India has a large diversity of cultures and traditions that express themselves in the intangible as well as material culture of the different regions in the country. The current situation of pandemic has, in its process of disruption of the norms, created a physical distance between the crafts of India and the market. In this regard, “Creative Dignity” is a voluntary initiative that has brought together professionals, educators, and the artisans of the country with the aim to provide an ecosystem for the artisans to survive in the COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 perspective. One such attempt under the umbrella is the Karuna Doll, made by women using local textiles as a medium of expression of regional craft identities, focusing on creating individual Karuna Dolls as representatives of the craft language of every state. The Karuna Doll is an embodiment of the cultural identity, and an expression of the idea of “going places.” This article focuses on creating a dialogue with the help of interviews and follows a descriptive method to assess the kind of cultural expression this doll is aimed to become, and its impact on the artisan community as a means of storytelling of a cultural identity. This article is based on a selection of Norwegian girls’ accounts of backcountry, freeride skiing and mountain biking to better understand how they form and are formed by cultural identity standards. The study is conducted by using the precepts of discourse analysis, which have language and social communication as the central component of the social world. The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of cultural food insecurity on identity and well-being in second-generation American and international university students. Thirty-one semi-structured interviews were conducted from January-April 2020. Audio transcripts were analyzed using continuous and abductive thematic analysis. Students indicated that cultural foodways enhanced their well-being by facilitating their cultural/ethnic identity maintenance, connection, and expression. Conversely, cultural food insecurity diminished student well-being due to reduced cultural anchors, highlighting the importance of cultural food in this population. Universities that reduce cultural foodways barriers may mitigate cultural food insecurity for second-generation American and international university students. (100/100).

Such events respond to the call for diverse and inclusive initiatives to facilitate learning, belonging, and cohesion in schools. Interestingly, while schools see these events as helping further inclusion, prior research on the subject has criticized such events for promoting essentialist understandings of cultural identities, hence regarding them as counterproductive to the aim of promoting inclusion. This research has directed scarce attention to the participant perspective, among them minority parents. Using the stall of the Kurdish parents as an example, we conducted fieldwork applying the method of Linguistic Landscaping. In addition, we conducted semi-structured interviews with the parents asking questions about the festival and the meaning of the displayed representations in their stall. The findings indicate that the Kurdish parents involved view the event as an important space for creative construction of transnational and diasporic identities, as well as an opportunity for a minority group to strive for acceptance for its cause. We end the article by reflecting on the pedagogical potential in multicultural school events as tools for creating inclusive school practices.

Influenced by traditional Chinese natural philosophy and increasing concern for environmental sustainability nowadays, water has been recognized as an embodiment of cultural identity and a desired component of the campus environment in China. This study focuses on the distinctive element, aims to clarify the characteristics of water-featured open spaces on Chinese university campuses, and tries to provide a typological method to define the presentation of water. From the viewpoint of the relationship between water and other spatial elements, 172 cases are investigated in three aspects: adaption to the site, creation of activity space, and scenery formation. Compositional typologies are categorized, and the characteristics of each typology and their relation to regional and historical backgrounds are analyzed and clarified. These characteristics show the evolution and variation of water-featured open spaces on Chinese campuses and demonstrate that water features can create spatial and scenic diversity with a flexible and adjustable relationship with other building and landscape elements. Furthermore, appropriate utilization of water features in the environmental design should be based on a thorough understanding of both cultural and spatial context.

The field of acculturation spans a rich and broad spectrum of relevant topics, types of populations and geographic areas. It has, however, been slow in incorporating theoretical insights beyond the intergroup relations perspective, neglecting contributions from other social psychology areas, such as the socio-cognitive approach, and from disciplines such as cultural and personality psychology, and the social-network perspective. The main aim of this article is to inform and broaden the understanding of micro- and meso-level acculturation mechanisms (e.g., cultural frame switching, multicultural identity structure and dynamics, intra- and inter-personal interculturality). We argue that it is time for acculturation research to apply other methodologies, rely on new theoretical paradigms and move from predicting acculturation outcomes (e.g., psychological well-being) to modelling acculturation processes. The article closes with a discussion on potential future challenges and needed directions in the social psychological study of acculturation, interculturalism and migration. El campo de la aculturación abarca un espectro amplio y variado de temas relevantes, tipos de poblaciones y representación geográfica. Sin embargo, la incorporación de otros enfoques teóricos distintos de las relaciones intergrupales ha sido lenta, dejando de lado las contribuciones de otras áreas de la psicología social como el enfoque sociocognitivo, y de otras disciplinas como la psicología cultural y de la personalidad, así como la perspectiva de las redes sociales. El principal objetivo de este artículo es informar y ampliar nuestro conocimiento de los mecanismos de aculturación a nivel micro y meso (e.g., alternancia de marco cultural, estructuras y dinámicas identitarias multiculturales, interculturalidad intrapersonal e interpersonal). Proponemos que ha llegado el momento de que el estudio de la aculturación aplique otras metodologías, confíe en los nuevos paradigmas teóricos y avance mas alla de la predicción de sus consecuenicas (e.g., bienestar psicológico) al modelado de los procesos de aculturación.
