The article clarifies the policy of the Soviet state and party bodies on procedures for registering childbirth and marriage in the post-war period in the Moldavian SSR. As a result of the implementation of the communist ideology and Soviet legislation in the MSSR, these procedures have undergone a number of changes. The transformations promoted at the administrative level through the adoption of normative acts resulted in the separation of the Church from the legal procedure for the registration of civil status documents. Also, some of the clergy’s freedom to serve religious services has been restricted, and the Church has been removed to the periphery of society by motivating it to be an institution that promotes vices, archaic and dangerous to the Soviet society customs and rituals. Atheist propaganda aimed at creating a negative image of the Church, closing the churches, and gradually reducing the number of believers. At the same time, in order to substitute religious rituals, civil ceremonies were created, which took on some elements of tradition to be infiltrated into family habits, labeled as new. In spite of the anti-religious measures and pressures on society, a significant proportion of the population in the MSSR in the post-war period continued to maintain their faith and to practice the religious ceremonies of the church, alongside with the civil compulsory ones, imposed by laws and administrative methods

This article is dedicated to the study of cartographic documents elaborated and published in the Russian Empire in the XIX century – beginning of the XX century and on which the population and the territory of Bessarabia (1812–1918) are represented. The maps were drawn in the historical realities of the period under the direct control of censorship and reflect the vision of the cartographic contemporaries of the era. The analysed cartographic sources attest and locate the Romanians (called sometimes Wallachians, Moldavians (Walachians) as the majority population in the space between the Prut and the Nistru with the subsequent explanation that Moldovans are Romanians. The cartographic documents attest and present the ethnicities co-inhabiting with the Romanians: the Ukrainians (Malorussians, sometimes Rusins), the Russians (Velicorussians), Bulgarians, Germans, Gypsies and other ethnicities, which had a smaller share. The Poles, the Swiss, the Armenians are mentioned only in some sources and maps. We conclude that the ethnic maps elaborated in the XIX–XX centuries represent a valuable source for the research of the ethnic history of the population of Bessarabia (1812–1918). They serve for the geographical mapping of ethnicities; contribute to a better understanding of the ethno-demographic processes that have taken place, including of the imperial colonization policies

The valorization of the traditional culture for development is a relatively new approach for the Republic of Moldova. The knowledge related to the cultural treasure of the Republic of Moldova and the ways of enhancing it is little known among economic agents, actors of political life, of social and scientific activity, as well as of the cultural one. We believe that research in the field of cultural heritage and the results obtained would have a greater impact and would contribute more optimally to the development of society if information technologies were to be used broader in the given field. They would also contribute to widespread dissemination and distribution in the social environment, which would provide greater impact. The creation of the National Scientific Platform for the Enhancement of the Cultural Patrimony of the Republic of Moldova would serve as an impetus and support for research in the field of cultural heritage and would provide the theoretical and methodological support accessible free of charge to the economic agents and other institutions, organizations and persons interested in valorizing the cultural patrimony. Through the National Scientific Platform in the sense of the proposed project, we mean the implementation of “Digital Humanities” in the research and valorization of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova.
