Gas transport in shale matrix is complex due to multiple mechanisms and is difficult to be investigated by macroscopic experiment. For Gas Research Institute (GRI) method, which is the most accepted one for gas transport investigation in shale matrix, the apparatus was modified by adding an automatic gas supplement and pressurization (AGSP) system, and a numerical model considering the variation of real gas property and the Klinkenberg effect was established for data interpretation. Then, the intrinsic permeability and Klinkenberg coefficient were effectively obtained by maintaining high expanding speed of gas in apparatus and eliminating the negative effect of low filling degree of sample. By analysis, the ideal gas transports faster than real gas due to the viscosity difference at low pressure and the deviation factor difference at high pressure. For Wufeng-Longmaxi shale matrix, the positive influence of Klinkenberg effect on gas transport would attenuate with increasing pressure and is more powerful than bulk shale sample with fractures. M300 steel, as high-chromium alloy steel with strong wear resistance and corrosion resistance, is widely used in the manufacture of complex profile molds and aerospace military equipment such as missile parts. However, there are still some problems such as the contradiction between productivity and surface quality in the polishing process for M300 steel. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, surface polishing experiments on M300 steel, single-factor and orthogonal experiments, and parameters' optimization were studied. In this paper, orthogonal experiments are conducted for four selected machining parameters: grain size (A), grinding speed (B), cutting depth (C), and feed rate (D) on a grinding machine. The experiment and parameters' optimization of the ball type abrasive tool polishing M300 were investigated by a five-axis machining center, electronic analytical balance, and three-dimensional surface topographer, and the optimal process parameters and preferred intervals were optimized. The optimal parametric condition obtained for simultaneous minimization of surface roughness (Ra) and maximization of material removal rate (MRR) is as follows: grain size=#320, grinding speed=4500 r/min, cutting depth=0.4 mm, and feed rate=80 mm/s. T cell/histiocyte-rich large B cell lymphoma (THRLBCL) is predominantly a nodal disease, with extranodal involvement, such as bone marrow, spleen, and liver. However, primary THRLBCL has never been reported in the thymus in the English literature. Here we report a case of THRLBCL presenting as mediastinal mass and lymphadenopathy. Based on the frozen section diagnosis of “thymoma,” a 12 cm mass was excised. A year later she developed multiple enlarged lymph nodes and pulmonary nodules. Consultant review of the excised mediastinal mass showed scattered large atypical cells that were CD20+ and PAX-5+ and negative for pan-cytokeratin, AE1, and AE3, compatible with THRLBCL and excluding thymoma. The excised lymph nodes were replaced by diffuse infiltrate of small CD3+ lymphocytes and histiocytes with intermingled large CD20+ B lymphoma cells scattered throughout the section. A diagnosis of THRLBCL was made in lymph node, similar to previous thymic lesion. A clonal rearrangement of immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene was detected, further supporting the diagnosis. Molecular docking methods play an important role in the field of computer-aided drug design. In the work, on the basis of the molecular docking program AutoDock, we present QLDock as a tool for flexible molecular docking. For the energy evaluation, the algorithm uses the binding free energy function that is provided by the AutoDock 4.2 tool. The new search algorithm combines the features of a quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (QPSO) algorithm and local search method of Solis and Wets for solving the highly flexible protein-ligand docking problem. We compute the interaction of 23 protein-ligand complexes and compare the results with those of the QDock and AutoDock programs. The experimental results show that our approach leads to substantially lower docking energy and higher docking precision in comparison to Lamarckian genetic algorithm and QPSO algorithm alone. QPSO-ls algorithm was able to identify the correct binding mode of 74% of the complexes. In comparison, the accuracy of QPSO and LGA is 52% and 61%, respectively. This difference in performance rises with increasing complexity of the ligand. Thus, the novel algorithm QPSO-ls may be used to dock ligand with many rotatable bonds with high accuracy. Three different dark red kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgarisL.) cultivars (cvs. 85, 453 and Nickols) grown in Wisconsin were studied to investigate the correlations of the mineral contents in the seed coat and seed coat splits in the canned beans. In the canned product, highly significant differences ( P ≤ 0.01) in percentage of split seed coats were observed among the three cultivars studied. Canned cultivar 85 significantly showed fewer seed coat splits than the other two cultivars. Significant negative correlations were observed between the percentage of seed coat splits and sodium (r = − 0.89, P ≤ 0.01), calcium ( r = − 0.74, P ≤ 0.01) and iron (r = − 0.79, P ≤ 0.05) contents in the seed coat. In mobile ad hoc networks, network nodes accomplish a target task usually by cooperative packet forwarding from the source to the destination. It is a challenge to enforce their mutual cooperation for a node's self-interest. In this article, we focus on cooperative packet forwarding in a one-hop unreliable channel, which leads to packet loss and retransmission. We model the process of packet forwarding with the nodes' remaining energy and reputation value. We propose a packet-forwarding non-cooperative game model reflecting the utilities of different packet-forwarding strategies, in which an incentive mechanism is introduced to enforce cooperation of packet forwarding. Furthermore, we analyze the packet-forwarding game with replicator dynamics and derive and prove three theorems. If the conditions of the theorems are met, the evolutionarily stable strategies can be attained. Three inferences also reveal how convergence speed to evolutionarily stable states is affected by the cooperative incentive, the probability of successful packet transmissions, and the upper limit of the retransmission number. The simulation results support the proposed theorems and inferences. In addition, we show that our game model with a reputation value and the mechanism of incentive cooperation can improve the probability of successful packet transmissions, and reduce the network overhead. In order to investigate energy supply capacity and oil production contribution of near-fracture and fracture-free zone in fractured tight oil reservoirs, a series of CO2 huff-and-puff tests were designed and carried out in different experimental conditions. A fracture-matrix long-core system was established to simulate the near-fracture zone and matrix zone of tight oil reservoirs. The NMR technique was utilized to identify the microscopic remaining oil of certain core samples. The effects of fracture length, soaking time, depressurization method, and asphaltene precipitation on the oil recovery performance of CO2 huff-and-puff process were evaluated, respectively. The results indicated that the dissolution and diffusion range of the injected CO2 can be apparently increased from both macro and micro aspects through increasing the length or density of the fractures and extending the soaking time; and, during puff period, the slow depressurization method has better recovery effect on near-fracture zone, while the step depressurization method has better recovery effect on distal fracture-free matrix. After CO2 huff-and-puff process, the oil recovery of the medium pores near fracture could be close to oil recovery of the large pores, which is higher than 60%. But, in the distal matrix, the oil recovery of the medium pores was only a little higher than depletion development. Among adult-onset motor neuron diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is the most common. ALS involves the increasing loss of lower and upper motor neurons. Within a few years of onset, ALS causes patient death via progressive paralysis of respiratory muscles. However, the current drugs used to treat ALS, riluzole, edaravone, and dextromethorphan/quinidine, can only delay the progression of the disease and alleviate a small number of symptoms in some patients, and no completely effective treatment is available. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has shown significant advantages in the treatment of ALS in China and Asia; however, the mechanism of its efficacy is unclear. This review discusses the pathogenetic hypothesis of ALS in detail from the level of neurons and glial cells and uses two current experimental animal models of ALS to design experimental strategies to study TCM treatment. We aim to provide a scientific explanation of the mechanism of the effect of TCM in the treatment of ALS, which will help clinicians and research scientists to accept the theory of TCM to treat ALS and promote the development of TCM modernization. Prolyl-4-hydroxylase subunit 2 (P4HA2) is a member of collagen modification enzymes involved in the remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Mounting evidence has suggested that deregulation of P4HA2 is common in cancer. However, the role of P4HA2 in glioma remains unknown. The present study aimed to elucidate the expression pattern, oncogenic functions, and molecular mechanisms of P4HA2 in glioblastoma cells. The TCGA datasets and paraffin samples were used for examining the expressions of P4HA2. P4HA2-specific lentivirus was generated to assess its oncogenic functions. A P4HA2 enzyme inhibitor (DHB) and an AKT agonist (SC79) were utilized to study the mechanisms. As a result, we demonstrated that P4HA2 is overexpressed in glioma and inversely correlates with patient survival. Knockdown of P4HA2 inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) like phenotype of glioma cells in vitro and suppressed tumor xenograft growth in vivo. Mechanistically, expressions of a series of collagen genes and of phosphorylated PI3K/AKT were downregulated by either P4HA2 silencing or inhibition of its prolyl hydroxylase. Finally, the inhibitory effects on the migration, invasion, and EMT-related molecules by P4HA2 knockdown were reversed by AKT activation with SC79. Our findings for the first time reveal that P4HA2 acts as an oncogenic molecule in glioma malignancy by regulating the expressions of collagens and the downstream PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Subsurface migration and accumulation of oil and gas have interested researchers for a long time, but these processes may occur over very long geological periods and are difficult to observe directly, so experimental simulations are warranted. In this study, an experimental method was developed to model hydrocarbon migration in the subsurface structure. Oil migration was simulated in a sandbox model, and industrial CT scanning was used to observe both the internal geometry of the model and the oil migration pathways. In the sandbox model, a NaI solution was used to simulate water, white oil was used to simulate hydrocarbon, and fine quartz sand, glass bead, silica powder, and brown corundum were chosen to represent brittle crust, based on suitable material parameters. A NaI-saturated layered sandbox model was constructed with an along-strike basal discontinuity, which during compression allowed a simple anticline with doubly verging reverse faults to form. Oil was then released continuously at a low rate from an orifice under one limb of the anticline. Initially, the oil migrated vertically through the fault zone until it reached the top of the fault zone; it then migrated laterally along the core of the anticline, saturating a model reservoir by buoyancy and capillary force. Tool wear is a key factor that dominates the surface quality and distinctly influences the generated workpiece surface texture. In order to realize accurate evaluation of the tool wear from the generated workpiece surface after machining process, a new tool wear monitoring method is developed by fractal dimension of the acquired workpiece surface digital image. A self-made simple apparatus is employed to capture the local digital images around the region of interest. In addition, a skew correction method based on local fast Fourier transformation energy is also proposed for the surface texture direction adjustment. Furthermore, the tool wear quantitative evaluation was derived based on fractal dimension utilizing its high reliability for inherent irregularity description. The proposed tool wear monitoring method has verified its feasibility as well as its effectiveness in actual milling experiments using the material of AISI 1045 in a vertical machining center. Wireless sensor networks, as a multi-hop self-organized network system formed by wireless communication, are vulnerable to malware diffusion by breaking the data confidentiality and service availability, owing to their low configuration and weak defense mechanism. To reveal the rules of malware diffusion in the really deployed wireless sensor networks, we propose a model called Malware Diffusion Based on Cellular Automaton to describe the dynamics of malware diffusion based on cellular automaton. According to the model, we first analyze and obtain the differential equations, which can reflect the various state dynamics of sensor nodes with cellular automaton. Then, we attain the equilibrium points of the model Malware Diffusion Based on Cellular Automaton to determine the threshold for whether malware will diffuse or die out in wireless sensor networks. Furthermore, we compute the basic regeneration number of the model Malware Diffusion Based on Cellular Automaton using the next-generation matrix and prove the stability of the equilibrium points. Finally, via experimental simulation, we verify the effectiveness of the model Malware Diffusion Based on Cellular Automaton, which can provide administrators with the theoretical guidance on suppressing malware diffusion in wireless sensor networks. Paper is one of the most widely used materials, due to its application in books, packaging, and office supplies. However, conventional paper has many disadvantages, such as low tensile strength, poor resistance to water and oil contamination, lack of antigraffiti capability, and easily deformed by moisture. Therefore, we proposed a double-layer protective coating that consists of a polyurethane (PU) bottom layer, to enhance tensile strength, and a top polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite layer to enable antigraffiti and contamination-resistant capabilities. In the study, a double-layer coating was applied to conventional paper, using a simple two-step spraying method. The results showed that the prepared coating structure exhibited outstanding self-cleaning characteristics with respect to both water and oil contamination and adequately demonstrated antigraffiti capability. Moreover, the coating maintained superhydrophobic and oil-stain resistance after four months of outdoor storage. Finally, the tensile strength of the coated paper was 6.3 times as high as that of the original paper, making this coating structure a promising solution to the problems that limit paper from being more widely utilized in commercial and consumer application. Aim. Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), the precancerous lesions of gastric cancer, plays an important role in the stepwise process of gastric cancer. The ancient Chinese medicine believes in that Qi deficiency and blood stasis are involved in the pathogenesis of CAG. Weiqi decoction, a classical formula from Longhua Hospital, could supplement Qi and activate blood circulation of human beings and has been used for treating CAG in clinic over twenty years. The study aims to clarify the effect and underlying molecular mechanism of Weiqi decoction on CAG rats. Methods. Forty-eight male Wistar rats were divided randomly into six groups: control group, model group, folic acid group, and WQD-treated groups at doses of 4 g/kg, 2 g/kg, and 1 g/kg, with eight rats in each group. MNNG and saturated NaCl were used to induce CAG rat with precancerous lesion (intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia). After 40 weeks, gastric mucosal blood flow was measured using Laser Doppler Flowmetry. The pathological changes of the gastric mucosa were identified by H&E staining and AB-PAS staining. The protein expression of COX-2, HIF-1α, VEGFR1, VEGFR2, Ki67, and cleaved caspase 3 in the gastric tissues was measured by western blotting approach. Gene expression of COX-2, HIF-1α, VEGF, VEGFR1, VEGFR2, Ang-1, and Ang-2 was detected by using Quantitative PCR method. The PGE2 concentrations in serum were detected by ELISA method. The protein expression of Ki67 in gastric mucosa was also detected by immunohistochemistry. Results. Compared with control rats, atrophy and intestinal metaplasia as well as the microcirculation disturbance of gastric mucosa were induced in the stomach of CAG rats identified by the H&E and AB-PAS staining as well as microcirculation measurement, which could be significantly attenuated by WQD treatment. Moreover, compared with the control group, the protein and gene expression of COX-2, HIF-1α, VEGFR1, and VEGFR2 in gastric tissues of pylorus was obviously increased and the serum PGE2 level was significantly deceased in CAG rats, which could be significantly counteracted by WQD administration. However, the gene expression of Ang-1 and Ang-2 was not significant difference between control rats and CAG rats, and WQD also had no significant effect on the gene expression of Ang-1 and Ang-2. Furthermore, the increased cell proliferation marked by upregulated protein expression of Ki67 and decreased cell apoptosis marked by downregulated protein expression of cleaved caspase 3 in stomach of pylorus in CAG rats were obviously reversed by WQD treatment. Conclusion. WQD attenuated CAG with precancerous lesion through regulating gastric mucosal blood flow disturbance and HIF-1α signaling pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper focuses on the feature gene selection for cancer classification, which employs an optimization algorithm to select a subset of the genes. We propose a binary quantum-behaved particle swarm optimization (BQPSO) for cancer feature gene selection, coupling support vector machine (SVM) for cancer classification. First, the proposed BQPSO algorithm is described, which is a discretized version of original QPSO for binary 0-1 optimization problems. Then, we present the principle and procedure for cancer feature gene selection and cancer classification based on BQPSO and SVM with leave-one-out cross validation (LOOCV). Finally, the BQPSO coupling SVM (BQPSO/SVM), binary PSO coupling SVM (BPSO/SVM), and genetic algorithm coupling SVM (GA/SVM) are tested for feature gene selection and cancer classification on five microarray data sets, namely, Leukemia, Prostate, Colon, Lung, and Lymphoma. The experimental results show that BQPSO/SVM has significant advantages in accuracy, robustness, and the number of feature genes selected compared with the other two algorithms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
