40. Sparse Data Injection Attacks on Smart Grid: An Information-Theoretic Approach.

Abstract

Sparse data injection attacks are data injection attacks that target a limited number of sensors in the smart grid paradigm. In this paper, sparse attack construction strategy is proposed for the information-theoretic stealth attacks, in which the attacker minimizes the amount of information acquired by the operator about the power system from the observations and the probability of being detected simultaneously. For Gaussian distributed state variables, closed-form expression is proposed for the optimal Gaussian sparse attacks when the attacker targets deterministic observations and gets access to the full system information. Based on that, two target observation selection strategies are introduced to find the vulnerable observations in the system, in which the algorithms take different tradeoff strategies between performance and computational time. Furthermore, a locally perfect stealthy attack construction strategy is proposed for the case in which the attacker only has partial system information but gets access to real-time realizations of the local state variables. The optimality of Gaussian sparse attacks and the performance of the selection strategies are validated on the IEEE 30 Bus and 118 Bus test systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Fractional-slot concentrated-windings (FSCWs) interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous machines (IPMSMs) provide several advantages compared with other types of electric machines and have promising applications in electric vehicles (EVs). Minimizing the cogging torque and torque ripple of this type of motors is essential for improving output torque and driving stability. This article proposes a method for optimizing the torque performance of IPMSM with single-layer FSCW. At first, the theoretical analysis of cogging torque and torque ripple is conducted as the research basis for the optimization. The key point of this method is to describe the structure of the rotor notch as determined by seven design parameters. Then, the response surface methodology (RSM) is adopted to analyze the relationships between torque performance and design parameters. For the multiobjective optimization process, the seagull optimization algorithm (SOA) is introduced to obtain the optimal solution. After the optimization, the torque ripple of the motor achieves a significant reduction and the output torque is also improved. The advantages and reliability are compared and analyzed. Abstract

Reliability assessment is the key to ensure the security of power system, however, the rapid development of "source-network-load-storage" cause enormous obstacle to the traditional reliability method. A improved method for reliability assessment of generation and transmission systems is proposed in this paper which lays importance on the coordinate operation and uncertainty of "source-network-load-storage". Firstly, the reliability and operation model of "source-network-load- storage" is proposed to handle certain novel elements. Then the reliability assessment with operation simulation is proposed to make balance between generation and load under uncertainty. Finally, numerical analysis focusing on the different form and proportion of "source-network-load-storage" is tested in IEEE RTS-79 system so as to demonstrate the practicality and effectiveness of the improved method.

Abstract

Vulnerability assessment is the key to the security and stability analysis of power system. During the operation of power grid, the fault risk of electrical equipment is not fixed because of the influence of system operating conditions, operating environment and equipment itself, so the vulnerability of power system will also be changeable. Based on the existing research results of complex network theory, a vulnerability assessment method considering operational reliability is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the basic idea of reliability weighted vulnerability assessment is introduced. Then HITS algorithm and PageRank algorithm will be used to analyze the basic vulnerability of power grid topology. Moreover, the vulnerability index of power grid considering reliability weighted is calculated. Finally, numerical analysis focusing on the difference between basic and improved assessment method is tested in IEEE RTS-79 system, and the preventive planning suggestions will be given based on the vulnerability assessment results.

Abstract

A drum-type permanent magnet coupler is designed in this paper, which can solve the problem of noise and vibration caused by too many motors in full-power train. It provides a feasible scheme for realizing full-power train. 200 km/h locomotive is taken as an example in this paper. The power of the motor required by the full-power train is calculated and the appropriate motor is selected. Secondly, according to the equivalent magnetic charge theory, the mathematical model of the torque of the magnetic coupler is established. Finally, the size of the coupler is designed by adjusting the structural parameters of the coupler.
