Abstract

To solve the existing sentence punctuation problem for collaborative commentary generation in Esports live-streaming, this paper presents two strategies for sentence punctuation for text sequences of game commentary, that is, punctuating sentences by two or three text sequence(s) originally punctuated by Youtube to obtain a complete sentence of commentary. We conducted comparative experiments utilizing and fine-tuning a state-of-the-art pre-trained generative language model among two strategies and the baseline to generate collaborative commentary. Both objective evaluations by automatic metrics and subjective analyses showed that our strategy of punctuating sentences by two text sequences outperformed the baseline., Comment: 2 pages, review manuscript, accepted by IEEE ICCE 2022

Abstract

In engineering scenarios, expert judgments play an essential role in reliability assessment, especially for those systems with few historical data. To achieve a rational result, experts from different areas should be involved, and the uncertainties in their assessments should be properly addressed. Such information is often referred to as multisource imprecise information (MSII) and might contain high degree of conflicts, as different experts usually have different expertise and knowledge. Properly quantifying the conflicts among the MSII, then, becomes a critical issue, as the subsequent processing of MSII (e.g., combination and calibration), depends on the degree of conflict in the MSII. To this end, a new conflict measure is put forth based on the Dempster–Shafer theory (DST) to quantify and visualize the conflict in the MSII from a group of experts. In the first place, the MSII from each expert is used to construct the basic belief assignment (BBA) of the reliability estimates for the corresponding expert under the DST. A 2-D conflict measure, which combines the conflict factor and Jousselme distance in DST, is, then, proposed to measure the conflict between the experts’ BBAs. The conflict is quantified from two perspectives, viz., mutual conflict and total conflict. Finally, a Bhattacharyya distance-based method is developed to further quantify the informativeness of each expert's MSII to the system reliability estimate. 34. Pixel-Wise Weighted Region-Based 3D Object Tracking Using Contour Constraints.

Abstract

Region-based methods are currently achieving state-of-the-art performance for monocular 3D object tracking. However, they are still prone to fail in cases of partial occlusions and ambiguous colors. We propose a novel region-based method to tackle these problems. The key idea is to derive a pixel-wise weighted region-based cost function using contour constraints. First, we propose a novel region-based cost function using search lines around the object contour, which is more efficient than previous region-based cost functions using signed distance transform, and in the meantime can deal with partial occlusions and ambiguous colors more effectively. Second, we propose an optimal searching strategy to search the object contour points in cluttered scenes, and then use the object contour points to detect partial occlusions and ambiguous colors. Third, we propose a pixel-wise weight function based on color and distance constraints of the object contour points, and integrate it into the proposed region-based cost function to reduce the negative impact of partial occlusions and ambiguous colors. We verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our method on challenging public datasets. Experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms the recent state-of-the-art region-based methods in complex scenarios, especially in the presence of partial occlusions and ambiguous colors. Abstract

A novel electromagnetic transparent low-band (LB) antenna is given in this article, with a good impedance matching in the band of 0.69–0.96 GHz (VSWR < 1.5). The key feature lies in its great patch dipoles with low-scattering properties. The transparent performance is achieved by loading slots on the dipoles, instead of inserting chokes. Dagger-like slot plays an important role in both impedance matching improvement and scattering suppression. An extra resonance point can be introduced to the reflection coefficient curve in the operating band, so the impedance matching problems can be alleviated. Besides, a dual-band shared-aperture array was designed and fabricated for validation. Both simulated and measured results have proved that the LB antenna has satisfactory impedance characteristics within the operating band and achieves an electromagnetic transparency in the band of 1.7–2.4 GHz. Abstract

This article presents a high-efficiency buck converter with electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction. The proposed buck converter employs a simple method of piecewise linear (PWL) modulation to mitigate EMI significantly. Since EMI reduction tradesoff with efficiency and ripple content, this work also integrates the design of process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) insensitive crystal-less oscillator. This technique limits the modulated switching frequency to remain within range across all process corners, supply voltage. and operating temperatures, thereby limiting the range of efficiencies and ripple content that the buck converter will incur throughout its operation. As a result, the tradeoff between efficiency and ripple content is optimized while maintaining lower output voltage spurious noise tone. The chip was implemented using the 0.18 μm 1p6m CMOS process. The measured results show that the power spectrum's peak noise is at −60.37 dBm, and the minimum efficiency is 93% with a ripple content of less than 43.7 mV for worst-case considering PVT variations at 2.2 V input, 1.7 V output with 100 mA load current. Abstract

As global energy consumption keeps increasing, the energy efficiency has become an important issue. Demand-side management (DSM) system is a technology that can be used to solve this issue. In many houses, there are some time periods in a day when inhabitants have high electricity demands, and these peaks will cause a burden on the smart grid. In order to solve energy efficiency problem, the demand-side management system can help users to postpone non-immediately needed demands to off-peak hour subject to the mechanism of real-time pricing policy. In addition, with the development of Internet of Things technology, the devices which have internet module can form a home area network, enabling DSM to monitor the entire state of the house and to control appliances. However, due to the uncertainty of user behavior, it is hard to find the good control policy for energy saving, considering that different users may have various habits and the appliance usage tends to be irregular. Therefore, the ability of DSM will be restricted in order to avoid disturbing the user comfort. In the proposed work, a smart home demand-side management system within home area network was implemented, including multiple agents with reinforcement learning for managing different appliances, energy storage system, and renewable energy. The proposed system also keeps the user's comfort based on the activity of user and controllability of appliances. As a result, the simulation studies show that the proposed DSM system can reduce 42.36% peak demand value and achieve 32.79% cost reduction. The cost reduction value can be further increased by 22.41% when the concept of energy self-awareness is combined into demand-side management system.

Abstract

Emergency Department (ED) crowding has become an issue of delayed patient treatment and even a public healthcare problem around the world. According to recent research studies of many countries, the increasing number of patients in the emergency department which has led to unprecedented crowding and delays in care. For that reason, triage into five-level Emergency Severity Index (ESI) has become a major method for improving medical priorities in ED. Although the ESI mitigates the process of ED treatment, so far it still heavily relies on the nurse's subjective judgment and is easy to triage most patients to ESI level 3 in current practice. Therefore, a system that can help the doctors to accurately triage a patient's condition is imperative. In this work, we propose a system based on the patients' ED electronic health record to predict hospitalizations after assigned procedures in ED are completed. While most of the related studies have employed traditional machine learning for triage-related classification and highly relied on a feature selection process, our proposed system used data-to-image transform to produce the input and a convolutional neural network as a classifier. For validation, the data from an open dataset (National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey) is used which includes 118,602 patient visits of United States EDs from 2012 to 2016 survey years. To sum up, the resulting AUROC and accuracy achieve 0.86 and 0.77, respectively, in our work.

Abstract

JSON is a very popular data format in many applications in Web and enterprise. Recently, many data analytical systems support the loading and querying JSON data. However, JSON parsing can be costly, which dominates the execution time of querying JSON data. Many previous studies focus on building efficient parsers to reduce this parsing cost, and little work has been done on how to reduce the occurrences of parsing. In this paper, we start with a study with a real production workload in Alibaba, which consists of over 3 million queries on JSON. Our study reveals significant temporal and spatial correlations among those queries, which result in massive redundant parsing operations among queries. Instead of repetitively parsing the JSON data, we propose to develop a cache system named Maxson for caching the JSON query results (the values evaluated from JSONPath) for reuse. Specifically, we develop effective machine learning-based predictor with combining LSTM (long shortterm memory) and CRF (conditional random field) to determine the JSONPaths to cache given the space budget. We have implemented Maxson on top of SparkSQL. We experimentally evaluate Maxson and show that 1) Maxson is able to eliminate the most of duplicate JSON parsing overhead, 2) Maxson improves end-to-end workload performance by 1.5-6.5×.

Abstract

Mobike is a leader in the bicycle-sharing industry, which commits to solving short-distance travel problems through the Internet. The rapid development of shared bicycles has been bringing very convenient for our travel. However, the problems of parking, high damage rates, and difficulty in reclaim have made many urban public space resources be taken up by these bicycles. In order to help the company maintain and manage its bicycles and service sites, the main contents of this paper focus on selecting the optimal service sites for Mobikes and planning the shortest circuit planning between service sites in each region. Our experimental data are the parking locations of Mobikes in Fuzhou city. The density-based clustering algorithm and an improved ant colony algorithm are adopted in this paper: 1) to divide a large data set into $N$ small uncorrelate data sets, the density-based clustering algorithm reveals the high-density region by finding the low-density region of the dataset, and this type of algorithm is used for selecting the service sites and 2) the problem that starting from the warehouse center, then traversing all the service sites in the region, and finally returning to the warehouse center can be classified as an NP-hard problem. In this paper, an improved ant colony algorithm is used to obtain the optimal solution. The main purpose of finding the shortest circuit traversing all service sites in the region is to provide better support and maintenance for each service site.
