Abstract

We are witnessing a fast development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), but it becomes dramatically challenging to explain AI models in the past decade. “Explanation” has a flexible philosophical concept of “satisfying the subjective curiosity for causal information”, driving a wide spectrum of methods being invented and/or adapted from many aspects and communities, including machine learning, visual analytics, human-computer interaction and so on. Nevertheless, from the view-point of data and knowledge engineering (DKE), a best explaining practice that is cost-effective in terms of extra intelligence acquisition should exploit the causal information and explaining scenarios which is hidden richly in the data itself. In the past several years, there are plenty of works contributing in this line but there is a lack of a clear taxonomy and systematic review of the current effort. To this end, we propose this survey, reviewing and taxonomizing existing efforts from the view-point of DKE, summarizing their contribution, technical essence and comparative characteristics. Specifically, we categorize methods into data-driven methods where explanation comes from the task-related data, and knowledge-aware methods where extraneous knowledge is incorporated. Furthermore, in the light of practice, we provide survey of state-of-art evaluation metrics and deployed explanation applications in industrial practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

9. Kernelized Iterative Hashing for Image Retrieval

Abstract

Hashing plays an important role in image retrieval due to its fast search speed and low storage cost. In this paper, a new algorithm called Kernelized Iterative Hashing (KIH) is proposed for image retrieval, which takes account of kernel trick, and gets hash codes by iterative training. The kernel trick is used to map the image data from low-dimension into high-dimension cleverly. In this way that the data become linear separable and image retrieval achieves good performance when the hash codes are in low-dimension, by using iterative method to train hash codes, image datab approach to hash codes step by step. The training error is reduced substantially and the hash codes are generated for image retrieval. The experimental results show that it decisively outperforms several other state-of-the-art methods on image benchmarks.

Though Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) Method, the essay summarizes the main problems related to schedule, quality and safety. Because construction is a complicated system and every aspect is closely integrated. The management of construction site is especially important. This essay tries to summarize the problems of construction site management and analyze the reasons, hoping to give some reference to operators and managers.

Based on data analysis method, this essay finds that application of PPP mode in Nanchang's infrastructures through analysis of a large number of infrastructures. Nanchang government adopts PPP mode to construction of infrastructure projects while there are still a lot of deficiencies. Taking the characteristics and law of Nanchang's infrastructures into consideration, the essay tries to put some useful suggestions for Nanchang government decision makers, project managers and operators.

Abstract

In order to steer master clock in timekeeping laboratory, it is necessary to identify a suitable algorithm for steering UTC(K) to UTC for a period of 45 days with 5-day latency. An algorithm is proposed to modify a traditional quadratic polynomial prediction model whose random error term is represented by a linear combination of periodic term. In the case of steering, the performance of the underlying algorithm is examined in depth, together with a comparison against simulated results of QP.

43. A Demand Response Energy Management Scheme for Industrial Facilities in Smart Grid.

Abstract

Demand response (DR) smart grid technology provides an opportunity for electricity consumers to actively participate in the management of power systems. Industry is one of the major consumers of electric power. In this study, we propose a DR energy management scheme for industrial facilities based on the state task network (STN) and mixed integer linear programming (MILP). The scheme divides the processing tasks in industrial facilities into nonschedulable tasks (NSTs) and schedulable tasks (STs), and takes advantage of distributed energy resources (DERs) to implement DR. Based on day-ahead hourly electricity prices, the scheme determines the scheduling of STs and DERs in order to shift the demand from peak periods (with high electricity prices) to off-peak periods (with low electricity prices), which not only improves the reliability of the electric power system, but also reduces energy costs for industrial facilities.
