catena-Poly[benzyldecyldimethylammonium [plumbate(II)-tri-μ-bromido]], {(C19H34N)[PbBr3]}n, crystallizes as an inorganic–organic hybrid following monoclinic space-group symmetryP21/c. The structure consists of extended chains running along the [001] direction and built of [PbBr3]−units. These inorganic chains are separated by interdigitated ammonium cations which form hydrophilic layers through weak C—H...Br interactions. The architecture is essentialy the same as found forn-alkylbenzyldimethylammonium bromides.

Three inorganic–organic layered perovskite-type hybrids of the general formula [(C n H2n + 1NH3)2PbI4], n = 4, 5 and 6, display a number of reversible first-order phase transitions in the temperature range from 256 to 393 K. [(C4H9NH3)2PbI4] has a single phase transition, [(C5H11NH3)2PbI4] has two phase transitions and [(C6H13NH3)2PbI4] has three phase transitions. In all three cases, the lowest-temperature phase transition is thermochromic and the crystals change colour from yellow in their lowest-temperature phase to orange in their higher-temperature phase for [(C4H9NH3)2PbI4] and [(C6H13NH3)2PbI4], and from orange to red for [(C5H11NH3)2PbI4]. The structural details associated with this phase transition have been investigated via single-crystal X-ray diffraction, SC-XRD, for all three compounds.

A new inorganic–organic hybrid, bis(utane-1,4-diammonium) bis(hydrogenphosphato)­penta­molybdate monohydrate, (C4H14N2)2[Mo5O15(H2PO4)2]·H2O, has been determined. The structure contains the molecular ion [Mo5O15(HPO4)2]4− built of an Mo5 oxo-anion ring capped by two protonated PO4 tetrahedra linked by means of edge and corner sharing. A complex hydrogen-bonding network involving interactions between the organic counter-cation sand inorganic anions is observed.

The title compound, poly[[[diaqua(μ-4,4'-bipyridyl)dinickel(II)]-bis(μ-4,4'-bipyridyl)-di-μ-hexaoxodivanadate(2-)] 2.5-hydrate], [Ni 2 (V 2 O 6 ) 2 (C 10 H 8 N 2 ) 3 (H 2 O) 2 ].2.5H 2 O, has been prepared hydrothermally and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure consists of [V 2 O 6 ], [Ni(4,4'-bipy) 4 O 2 ] and [Ni(H 2 O) 2 (4,4'-bipy) 2 O 2 ] polyhedra, and water of crystallization. The Ni atoms and one bipyridyl group lie on centres of symmetry.

The title compound, (C(2)H(10)N(2))[In(HPO(4))(2)(OH)]·H(2)O, was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The structure of this hybrid compound consists of isolated inorganic chains with composition (∞)[In(HPO(4))(4/2)(OH)(2/2)] running along [010]. The coordination of the In(III) atom is distorted octa-hedral. The ethyl-enediammonium cation and the disordered water mol-ecule (site-occupation factors = 0.7:0.3) ensure the cohesion of the structure via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The title compound, (C3H5N2)4[β-Mo8O26], has been prepared from imidazole octamolybdate, (C3H5N2)4[(C3H4N2)2(γ-Mo8O26)], which was described previously. The γ→β conversion is produced in the presence of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O and is reported for the first time in this work. The X-ray structure analysis confirmed the presence of the [Mo8O26]4− anion. The structure consists of β-Mo8O26 polyanions and imidazolium cations. These cations are linked to the terminal and bridging O atoms of the anion by hydrogen bonds.
