Human activity and role recognition play an important part in complex event understanding. This paper present a system to automatically generate natural language descriptions from complex videos. The system consists of mainly two parts training and testing. The first part is training section in which the complex videos are trained by storing its features, subject, verb, and objects, tense (past tense, future tense or present tense), and actual description of video into the database. In testing part, the testing video is taken as an input and after applying all video processes and classified using SVM classifier, the grammatically correct description is generated using NLP (Natural Language) processing. The video frames are processed through Gaussian and Canny edge detection. Further features of every frame of video is detected by using SIFT algorithm.

Communication between the human are performed by using different languages. Language is either in written or spoken form. In our paper, as an author we are representing a framework that gives output as a description for audio file using signal processing. The output is in the text format which is derived by examining the audio content and providing the description of audio in the text format. So the study of translation of audio into text goes increasing. The framework is distributed into two sections called training and testing section. The training section is train the audio with its description like speech conversation present in that audio. This data is stored in the system using database with features of scenario of audio. Another section is testing section. The testing section test the audio file and retrieve the output as description of audio comparing audios stored into database (i.e. in training section). Using Latent Dirichlet allocation processing sentences are generated from objects and their activities.

Technological advancements has made production of electrical energy more efficient and minimized the consumption of non-renewable sources of energy. Wind energy has been harvested for more than a decade and has been considered to be one of the cleaner methods of producing electricity. This paper focuses on wind electric system connected to the grid. There are different types of wind electric generators such as fixed speed generators (synchronous generators) and variable speed generators which are squirrel cage and slip ring induction generators. Variable speed induction generators are widely chosen in wind electric system. In variable speed induction generators, doubly fed induction generators are mostly used because its rotor transfers the slip power when there is high wind speed velocity, and voltage is injected if the wind velocity is less. This paper proposes a method for controlling the stator power output of DFIG at speeds below synchronous speed using a novel fuzzy logic controller for Rotor Side Converter(RSC). The fuzzy logic rule base is formulated based on wind turbine speed and it controls the amount of rotor/slip power to be injected at appropriate slip frequency by varying the reference signal of the PWM generator, hence maintains the constant power flow from stator to grid. The fuzzy based RSC controller is designed and implemented in the laboratory.

This paper discusses construction and testing of a scaled down model of 33 kV substation using SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition). The model works as a testing platform for conducting various kinds of automation tests like unscheduled load shedding, time based load shedding, over voltage protection etc. The model provides hands on experience of automation which results in enhancement of control, accuracy, and reliability of the substation. The substation is monitored and controlled using SCADA. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate how to develop an efficient system and using it as a real-world testing platform that enables the collection of right amount of data and relaying it to the controlling utility at right time to take right actions for smooth performance and good efficiency. Also to study the security concerns of the system by modelling the threats associated it.

This paper presents analysis and design of multilayer ultra wide band (UWB) power splitter suitable for wireless communications. An UWB power splitter is designed in suspended substrate stripline medium. The quarter wave transformer in the conventional Wilkinson power divider is replaced by broadside coupled lines to achieve tight coupling for broadband operation. The UWB power splitter is analyzed using circuit models of coupled lines and full wave simulator. Experimental results of 3dB power splitter designed using the proposed structure have been verified against the results from circuit simulation and full wave simulation. The return loss is better than 12 dB across the band 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz. Size of the power splitter is 30mm× 20mm×6.38mm.

Nuclear radiation detectors in the energy range of soft x-rays have been fabricated using bulk semi-insulating (SI) 4H-SiC crystals and SI and n-type 4H-SiC epitaxial layers grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on highly doped (0001) 4H-SiC substrates. The devices have been characterized by optical microscopy, current-voltage (I-V) measurements, thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectroscopy (94K – 650 K), Hall effect, van der Pauw measurements, and electron beam induced current (EBIC) technique. Both epitaxial layers exhibited relatively shallow levels related to Al, B, L- and D- centers. Deep level centers in the n-type epitaxial layer peaked at ∼ 400 K (E a ∼ 1.1 eV) and ∼ 470 K were correlated with IL2 defect and 1.1 eV center in high purity bulk SI 4H-SiC. The SI epitaxial layer exhibited peak at ∼ 290 K (E a = 0.82 – 0.87 eV) that was attributed to IL 1 and HK2 centers, and at ∼ 525 K that was related to intrinsic defects and their complexes with energy levels close to the middle of the band gap. Results of EBIC and optical microscopy characterization showed segregation of threading dislocations around comet tail defects in the n-type epitaxial layers. The I-V characteristics of the devices on SI epitaxial layers obtained in wide temperature range (94K – 650 K) exhibited steps at ∼ 1 V and ∼ 70 V corresponding to the ultimate trap filling of deep centers peaked at > 500 K and at ∼ 250 K (E a ∼ 0.57 eV), & ∼ 300 K (E a ∼ 0.85 eV) respectively. The high temperature resistivity measurements of bulk SI 4H-SiC sample revealed resistivity hysteresis that was attributed to the filling of the deep level electron trap centers. The responsivity of the n-type epitaxial SiC sensors to low energy x-rays is reported for the first time.

High barrier cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) Schottky diodes with very low reverse leakage current have been fabricated and characterized for high resolution gamma ray detectors. The diodes were made using Cd 0.9 Zn 0.1 Te detector grade crystals grown from zone refined Cd, Zn, and Te (7N) precursor materials using low temperature tellurium solvent method. Various crystallographic defects due to Te-inclusions/precipitates were identified and characterized using electron beam induced current (EBIC) measurement technique for the first time. The EBIC images were correlated very well with transmission infrared (TIR) images of CZT crystals and the EBIC contrast was attributed to the nonuniformities in spatial distribution of Te inclusions. Further characterization by the thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectroscopy revealed shallow and deep level centers with activation energies 0.25– 0.4 eV and 0.65 – 0.8 eV respectively, which was attributed to intrinsic defects associated with Te inclusions. Pulse height spectra (PHS) measurements were carried out using 137Cs (662 keV) radiation source and energy resolution of ∼1.51% FWHM was obtained from the as-grown boule.

Design of a dual band pass filter employing microstrip line with defected ground is presented in this paper. A dual band filter at 2.45GHz and 3.5GHz (covering WLAN and WiMAX) with 6% bandwidth has been designed at each frequency. Apertures in ground plane were used to improve the stop band rejection characteristics and coupling levels in the filter. Measured results of the experimental filter were compared against the simulation results for the purpose of validation.
