Zebra crossing segmentation is an important part of blind navigation. In this paper, We proposed a method based on Dilated Convolution Neural Network for accurate recognition of zebra crossing. The Dilated Convolution Neural Network is used to automatically identify all the regions that meet the characteristics of zebra crossing. After introducing residual network and Dilated Convolution, the detection effect of the model is greatly enhanced. The improved model improves the accuracy and reliability of zebra crossing recognition, and reduces the false detection rate. Through sample training and data testing, the results show that the Dilated Convolution Neural Network can recognize zebra crossing with an accuracy of 91.24%.

Joint source channel coding (JSCC) is an effective technique in the non-asymptotic and low latency regime, while suffers from high error floor for sequences with high source probabilities and short block-lengths (HSP-SB). Aiming to address this issue, a joint source channel anytime coding (JSCAC) based on the anytime spatially coupled repeat-accumulate (ASC-RA) codes is presented. In the proposed JSCAC scheme, the adopted exponential distributed coupling (EDC) and partial joint expanding window decoding (PJEWD) can efficiently recover the early transmitted HSP-SB messages that are not fully corrected. Meanwhile, the updating mechanisms in the proposed PJEWD mitigate the complexity of expanding window decoding and the error propagation between the source and channel decoders, attributing to a better error performance. The proposed JSCAC is suitable for HSP-SB source transmission, which is a competitive candidate for communications with high reliability and low delay demands, such as streaming source and control applications, etc.

This paper proposes a novel design of an underactuated finger that integrating the advantages of two most frequently used grasping method: parallel-pinching method and self-adaptive method. The finger has an underactuated mechanism using gears, tension spring and flexible belt, GFPA finger. The designed gear transmission and flexible belt-tension spring in the fingers could let the finger grasping object in a merged movement of parallel pinching and self-adaptive, which not only has the advantages of parallel-pinching to grasp the shape of the plate, but also has the advantages of adaptive way to adapt to the shape of the object. Due to the special structure including gear mechanism and tension spring-flexible belt mechanism, the finger could firstly rotate the proximal phalanx while keep the distal phalanx in a parallel motion through the meshed series gear. The distal phalanx will rotate to envelope the object only after the proximal phalanx contact with the object. The GFPA finger has important application prospects in the field of humanoid, aeronautics and Astronautics, etc.

Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors need to be mounted at the outer surface of any metallic test piece to monitor its structural integrity through measuring physical quantities, such as strain, pressure, vibration, and temperature. High-temperature epoxies or ceramic epoxies are used to mount the said sensors to operate under high-temperature environment conditions. The unsteadiness of the outer surface of the metallic piece and non-uniformity of the applied epoxy over the sensing head, affect its operation and measurement accuracy in the long run. Here, in the first part of a twopart article, we have investigated the reliable functioning and spectrum evolution of the FBG sensors, mounted on a carbonsteel tube, for temperature up to 500° C. Polyimide coated femtosecond laser written FBG sensors are surface mounted on the said tube using a high-temperature adhesive. There is no peak splitting, and chirp phenomenon experienced by the sensors at the end of two thermal cycles. The second part of the two-part article focuses on the mounting and operation of gold-coated FBG sensors in the high-temperature operating environment.

The display of outdoor sports scene can make running on the treadmill more interesting. What kind of picture is displayed, how to synchronize with the speed and slope of the treadmill and how to exercise more scientifically and reasonably are important problems in the system design. In this paper, a treadmill with variable speed and adjustable slope was used for system design, and the key technologies such as scene construction, data reception and processing of wearable devices were studied in detail. Scene construction includes virtual scene terrain construction, lighting simulation, as well as real scene shooting and parameter recording. The system is implemented through unity, which can be applied to android phones and displayed through projection.

Emotions play an important role in human communication, and EEG signals are widely used for emotion recognition. Despite the extensive research of EEG in recent year, it is still challenging to interpret EEG signals effectively due to the massive noises in EEG signals. In this paper, we propose an effective emotion recognition framework, which contains two main parts: the representation network and the prototype selection algorithm. Through our proposed representation network, samples from the same kind of emotion state are more close to each other in high-level representation, and then, we selected the prototypes from the clustering set in feature space match the following testing samples. This method takes advantage of the powerful representation ability of deep learning and learns a better describable feature space rather than learn the classifier explicitly. The experiments on SEED dataset achieves a high accuracy of 93.29% and outperforms a set of baseline methods and the recent deep learning emotion classification approaches. These experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed emotion recognition framework.

The design of the most of the traditional multi-fingered hands is the imitation of human hand. It causes that a large number of simple operations can be realized only by using the finger joints or wrist, which brings about complex control algorithm and the waste of time and energy. To solve this problem, this paper presents a novel design of robot finger with changeable surface for in-hand manipulation of co-fusion robots, called CS finger. Due to the special structure including pulley-belt mechanism and planetary gear mechanism, the surface of the CS finger can move in two directions and change the kind of the surface according to the environment, which makes many operations realized greatly easily and efficient like twisting the key to unlock and picking up soft cloth. Owing to its compact structure, low control requirements and high adaptability to the environment, the CS finger has important application prospects in the field of home services, micro-nano manufacturing and aeronautics and Astronautics, etc.

The electric vehicle (EV), when aggregated by an agent (Aggregator), is a suitable candidate for participating demand response in power system operation. This paper proposes a method for the calculation of the optimal charging and V2G decision through aggregator with consideration of the trade-off between EV users' charging willingness and cost, and trade-off between the capacity loss and revenue due to V2G. Following this optimal decision, EV users' charging/V2G capacity can be well predicted in advance. However, if EV users' order at aggregators can be 100% fulfilled depends on the facility level and technology of aggregators. Moreover, the aggregators' DR capability is also affected by the sitting of aggregator because of the driving behavior of EVs. In this paper, aggregator's DR capacity is studied under multiple scenarios with different facility conditions, different technologies (V2V) through a test case including 2 aggregators in business area and residential area respectively. Along the increasing of the no. of charging/discharging piles, aggregators' DR capability is increasing. There is an upper limit on its facility level due to the size of the EVs users group, above which, investment on piles is unnecessary. DR capabilities of aggregators at different locations are correlated when serving the same group of EV users because EV users are pursuing benefit maximization.

In order to improve the robustness and the speed of single target tracking, this paper proposes an improved Tracking Learning Detection method. By modifying the tracking module in the traditional TLD algorithm, introducing the ORB feature points with fast matching speed and retaining the original uniform distribution points, the execution speed and robustness of the algorithm can be improved. The experiment shows that the improved TLD algorithm has strong robustness in different experimental environments and can quickly and accurately track the single object. The algorithm proposed in this paper effectively overcomes the tracking failures caused by the moving target‘s partial occlusion, rapid movement and departure from the tracking field of vision. It has better robustness, accuracy and faster execution speed than traditional TLD algorithm.

We demonstrate a simple digital coherent transmission system with an injection-locking technique for next-generation mobile fronthaul. With this system, both up- and downlink 80 Gbit/s, 256 QAM-data were bi-directionally transmitted over 26 km with a loss budget of 10 dB.

In this paper, the problem of joint dynamic spectrum access and multi-relay selection is investigated in relayenabled cooperative communication systems to maximize the system sum-capacity. Since the considered problem is a mixed integer nonlinear program, which is generally intractable to find the optimal solution, two matching theory-based suboptimal algorithms are proposed to reduce the computational complexity for two different cases. For the case that each source node can only be assisted by one relay, a cyclic three-sided matching algorithm is firstly proposed to attain the stable matching results for the selection of the source node and the relay with the spectrum band used. Then, for the case that each source node can be assisted by more than one relay, a two-step matching algorithm is proposed to perform joint dynamic spectrum access and multi-relay selection. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms, with much lower complexity compared to the optimal exhaustive search, can achieve the near-optimal performance with a gap to the optimum being less than 5%.

The establishment of early warning model of steel industry based on BP neural network is discussed in this paper. The topology of the network chooses three layers of BP network structure. Hidden layer nodes selects Sigmoid function as the activation function, and the output layer select purelin function as the activation function. Error function and capacity utilization composite index are combined. Capacity utilization composite index of the next period is taken as expected value of the current issue. Initial parameters selection of the model is given. The experiment results show that the network's early warning ability is better.

Force and touch telepresence has an important effect on robot hand controlling. When controlling humanoid robotic hand has data glove, the movement of robot hand appeared to be rigid because of the lack of touch telepresence. The movement of humanoid robot hand would be more flexible if tactile equipment was installed on data glove. There are two important requirements in tactile equipment of data glove, that is to say the structure of equipment must be compact. Too much complexity would lower the reliability of data glove, on the other hand, and the equipment must simulate the touch telepresence as actual as possible, which would influence the realness of the operation directly. In order to balance the structure of the data glove and the realness of tactile simulation, a new system that could build tactile telepresence between robot hand and human hand has been designed and manufactured, including a data glove and a humanoid robot hand. The data glove has 12 attitude transducers on the back and 14 groups of silica gel electrodes to irritate human hand by electrical pulses and simulate the touch telepresence. The humanoid robot hand use cord to transmit the motion which has 13 servo to control the movement of each joint accurately and 14 accurate pressure sensor to assess the grab situation.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) has been widely used to determine the location for a variety of different applications. However, it doesn't work well in indoor environments because it requires the line of sight to the satellites and therefore stops working when the line of sight is not available. High-precision indoor localization is critical to many personal and business applications. After Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), an energy-efficient version of Bluetooth, is widely deployed, Bluetooth-based indoor localization turns out to be a practical method to locate Bluetooth-enabled devices due to its low battery cost. In this paper, we present two novel BLE-based localization schemes, Low-precision Indoor Localization (LIL) and High-precision Indoor Localization (HIL). Different than most of the existing localization methods that attempt to find the specific location of the object under investigation, LIL and HIL utilize the collected RSSI measurements to generate a small region in which the object is guaranteed to be found. Compared with LIL, HIL leads to smaller localization regions. However, HIL requires an extra data-training phase.

The thermal characteristics of the ethanol-filled hollow core photonic crystal fiber (HCPCF) based modal interferometer (MI) is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The effective refractive index difference between the interference modes and thermal sensitivity are improved greatly after filling ethanol solution into the air core and claddings of the HCPCF.

Under the condition of Built-off Self-test (BOST), a novel test data compression scheme based on position information coding is presented, which is targeting test data and test power consumption. The proposed scheme gets the next test stimuli by reversing some bits of the responses corresponding to the previous test vectors. During the process of bit flip, test power problem should be taken into account; both the shift power and capture power during the test should be limited in the scope of security. For shift power, need to modify the scan chain by adding blocking logic; and the capture power reduction through the test cube filling based on the response. Experimental results justify the efficacy of the proposed method in attaining test-data compression; the average compression ratio is 73.63% on the premise of capture power consumption reduced by 20%.

A review of photonic crystal fiber sensors with microbubble is presented. The work concentrate in three sensing fields: the first reports on temperature sensing; the second describes on strain sensing; the last part focuses on refractive index sensing and bio-sensing. The method of fabricating the microbubble is also briefly discussed.

We present hybrid propagation in a photonic liquid crystal fiber (PLCF) fabricated by selective infiltration of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) air channels with a nematic liquid crystal (LC). Temperature tuning of the position of the photonic bandgaps is also demonstrated.

We report on the fabrication of a miniaturized photonic crystal fiber (PCF) tip sensor for sensitive liquid refractive index measurement. The PCF tip sensor has a hybrid configuration of Fabry-Perot (FP) and modal interferometer. A short length (less than 1 mm) of PCF is spliced to a standard single mode fiber. An air bubble is created in the splice region forming the FP cavity. The air holes are fully collapsed on both sides of the PCF. The collapsed sections act as multimode fibers which excite and recombine higher order modes experiencing optical path difference (OPD) than that of the core mode and forming modal interference. The end of the PCF is modified to a solid sphere by fusion arc splicer. Experimental results show that the sensitivity of the probe can reach up to 21.4 nm/RIU (refractive index unit) to detect bulk liquid with refractive indices from 1.33 to 1.4.

Photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) offer innovative design and optical properties. In this paper, we measured the temperature dependence of a polarization-maintaining PCF based interferometer. The sensor head was fabricated by splicing PMPCF to single mode fiber (SMF) and temperature sensitivity of 15.4 pm/°C was obtained. The temperature measurements were carried out up to 1000°C.

We fabricate and demonstrate a refractometer based on photonic crystal fiber (PCF) modal interferometer. The streptavidin and biotin are used as analyte and receptor in the experiment. The fabrication of the sensor is carried out via micro-hole collapsing with straightforward fusion arc splicing technique. Both sides of a short length of PCF (∼3 mm) are spliced to conventional single mode fibers (SMF). The voids of the PCF are completely collapsed in the splice region, acting as mode splitter and combiner for the PCF modal interferometer. The bulk liquid sensitivity is about 70.2 nm/RIU (refractive index unit) based on the linear curve fit for refractive index ranging from 1.33 to 1.35. The transmission spectrum of the biotin modified PCF modal interferometer exhibits 0.8 nm wavelength shift after streptavidin and biotin binding occurs.

ACO is a new distributed intelligent biologically-inspired algorithm simulated evolution, and is widely used for solving various combinatorial optimization problems. The simulation results showed that this method is better than genetic algorithm in the iterations and results. So ant system algorithm with variance as the risky measure indexes is better than basic ACO and genetic algorithm in real estate portfolio. The investigated results provide a practical solution for the real estate project management investment, which has a crucial practical significance for promoting the decision of real estate investment.

Aiming at the general aircraft flight simulation device, this paper described its concept and application?C and gave the detailed description on its system composition and working principle. Besides, the key technologies for the flight simulation device design and manufacture, such as the mathematical modeling of moving objects, the three-direction scene system design and three-direction scene system development, were discussed with solutions and development cases. In the end, this paper proposed some key technologies for the flight simulation device which has the advantages of high versatility and low cost. This scheme carried out a valuable exploration on developing the new aircraft flight simulation device.

The convergence of WDM layer and Ethernet layer in metro networks will offer tremendous benefits to simplify network management and optimize network resources. A control plane approach will more efficiently facilitate a carrier-grade Ethernet MAN/WAN. We discuss our research and experiment work on applying GMPLS control plane over an integrated optical Ethernet network to provide carrier-grade Ethernet services, including QoS and survivability in an efficient way.

We propose a novel hybrid WDM/TDM-PON with dynamic Virtual PON (VPON) capability. ONUs in the network can dynamically form a virtual TDM-PON to increase bandwidth and optimize network resource. The VPON is achieved without using additional lasers and tunable lasers. Experiment of 10-Gb/s downstream and 1.25-Gb/s upstream transmissions verifies the proposed scheme.
