The optimal therapeutic options, adding locoregional therapy (LRT) to systemic therapy (ST) or not, for patients with oligometastatic breast cancer (OMBC) have not been fully elucidated. Hence, we designed a retrospective observational study which enrolled patients with measurable extracranial OMBC having less than 5 metastatic lesions not necessarily in the same organ. We retrospectively reviewed a total of 199 patients diagnosed with extracranial OMBC, including 28 receiving ST followed by LRT (ST to LRT group), 44 receiving LRT followed by ST (LRT to ST group), and 127 receiving ST alone (ST alone group). After a median follow-up of 28.7 months, patients receiving both ST and LRT had a significantly better prognosis than those receiving ST alone: the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 16.3, 14.0, and 9.3 months (P < 0.001) and the median overall survival (OS) was 39.8, 70.5, and 26.7 months (P < 0.001) in the ST to LRT, LRT to ST, and ST alone groups, respectively. Sequence of ST and LRT had no significant impact on survival among patients receiving both. Further exploratory analysis identified ST plus LRT as an independent predictor for longer PFS. In conclusion, we demonstrated that adding LRT to ST was associated with survival benefits for patients with OMBC, and further prospective studies were warranted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wireless networks cover all aspects of life, along with it, network security issues have gradually emerged. In recent years, network security vulnerabilities have been exposed continuously, from WiFi to Bluetooth, people gradually realize the security of wireless networks. The purpose of this article is to solve the existing security problems and study the operation process of RC4 and Advanced Encryption Standard algorithms, and the improvement scheme is put forward. This article is based on the inherent media access control address filtering technology of wireless network card; a dynamic security model for wireless networks is proposed and constructed. Devices accessing the network use 802.1x authentication method and distribute and set security status values for each device, the authentication server uses Remote Authentication Dial in User Service. This article uses the method of virtual private network encryption network to provide an encryption layer for communication between devices and wireless networks, thus, the data in network transmission can be encrypted and protected. In this article, the structure and strategy of Remote Authentication Dial in User Service are changed, in order to ensure the high security of wireless network equipment in the connection process. In the testing phase of this article, we have tested the model in detail several times. Tests are divided into middleman and session interception tests. Objective. To explore the potential effects of methanol and its metabolite, formic acid, on rat retina function. Methods. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 3- and 7-day groups and a control. Experimental groups were given methanol and the control group were provided saline by gavage. Retinal function of each group was assessed by electroretinogram. Concentrations of methanol and formic acid were detected by GC/HS and HPLC, respectively. Results. The a and b amplitudes of methanol treated groups decreased and latent periods delayed in scotopic and photopic ERG recordings. The summed amplitudes of oscillatory potentials (OPs) of groups B and C decreased and the elapsed time delayed. The amplitudes of OS1, OS3, OS4, and OS5 of group B and OS3, OS4, and OS5 of group C decreased compared with the control group. The IPI1 of group B and IPI1-4 of group C were broader compared with the control group and the IPI1-4 and ET of group B were broader than group C. Conclusions. Both of scotopic and photopic retinal functions were impaired by methanol poisoning, and impairment was more serious in the 7-day than in the 3-day group. OPs, especially later OPs and IPI2, were more sensitive to methanol intoxication than other eletroretinogram subcomponents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The nonpeptide AVE0991 is an agonist of the angiotensin-(1-7) (Ang-(1-7)) Mas receptor and is expected to be a putative new drug for treatment of cardiovascular disease. However, the mechanisms involved in the antiproliferative effects of AVE0991 are not fully understood. We saw that the compound attenuated proliferation in an angiotensin II-induced rat vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) proliferation model.Moreover, treatment with AVE0991 (10-5 mol/L or 10-7 mol/L) significantly attenuated reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, phosphorylation of p38 MAPK, and dose-dependently (10-8 to 10-5 mol/L) inhibited Ang II-induced VSMC proliferation. Meanwhile, heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression increased in the AVE0991 + Ang II group (10-5 mol/L or 10-6 mol/L).However, the beneficial effects of AVE0991 were completely abolished when the VSMC were pretreated with A-779 (10-6 mol/L). Furthermore, treatment with the HO-1 inhibitor ZnPPIX attenuated the inhibitory effect of AVE0991 on Ang II-induced p38MAPK phosphorylation. These results suggest that AVE0991 attenuates Ang II-induced VSMC proliferation in a dose-dependent fashion and that this effect is associated with the Mas/HO-1/p38 MAPK signaling pathway.
