Sports mega-events, such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, have the potential to inspire increases in population physical activity, yet investigations concerning such legacy outcomes have been inconclusive. This may be due to research design limitations or inconsistent leveraging of potential hosting benefits by event organizers. This systematic review aims to identify current knowledge about the capacity of sports mega-events to inspire increases in physical activity participation among adult populations and develop a research agenda to guide future legacy evaluations. Peer-reviewed, English-language studies published on or after the year 2000 were considered. Six academic databases and grey literature sources were searched, and articles were assessed for methodological quality. Reporting followed PRISMA conventions for systematic reviews. Nine studies were selected after quality evaluation, including previous reviews, quantitative and qualitative research. Most studies found no evidence for long-term physical activity outcomes associated with hosting sports mega-events, although limitations and gaps were identified. These included lack of longitudinal or cohort studies, limited differentiation of subpopulations, use of non-validated instruments, and lack of triangulation for qualitative findings. Only one cohort study from Japan identified sustainable and significant physical activity increases resulting from a previous sports mega-event. Considering theory, the commonly cited Demonstration Effect was reportedly an unreliable framework, although the Festival Effect and Social Ecological Model appear more promising for anticipating and explaining legacy effects. With less than two years until the Tokyo 2020 Olympiad, it is appropriate to commence high-quality legacy research drawing on lessons learned from previous studies.

An 81-year-old Japanese man had organizing pneumonia (OP), and he had worked as a painter and had a history of exposure of various paints over 20 years. The major features on computed tomography (CT) in patients were cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) showing airspace consolidation, and air bronchograms were consistent finding in consolidation in right lung of S¹⁰. Such parenchymal abnormalities were clinically and pathologically diagnosed COP and the lesion was improved by corticosteroid therapy. About 1.5 years later, similar shadows emerged in new locations of right S⁴ and left S⁸, and these were bronchioloalveolar carcinoma (BAC) classified as adenocarcinoma. BAC causes similar X-ray changes to COP and inflammation accompanying BAC can also respond to corticosteroids, which may lead to delay in the diagnosis of BAC associated with COP. These radiological features lead to difficulty in making a diagnosis of new parenchymal diseases. The present patient had been painter, and metals of carcinogens were proven in both tissue of COP and BAC. Here, we reported a painter with COP and new-onset BAC who had been exposed to particles proven by elemental analysis. The combination of COP with BAC is considered uncommon, but the risk of BAC may increase when there is a history of particle inhalation.

The 'Analytical Method of Equivalent Linear System using the Restoring Force Model of Power Function Type', used as a method of non-linear vibration analysis of vibration systems demonstrating viscoelastic characteristics, has been used to analyze steering torque characteristics and vehicle yaw rate response and quantify steer feel. Data from actual vehicles driven at high speed in the on-center area has been analyzed. It is shown that the method is able to clearly express the frequency dependency of individual vehicle characteristics.

Safety hazards of a non-azide propellant containing azodicarbonamide(ADCA), potassium perchlorate(KCIO 4) and other additives were evaluated using various test methods to determine impact and shock sensitivity, ignition sensitivity, heat sensitivity, propagation of explosion and burning, and violence of burning. With BAM 50/60 tube test, the new propellant, both in the form of dry powder and granule, was detonated, while when wetted with 10% water, it did not propagate detonation, and the addition of 15% water permitted no ignition. In the form of dry pellets BAM test resulted in no propagation of detonation but propagating deflagration. On the other hand, the pellets, when tested with 30 mm diameter PVC tube, neither detonated nor deflagrated by initiation with a no.6 detonator on the ground. From these test results a wet process is recommended espeially for blending raw materials and for granulating the mixed composition.
