Aiming at the shortcomings of the existing method for evaluating the state of the arc contact of the porcelain column circuit breaker, a method based on the electromagnetic wave signal generated during the charging and closing process of the porcelain column circuit breaker is proposed to evaluate the state of the arc contact. The basic principle and testing device of the method are introduced. The laboratory simulation research platform is built. The characteristics of the radiated electromagnetic wave signal during the opening of the circuit breaker under different ablation degrees are studied, and the substation 35kV porcelain is on site. The column circuit breaker performs detection and disintegration. The results show that the degree of ablation influences the radiated electromagnetic wave signal during the opening process. The number, peak value and duration of the radiated signal during the ablation process are larger than those of the slightly ablated contact. The use of the radiated electromagnetic wave signal in the process of circuit breaker opening can realize the electrification evaluation of the arc contact and predict the state of the arc contact in advance. This method has obvious advantages and has the value of promotion.
