Race and ethnicity influence the distribution and severity of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) in the U.S. population, although the impact of prior infant loss on this relationship requires further investigation.The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between history of infant loss and the risk of HDP by maternal race and ethnicity.For this large cross-sectional study, data were analyzed from the National Center for Health Statistics Vital Statistics Natality Birth Data, 2014-2017. The primary outcome was HDP, and the primary predictor was infant loss after prior live birth. Maternal race/ethnicity was the secondary predictor categorized as Non-Hispanic White (NHW), Non-Hispanic Black (NHB), Hispanic, Asian, or Other. Multiple logistic regression was used to assess the association between history of infant loss and HDP by race and ethnicity.The 9,439,520 women included in this sample were 51% NHW, 15% NHB, 25% Hispanic, 6% Asian, and 3% Other with a mean age of 29.8 ± 5.3 years. In adjusted analyses, infant loss after prior live birth was significantly associated with an 11% odds of HDP (OR 1.11, 95% CI 1.08, 1.13). Stratified by race, NHB (OR 1.28; 95% CI 1.21, 1.36) women had significantly higher odds of HDP, and Hispanic (OR 0.84, 95% CI 0.79, 0.90) and Asian (OR 0.85, 95% CI 0.75, 0.97) women had significantly lower odds compared to NHW women. Within races, all women with infant loss after prior live birth had significantly higher odds of HDP (Infant loss after prior live birth was significantly associated with higher odds of HDP among NHB women after adjusting for covariates. Further research is warranted to assess underlying mechanisms associated with higher odds of HDP in NHB women.

"Body swapping" illusions have been used to explore factors contributing to the experience of "owning" an artificial body. Preliminary research indicated that those people diagnosed with schizophrenia experience more vivid illusions of this kind than do "normal" individuals.Here, we explored whether participants who rated themselves "high" on the cognitive-perceptual factor of the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire (SPQ) experienced a more compelling sense of immersion in a variation of the body swapping illusion: The Barbie Doll Illusion. We also hypothesised that these individuals would experience a change in size perception when immersed in the illusion.Forty-four participants wore a pair of Head-Mounted Display goggles connected to a video-camera, and thus a doll's body replaced their own body in their visual field. In two conditions, touch was either applied synchronously or asynchronously to the doll's and each participant's leg. After each condition, participants filled out a questionnaire relating to their experience in the illusion. When both conditions were completed, they filled out the SPQ.Our first hypothesis was confirmed, which suggested that people with higher cognitive-perceptual SPQ scores do indeed experience a more compelling Barbie Doll Illusion; however, our second hypothesis was not supported.Our study demonstrated, for the first time, that proneness to the positive and interpersonal factors of schizotypy in a normal population is sufficient to produce a compelling sense of swapping bodies.

In this article we outline a model of coaching that is conceptually grounded in workplace and sport coaching literature and present 2 studies conducted to test this model: the extent that coaching behaviors are present in a military training setting, and their association with performance-related outcomes. Following an extensive review of literature and rigorous development and validation procedures the 28-item Military Coaching Behavior Scale was tested. The measure showed good content and predictive validity for 2 dependent variables (satisfaction and resilience). We concluded that the Military Coaching Behavior Scale offers a psychometrically sound, brief, and easy-to-administer measure of high-performance coaching behavior.
