Several reports have shown that the wire diameter, deposition conditions, additives and temperature can give rise to very different structural and magnetic properties. We have studied the structural and magnetic properties of Co nanowires as a function of the electrolytic bath acidity. International audience; The US Department of Energy sets a limit of 20 to 30 MW for future exascale machines. In order to control their power consumption, modern processors provide many features. Power capping and uncore frequency scaling are examples of such features which allow to limit the power consumed by a processor. In this paper, we propose to combine dynamic power capping to uncore frequency scaling. We propose DUFP, an extension of DUF, an existing tool which dynamically adapts uncore frequency. DUFP dynamically adapts the processor power cap to the application needs. Finally, just like DUF, DUFP can tolerate performance loss up to a user-defined limit. With a controlled impact on performance, DUFP is able to provide power savings with no energy loss. The evaluation of DUFP shows that it manages to stay within the user-defined slowdown limits for most of the studied applications. Moreover, combining uncore frequency scaling to power capping: (i) improves power consumption by up to 13.98 % with additional energy savings for applications where uncore frequency scaling has a limited impact, (ii) improves power consumption by up to 7.90 % compared to using uncore frequency scaling by itself and (iii) leads to more than 5 % power savings at 5 % tolerated slowdown with no energy loss for most applications.

International audience; There is a large space of NUMA and hardware prefetcher configurations that can significantly impact the performance of an application. Previous studies have demonstrated how a model can automatically select configurations based on the dynamic properties of the code to achieve speedups. This paper demonstrates how the static Intermediate Representation (IR) of the code can guide NUMA/prefetcher optimizations without the prohibitive cost of performance profiling. We propose a method to create a comprehensive dataset that includes a diverse set of intermediate representations along with optimum configurations. We then apply a graph neural network model in order to validate this dataset. We show that our static intermediate representation based model achieves 80% of the performance gains provided by expensive dynamic performance profiling based strategies. We further develop a hybrid model that uses both static and dynamic information. Our hybrid model achieves the same gains as the dynamic models but at a reduced cost by only profiling 30% of the programs.

Three of them represents sector of higher education and four are schools located in the neighbour of the technical university. Unfortunately, in recent years number of candidates entering to technical universities (particularly in Europe) decreases. Partners exchange ideas how to increase number of students who starts education in technical area. Another project goal is to examine possibilities how the university can contribute in increasing quality of technical education at schools. Main project ideas and results of project activities are reported in the paper.

Despite the significant advances in the development tools, developing the software of such systems while ensuring their safety is still a difficult task. In this paper, we propose an engineering methodology to ease the development of safe software systems. It consists of four main phases: system modelling and validation, code generation and integration, static code analysis, and dynamic code analysis. This methodology is realized using CEA LIST open-source development platforms: Papyrus, Frama-C, and UNISIM-VP. These platforms are results of many research and industrial projects such as FP7-SafeAdapt, FUI-EQUITAS, FP7-STANCE, CATRENE-OpenES, and FSN-SESAM Grids.

International audience; Even though the proven benefits of cloud computing paradigm, it must face a serious problem that can compromise its commercial success. It concerns the lack of efficient approach for using optimally the available resources. For this, several approaches have been proposed. However,they suffer from several shortcomings. For instance, often only one objective is taken into account expressing all operations in terms of cost. Furthermore, business processes should be insured with elasticity and multitenancy mechanism while adjusting the available resources to the dynamic load distribution. The proposed approach aims to optimize two conflicting objectives, namely the number of migrated tenants and the cost incurred using a set of resources. It allows to take into account the multi-tenancy property and the Cloud computing elasticity, and is efficient as shown by an extensive experimentation based on real data from Bonita BPM customers.

International audience; RPN (Robotic Programming Network) is an initiative to bring existing remote robot laboratories to a new dimension, by adding the flexibility and power of writing ROS code in an Internet browser and running it in the remote robot with a single click. The code is executed in the robot server at full speed, i.e. without any communication delay, and the output of the process is returned back. Built upon Robot Web Tools, RPN works out-of-the-box in any ROS-based robot or simulator. This paper presents the core functionality of RPN in the context of a web-enabled ROS system, its possibilities for remote education and training, and some experimentation with simulators and real robots in which we have integrated the tool in a Moodle environment, creating some programming courses and make it open to researchers and students (http: //robotprogramming.uji.es).

Conference of 2013 IEEE Grenoble Conference PowerTech, POWERTECH 2013 ; Conference Date: 16 June 2013 Through 20 June 2013; Conference Code:101578; International audience; This paper addresses the challenge of applying an Information System risk assessment technique in the context of an Industrial Control System, specifically the electrical distribution network. This paper describes the application of the technique EBIOS (Expression des Besoins et Identification des Objectifs de Sécurité) to evaluate the risk associated with use of supporting Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within distribution substations operation. The paper highlights the detailed and rigorous nature of the approach in addition to identifying some limitations of the approach notably the difficulties of representing both the interdependency between the electrical distribution network and its supporting ICT and the evolving risk profile of dynamic system. Consequently, the paper will also highlight ongoing work aimed at addressing these limitations.
