Abstract

In this paper, we have proposed and experimentally prepared an improved gas pressure sensing device. It is mainly constructed by a short hollow silica tube segment and a CO2-laser-induced long period grating in hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber (HC-PBF). To effectively enhance the interaction between light in the air-core of HC-PBF and external surroundings, thus to achieve the best possible gas pressure sensitivity, a microchannel is introduced in the middle of the hollow silica tube segment with the femtosecond laser processing technique. The corresponding gas pressure experiments demonstrate that the resonant wavelength of the LPFG shows a blue shift up to −1.3 nm/MPa. Moreover, the temperature response sensitivity of this sensor is as low as 5.3 pm/°C and enable it possible as a temperature-insensitive gas pressure measure apparatus.

Abstract

Etching process related material and mechanical changes on solid-core singlemode polymer optical fiber (POF) and their influence on the characteristic properties of polymer fiber Bragg gratings (PFBGs) are studied. A poly(methyl methacrylate)-based POF is etched to different diameters, and it is experimentally demonstrated that etching can lead to a change in the Young's modulus of the fiber. It is found that etching process induced material changes of the polymer fiber can enhance the reflectivity and inherent sensitivity of PFBGs. It is demonstrated that gratings based on etched POF exhibit higher reflectivity with a shorter exposure time compared with unetched ones. Highest reflectivity of 98.54% is observed within 7 seconds of exposure for a diameter of 85 μm. The stability of fabricated Bragg gratings is also studied. By tailoring the etching diameter of POF, Bragg gratings with high sensitivity and high reflectivity can be fabricated.

44. Multiscale Deep Graph Convolutional Networks for Intelligent Fault Diagnosis of Rotor-Bearing System Under Fluctuating Working Conditions.

Abstract

The rotor-bearing system is widely used in various high-end electro-hydraulic equipment, which provides specific support, rotation, and other integral functions. However, the fluctuating working conditions of the rotor-bearing system will cause more significant disordered fluctuations in the measured signals. This article proposes a new algorithm called multiscale deep graph convolutional networks (MS-DGCNs) to alleviate this problem. The designed MS-DGCNs algorithm combines a new multiscale intra-class fine coarse-grained processing and multiscale graph convolution kernels. Accordingly, an intelligent fault diagnosis method based on MS-DGCNs for the rotor-bearing system under fluctuating conditions is designed to learn more feature representations and accuracy. First, a sliding window is employed to divide the collected vibration signals into a series of subsignals. The multiscale signal processing is performed to obtain different degrees of the fine-coarse time series. Then, a graph convolution with the multiscale convolution kernel is designed. Finally, the soft-max classifier is combined for intelligent fault diagnosis. The experimental results of the double-span rotor-bearing system under fluctuating conditions well demonstrate that the method has the higher accuracy and generalization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aiming at electric power scenarios, deploy visual data set capabilities, high-definition intelligent video analysis basic algorithm libraries and visual cognitive atomic capabilities sets on the cloud-edge collaboration architecture to build an intelligent detection system for transmission and distribution services, which improves the ability, speed of high-definition video analysis, recognition, and increase the accuracy of smart grid detection.

Abstract

In this article a Vernier effect based sensor is analyzed and demonstrated experimentally in a tri-microfiber coupler (Tri-MFC) and polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) loop interferometer (Tri-MFC-PMF) to provide ultrasensitive refractive index and temperature sensing. The main novelty of this work is an analysis of parameters of the proposed Tri-MFC-PMF with the objective of determining the conditions leading to a “strong” Vernier effect. It has been identified by simulation that the Vernier effect is a primary factor in the design of Tri-MFC-PMF loop sensing structure for sensitivity enhancement. It is furthermore demonstrated experimentally that enhancing the visibility of the Vernier spectrum in the Tri-MFC-PMF allows to achieve an ultrahigh refractive index and temperature sensitivity with improved measurement accuracy. Specifically it is shown that small values of the total phase difference ( π / 16 + N π )∼( π / 4 + N π ), where N is an integer, accumulated over the PMF loop and Tri-MFC loop result in a “strong” Vernier effect. Experimentally an ultrahigh refractive index sensitivity of -20588 nm/RIU and temperature sensitivity of 0.019 nm/°C are demonstrated by utilizing the stronger Vernier effect with “clear” Vernier spectrum. This analysis of the parameters may be useful to future researchers seeking to increase the measurement accuracy of sensors by enhancing the spectral visibility of the Vernier effect in other types of fiber optic interferometers.
