Background: Third molars positions and eruption patterns tend to be unpredictable in most cases. Substantial diversity exists globally among modern human races in the prevalence of third molar impaction. Aims and Method: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and pattern of third molar impaction amongBangladeshi adults. Digital panoramic radiographs of 5923 patientswith the mean age of 35.90 ± 10.76 years olds were retrieved from database and evaluatedusingPlanmecaRomexis software. Demographics, gender and sidedifferences wereanalysed using SPSSversion 26.0. Result:Approximately, 46.2% of the adult population had third molar impaction where significant impaction occurred in the mandible compared to maxillary arch. However, no significant differences were observed among gender and side distribution. The most common type of third molar angulation in the maxilla and mandible was distoangular (55.9%) and mesioangular (36.6%), respectively. Comprehension of demographic and morphological variations in third molar impaction will lead to an understanding of third molar impaction assessment, which will aid in understanding the evolutionary origins of an important condition adversely affecting modern peoples. Background: A unique clinical challenge presents when dealing with a compromised first permanent molars with bilateral posterior crossbite, severe crowding and impacted maxillary canines with skeletal class II base malocclusion patient. Case presentation: 14-year-old female patient had dental Class II skeletally, complicated with increase overjet, badly destructed permanent mandibular 1st molars constricted maxillary arch. Extraction of 1st molarsfollowed by expansion have been planned to relieve crowding. Introduction: Patient is a 14 years old Chinese boy presented with skeletal Class II with incompetent lips, severe dental Class II malocclusion and severe crowding complicated with both sides mesio-angular impacted of mandibular 2nd molars. Treatment Plan: Growth modification using functional appliance for skeletal Class II correction with maxillary arch expansion and correction of mandibular plane angle by intrusion of maxillary molars. Extraction of lower 1st premolars and 2nd molars on both sides was carried out in conjunction with fixed orthodontic alignment and to facilitate of spontaneous eruption of lower third molar. Midline correction was followed by space closure and finishing and detailing. Results: Alignment of upper arch in the regained space with maxillary expansion without any extraction was done. Anterior maxillary dentitions were retracted using Temporary Skeletal Anchorage Devices (TSADs). In lower arch 1st molars were mesially protracted by using class II elastics. 3rd molars spontaneously erupted in the extraction space of 2nd molar. Midline corrected with good facial profile and competent lips. Conclusions: Timely execution of expert treatment plan can bring cost effective and time saving results with minimum loss. Background: Patients presenting with BIMC are relatively rare and the aim of the Orthodontist is to create a dentition that is functionally and aesthetically acceptable. The BIMC may result in altered facial appearance with malocclusion and psychological distress in some individuals. Case presentation: The present case report describes a 17-year-old female patient with nonsyndromic, BIMC. Clinical and CBCT examinations revealed BIMC. Following open surgical exposure treatment planning, the patient was treated with orthodontic fixed mechanotherapy to correct BIMC and other problems. Slow force mechanics with passive self-ligating MBT 0.022 orthodontic braces were used. Results: Open surgical exposure and active orthodontic treatment was completed in 18 months. The management of BIMC requires multidisciplinary approach to achieve better aesthetics and improved occlusal function. Objectives: This study aimed to assess laser assisted orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) among subjects undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment (FOT) of four different treatment modalities (TM). Materials and Methods: Following consort flow diagram, a total of 32 subjects randomly allocated in to 4 different group based on TM. Group A (GA): 8 subjects, FOT with self-ligating bracket (SLB) + low laser irradiation (LLLI), Group A (GB): 8 subjects, FOT with self-ligating bracket + Non-LLLI, Group C (GC): 8 subjects, FOT with conventional bracket (CB) + low laser irradiation (LLLI), Group D (GD): 8 subjects, FOT with CB + Non-LLLI. Results: Clinical photographs and diagnostic CBCT has been taken. Clinical observation of OTM, baseline, 1-day and 28-day afterFOT in all TM groups has been assessed by single calibrated specialist. Among 4 TM groups, best OTM results observed in GA and the lesser OTM observed in GD. Conclusion: Among all 4 TM groups,1-month after FOT GA revealed promising benefit in relation to OTM. Background: The aim of the present study was to do an overview of the arch dimension for various populations. Also, to evaluate the various type of measurement methods and sexual disparities. Two reviewers independently performed the selection process and the quality of studies was assessed. Method: Studies published form January 2000 until October 2015 were identified in electronic databases: Pubmed, Scopus, Science direct, Web of Science, Medpilot and Medline using keywords. Criteria used included: observational studies, Arch size measured, Permanent dentition, Arch dimension investigated via plaster and digital dental models, measurement via calipers and computers software's. Result: The forest plots showed the continuous trend for the greater arch dimension for male in relation to female. The current overview showed the arch dimension and its disparities for various populations. Conclusion: The various methods to assess arch dimension should be carefully considered and well conducted as part of the clinical assessment of orthodontic treatment, since arch dimension could influence the diagnosis and treatment planning of orthodontist. Background: Different types of impression materials and different procedures or methods have been introduced in Dentistry for preparing dowel crown. Materials and Methods: Injection technique with silicone impression materials are being extensively used by the materials to get an accurate impression. But whether this material neither ensures similar accuracy nor produces absolute accuracy. This study evaluate silicone impression material was efficient enough to produce nearest to actual intraradicular surface reproduction by assessing the void formation and dimensional accuracy. Background: Low power laser therapy or low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is relatively novel and has demonstrated tremendous advantages in dentistry which includes reduction in post-surgical pain as well as swelling and also accelerates wound healing and helps in bone regeneration etc. Objective: This systematic review aimed to find out whether low-level laser therapy promotes tooth extraction wound healing. Materials and Methods: Literature was searched from January 2010 till 31 December 2020 using PubMed, Scopus, and Web of science. Further findings were done from gray literature google scholar, and Research Gate using Low-level laser therapy, photobiomodulation, wound healing, extraction socket healing, cold laser, biostimulation, low-level laser irradiation, and phototherapy. Any article that reported effects of low-level laser therapy on wound healing was included. 19 studies fulfilled the criteria and were included for this systematic review. Quality assessment was done for each article using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) checklist for analytical cross-sectional studies. Results and Discussion: Throughout the search, approximately 22,808 relevant articles were found. Out of which 50 articles fulfilled the selection criteria. 31 articles were excluded because that did not fulfill inclusion criteria. 19 articles were included for this systematic review that compared the effects of low level-laser therapy on wound healing after extraction of a tooth. Conclusion: Overall, this systematic review concluded that low-level laser therapy enhanced the process of wound healing after extraction of teeth but most of the research was conducted on animals. Background:Hypertension is a public health problem used to describe high blood pressure where the blood vessels are persistently increased in force. According to WHO, hypertension has been reported in one in four men and one in five women. Worldwide, hypertension is a common health problem that affects 20-30% of the adult population and more than 5-8% of pregnancies, and it is frequently curable when detected and treated early enough. Objective: This paper aims to validate the factor associatedwith hypertension status among patients with dyslipidemia and type 2 diabetes mellitus. This could help to improve the prediction of the probability of hypertension among studied patients. Material and Methods: 39 patients were recruited from the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). In this retrospective study, advanced computational statistical modeling methodologies were used to evaluate data descriptions of several variables such as hypertension, marital status, smoking status, systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, alanine transferase, alkaline phosphatase, and urea reading. The R-Studio software and syntax were used to implement and test the hazard ratio. The statistics for each sample were calculated using a combination model that included bootstrap and multiple logistic regression methods. Results: The statistical strategy showed R demonstrates that regression modeling outperforms an R-squared. It revealed that the hybrid model technique better predicts the outcome when data is partitioned into a training and testing dataset. The variable validation was determined using the well-established bootstrap-integrated MLRtechnique. Background: The goal of this study is to illustrate an optimum variable selection method using established Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) models and to validate the variable using Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network (MLP) models. Initially, all selected variables will be passed through the bootstrap methodology, and they were screened for significant relationships. Objective: The goal of this work is to analyze and construct a model for the factor linked with total crime cases by combining an Applied Linear Regression Model (ALRM) and a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP). Material and Methods: Around 200 data was simulated to build the methodology. Advanced computational statistical modeling methodologies were used to evaluate data descriptions of several variables in this retrospective study, including the total victim, gender, age, marital status, social class, adult in the household, children in household, burglary's victim, sexual's victim, victim's report, and household location. The case study was developed and implemented using the R-Studio program and syntax. Results: The statistical method demonstrated that regression modeling surpasses R-squared and mean square error test in most situations. Researchers observed that when data is divided into two datasets for training and testing, the hybrid model approach performs significantly better at predicting the experiment's outcome. When it came time to determine variable validity, the well-established bootstrap-integrated MLR approach was applied. Objective:The aim of this systematic scoping review is to explore the data regarding dental anomalies related to oral clefts. Methodology:A systematic literature search was conducted by two independent reviewers focusing on all types of dental anomalies in cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients. A search string was developed and searched through the PubMed and Scopus database to identify the relevant articles. Identification for additional relevant studies was performed through a manual search of the reference lists of the selected articles. Each selected article was then qualitatively analyzed using Atlas's software. Results and Discussion: Eight studies that stated the prevalence of dental anomalies in CLP patients were included and no language restrictions were imposed. Despite lack of standardization in reporting, dental anomalies regarding the tooth form or shape, number of teeth, structural disturbances, and eruption sequence were noted. Conclusion:Among cleft group, agenesis was found as the most common dental anomaly with lateral incisor being most commonly involved. The use of standardized classifications and protocols to report cleft types and dental anomalies will be beneficial for clinicians and researchers for identification and better management of the conditions. Objective: The purpose of this study is to find propotion of fractured orbital walls in the maxillofacial trauma cases and its associated maxillofacial fracture treated in the Oral Maxillofacial Clinic Oral Maxillofacial ward and operation theatre of Hospital USM in Kelantan, Malaysia. Materials and methods: From July 2013 to June 2018, records of patients who sustained maxillofacial fractures and presented them to the Accident and Emergency Department, Oral Maxillofacial Clinic, Hospital USM were reviewed, recorded, and analyzed. There are 294 patients whose data has been collected because they met the inclusion criteria. Each patient with a complete medical record was reviewed. Data were collected under the variables: Zygomatic Complex, Zygomatic Arch, Nasal, Maxillary Sinus, Le Fort I, Le Fort II, Le Fort III, Orbital Wall, Alveolar Process, Symphysis of Mandible, Condyle of Mandible, Ramus of Mandible, Maxillary Bone and Mandibular Bone of maxillofacial fracture. The fractured orbital walls in these cases was reviewed. At the first stage, all the selected variables will be screened for their important clinical point of view. The SPSS software version 26.0 was used to determine all possible factors contributing to orbital wall fracture. Results: This was a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of the medical records of 294 patients with maxillofacial fracture treated in the Oral Maxillofacial Clinic and Oral Maxillofacial ward, Hospital USM. There were 228 (77.3%) men and 66 (22.4%) women included in this study. The most common age range is 11-20 years (39.8%), 21-30 years (26.2%). Maxillary Bone Fracture (0.371; p <0.05), Maxillary Sinus Fracture (0.180; p <0.05), Zygomatic Arch Fracture (0.127; p <0.05) were found to be the most affected site, which had a positive correlation with an orbital fracture of the maxillofacial trauma cases. A path analysis based on the Spearman correlation was developed by taking into account significant correlations at the level of 0.05. Conclusion: Using the matrix spearman correlation, multiple response analysis (MRA), path analysis, we discovered a clear connection between orbital wall fracture and several other factors. This discovery will aid in the understanding of the most common fracture and the causes of orbital wall fracture in maxillofacial trauma. The Accelerated osteogenic Orthodontics (AOO) is an emerging contemporary approach for rapid movement of teeth. The acceptable length of orthodontic treatment is contested, however the need for speeding appears to be universally agreed upon. Various surgical adjuncts have been developed to expedite orthodontic tooth movement and to retain optimal occlusal results while shortening treatment timeframes. Despite this, a variety of crucial treatment decisions and approaches may have a greater impact. The purpose of present case study is to suggest a minimally invasive novel orthodontic Loop-guided Piezocision (OLP) approach for quick movement of teeth, without reflection of the flap, with higher precision and minimum postoperative problems. This technique may aid in preventing orthodontic relapse, broaden spectrum of malocclusion correction. Objective: The mandible is the strongest bone in the human skeleton. The uses of the morphological characters of such jawbone is a predominantly used approach in forensic dentistry to determine the gender of a severely damaged cadaver. Distinguishing sex, race and personal stamp of the unknown skeleton still has been the most challenging job in forensic dentistry. This research aimed to clarify the gender of Babylon population by mental foramen (MF) assessment using Orthopantomography (OPG). Method: The present retrospective study was conducted on 120 digital panoramic radiographs. The radiographs were of 60 male and 60 female dentate patients aged between 18-62 years. Morphometric analysis was performed on bilateral mental foramina. Lines were drawn from superior (S) and inferior (I) borders of the foramen and perpendiculars to the lower (L) border of the mandible (S-L and I-L lines respectively). Data were distributed and subjected to statistical analysis using the Independent-Samples T test. Results: The average values of S-L and I-L were significantly higher in males than in females (p<0.05). Conclusion: The distance from the MF to the lower border of the lower jaw reveals gender differences in Babylon city population. Findings also suggest that OPG could be a useful technique for gender identification from the remnants of the human body skeleton. There was a statistical significant difference in the average S-L distance and average I-L distance between males and females at 3 different age groups (young adult, middle age and old age groups), except in the average I-L distance at the middle age group (p<0.05). Introduction: The end product of purine metabolism in humans is uric acid (UA). Although uric acid can function as either an antioxidant or an oxidant depending on the surrounding environment, the chemical environment can also impact uric acid.The uric acid level in the serum can predict the development of diabetic nephropathy in type 1 diabetes. Objective: This study aims to determine factors that are perhaps having an association with acid uric. Method: Variables selection is basedon clinical importance. The most significant variable will be assigned and analyzed using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) through multilayer feed-forward and contour plot. Results: Through the architecture of MLFF with two hidden layers, it was found that Creatinine level, Urea level, Systolic Blood Pressure reading, Waist circumference reading, Gender play an essential role toward uric level with an accuracy of 97.7% and the predicted mean squared error (MSE.net) is 0.005. The combination of the selected variable showing the highest significance in predicting the level of uric acid. Conclusion: These findings offer useful future management action plans for patients with diabetes.By controlling these four variables can improve the level of health among diabetic patients. Background: COVID-19 outbreak is being studied throughout the world. Adding more analysis to date strengthening the information about the illness. Here, we analysis the data of Malaysian Ministry of Health from February 15, 2020 until January 10, 2021 was analysed using linear regression model statistical analysis with aim to forecast the trend. Materials and Methods: This study reviewed the data by Malaysia Ministry of Health from February 15, 2020, until January 10, 2021. Linear regression model statistical analysis was used for predictive modelling. The forecasting of the linear trend of the Covid-19 outbreak prediction is purposed to estimate the number of confirm cases according to the number of recoveries patients. Results: Malaysia is currently anticipating another lockdown restriction as new confirmed case of COVID-19 hit new record high. The cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases in MCO predicted a sharp increase. At the first of March, 2021, the predicted cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases are 319,477 cases. Conclusions: Covid-19 cases projected to 315766 by end of February 2021 with 3000-4000 daily cases predicted. Paederus dermatitis is a very painful vesicular condition which is caused by the extremely potent toxin “Pederin” released from an insect calledPaederusfuscipes but commonly known as Charlie. A 26 years old woman presented with a sudden onset of neuralgia, arthralgia of left jaw, fever, nausea and fatigue with generalized pain radiating to the neck and lower jaw as well as itch-like sensation on their left arm associated with acute inflammation which began 24-48 hours prior. The patient refused to go to the hospital due to the current pandemic situation but instead updated us daily on her conditions with photographic changes of the arm until complete resolution of symptoms. This case report accounts for the daily sequential changes experienced by a patient after severe reaction to an exposure of pederin with photographs of the affected site. While the painful lesion and all systemic conditions resolved spontaneously over time, a scar was left to mark the unpleasant period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The purpose of the literature review was to appraise the evidence that an early physiotherapy intervention helps to prevent the surgery in selective musculoskeletal disorders. A search of Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed was carried out utilizing the terms (“physiotherapy”, “surgery” OR “exercise, surgery” OR “rehabilitation”, “surgery”). Methods: The article titles and abstracts were screened for eligibility and included in the review. The recent literature evidently emphasized that physiotherapy has opted in selective musculoskeletal problems to avoid and delay surgeries. Results: Regardless of recommended conservative treatment option and effectiveness of physiotherapy, a massive gap can be observed between its evidence and practice. Conversely, overuse of diagnostic imaging, surgeries, and medications is present in clinical practice. In most of the clinical problems the long-term outcomes were reported the same with surgical and physiotherapy intervention. Likewise, patients can also get the advantage of better clinical outcome and cost-effectiveness with physiotherapy as compared to surgical intervention. Conclusion: The cost-effectiveness is an important factor in low-income countries where economic aspects of health care are highly considered. Background: The ratio between 2nd and 4th digit length is termed as hormonal fingerprint and is used as an indirect marker in many medical diseases.Dental studies pertaining to the importance of hormonal fingerprint on oral health are very sparse. Aim and objectives: To study the correlation of dental caries and malocclusion with hormonal fingerprints. Materials and Methods: A total of 100 children of age group 7-15 years and both genders were randomly selected and included in the present study. The hormonal fingerprint (2D:4D ratio) wasdone by measuring the length ratio of the index and ring finger with the help of digital vernier caliper. Caries assessment wascarried out using standard mouth mirrors and Community Periodontal Index probes. WHO assessment form (1997) was followed for assessment of dentition status and treatment need.Occlusal characteristics evaluated were molar relation, anterior and posterior crossbite, open bite, deep bite and lower anterior crowding. The subjects were divided into high 2D:4D, equal 2D:4D digit ratio and low 2D:4D. All the measurements were done by two investigators. The data collected were tabulated and statistically analyzed using Chi-square and ANOVA test. Results: Out of 100 children, 34% were males and 66% were females. Most of the participants were 7-8 years old (12 males and 15 females). Majority of the participants (87% for the right hand and 80% for left hand) had low 2D:4D ratio, only 6% for right and 11% for the left hand had high 2D:4D ratio and the remaining had equal 2D:4D ratio. Statistically insignificantcorrelation between 2D:4D ratio and deft/DMFT score and occlusal status of an individualwere found. Conclusion:The insignificant results of 2D:4D ratio with all the parameters assessed validates that hormonal fingerprints could not be employed as an early predictor of caries and malocclusion in an individual. The decision forutilization of a space of a retained deciduous molar to alleviate crowding in late mixed dentition is one of the critical aspects in orthodontic treatment.Hence, the aimof the treatment hereis to use the extraction spaces properly to relieve severe crowding and align both the arches to the point where a stable overjet/overbite exist. This case report presenting a 13-year-old female adolescent with severe crowding in both upper and lower jaw and a convex profile. Although she was initially anxious to extract her teeth to treat her case but also she was looking for desirable results. The case was later treated in a conventional orthodontic approach with extraction ofthree 1st premolars. It was quite challenging to make the best use of the space of missing lower right 2nd premolar after extraction of deciduous second molar on that sideto relieve severe crowding. However; at the end of the treatment, the patient expressed satisfaction with the results- proper bite, smile and most importantly esthetics. Background: This research was planned to search for a potential of modified hydrothermal nanotitania extract in inhibiting the growth of bacteria commonly known in medical field. Materials and methods: In this test, suspension of modified hydrothermal nanotitania extract (together with 0.01%, 0.03% and 0.05% silver) and undoping (positive control contains TiO2 and no silver) were prepared by mixing of TiO2 in Mueller Hinton Broth (MH) agar. The platecontaining the bacteria and TiO2 were observed after 24 hour, 48 hours and 72 hours incubation at 37°C for any growth of bacteria. Results: There was no growth of Escherichia coliin the plates containing the bacteria and modified hydrothermal nanotitania extract except in the control media. Conclusions: The finding suggested the modified hydrothermal nanotitania extractioninterfered the growth of Escherichia coli. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: For making denture in maxillectomy cases is very difficult and challenging to get the retention to make the denture stable in its position during functioning. This case report describes a clinical condition in which patient was treated with a maxillary obturator with zygomatic suspension wiring due to insufficient retention in the palate. Materials and Methods: A 63-year-old patient had gone to a subtotal maxillectomy because following myofibroblastic sarcoma andwas issued with bilateral circum-zygomatic wiring hooks immediately after surgery. The patient had less than a third of their alveolar ridge remaining and did not provide sufficient retention on its own. The wires were used for the retention because natural retention could not get due to inadequate maxillary ridge. While the denture was being fabricated, a temporary feeding plate was provisioned to the patient. Counter hooks were implemented on the definitive upper denture, posterior to molars, to attach to the zygomatic suspension hook. Final upper denture was further reinforced with denture adhesive on it. A lower denture was also fabricated for the said case following conventional protocols of jaw relation determination. Results: The obturator provided with adequate seal and leak proof phonetics. The zygomatic wiring coupled with denture adhesive were sufficient to provide adequate retention. Conclusion: Zygomatic suspension wires coupled with counter hooked obturator prosthesis provide rehabilitation of patients with palatal defects with inadequate maxillary arch for retention.However long-term repeated use of such wires might expose the patient to secondary infections and should be kept in consideration Clinical Significance: Circum-zygomatic suspension wiring provide sufficient retention to sustain the upper obturator prosthesis in place. Introduction: Probiotics are well-defined as live microorganisms that usefully affect the host and probiotic bacteria have been used intensely. For years to target gastrointestinal disease by rebalancing the compound microflora. Besides the gastrointestinal tract also the oral cavity is highly colonized by bacteria and many different bacterial species are part of the microbiota in the mouth, as it offers ideal conditions for bacteria with a stable temperature, moist surface with a relatively stable pH and regular supply of nutrients. Probiotic bacteria like Lactobacillus are a promising treatment strategy for oral disease with a microbiological etiology. To gain better results, many researchers that study and emphasize specific methods been tried to build a new or improved methodology. Objectives: The aimed of this study is to improve the performance of exponential growth by adding bootstrap and fuzzy techniques (Integrated exponential regression method). The aim of the research work is to develop a comprehensive framework for an integrated exponential regression model. Material and Methods: The data were taken from the present data available from the recently done by a researcher for nurturing selected microorganisms. The gathered data will be used for the exponential modeling and the efficiency of the model will be compared accordingly due to the predicted interval from the exponential regression method and an integrated exponential regression method. This paper also provides the algorithm for the prediction of cell growth and inferences. Results: The result shows that the average width for the exponential regression model was 19.2228 while an integrated exponential regression method was 0.0075. The average width of integrated exponential regression was smaller than the exponential regression. This clearly shows that the integrated exponential regression method is more efficient than exponential regression technique. Background: the scientific knowledge of dentist regarding the diagnosis of common oral lesions may vary. Oral aphthous ulceration, oral lichen planus, pyogenic granuloma and oral irritating fibroma are common oral lesions. Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge of Iraqi dentist about the ability to diagnose the common oral lesions. Materials and methods: A two hundred and seventy-eight dentist from both the health and education sectors were including in the questionnaire. The questionnaire included four pictures of common oral lesion that the dentist might see during his daily work and the question was (what is the most probable diagnosis?) Results: The overall assessment of knowledge of dentist regarding the four oral lesions is shown in table (6) with the higher mean of score for the diagnosis of aphthous ulceration (1.75), while the least mean of score was for the diagnosis of lichen planus (1.61). The total mean of scores of the knowledge of all dentists for the diagnosis of the four oral lesions was moderate (1.66). Conclusions: This study showed that the Iraqi dentist’s knowledge about the diagnosis of lichen planus, pyogenic granuloma and fibroma was moderate knowledge, while for the diagnosis of aphthous ulceration the assessment was good and better than other lesions. Purpose: One of the extremely important mandibular anatomical landmarks is the Mandibular Foramen (MF). Knowledge the preciseposition of MF is essential forramus surgical operations, administration of mandibular local anesthesia, and implants placement. This research was carried out to examine the precise location of MF in addition toevaluate the differences of its position between the right and left sides of the mandible and between males and females. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study based on CT gathered from CT database presented at the Radiology Department, Hospital of Hilla. Subjects were Iraqi adults with no craniofacial abnormalities. A total of 60 head and neck scans were collected. CT images were of high resolution and reconstructed into 3D. Analyses were carried out by using MIMICs v7.0 (Materialised Corporation, Belgium), on each side of the mandible, seven landmarks were chosen to determine the distances from these landmarks to MF. Results: The descriptive statistic alanalysis containing means, standard deviations, minimum and maximum values for each variable were calculated for right and left mandible separately in addition to males and females. There were no differences noticed between the right and left measurements for both genders. Most males measurements tended to have larger measurements than females. Conclusion: the MF location was highly variable amongst the Iraqi subjects. In both sides of the mandible, the MF position was more or less symmetrical and its position also displayed evidence of sexual dimorphism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Backgrounds: The mutagenic properties of modified hydrothermal nanotitania extract were carried out using the Ames test (genotoxicity). Materials and methods: The Ames test was performed on Salmonella strains (TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537 and TA 102) which contain mutations in several genes with and without S9 metabolic activation from rat liver using the standard assay. The materials were extracted in distilled water and the serial dilutions of concentration ranging from 313 to 5000 µg/mLwere used after the incubation period of 24 h at 37° C. Results: These results suggested that all tested concentrations of the material extracts did not produce mutagenic effect in all the strains tested. Conclusions: Findings from this study showed that the modified hydrothermal nanotitania extract was non-mutagenic under present conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective:This case report describes the rehabilitation process of a case of acquired eye defect with patient specific or custom made ocular prosthesis for a patient who had her left eye surgically enucleated as a treatment step for retinoblastoma. Method: After primary evaluations, an intraorbital impression was taken while reproducing natural eye movements to ensure accuracy of the impression. The impression was cast and a transparent acrylic conformer was made from the mould in the cast. The conformer was adjusted as required and Iris position determined. The conformer was then used to cast the final custom ocular prosthesis. The patient was then instructed on its usage and maintenance. Result: A custom made ocular prosthesis was provided to the patient and it was to her satisfaction. Conclusion: Custom made ocular prosthesis is highly recommended in rehabilitation of facial defects of a co-operative patient as it does not have most of the limitations which a stock ocular prosthesis does. In any surgical procedure, proper consideration to anatomical structures along with their precise position is of utmost importance. One such anatomical region in anterior mandible is anterior loop of mental nerve. The dental procedure carried out in anterior mandible can lead to neurosensory disturbances if this loop is injured. The presence of anterior loop have been made using conventional imaging modalities like panoramic and periapical radiography, however, limitations of two-dimensional imaging results in either over- or underestimation of the actual size making its use restricted. Cone Beam Computed Tomography is a gold standard threedimensional imaging modality that allows generating multi-planar slices of an area of interest; its accuracy for analysis and linear measurements of craniofacial structures have been confirmed by several studies. This paper highlights the role of accurate and thorough assessment of the inter-foraminal region and anterior loop of the mental nerve prior to any surgical procedure especially in anterior mandible to avert any neurological complications. The prime purpose of the study was to assess the quality of life of physically disabled adults attending at rehabilitation center in Dhaka city, Bangladesh and to determine the relationship of the type of disability, educational level and relationship with the family with quality of life.Participants were 500 adults with physical disabilities. Thestructured questionnaire consist of WHOQOL-BREF were used as research instruments. When dividing the participants into three groups according to the level of total QOL score, in physical domain majority (96.2%) had fair level QOL score. In psychological domain veryfew(5.4%) had poor level and more than half (53.2%) had fair level QOL score and rest of them had good QOL score (41.4%). more than one third (37.2%) and nearly half(47.0%) had fair and good level respectively whereas rest of them (15.8%) had poor level of QOL in Social domain. In environmental domain a minimum number(3.8%) had poor QOL score but almost half (43.6%) and more than half (52.6%) had fair and good level of QOL score. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of WHOQOL-BREF was adequate (0.914) for all 26 questions and for each domain the values are: Physical health domain (0.812), Psychological health domain (0.831), Social relationship domain (0.68) and Environmental health domain (0.78). Statistically significant correlations present between all domains. Mean and percentage of satisfaction rating in DOM1, DOM2 and DOM3 and DOM4 was higher in males than females. There were significant differences found in WHOQOL-BREF score between different education level group, different marital statusgroup,different employment statusgroup, differentincome level group, relationship with family, utilization of primary rehabilitation in four domains and total of WHOQOL-BREF (P < 0.05). multiple linear regression observed that education level and utilization of primary rehabilitation center is most important factor that affects QOL of study population in total and four domains of WHOQOL.The findings from this study confirm that the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire is a reliable instrument to measure quality of life in disable adults. From the data, it appears that Bangladeshi disable adults have WHOQOL-BREF scores that might be considered to indicate a fair level of quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Auricular deformity can be emotionally traumatising and affects social behavior of an individual. In such cases, aesthetically acceptable prosthesis serves as a viable alternative technique to surgical reconstruction. Case description: Impression of the auricular defect was taken by light and regular body of poly vinyl siloxane impression material. Wax sculpting was challenging due to the bulgy remnant of the defected ear. The wax pattern was made very thin to accommodate and mask the remnant without compromising the aesthetic. Trial on the patientwas done for correction of the contours, angulation, height and width according to the normal contralateral ear. The intrinsic coloration of a Room Temperature Vulcanizing silicone was done and poured in a custom-made three-piece mold. Before the final issue of the auricular prosthesis, extrinsic coloration was done based on the surrounding area of the defect. Discussion: Fabrication of adhesive retained prosthesis is challenging in patients with large deformed soft tissue who refuse to undergo surgical repair. A modified wax sculpting was done to overcome this challenge. Medical grade silicone was the choice of material because of its flexibility, biocompatibility and life like appearance. Conclusion: Replacement of missing ear is a difficult and multi-step task in which extensive array of materials and techniques need to be employed.
