Abstract

We demonstrated a cost-effective phase-modulation-enhanced duobinary modulation scheme to improve the SPM tolerance using only one modulator. After 230 km of transmission, compared with no phase modulation, we observed a 12 dB sensitivity improvement. (2 pages)

We propose a novel technique to generate ASK labeled RZ-DPSK payload using only one Mach-Zehnder modulator. The new scheme is more cost-effective, and with 2-dB better label sensitivity and almost the same payload performance. (2 pages)

The paper presents the architecture/experimentation of a 10-Gb/s QoS-enabled almost-all-optical packet switching system (QOPS) for metro WDM networks.
