- Abstract
Cometary dust trails are composed of large debris ejected from periodic comets. They were first detected in optical wavelength by our group using Kiso 1.05-m Schmidt. The sophisticated data reduction processes as well as the advanced instruments are increasing the total number of trail comets to 15, testifying to the ability of the ground-based observations to achieve the present studies. In this paper, we describe the progress report on the cometary dust trail survey by three ground-based telescopes. In addition, we present the optical color measured under the photometric conditions on Mauna Kea, Hawaii. more...
