This paper investigates the possibility of DC-link capacitor testing in multi-leg converters. Operating conditions similar to ones expected in normal operation can be achieved with the circular power flow, which is possible in multi-leg converters. Two cases are considered. The first one is DC/DC buck converter and second one is dual three-phase drive. Based on simulation results it can be asserted that regenerative/synthetic load can be comparable to normal load with proper setup of operational parameters.
