Voice and video over IP are particular intriguing subjects for new operators and for incumbent ones because they permit them to offer different service categories with different QoS requirements. In the first part of the work, the attention is focused on the study of a service discipline to guarantee the requested performances regarding end-to-end delay, jitter, throughput and loss rate. The discipline is flexible regarding bandwidth allocation and is simple. After that, a traffic statistical analysis is performed to optimize the adaptation of the scheduling algorithm to the various traffic sources. In the last part, the measurement results are shown and discussed.
