultrasound image (PCOM). At present, doctors and radiologists manually perform PCOM detection using ovary ultrasound by counting the number of follicles and determining their volume in the ovaries, which is one of the challenging PCOS diagnostic criteria. Moreover, such physicians require more tests and checks for biochemical/clinical signs in addition to the patient’s symptoms in order to decide the PCOS diagnosis. Furthermore, clinicians do not utilize a single diagnostic test or specific method to examine patients. This paper introduces the data set that includes the ultrasound image of the ovary with clinical data related to the patient that has been classified as PCOS and non-PCOS. Next, we proposed a deep learning model that can diagnose the PCOM based on the ultrasound image, which achieved 84.81% accuracy using the Inception model. Then, we proposed a fusion model that includes the ultrasound image with clinical data to diagnose the patient if they have PCOS or not. The best model that has been developed achieved 82.46% accuracy by extracting the image features using MobileNet architecture and combine with clinical features.

This article proposes a hybrid scheme of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) based on artificial neural network (ANN) and ripple current correlation (RCC). ANN model is established using the data generated through RCC MPPT. Scaled conjugate gradient ANN is applied to gauge the performance improvement. The proposed scheme is validated through simulations. For this, the proposed system is applied to three different environmental scenarios which are standard testing condition of a PV module, under variable irradiance condition, and variable temperature condition. It is established that the proposed system is well capable of tracking the maximum power point under various test conditions.

Background. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a well-known cause of bronchiolitis in children, can cause community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in adults, but this condition is not well studied. Hence, we described the characteristics and outcomes of patients hospitalized for CAP due to RSV. Methods. This was a retrospective study of patients admitted to a tertiary-care hospital between 2016 and 2019 with CAP due to RSV diagnosed by a respiratory multiplex PCR within 48 hours of admission. We compared patients who required ICU admission to those who did not. Results. Eighty adult patients were hospitalized with CAP due to RSV (median age 69.0 years, hypertension 65.0%, diabetes 58.8%, chronic respiratory disease 52.5%, and immunosuppression 17.5%); 19 (23.8%) patients required ICU admission. The median pneumonia severity index score was 120.5 (140.0 for ICU and 102.0 for non-ICU patients; p=0.09). Bacterial coinfection was rare (10.0%). Background. Progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) is a rare genetic disorder that results from defective mechanisms of bile secretion. We aim to describe different types of PFIC and their clinical features, treatment modalities, and outcomes in Saudi Arabia. Patients and Methods. This is a retrospective study of all patients diagnosed with PFIC at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh from January 1, 2002, to December 31, 2021. All relevant information was collected from patient charts and transferred into the REDcap® database for statistical analysis. Results. A total of 79 patients were identified with PFIC, and PFIC type 3 was the most common (59.5%), followed by PFIC type 2 (34.2%), PFIC type 1 (5.1%), and PFIC type 4 (1.3%). Males and females were affected in 54.4% and 45.6%, respectively. Mutations in ATP8B1, ABCB11, and ABCB4 genes were observed in PFIC type 1, PFIC type 2, and PFIC type 3, and loss of function in a variant of TJP2 was detected in PFIC type 4, respectively. A total of 51 (64.6%) patients underwent liver transplantation: three patients (3/4) with PFIC type 1 (75%), twenty patients (20/27) with PFIC type 2 (74.1%), twenty-seven patients (27/47) with PFIC type 3 (57.4%), and one patient with PFIC type 4 (100%). The mean duration of disease before transplantation was 53.9±67 months with a median of 30 months. Following liver transplantation, symptomatic control was achieved in 47 patients (92.2%). Recurrence after transplantation occurred in 4 patients (7.8%) within an average of 22.5 months and a median of 17 months. Conclusion. PFIC is considered a rare disorder in Saudi Arabia; however, early recognition of the disease is important for appropriate management and early referral for liver transplantation evaluation. The overall rate of liver transplantation in our cohort was 64.6% with an excellent five-year survival rate.

Nowadays, scarcity arises in almost all our basic needs, including water, fuel, and food. Recycling used and scrapped things for a valuable commodity is highly appreciable for compensating for the globally fast-growing demand. This paper aims to investigate waste tyre oil for preparing biodiesel for CI engines by enhancing their performance with hybrid nanoparticles for preparing nanofuel and hybrid nanofuel. The nanoparticles (30–40 nm) of MWCNT and TiO2 were utilized to prepare nanofuels with nanoparticle concentrations of MWCNT (300 ppm) and TiO2 (300 ppm), respectively. In the case of hybrid nanofuel, the nanoparticle concentration of MWCNT (150 ppm) and TiO2 (150 ppm) was preferred. The performance of the proposed nanofuel and hybrid nanofuel with pure diesel was evaluated. The proposed fuel performance outperforms the combustion performance, has higher engine efficiency, and has fewer emissions. The best performances were noticed in hybrid nanofuel that has 32% higher brake thermal efficiency than diesel and 24% and 4% lower BSFC and peak pressure than diesel, respectively. The emission performance is also 29%, 50%, and 13% lower in CO, HC, and CO2 emissions than that in pure diesel.

In this study, we examine the transmission dynamics of global Nipah virus infection under direct (human-to-human) and indirect (contaminated foods-to-human) transmission routes via the Caputo fractional and fractional-fractal modeling approaches. The model is vigorously analyzed both theoretically and numerically. The possible equilibrium points of the system and their existence are investigated based on the reproduction number. The model exhibits three equilibrium points, namely, infection-free, infected flying foxes free, and endemic. Furthermore, novel numerical schemes are derived for the models in fractional and fractal-fractional cases. Finally, an extensive simulation is conducted to validate the theoretical results and provide an impact of the model on the disease incidence. We believe that this study will help to incorporate such mathematical techniques to examine the complex dynamics and control the spread of such infectious diseases.

Objectives. The aim of this study is to investigate and compare the microbial efficacy of Moringa oleifera leaf extract, octenidine dihydrochloride (OCT), NaOCl, and their combinations as intracanal irrigants against Enterococcus faecalis. Materials and Methods. Sixty single-rooted mandibular premolars were decoronated followed by root canal preparation. Each root specimen was autoclaved, inoculated with E. faecalis, and incubated at 37°C for 48 hr. Then, the specimens were divided into six groups based on the irrigation solution used: 2.5% NaOCl (Group 1), 0.1% OCT (Group 2), M. oleifera leaves extract (Group 3), a combination of M. oleifera extract and 1.25% NaOCl (Group 4), a combination of M. oleifera extract and OCT (Group 5) and normal saline (Group 6). The current study was planned to assess the neuropharmacological benefits of the Cucurbita maxima seed. These seeds have been conventionally used for the nutritional as well as amelioration of various diseases. However, there was a need to provide a pharmacological basis for such use. Four central nervous system-related functions, that is, anxiety, depression, memory, and motor coordination, were evaluated, and the levels of brain biogenic amines were also assessed. Anxiety was evaluated through selected experimental models, such as light and dark apparatus, elevated plus maze, head dip, and open field test. The head dip test was mainly used to assess exploratory behavior. Depression was assessed by two animal models, that is, the forced swim test and tail suspension test. Memory and learning ability were assessed by the passive avoidance test, stationary rod apparatus, and Morris’s water maze test. Motor skilled learning was assessed by stationary rod and rotarod apparatus. Reversed phase high-pressure liquid chromatography was used to determine biogenic amine levels. Results reveal that C. maxima exhibited anxiolytic and antidepressant effects with memory improvement. There was a reduction in the weight of the animal following chronic administration. Furthermore, no remarkable effects were observed on motor coordination. Norepinephrine was found elevated, which may be linked to its antidepressant effects. These biological effects of C. maxima may be due to the presence of secondary metabolites, such as cucurbitacin, beta-sitosterol, polyphenolic compounds, citrulline, kaempferol, arginine, β-carotene, quercetin, and other antioxidants. The outcomes of the present study authenticate that the chronic use of C. maxima seeds reduces the intensity of neurological problems like anxiety and depression.

In blood flow and fluid mechanics, Jeffrey fluid has a vital role because of its viscoelastic characteristics. The application of Caputo–Fabrizio time-fractional derivatives for dusty-type Jeffrey fluid is discussed in this article. The concept of free convection flow of dusty Jeffrey fluid between infinite vertical parallel static plates is generalized. Free convection and buoyant force produce the flow. Furthermore, the fluid contains homogeneous dispersion of all spherical dust particles. Heat transmission is therefore taken into account for free convection. Nondimensional variables are used to write the dusty Jeffrey fluid classical model in dimensionless form. Also, the dimensionless model is transformed into a generalized dusty Jeffrey fluid model via a fractional derivative. Using the finite sine and Laplace method, the governing equations of the generalized dusty Jeffrey fluid model have been solved exactly. Numerical computation is used to study the physics of velocity and temperature profiles for a variety of embedded parameters. The collected results are discussed in detail and are shown graphically in this report. Mathcad-15 is used to plot the graphical outcomes for Jeffrey fluid, dust particle, and temperature profiles. Furthermore, skin friction and the Nusselt number are calculated. Table demonstrates how the rate of heat transmission reduces as the Peclet number’s value rises. Similarly, Table demonstrates that skin friction increases as the fractional parameter rises. By increasing the dusty Jeffrey fluid parameter λ, both velocity profiles are retarded.

The worldwide demand for oil has been rising rapidly for many decades, being the first indicator of economic development. Oil is extracted from underneath reservoirs found below land or ocean using oil wells. An offshore oil well is an oil well type where a wellbore is drilled underneath the ocean bed to obtain oil to the surface that demands more stability than other oil wells. The sensors of oil wells generate massive amounts of multivariate time-series data for surveillance engineers to analyze manually and have continuous insight into drilling operations. The manual analysis of data is challenging and time-consuming. Additionally, it can lead to several faulty events that could increase costs and production losses since the engineers tend to focus on the analysis rather than detecting the faulty events. Recently, machine learning (ML) techniques have significantly solved enormous real-time data anomaly problems by decreasing the data engineers’ interaction processes. Accordingly, this study aimed to utilize ML techniques to reduce the time spent manually to establish rules that detect abnormalities in oil wells, leading to rapid and more precise detection. Four ML algorithms were utilized, including random forest (RF), logistic regression (LR), k-nearest neighbor (K-NN), and decision tree (DT). The dataset used in this study suffers from the class imbalance issue; therefore, experiments were conducted using the original and sampled datasets. The empirical results demonstrated promising outcomes, where RF achieved the highest accuracy, recall, precision, F1-score, and AUC of 99.60%, 99.64%, 99.91%, 99.77%, and 1.00, respectively, using the sampled data, and 99.84%, 99.91%, 99.91%, 99.91%, and 1.00, respectively, using the original data. Besides, the study employed Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to enable surveillance engineers to interpret black box models to understand the causes of abnormalities. The proposed models can be used to successfully identify anomalous events in the oil wells.

Conversion of fructose to furan aldehydes is a rapidly developing concept considering the emergent scenario of the replacement of fossil-derived components to biomass-derived green precursors. 5-hydroxymethyl furfural (HMF) and levulinic acid (LA) are the two most important bio-precursors with expanded downstream utilization in modern industries. Their production from biomass-derived sugars is a complex reaction due to competitive side reactions with a variety of byproducts. Therefore, their simulated optimization is an important tool that can help for process optimization in an economical way. In this article, we have developed a mathematical solution for fructose conversion, HMF production, and levulinic acid (LA) formation in a reactive environment. The accuracy of the developed model is further verified through experiments and found satisfactory with high accuracy. Therefore, the developed model can be used to simulate the reaction environment and product optimization under a given set of conditions.

Background. Solar radiations that reach the Earth can be divided into ultraviolet, visible light, and infrared. Overexposure to these radiations can facilitate adverse skin diseases such as sunburn, skin cancer, and photoaging. People who drive vehicles for an extended period are likely to develop skin cancer in the exposed body area. Method. This research proposes a wearable protective device around the upper arm to measure the transmitted radiation through the front and the side windows. A novel skin type classification algorithm using a color sensor was created to provide an accurate skin type identification. Also, the device was programmed to calculate the time before sunburn occurrence based on the ultraviolet index, sunscreen’s sun protection factor, and skin type. Results. The prototype was tested inside a Toyota Camry model 2001 vehicle with an accuracy of 97%. The front window had transmitted more infrared radiation compared to the side window. The highest recorded value was 76.76 mW/cm2. On the other hand, the side window had transmitted more ultraviolet compared to the front window as it lacks the protective polyvinyl butyral layer that the front window has. The highest recorded ultraviolet index was 3.5. Conclusion. These results highlight the importance of wearing the designed solar band and using appropriate UV and IR protection while driving a vehicle to prevent skin diseases from occurring.

Background and Aim. Underlying comorbidities are an emerging risk factor for more severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, its impact on patients with chronic liver disease (CLD) remains unclear. In addition, there is a paucity of data about whether patients with CLD have an increased risk of requiring intensive care, vasopressor support, or mechanical ventilation (MV). This study aimed to evaluate the impact of pre-existing LD on the clinical outcome of hospitalized patients with COVID-19. Methods. We studied 2731 patients with known CLD who were hospitalized at the Johns Hopkins Health System with COVID-19 between March 1, 2020, and December 15, 2021. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality, and secondary outcomes were MV and vasopressors. Multivariable Cox regression models were performed to explore factors associated with the outcomes. Results. Overall, 80.1% had severe COVID-19, all-cause mortality was 8.9%, 12.8% required MV, and 11.2% received vasopressor support. Older patients with underlying comorbidities were more likely to have severe COVID-19. There was association between elevated aminotransferases and total bilirubin with more severe COVID-19. Hepatic decompensation was independently associated with all-cause mortality (HR 2.94; 95% CI 1.23–7.06). Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD, HR 2.79, 95% CI, 1.00–8.02) was independently associated with increased risk for MV, and independent factors related to vasopressor support were chronic pulmonary disease and underlying malignancy. Conclusions. COVID-19 infection in patients with CLD is associated with poor outcomes. SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with hepatic decompensation was associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality hazard, and ALD among patients with COVID-19 was associated with an increased hazard for MV.

Several medicinal plants have the potential to be a promising alternative pharmacological therapy for a variety of human illnesses. Many insects, including mosquitoes, are important vectors of deadly pathogens and parasites, which in the world’s growing human and animal populations can cause serious epidemics and pandemics. Medicinal plants continue to provide a large library of phytochemicals, which can be used to replace chemically synthesized insecticides, and utilization of herbal product-based insecticides is one of the best and safest alternatives for mosquito control. Identifying new effective phyto-derived insecticides is important to counter increasing insect resistance to synthetic compounds and provide a safer environment. Solanum genus (Solanaceae family or nightshades) comprises more than 2500 species, which are widely used as food and traditional medicine. All research publications on insecticidal properties of Solanaceae plants and their phytoconstituents against mosquitoes and other insects published up to July 2020 were systematically analyzed through PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, EBSCO, Europe PMC, and Google Scholar databases, with focus on species containing active phytoconstituents that are biodegradable and environmentally safe. The current state of knowledge on larvicidal plants of Solanum species, type of extracts, target insect species, type of effects, name of inhibiting bioactive compounds, and their lethal doses (LC50 and LC90) were reviewed in this study. These studies provide valuable information about the activity of various species of Solanum and their phytochemical diversity, as well as a roadmap for optimizing select compounds for botanical repellents against a variety of vectors that cause debilitating and life-threatening human diseases.

This study used a simple solution evaporation approach to make a bioinorganic titanium dioxide (Bi-TiO2) photocatalyst for dye contaminant degradation. A variety of techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and differential reflectance spectroscopy, had been employed to classify the structural and optical properties of the prepared bioinorganic photocatalyst (UV-DRS). Using simulated solar irradiation, the photocatalytic activity of the produced Bi-TiO2 nanoparticles was examined by detecting the degradation of a solution of methylene blue (MB) as a model dye molecule. The developed Bi-TiO2 photocatalyst demonstrates superior photocatalytic action than commercially available powder TiO2, according to photo-degradation experiments. E.coli and S.aureus bacterial strains were employed to assess the antibacterial activity of Bi-TiO2 nanoparticles. The most active molecules that gain antibacterial activity were examined in isolated or extracted components from the tulsi plant. The chosen compounds were docked with thymidylate kinase (TMPK), a potential therapeutic goal for the preparation of novel antibacterial drugs with the PDB ID of 4QGG. Five compounds, namely rosmarinic acid, vicenin-2, orientin, vitexin, and isoorientin, out of the 27 chosen compounds, showed a higher docking score and may aid in boosting antibacterial activity. The synthesized Bi-TiO2 nanoparticles produced antibacterial activity that was effective against Gram-positive bacteria. The nanomaterials that have been synthesized have a lot of potential in wastewater treatment and biomedical management technologies.

This work analyses the features of nanofluid flow and thermal transmission (NFTT) in a rectangular channel which is asymmetric by developing two numerical algorithms based on scale-2 Haar wavelets (S2HWs), Lagrange’s interpolation differential quadrature technique (LIDQT), and quasilinearization process (QP). In the simulation procedure, first of all, using similarity transformation (ST), the governing unsteady 2D flow model is changed into two highly non-linear ODEs. After that, QP is applied to linearize the non-linear ODEs, and finally S2HWs and LIDQT are used to simulate the non-linear system of ODEs. In results and discussion section, the parameters Reynolds number (R), expansion ratio and Nusselt (Nu), and nanoparticle volume fraction φ are analysed with respect to velocity and temperature profiles. The proposed techniques are easy to implement for fluid and heat transfer (FHT) problems.

This case series demonstrates how COVID-19 infection might affect the heart in the context of acute myocardial infarction. Atrioventricular (AV) block might appear as one of the significant cardiac complications of acute MI in patients who tested COVID-19 PCR positive regardless of the presence of CVOID-19 infection symptoms. In our series, conduction disorders as a complication of acute inferior STEMI are more common in patients who tested positive for the COVID-19 infection. 11 patients out of 18 inferior STEMI patients who have tested positive for the COVID-19 infection have atrioventricular block disorders.

Nanotechnology is a rapidly evolving discipline as it has a wide variety of applications in several fields. They have been synthesized in a variety of ways. Traditional processes such as chemical and physical synthesis have limits, whether in the form of chemical contamination during synthesis operations or in subsequent applications and usage of more energy. Over the last decade, research has focused on establishing easy, nontoxic, clean, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly techniques for nanoparticle production. To achieve this goal, biological synthesis was created to close this gap. Biosynthesis of nanoparticles is a one-step process, and it is ecofriendly in nature. The metabolic activities of biological agents convert dissolved metal ions into nanometals. For biosynthesis of metal nanoparticles, various biological agents like plants, fungus, and bacteria are utilized. In this review paper, the aim is to provide a summary of contemporary research on the biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles and their applications in various domains have been discussed.

Purpose. To evaluate the impact of early (3 weeks) urinary stent removal on urinary tract infections (UTIs) post renal transplantation. Methods. A retrospective study was performed including all adult renal transplants who were transplanted between January 2017 and May 2020 with a minimum of 6-month follow-up at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Results. A total of 279 kidney recipients included in the study were stratified into 114 in the early stent removal group (ESR) and 165 in the late stent removal group (LSR). The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the root canal anatomy of permanent canines in a Saudi subpopulation utilizing CBCT. A total of 1328 CBCT images of maxillary (634) and mandibular (694) permanent canines were collected from Saudi patients who visited the College of Dentistry at King Saud University in Riyadh. The images were analyzed for root and canal numbers, canal configuration types, and symmetry between the bilateral canine teeth in each arch. Gender, age, and tooth position were recorded. The Kappa test was used for both inter- and intraexaminer reliabilities. Data were analyzed with the chi-square test at a P value≤0.05. There were no two-rooted teeth in maxillary canines, and 1.89% had two canals. Double roots and double canals in mandibular canines were found in 2.88% and 9.94% of the teeth, respectively. Type I canal configuration was more common in maxillary canines (97.94%) compared to mandibular canines (92.07%). Maxillary canines showed higher bilateral symmetries of root and canal numbers and canal configuration types (100%, 98.1%, and 97.9%, resp.) compared to mandibular canines (97.1%, 90.1%, and 92.1%, respectively). The majority of maxillary and mandibular canines had a single root with a single canal and type I canal configuration. Mandibular canines are characterized by having more than one root and canal and alterations in root canal configurations compared to maxillary canines.

Background/Objectives. Use of antiseptics as an adjunct to a traditional mechanical tooth brushing method has limited their application for long duration because of their side effects such as staining and calculus formation. The objective of this in vitro study is to analyse the staining effects of antiseptic mouthwashes on dental enamel and compare it with those containing nanoparticles, dietary agents, and distilled water (control). Material and Methods. 105 intact premolars extracted for orthodontic reasons and without any caries or anatomical defects were selected for analysis. The samples were randomly divided into 7 different groups of fifteen teeth each for different solutions. Titanium hypersensitivity is rare, but it may exist among patients who need dental implant treatment. It could contribute to mild or severe peri-implant tissue hypersensitivity reactions and affect patients’ oral and general health according to some clinical reports. In extreme cases, it may lead to implant failure or extraction. In this case report, a 64-year-old Caucasian female patient received a titanium implant placement on #5. Right after the implant placement, she reported the symptoms of pain, eczema, and slight extraoral swelling, along with significant burning sensation occurring intra- and extraorally. The symptoms were not released after the systemic intervention of antibiotics for six days. On retrieving her medical history, the patient reported a previous allergic reaction to jewelry-like earrings in her childhood. The diagnosis of titanium hypersensitivity was made based on the rapid onset of symptoms and her metal allergy history. Therefore, the dental implant was removed after diagnosis, and a bone allograft was used to preserve the alveolar bone volume. Immediately after implant extraction, the swelling and burning sensation were receded. A complete recovery was achieved three weeks later. The dimension of the alveolar ridge bone was found well maintained in 10 weeks follow-up visit. Conclusion. Rapid onset of peri-implant gingival swelling may indicate a hypersensitivity to titanium implant in the clinic. For patients with a history of allergy to jewelry, the hypersensitivity tests to titanium alloy such as patch test or lymphocyte transformation test should be recommended as part of the dental implant treatment plan.

In the present research work, we investigate the existence of a solution for new boundary value problems involving fractional differential equations with ψ-Caputo fractional derivative supplemented with nonlocal multipoint, Riemann–Stieltjes integral and ψ-Riemann–Liouville fractional integral operator of order γ boundary conditions. Also, we study the existence result for the inclusion case. Our results are based on the modern tools of the fixed-point theory. To illustrate our results, we provide examples.

Background. Basic life support (BLS) is a level of medical care that is used for individuals with life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. It can be provided by trained medical personnel, including emergency medical technicians and paramedics, and by qualified bystanders. Vital areas of adult BLS include immediate identification of sudden cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system, early performance of high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and rapid defibrillation, when appropriate. Aim. To assess the awareness of secondary school students regarding BLS in Abha City, Saudi Arabia. Methodology. A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted targeting all accessible secondary school students in Abha City during the academic years 2018-2019. After explaining the objectives and importance of the research topic, all students in the three grades were invited to complete the study questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed by the researchers after reviewing the literature for related topics and consulting an expert for any additions or modifications. Results. The study included 761 students with ages ranging from 15 to 20 years and a mean age of 17 ± 1 years old. Male students accounted for 53.6% of the participants, and 96.7% of the participants were Saudi. Exactly 31% of the students had had a BLS training course, among which 79.2% had had training that lasted for only one day. Regarding awareness, 65% of the students had heard about BLS, and 44% knew about CPR. Exactly 52% of the students indicated that they should call the ER if there was a case with fainting. A total of 45.3% of the students reported that airway checking was the first step in CPR, and 16.7% reported that the chest compression to oral breathing ratio should be 30 to 2. Conclusions and Recommendations. In conclusion, the study revealed that poor awareness regarding BLS was present among the students. The researchers concluded that less than one-third of the students had BLS training. BLS should be taught, theoretically and practically (with simulations), to middle and high school students as BLS involves relatively simple concepts and methods.

Introduction. Currently, there are standard and basic versions of the MoCA, the latter designed for those with lower educational achievements. Community-based normative data on these versions of the MoCA from Arabic populations are deficient, and there is little data demonstrating how both scales perform in comparison. We aim to obtain normative performances from both versions and equate the measures of both scales. Methods. Community-based recruitment of healthy volunteers≥18 years of age. Participants underwent testing with both versions. Demographic data was collected with regard to age, gender, years of education, diabetes, and hypertension. Regression analysis was performed to determine significance of variables, and the circle-arc equating method was used to equate the two scores from each scale. Results. 311 participants were included in the study. The mean (sd) age was 45.8 (15.96), females were 184 (59.16%), and the duration of education was 12.7 (5.67) years. The goal of present investigation was to formulate and evaluate ketorolac tromethamine (KTM) mucoadhesive buccal films. The films were prepared by solvent evaporation method using PVP K30, HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M, carbopol 934, chitosan, and sodium alginate as polymers and propylene glycol as plasticizer. The films were evaluated for thickness, weight variation, folding endurance, surface pH, swelling index, in vitro residence time, in vitro diffusion, release kinetics, ex vivo permeation, in vitro-ex vivo correlation, and in vivo pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. Thickness, weight, drug content, and folding endurance were found to be uniform for the films. Surface pH was 6.85±0.10, and swelling index was the highest (27.27±0.37) for the best film containing carbopol 934 along with sodium alginate and PVP K 30 (formulation code F2). In vitro residence time was greater than 5 h, and in vitro % drug release was 98.71% for F2. It exhibited 55.49% of swelling inhibition at 5 h, and above 38.88% was maintained at even 8 h. The film F2 has shown maximum analgesic response of 17 sec at 5 h, and the response of 11 sec was maintained at even 8 h. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect of F2 was found be maximum while sustaining the effect for prolonged period when compared to free drug solution. Thus, KTM mucoadhesive buccal film containing carbopol 934, sodium alginate, and PVP K30 could be an effective alternative for conventional therapy with improved efficacy.

In this paper, we give an estimate of the first eigenvalue of the Laplace operator on a Lagrangian submanifold Mn minimally immersed in a complex space form. We provide sufficient conditions for a Lagrangian minimal submanifold in a complex space form with Ricci curvature bound to be isometric to a standard sphere Sn. We also obtain Simons-type inequality for same ambient space form.

The oleo-gum-resin of Commiphora myrrha is one of the most known natural antimicrobial agents, mainly due to its furanosesquiterpenes. A validated method based on sample extraction by matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) followed by high-performance column chromatography (HPLC) determination is applied to analyze two furanosesquiterpenoids, namely, 2-methoxyfuranodiene (CM-1) and 2-acetoxyfuranodiene (CM-2), existing in C. myrrha. The trial parameters that controlled the extraction prospective were studied and optimized. These include the nature of dispersant, mass ratio of sample to the dispersant, and the volume of elution solvent. A comparative antimicrobial study that used the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration Assay (MIC) method between MSPD, ultrasonic, and Soxhlet of myrrh extracts was also conducted. The optimal MSPD parameters used were (i) 15 mL of methanol applied as elution solvent; (ii) silica gel/sample mass at a 2 : 1 ratio; and (iii) a dispersing sorbent selected as silica gel. Technique retrievals were regulated from 96.87% to 100.54%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) from 1.24% to 4.45%. Commiphora myrrha-MSPD (CM-MSPD) extract showed the highest antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (156.25 μg/mL and 312.5 μg/mL, respectively) and antifungal activity (156.25 μg/mL). Yields acquired through the MSPD technique were larger than yields from other extraction techniques (sonication and traditional reflux extraction methods) with less consumption of time, sample, and solvent. The mode of antibacterial action of CM-1 and CM-2 was elucidated by performing molecular docking with bacterial DNA gyrase. Both the compounds interacted with key residues of DNA gyrase.

In the present paper, we investigate the nature of Ricci-Yamabe soliton on an imperfect fluid generalized Robertson-Walker spacetime with a torse-forming vector field ξ. Furthermore, if the potential vector field ξ of the Ricci-Yamabe soliton is of the gradient type, the Laplace-Poisson equation is derived. Also, we explore the harmonic aspects of η-Ricci-Yamabe soliton on an imperfect fluid GRW spacetime with a harmonic potential function ψ. Finally, we examine necessary and sufficient conditions for a 1-form η, which is the g-dual of the vector field ξ on imperfect fluid GRW spacetime to be a solution of the Schrödinger-Ricci equation.

Background. Implantable collamer lens (ICL) might rarely cause complications that warrant explantation. Here, we presented a case of inverted ICL that has undergone explantation after a 10-year duration. Case Presentation. A 49-year-old male with past ocular history of ICL implantation 10 years ago presented complaining of progressive decrease of visual acuity in the left eye for a long time. On examination, decreased visual acuity, anterior subcapsular cataract, and low ICL vault were noted. The anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS OCT) showed inverted ICL. The ICL was explanted, and cataract surgery was done. Conclusion. Inverted ICL should be kept in mind as a rare cause of long-term poor visual acuity in patient with a history of ICL surgery.

Phytochemical and pharmacological investigations of Elettaria cardamomum L. were mostly focused on its essential oil and organic crude extracts with little attention on its aqueous extracts. Therefore, the current study aimed to investigate the phytochemical profile, in vitro antiobesity, and antidiabetic activities of the aqueous extract of Elettaria cardamomum L. family Zingiberaceae. UPLC-ESI-MS/MS analysis is used for the aqueous extract characterization in both ionization modes. The analysis revealed the tentative identification of forty-seven compounds based on their MS/MS fragmentation pattern and comparison with the reported data. The identified compounds include eight flavones, thirteen phenolic and nonphenolic acids, one coumarin, and nineteen anthocyanins. Moreover, the in vitro antiobesity and antidiabetic activities were also studied. The results showed that E. cardamomum L. aqueous extract inhibits pancreatic lipase and α-amylase enzyme in a concentration-dependent manner, as 1 mg/mL extract was able to inhibit pancreatic lipase and α-amylase by 62.25% ± 0.58 (IC50 = 288.75 ± 1.3 µg/mL) and 70.42% ± 1.5 (IC50 = 220.5 ± 1.3 µg/mL), respectively. Conclusively, the current study indicated that the investigated biological activities of Elettaria cardamomum aqueous extract were attributed to the existence of biologically active metabolites such as flavones, phenolic and nonphenolic acids, coumarins, and anthocyanins. Moreover, it proposed that the aqueous cardamom extract can be used as a natural potential source in different pharmaceutical preparations to protect against variable chronic disorders, especially obesity and diabetes. Deeper in vivo investigations, isolation, purification, and structural elucidation of the major active metabolites from cardamom are recommended.

In this study, we investigate the falling body problem with three different fractional derivatives. We acquire the solutions of the model by the Sumudu transform. We show the accuracy of the Sumudu transform by some theoretic results and implementations.

Nonisothermal flow through the rectangular channel on a circular surface under the influence of a screen embedded at the middle of a channel at angles θ is considered. Simulations are carried out via COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 which implements the finite element method with an emerging technique of the least square procedure of Galerkin’s method. Air as working fluid depends upon the Reynolds number with initial temperature allowed to enter from the inlet of the channel. The nonisothermal flow has been checked with the help of parameters such as Reynolds number, angle of the screen, and variations in resistance coefficient. The consequence and the pattern of the velocity field, pressure, temperature, heat transfer coefficient, and local Nusselt number are described on the front surface of the circular obstacle. The rise in the temperature and the flow rate on the surface of the obstacle has been determined against increasing Reynolds number. Results show that the velocity magnitudes are decreasing down the surface and the pressure is increasing down the surface of the obstacle. The pressure on the surface of the circular obstacle was found to be the function of the y-axis and does not show any impact due to the change of the resistance coefficient. Also, it was indicated that the temperature on the front circular surface does not depend upon the orientation of the screen and resistance factor. The heat transfer coefficient is decreasing which indicates that the conduction process is dominating over the convection process.

Background. Breastfeeding provides unsurpassed natural nutrition to the newborn and infant. It has a nearly perfect mix of food elements and vitamins that infants need to grow up. Nonetheless, the tendency for breastfeeding remains below the expected levels. Objectives. To explore the attitudes and barriers to breastfeeding among mothers in Princess Nourah Abdulrahman University (PNU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted, from January to April 2019; 399 PNU students, employees, and faculty mothers aged 18 years and above with experience of childbirth and breastfeeding were included in the study using a predesigned validated questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of four scales: sociodemographic, attitude toward breastfeeding, barriers to breastfeeding, and induced lactation knowledge. Results. The participants’ mean age was 34.1 ± 10.4 years; most (87.8%) were Saudi; 92.8% were married; 62% had a bachelor’s degree; and 43% had “enough income.” While 40% of the mothers reported >6 months “exclusive breastfeeding” for the first baby, only 34.8% did so for the last baby, and 54.5% did so for most of all babies altogether. The mothers’ parity ranged between 1 birth and 4 births in 23.5% and 17.5% of the participants, respectively. An overall score of breastfeeding attitude averaged 59.6 ± 7.3. The tendency for scoring a negative attitude to breastfeeding was significantly reported (p
