This study analyzes the species composition, length–weight relationship (LWR), condition factor, and morphometric and meristic characteristics of eleven freshwater fish species in Kota Panjang Reservoir, Indonesia. Fresh specimens were collected from September 2023 to February 2024. Results show that among the sampled species, two belong to Order Anabantiformes, three to Order Siluriformes, and six to Order Cypriniformes. The Order Siluriformes has the lowest species composition, with Hemibagrus wyckii at 3.09%, while the Order Cypriniformes has the highest, with Barbonymus schwanefeldii at 15.25%. The LWR coefficient b ranges from 1.693 to 3.151. Of the species studied, only Hemisilurus heterorhynchus (b = 2.174), Clarias teijsmanni (b = 2.046), Anabas testudineus (b = 2.375), Labiobarbus festivus (b = 2.305), and Rasbora argyrotaenia (b = 1.693) fall outside the expected range of 2.5 < b less than < 3.5. One species exhibits a positive allometric growth (+), seven show a negative allometric growth (−), and three display an isometric growth (I). Fulton's condition factor (Kc) averages between 0.73 ± 0.15 and 4.96 ± 0.63, indicating morphological variation. The allometric condition factor (Ka) ranges from 0.87 ± 0.18 to 26.25 ± 4.05, reflecting differences in resource availability and competition. Relative condition factor (Kn) values range from 1.00 ± 0.09 to 2.51 ± 0.55, indicating good growth. Morphometric analysis shows that Rasbora argyrotaenia has the smallest average total length, head length, and body depth, while Hemibagrus wyckii has the largest. The results provide new data on the LWR, condition factor, and morphometric characteristics of eleven selected freshwater fish species in Kota Panjang Reservoir, Indonesia, and offer up‐to‐date information on the remaining species in the study area. Length (to the nearest 0.01 cm) and weight (to the nearest 0.01 g) relationships (LWR) were estimated for 41 fish species, representing a total of 19 families from the Campeche Bank and the surrounding Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. All specimens were collected during three oceanographic study surveys (November 2015 –together with April 2016, August to October 2016, and July to August 2018) using a shrimp trawl net (18.3 m in length and 3.4 mesh size), for one mile (2.5 knots) in 18 locations; with one trawl haul per location for the aforementioned survey periods, respectively. North of the Yucatan Peninsula, five lobster traps (1.0 × 0.50 m in dimension, and 2.5 mesh size) were positioned at each of the 20 stations, during two annual periods (October 2016, and July 2018); traps were set for 3–4 h. Depth for the 38 locations ranged between 16 and 200 m. Syacium papillosum and Diplectrum formosum were the most abundant species. Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for four fish species (Catathyridium garmani, Pseudauchenipterus affinis, Cathorops arenatus, and Anchoviella brevirostris) captured at six sites on the Espírito Santo and Bahia continental shelf, Brazil. Fishes were sampled monthly for 13 consecutive months using a small‐meshed bottom trawl (measured 10.25 m in ground rope and 8.37 m in head rope, with 13‐ and 5‐mm 156 stretched mesh openings in the body and in the cod‐end). In the present study the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of 6 fish species which are endemic to Western Greece, caught in the natural Lake Trichonis by experimental gillnets and electrofishing were estimated. Benthic (mesh size 5–55 mm; height 1.5 m; length 30 m) and pelagic (mesh size 6.25–55 mm; height 6 m; length 27.5 m) Nordic type multimesh gillnets were used seasonally, between February 2019 and November 2019, at different depth zones (0‐57m). Electrofishing (80 Hz) conducted in the littoral zone of the lake during four samplings (2018, 2019). All the estimated LWRs were highly significant (p <.05) with high correlation coefficient (r2 ≥ 0.962). The estimated b values ranged from 3.058 to 3.344. For five of the studied species (Trichonis spined loach (Cobitis trichonica Stephanidis 1974), Trichonis blenny (Salaria economidisi Kottelat 2004), Trichonis rudd (Scardinius acarnanicus Economidis 1991), Acheloos roach (Leucos panosi (Bogutskaya & Iliadou 2006)) , Hellenic minnowroach (Tropidophoxinellus hellenicus (Stephanidis 1971)) new maximum total body lengths (TL) were recorded, while for two species (T. hellenicus and L. panosi) LWRs are presented for the first time. The present study provides the length–weight relationships (LWRs) for common estuarine fish species collected from the Yangtze River Estuary by bottom trawl from 2017 to 2021. The net port width of bottom trawl net was 6 m, and the mesh size was 20 mm. This study provides new information on LWRs for three species in FishBase. The total length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for six fish species from the lower reaches of the Jinsha River, southwest China. Specimens were seasonally collected using gillnets and drift gillnets (mesh size 2~14 cm), benthic fyke nets (mesh size 1 cm), baited hooks (stationary longline) and electricfishing (36 V/12 A, depth 3 m), in six sites from 2016 to 2019. The fish length (TL = total length, standard length (SL) as well as weight (W) were determined to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.01 g, respectively. The LWRs for Jinshaia abbreviata (Günther, 1892) and Liobagrus marginatoides (Wu, 1930) are newly reported to FishBase. New maximum length or weight values were recorded for Pseudolaubuca engraulis (Nichols, 1925), Pseudobagrus truncatus (Regan, 1913), L. marginatoides, Abbottina obtusirostris (Wu & Wang, 1931) and Pseudobagrus pratti (Günther, 1892). All regressions were highly significant, with the coefficients of determination r2 > 0.950, and b values in the LWRs equations ranged from 2.399 to 3.484. The morphological variation of the endangered catfish Rita rita was studied based on meristic, length–weight relationship (LWR), traditional (TRA) and truss (TRU) distance based morphometric analysis of 200 juveniles collected from the Old Brahmaputra, Jamuna, Meghna and Kangsa rivers. Data were subjected to Kruskal–Wallis test for meristic counts, t test for LWR, univariate ANOVA, multivariate discriminant function analysis and canonical analysis (CA) both for TRA and TRU morphometric characters to discriminate the populations. Kruskal–Wallis test denoted that only one (caudal fin rays) out of six meristic counts was significantly (p <.05) variable among the stocks. One sample t test clarified that all parameters of LWR were significantly (p <.05) differentiated in all stocks. Univariate ANOVA revealed significant (p <.001, p <.01, and p <.05) differences among the four stocks in 14 of 15 standardized TRA traits and 17 of 25 TRU distances, respectively. The first discriminant function (DF1) explained 59.4% and 68.0% of total variance, while 30.6% and 23.1% by DF2, 10.0% and 8.9% by DF3 for TRA and TRU features, respectively among the stocks. CA showed a clear separation of the stocks both for TRA and TRU measurements. The overall random assignment of individuals into their original groups was high as 78.5% for TRA and 78.0% for TRU characters, respectively, indicating that all the four stocks are highly divergent from each other. Summary: Length weight relationships (LWRs) are presented for six loach species belonging to two families of Gastromyzontidae and Nemacheilidae captured in the Baleh River Basin, Sarawak, Malaysia. One time sampling was conducted at each station representing first‐ to fourth‐order tributaries in the Baleh River Basin from April 2014 to November 2015. Loach samples were collected via electrofishing method and measured for total length to the nearest 0.1 cm and weighted to the nearest 0.1 g immediately after capture. The present study reports on length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for 37 of the most abundant fish species in the Lefini River basin, one of the largest right bank tributaries of the Congo River in the Republic of the Congo. The study area comprised 12 stations along 103 km of the river. Each station was sampled during March 2007 to August 2008 following standardized methods utilizing five monofilament gill nets of 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 mm mesh size. Sample size, lengths, weights, LWRs, 95% confidence intervals of a and b, coefficient of correlation r2 and growth type are provided for each species. Values of allometric coefficient b of the LWRs (W = aSLb) ranged from 2.556 for Synodontis nigriventris to 3.363 for Brycinus poptae. The length–weight relationships (LWRs) for seven fish species belonging to five families in the Yangtze River Estuary and its adjacent waters are presented. Cynoglossus gracilis, Cynoglossus macrolepidotus, Ctenotrypauchen chinensis, Collichthys niveatus, Ophichthusapicalis and Erisphex potti were collected monthly in 2009 using trammel nets (the size of smaller mesh net was 1.5 m × 15 m × 4 panels with mesh sizes of 2.5, 3.4, 4.3 and 5.8 cm; the size of larger‐mesh net was 2.4 m × 30 m × 4 panels with mesh sizes of 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 cm; soaking overnight). Lophiogobius ocellicauda were collected December in 2020 using shrimp trawl nets (mesh size 2.0 cm). The precision of measurement for the fish specimens is 0.1 cm total length and 0.1 g total weight. The estimated ranges of the parameters a and b for the seven fish species were from 0.0001 to 0.0289 and 2.718 to 3.541, respectively. As one of the largest Southeast Asian rivers, flowing through China, Myanmar, and Thailand, the Nujiang (Salween) River contains a unique and rich diversity of fish species. In the present study, we investigated the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of four fish species (Pteronemacheilus meridionalis, Devario shanensis, Exostoma gaoligongense, and Glyptothorax granosus) collected from the lower reaches of the Nujiang River and its tributaries (24.175N~25.842N, 98.861E~98.903E), including the Mengboluo, Kungong, Luomingba and Laowo rivers in southwest China. Specimens were collected by using drift gill nets (100 m length × 1.5 m depth or 3 m depth, mesh‐size: 1 cm‐5 cm), cast nets (6.5 m, mouth opening: 35 × 45 cm2, mesh‐size: 4 mm) , and an electric shocker apparatus (12 V, 200 Hz) from different regions in the Nujiang River basin in September and October 2019 and June and September 2020. Before the collected fishes were placed in formalin, standard length (SL) and net weight (W) were measured respectively to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.1g, respectively. Based on searches of the FishBase database and other relevant scientific literature, this study provides a new record of maximum size for P. meridionalis and LWRs for the four fish species. This study aimed to estimate the parameters of length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for six freshwater fish species that inhabit in the Xiangjiang River of Guangxi region, China. The specimens were sampled in April, July, and October 2014 and in January 2015 using electrofishing (CWB‐2000P, China; 12 V import, 250 V export) and traps (mesh size 8.5 mm; length 200 m) at five sampling sites. For each sampling site, a trap was settled on one nearshore zone of the river for 24 hr, and the electrofishing was applied within 30 min from downstream to upstream with 200 m long. Standard length was measured (be accurate to 0.1 cm) and total weight determined (be accurate to 0.1 g) after preservation in formaldehyde (10%). The values for the parameter b of the length‐weight relationships were estimated together with the coefficient of determination scores. Length‐to‐weight and length‐to‐length ratios were estimated for six cavefishes including Yunnanilus longibarbatus, Yunnanilus bailianensis, Yunnanilus jinxiensis, Oreonectes polystigmus, Paranemachilus pingguoensis, and Paranemachilus genilepis from the upper reaches of the Pearl River, Guangxi Province, China (between 106.26E, 23.14N and 111.42E, 24.85N). The fish were captured between May and October in 2018 and 2019 using trap nets (mesh size 7 mm) set in front of selected caves at 6:30–7:30 p.m. and were hauled out at 6:30–7:30 a.m. the next day. After removal, the fish were measured and weighed immediately to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.1 g, respectively. The regression parameter r2 was between.95 and.98. Summary: The length–weight relationships (LWRs) for six species were estimated. Fish were captured in the mangroves of Qinzhou Harbour, China, but also some specimens were purchased from fishermen. The sampling was undertaken monthly between May 2011 and April 2012 using seines (mesh size 5–10 mm; height 4 m; length 400 m) and traps (mesh size 8.5 mm; 35 cm2 × 10 m for one unit) at seven sampling sites. Standard length was measured (precision 0.1 cm) and weight determined (precision 0.01 g) after preservation in formaldehyde (10%). Length‐weight relationship parameter was estimated for eight coral reef‐associated finfish species from the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Bay, Eastern Indian Ocean. Fish samples were collected from the landings of trawlers with a cod‐end mesh size of 25–35 mm, operated at a depth ranging from 50–70 m off Tuticorin, Rameswaram and Thondi coasts on monthly basis between June‐2018 and July‐2019. Fish specimens were sampled by measuring total length (TL) and total weight (TW) with precision to 0.1 cm and 0.1 g respectively. This paper reports the results of pioneer study carried on the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of six deep‐sea fishes of the Southeastern Arabian Sea. We have collected samples from the survey cruise of FORV Sagar Sampada during January and December 2014. A high‐speed demersal trawler was used to collect the fishes from the depth ranging from 200 to 1000 m. The values for the parameter b of the length‐weight relationship were estimated together with Coefficient of determination scores. Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were presented for 15 fish species which caught in the East China Sea during 2009–2014. All of the samples were caught by commercial and scientific survey bottom trawl vessels. The commercial fishery survey used one‐single bottom trawl with the smallest mesh size 25 cm and light seine fishing with the smallest mesh size 38 cm, however, the scientific survey only used one‐single bottom trawl with the smallest mesh size 20 cm. The length and weight of all the fish were measured to the nearest millimeter and milligram, respectively. The application of these estimated values should be limited to the studied waters and observed length ranges. The present study describes the length‐weight (LWR) and length‐length (LLR) relationships for three indigenous fish species from the Qingshui River, southwestern China. Fishes were collected by electrofishing in May 2015 in the middle Qingshui River. Total length (TL), standard length (SL) and fork length (FL) were measured to the nearest 0.1 cm with a digital calliper and weight (W) was determined with an electronic balance to an accuracy of 0.01 g. The morphometry, length–weight and condition index of green mussel P. viridis (L.) from St Mary's Island, off Malpe, near Udupi, were examined from December 2004 to December 2005. The calculated regression equations between length and breadth and length and width for the entire study period were L=0.5071+ 0.3921 B and L=0.0179 + 0.3225 W respectively. The monthly b values of length–breadth and length–width relationships varied from 0.3636 (March 2005) to 0.4374 (December 2004) and from 0.3022 (December 2005) to 0.3466 (August 2005) respectively. The data on length–total weight ( W=0.0986 L2.9495), length–wet tissue weight ( W=0.031 L2.7173), length–dry weight ( W=0.005 L2.9337) and length–shell weight ( W=0.0351 L3.061) showed a nonlinear pattern. The coefficient of allometry ( b) values ranged from 2.7949 (April 2005) to 3.0999 (September 2005) for length–total weight relationship and from 1.5203 (August 2005) to 3.328 (March 2005) for length–dry weight relationship. The monthly mean values of the condition index varied from 5.17 (December 2004) to 7.76 (November 2005). The variation in condition index followed the breeding period and seasons. The maximum condition index (22–24) was recoded in May 2005. Based on the data on condition, it is suggested that the ideal period for commercial exploitation of Perna viridis from the Island is from March to August, when the meat yield is the highest. The hierarchical cluster analysis using complete linkage showed three major groups of biological parameters of mussels. The PCA showed a total of five components, which together accounted for 89.31% of total variance. The first component accounted for 44.08% of variance, followed by second component for 18.02% and the third component for 11.66% of variance. Length–weight relationships (LWR) were determined for three fish species captured in the Mangueira Lake, State of Rio Grande do Sul (RS/Brazil). Specimens were caught in two zones of the lake (north and south) using gill nets (5–70 mm mesh size) at two occasions: May and August 2006. The specimens of Odontesthes humensis, Odontesthes perugiae and Cyanocharax alburnus were measured for total length (TL, to the nearest 0.1 cm) and weight (to the nearest 0.01 g). Previously unavailable in FishBase, maximum total lengths presented for Odontesthes humensis and Odontesthes perugiae species in this study are new records. Was observed that the three species were following allometric growth b higher than three. The LWR data will be useful for deriving future sustainable management and conservation strategies. Abstract: In present study five different species were studied from three different rivers from northern Pakistan. Specimens were collected in the period of January to December 2017 using cast nets (10–12 mm mesh size) for Barilius, Glyptothorax and Schistura species while cast nets (mesh size 1.25 × 1.25 cm) used for Schizothorax species.
