Abstract

The article reviews immigration restrictions in several European countries since the 2007 global financial crisis. Topics discussed include the admission restrictions and quota reductions adopted by Germany, Hungary and Italy as well as Portugal, Spain and Great Britain. Also mentioned is the view that the divergence of policy partly reflecting the absence of consensus among European countries regarding the benefits of migration.
