A novel built-in phased-array calibration method for multi-stream 5G transceiver is presented. A transmit signal is monitored using couplers and sent to the receiver for the other stream. Multiple antenna elements are characterized simultaneously by solving linear equations using the proposed phase matrix which suppresses the required dynamic range. It takes less than 150 μs in loopback measurement to characterize gains and phases of 16 elements.
