1. Resolving the Mechanical and Radiative Feedback in J1044+0353 with Keck Cosmic Web Imager Spectral Mapping

Abstract: We present integral field spectroscopy toward and around J1044+0353, a rapidly growing, low-metallicity galaxy that produces extreme [O iii ] line emission. A new map of the O32 flux ratio reveals a density-bounded ionization cone emerging from the starburst. The interaction of the hydrogen-ionizing radiation, produced by the very young starburst, with a cavity previously carved out by a galactic outflow, whose apex lies well outside the starburst region, determines the pathway for global Lyman continuum (LyC) escape. In the region within a few hundred parsecs of the young starburst, we demonstrate that superbubble breakthrough and blowout contribute distinct components to the [O iii ] line profile: broad and very broad emission line wings, respectively. We draw attention to the large [O iii ] luminosity of the broad component and argue that this emission comes from photoionized, superbubble shells rather than a galactic wind as is often assumed. The spatially resolved He ii λ 4686 nebula appears to be photoionized by young star clusters. Stellar wind emission from these stars is likely the source of line wings detected on the He ii line profile. This broader He ii component indicates slow stellar winds, consistent with an increase in stellar rotation (and a decrease in effective escape speed) at the metallicity of J1044+0353. At least in J1044+0353, the recent star formation history plays a critical role in generating a global pathway for LyC escape, and the anisotropic escape would likely be missed by direct observations of the LyC.

Abstract: Examining household carbon emissions through a supply chain perspective reveals the climate impact of consumption behaviors and variations across societal structures and features. Despite the evident and expanding environmental inequality, strategies for its mitigation and prioritization remain debated. This study investigates the origins of carbon emission inequalities from household consumption, using Japan as a case study, a society characterized by aging demographics and comparatively equal income redistribution. By quantitatively analyzing household carbon footprints, we observe a U-shaped distribution in emissions as income levels increase. Notably, the carbon footprint sizes are strikingly similar between the lowest and highest income groups, yet inequalities emerge in education and investments in future generations. Integrating these findings, this study further conducts a scenario analysis to project shifts in future low-carbon lifestyles, indicating that middle-income groups are more prone to achieving personal-level decarbonization. This projection is vital in understanding how to effectively address carbon footprint inequalities, especially considering the entrenched preferences in wealthier demographics for investing in future generations.

Abstract: We present new high-spectral-resolution observations ( R = λ /Δ λ = 7000) of the filamentary nebula surrounding NGC 1275, the central galaxy of the Perseus cluster. These observations have been obtained with SITELLE, an imaging Fourier transform spectrometer installed on the Canada–France–Hawai Telescope with a field of view of $11^{\prime} \times 11^{\prime} $ , encapsulating the entire filamentary structure of ionized gas despite its large size of 80 kpc × 50 kpc. Here, we present renewed fluxes, velocities, and velocity dispersion maps that show in great detail the kinematics of the optical nebula at [S ii ] λ 6716, [S ii ] λ 6731, [N ii ] λ 6584, H α (6563 Å), and [N ii ] λ 6548. These maps reveal the existence of a bright flattened disk-shaped structure in the core extending to r ∼10 kpc and dominated by a chaotic velocity field. This structure is located in the wake of X-ray cavities and characterized by a high mean velocity dispersion of 134 km s ^−1 . The disk-shaped structure is surrounded by an extended array of filaments spread out to r ∼ 50 kpc that are 10 times fainter in flux, remarkably quiescent, and have a uniform mean velocity dispersion of 44 km s ^−1 . This stability is puzzling given that the cluster core exhibits several energetic phenomena. Based on these results, we argue that there are two mechanisms that form multiphase gas in clusters of galaxies: a first triggered in the wake of X-ray cavities leading to more turbulent multiphase gas and a second, distinct mechanism, that is gentle and leads to large-scale multiphase gas spreading throughout the core.

4. Strain-modulated anomalous circular photogalvanic effect in p-type GaAs

Abstract: The influence of spatial strain distribution on the anomalous circular photogalvanic effect (ACPGE) is investigated in the p-type GaAs material. By tuning the position of exerted stress, it is experimentally observed that the uniform strain related ACPGE behaves like the sine function, which resembles the non-strain situation. Whereas the gradient strain related ACPGE shows the unimodal function line shape. To explain the observations, a new theoretical model is constructed based on spin splitting of energy bands. It is demonstrated that the ACPGE could purely derive from the spin splitting effect. Besides, the combination effect of spin splitting and inverse spin Hall effect on the ACPGE is also investigated. This work reveals the importance of bands spin splitting on ACPGE, which has not been considered before.

5. Using KCWI to Explore the Chemical Inhomogeneities and Evolution of J1044+0353

Abstract: J1044+0353 is considered a local analog of the young galaxies that ionized the intergalactic medium at high redshift due to its low mass, low metallicity, high specific star formation rate, and strong high-ionization emission lines. We use integral field spectroscopy to trace the propagation of the starburst across this small galaxy using Balmer emission- and absorption-line equivalent widths and find a poststarburst population (∼15–20 Myr) roughly 1 kpc east of the much younger, compact starburst (∼3–4 Myr). Using the direct electron temperature method to map the O/H abundance ratio, we find similar metallicities (1–3 σ ) between the starburst and poststarburst regions but with a significant dispersion of about 0.3 dex within the latter. We also map the Doppler shift and width of the strong emission lines. Over scales several times the size of the galaxy, we discover a velocity gradient parallel to the galaxy’s minor axis. The steepest gradients (∼30 km s ^−1 kpc ^−1 ) appear to emanate from the oldest stellar association. We identify the velocity gradient as an outflow viewed edge on based on the increased line width and skew in a biconical region. We discuss how this outflow and the gas inflow necessary to trigger the starburst affect the chemical evolution of J1044+0353. We conclude that the stellar associations driving the galactic outflow are spatially offset from the youngest association, and a chemical evolution model with a metal-enriched wind requires a more realistic inflow rate than a homogeneous chemical evolution model.

6. The Nature of γ-Ray Emission from HESS J1912+101

Abstract: Since the discovery of HESS J1912+101 at teraelectronvolt energies, its nature has been extensively studied. Due to the absence of X-ray and radio counterparts, whether its γ -ray emission is produced by relativistic electrons or ions is still a matter of debate. We reanalyze its megaelectronvolt to gigaelectronvolt γ -ray emission using 14 yr of Pass 8 data of the Fermi-LAT, and find that the gigaelectronvolt γ -ray emission is more extended than the teraelectronvolt shell detected by H. E. S. S. and flux above 10 GeV from the northern half is much higher than that from the southern half, where there is evident interaction between shocks and molecular clouds. As a consequence, the gigaelectronvolt spectrum of the northern half (with an index of 2.19 ± 0.12) is much harder than that in the south (with an index of 2.72 ± 0.08), and the overall gigaelectronvolt spectrum shows a concave shape, which is distinct from most γ -ray supernova remnants (SNRs). In combination with the teraelectronvolt spectrum, the overall γ -ray spectrum can be fitted with a broken power-law model for trapped ions and a low energy component due to escaping ions. The diffusion coefficient for escaping ions however needs to be proportional to the energy, implying that the low energy component may also be attributed to ions accelerated via recent shock–cloud interactions. A hadronic origin for the γ -ray emission is therefore favored and the overall emission properties are consistent with ion acceleration by SNR shocks. On the other hand, it is still undeniable that stellar cluster or PWN may have some contribution in some parts of this extended source.

Abstract: Operating temperature is a key factor affecting the output power of a crystalline silicon solar cell (c-Si SC). Based on solving basic semiconductor equations, Maxwell equations and heat flow equations by finite difference method, this work has theoretically investigated the influences of microfluidic cooling system on the temperature distributions and output parameters of an industrial c-Si SC packaged as a module form, where the cooling system is installed the interface between the aluminum electrode and back ethylene vinyl acetate layer and the cooling medium flowing through microchannel is selected as water. Under the influences of the cooling system, the back surface temperature of the c-Si SC is fixed at about water temperature and the front surface temperature will decrease with the water temperature decreasing. The temperature distributions of c-Si active layer and aluminum layer decrease approximately linearly along the two layer’s thickness directions. The cooling effects of the cooling system are mainly determined by water temperature and when the filling factor of microchannel is larger than 0.1, its influences on the temperature distribution of the c-Si SC are small. In the environmental temperature range from −15 °C to 60 °C, the increase rates of Voc, FF and η per degree Celsius with the water temperature decreasing are about 0.0014 V, 0.036% and 0.05%, respectively.

8. Code Comparison in Galaxy-scale Simulations with Resolved Supernova Feedback: Lagrangian versus Eulerian Methods

Abstract: We present a suite of high-resolution simulations of an isolated dwarf galaxy using four different hydrodynamical codes: Gizmo , Arepo , Gadget , and Ramses . All codes adopt the same physical model, which includes radiative cooling, photoelectric heating, star formation, and supernova (SN) feedback. Individual SN explosions are directly resolved without resorting to subgrid models, eliminating one of the major uncertainties in cosmological simulations. We find reasonable agreement on the time-averaged star formation rates as well as the joint density–temperature distributions between all codes. However, the Lagrangian codes show significantly burstier star formation, larger SN-driven bubbles, and stronger galactic outflows compared to the Eulerian code. This is caused by the behavior in the dense, collapsing gas clouds when the Jeans length becomes unresolved: Gas in Lagrangian codes collapses to much higher densities than that in Eulerian codes, as the latter is stabilized by the minimal cell size. Therefore, more of the gas cloud is converted to stars and SNe are much more clustered in the Lagrangian models, amplifying their dynamical impact. The differences between Lagrangian and Eulerian codes can be reduced by adopting a higher star formation efficiency in Eulerian codes, which significantly enhances SN clustering in the latter. Adopting a zero SN delay time reduces burstiness in all codes, resulting in vanishing outflows as SN clustering is suppressed.

9. Advanced γ-Ray Emission Studies of G15.4+0.1 with Fermi-LAT: Evidence of Escaping Cosmic Rays Interacting with Surrounding Molecular Clouds

Abstract: We present an analysis of γ -ray emission in the direction of supernova remnant (SNR) G15.4+0.1 with 13 yr Fermi Large Area Telescope data. There are three point-like GeV sources in this region: one is spatially coincident with the TeV source HESS J1818-154 and is interpreted as the counterpart of HESS J1818-154. Its γ -ray spectrum can be well fitted by a single power law with an index of 2.3. The other two sources with log-parabola spectra are spatially coincident with dense regions of surrounding molecular clouds revealed by CO observations. Their γ -ray emission originates from hadronic π ^0 decay due to inelastic collisions between nuclei in the clouds and cosmic rays accelerated in and escaping from SNR G15.4+0.1. The total energy of the escaping protons is about 10 ^48 erg, assuming a point-like instantaneous injection. However, the inferred diffusion coefficients are lower than the typical Galactic value.

10. Insulator-to-metal transition in intermediate-band materials: insights from temperature-dependent transmission computations

Abstract: Insulator-to-metal (I–M) transition is crucial for an intermediate-band (IB) photovoltaic material to suppress the non-radiative recombinations and improve its efficiency. Nevertheless, the mechanism and critical condition of the I–M transition is not clear yet. In this work, the critical conditions of the I–M transition in two types of Si-based IB materials were studied by combining the molecular dynamics simulations and Landauer transmission calculations. It shows that the I–M transition of the substitutional configuration of S will occur when the filled IB is expanded and merged with the conduction band, which fulfills the Mott transition theory. But this type of IB material is not a standard IB material proposed by Luque. For the substitutional configuration of N, which can be regarded as a standard IB material, the I–M transition would be occurred when the partially-filled IB is expanded and the localization of the carriers in the IB is weakened. The metallic state of the IB material is different from typical metals and they still exhibit some semiconductor properties at low temperature.

Abstract: In this paper, a novel strategy was used to grow CeO _2 /Ce(OH)CO _3 composite in situ by the incomplete conversion of CeO _2 to Ce(OH)CO _3 using ethylene glycol (EG) as CO _3 ^2− source and solvent. Interestingly, the content of Ce(OH)CO _3 in CeO _2 /Ce(OH)CO _3 composite can be controlled by changing the solvent composition. The obtained CeO _2 /Ce(OH)CO _3 composite all exhibited enhanced photocatalytic performance for methylene blue (MB) degradation. The CeO _2 /Ce(OH)CO _3 composite prepared at 200 °C for 24 h with a H _2 O/EG volume ratio of 0.5 showed the best visible-light activity with a degradation efficiency of 98.84% within 120 min. This work provided a novel method to fabricate basic rare Earth carbonates and their composites for environmental purification.

12. Spatial-temporal variation of CO2 emissions from private vehicle use in Japan

Abstract: The transport sector is a major contributor to anthropogenic climate change through the emissions of large amounts of greenhouse gases from fossil fuel combustion. Private vehicles account for almost half of the transport energy demand, and are thus a major target for climate change mitigation efforts. However, emissions from private vehicles can have large variability due to various geographic, demographic and socioeconomic factors. This study aims to understand how such factors affect private vehicle emissions in Japan using a nationally representative survey of household energy consumption ( n = 7370) for 2017. The results indicate a large temporal and spatial variability in private vehicle emissions. Annual emissions show three peaks associated with major holiday seasons in winter and summer. Some of the more noteworthy spatial patterns are the higher emissions in prefectures characterized by low population density and mountainous terrain. Income, city size and the fuel-saving driving behavior all have a significant effect on emissions. The results indicate the need for sub-regional and socioeconomically-sensitive mitigation efforts that reflect the very different emission patterns, and the factors affecting them. The strong effect of city size, which is often much more clear-cut than between prefectures, suggests that it is more appropriate to approach transport decarbonization in Japan at the city level.

13. The driving forces behind the change in energy consumption in developing countries

Abstract: Economic growth is principally powered by energy fuels. While the potential energy transition pathways in developed countries are clear, they have not been well explored for developing countries. Here, we study the average annual growth rate of energy consumption in 12 aggregated regions during 2001–2017 and the driving factors behind that growth. The countries with high energy consumption growth rates were concentrated in Asia and North Africa and four of the top five regions were in Asia, while the energy consumption in developed countries was stable or even declined in that period. Therefore, based on a comprehensive consideration of factors such as population and economic development, to quantify the role of renewable energy, we analyze the long time series of energy consumption for China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and Bangladesh since the 1970s. Despite economic development and population growth accelerating energy consumption substantially upward, energy intensity made energy consumption decrease. Coal and oil dominated the energy transition pathway in China and India, while biomass and natural gas dominated in Indonesia, Myanmar and Bangladesh. The amount of CO _2 emissions in different countries was closely related to the amount and type of the energy they used. Our research results emphasize the importance of improving energy efficiency and adjusting energy structure to reduce energy consumption and achieve sustainable development.

14. Supply chain effects of China’s fast growing marine economy on greenhouse gas emissions

Abstract: The marine economic activities has become a vital economic driving force for development of China’s economy. However, the trajectory of greenhouse gas (i.e. GHG) emissions associated the fast growing marine economy and its role in emission mitigation remain unclear. Through compiling high-resolution and time-series environmental input–output tables for 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017, this study quantify development of 13 key marine industries in driving national economic development and its supply chains, and assesses the direct and indirect contributions of marine industries to the national economy and GHGs emissions. Our results show that the total emissions of marine economy increased by 2.3 times from 2002 to 2017, and the share of that in national total emissions increased by 43.3%. The economic output of marine economy may lead to up to 1.8 times of the total economic output in the upstream industries, while the indirect emissions of major marine economy embodied in the upstream supply chains is on average 3.5 times of direct emissions from marine industries. Our findings highlight the necessity of considering total supply chain GHGs emissions associated with the fast growing marine economy to better achieve China’s climate mitigation targets.

15. Theoretical design of mid-infrared interband cascade lasers in SiGeSn system

Abstract: By carefully analyzing the latest composition-dependent parameters of SiGeSn alloys, we come to realize that this system could provide type-II energy band alignment at direct bandgap condition. The discovery inspires us to explore the mid-infrared interband cascade laser (ICL) in SiGeSn system. Based on the eight-band k ⋅ p model, we theoretically design three schemes of ICL, in which the active region and the carrier injectors are optimized simultaneously. Afterward, the properties of TE-mode optical gain spectrums and differential gain are investigated individually for each scheme. Furthermore, the spontaneous emission spectrums and radiative current density are also calculated. Our theoretical results indicate that the active region composed of double-electron and triple-hole quantum wells has the best gain performance, reaching 660 cm ^−1 for a single period of the ICL under 7.8 × 10 ^18 cm ^−3 injected electron density. This work opens up another type of infrared lasers that can be developed from the group-IV system, offering a new pathway to achieving the monolithic integration in Si photonics.

20. Theoretical investigation of F-P cavity mode manipulation by single gold nanoparticles

Abstract: The ability to manipulate microlaser is highly desirable towards high-performance optoelectronic devices. Here we demonstrate feasible mode manipulation of Fabry-Pérot type microlasers of a perovskite nanowire via incorporation of single gold nanoparticles. The influences of resonant wavelength, quality factor and emission directions are successively investigated using a two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method. It is found that blueshift of resonant wavelength could be achieved together with either promoted or degraded quality factor of microlaser via single Au NPs with varied sizes. Unidirectional emission could also be realized that is favorable for on-chip integration. Our results provide useful reference for feasible manipulation of light-matter interactions and mode selection.

22. Electrodeposited Ni-Co-P Triple-Layered Structure as A Robust and Durable Electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Evolution.

Abstract: Designing Earth-abundant, cost-effective catalysts for hydrogen evolution via water splitting is essential for hydrogen generation. Adding a third metal element to binary phosphides provides the opportunity to tune their morphology, crystalline and electronic structures and thus their electrocatalytic properties. In this study, a hierarchical crystalline/amorphous Ni-Co-P compound is prepared on nickel foam (NF) with different nickel to cobalt ratio by one-step electrodepositing technique. The Ni-Co-P/NF is composed of metallic Co and amorphous phosphides. It has hierarchical morphology, consisting of ~800 nm spherical particles in the bottom layer, ~1.5 μm spherical particles in the middle layer, and staggered network structure on the top layer. The Ni-Co-P/NF electrode exhibits superior hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalytic activity in the alkaline solution, which requires only 72 mV for delivering 10 mA cm-2. More importantly, the Ni-Co-P/NF catalyst sustains the current density of 20 mAcm-2 for 53 h with negligible degradation in overpotential which shows remarkable electrochemical stability. 23. Research and application of load forecasting method for park integrated energy system based on XGBoost algorithm

Abstract: Load forecasting is the basis of energy management and optimal dispatching of the park-integrated energy system, and its forecasting accuracy directly affects the overall operation performance of the system. Therefore, this paper proposes a load forecasting method for the park-integrated energy system based on the XGBoost algorithm. This paper first establishes the simulation analysis model of photovoltaic power generation and electric vehicle charging and discharging in the park and then carries out the supply and demand forecast and load characteristic modeling of the park’s energy system. Finally, this paper constructs the power prediction optimization control flow based on the XGBoost prediction model and uses the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and root mean square error (RMSE) as two evaluation indicators. The validity of the proposed method is verified by the data of the actual micro energy system in the park.

24. Rigorous solution to second harmonic generation considering transmission and reflection of light at air–crystal interface

Abstract: Considering the transmission and reflection of TE-polarized pump light at the air–crystal interface, the second harmonic generation (SHG) in a lithium niobate (LN) crystal is investigated theoretically and systematically in this work. In previous studies, the theoretical analyses of reflection and transmission of incident wave in the process of nonlinear frequency conversion were not considered in LN crystal on account of the complicated calculations. First, we establish a physical picture describing that a beam of light in TE mode transports in the LN crystal considering transmission and reflection at the crystal surface and generates nonlinear second-order optical polarization in crystal. Then we analytically derive the reflection coefficient and transmission coefficient of pump light by using the dispersion relationships and electromagnetic boundary conditions. We construct the nonlinear coupled wave equations, derive and present the small signal approximation solution and the general large signal solution exactly. Under the transmission model and reflection model, we find that the conversion efficiency of the second-harmonic wave is obviously dependent on transmission coefficient and other general physical quantities such as the length of LN crystal and the amplitude of pump light. Our analytical theory and formulation can act as an accurate tool for the quantitative evaluation of the SHG energy conversion efficiency in an LN crystal under practical situations, and it can practically be used to treat other more complicated and general nonlinear optics problems.

26. Plasma density transition-based electron injection in laser wake field acceleration driven by a flying focus laser

Abstract: By using a high-intensity flying focus laser, the dephasingless [Phys. Rev. Lett. 124 134802 (2020)] or phase-locked [Nat. Photon. 14 475 (2020)] laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) can be realized, which may overcome issues of laser diffraction, pump depletion, and electron dephasing which are always suffered in usual LWFA. The scheme thus has the potentiality to accelerate electrons to TeV energy in a single acceleration stage. However, the controlled electron injection has not been self-consistently included in such schemes. Only external injection was suggested in previous theoretical studies, which requires other accelerators and is relatively difficulty to operate. Here, we numerically study the actively controlled density transition injection in phase-locked LWFA to get appropriate density profiles for amount of electron injection. The study shows that compared with LWFA driven by lasers with fixed focus, a larger plasma density gradient is necessary. Electrons experience both transverse and longitudinal loss during acceleration due to the superluminal group velocity of the driver and the variation of the wakefield structure. Furthermore, the periodic deformation and fracture of the flying focus laser in the high-density plasma plateau make the final injected charge also depend on the beginning position of the density downramp. Our studies show a possible way for amount of electron injection in LWFA driven by flying focus lasers.

Abstract: Excitons in solid state are bosons generated by electron-hole pairs as the Coulomb screening is sufficiently reduced. The exciton condensation can result in exotic physics such as super-fluidity and insulating state. In charge density wave (CDW) state, 1T-TiSe2 is one of the candidates that may host the exciton condensation. However, to envision its excitonic effect is still challenging, particularly at the two-dimensional limit, which is applicable to future devices. Here, we realize the epitaxial 1T-TiSe2 bilayer, the two-dimensional limit for its 2 × 2 × 2 CDW order, to explore the exciton-associated effect. By means of high-resolution scanning tunneling spectroscopy and quasiparticle interference, we discover an unexpected state residing below the conduction band and right within the CDW gap region. As corroborated by our theoretical analysis, this mysterious phenomenon is in good agreement with the electron-exciton coupling. Our study provides a material platform to explore exciton-based electronics and opto-electronics.

Abstract: Submarine cables have been used for more than one hundred years, while they have been widely used in recent decades. Safety has always been an issue with submarine cable applications because of their fast expansion. Submarine cables are more susceptible to operational risks and failure than terrestrial cables. Once the submarine cable malfunctions, it will bring huge inconvenience to production and life, which will cause huge economic losses. Therefore, it is very necessary to quickly locate the fault point of the cable and complete the emergency repair work. This article provides a 3D monitoring method for submarine cables, with a simulation monitoring system built in the laboratory to verify the method’s feasibility.

Abstract: This paper studies a quantum particle traveling in a fractal space-time, which can be modelled by a fractional modification of the Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients. The Fourier spectral method is used to reveal the solution properties numerically, and the fractal properties are illustrated graphically by choosing different coefficients and different fractional orders. Some novel isosurface plots of the dynamics of pattern formation in the fractional Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients are shown.

31. Spin-multiplexing phase-driven varifocal metalenses for multidimensional beam splitting and binary switching

Abstract: The Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phase, subject to geometric phase, is currently utilized to implement spin-dependent optical functions. Simultaneously achieving spin-multiplexing and varifocal performances via a single-cell-designed metasurface that purely relies on PB phases has been scarcely proposed due to the quite sophisticated degrees of freedom to be taken into account. Here, by virtue of pure PB phases composed of convex and concave phases, spin-multiplexing and varifocal metalenses based on a single-cell-designed approach are developed. The unit cell consists of Ge2Sb2Se4Te1 (GSST) nanopillar pairs setting on CaF2 substrate. By adopting the specified pure PB phases, the proposed metalenses can focus the left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) incidences into different positions. By ingenious design, the Ge2Sb2Se4Te1-based unit cell can work like a half-wave plate at two wavelength bands depending on the Ge2Sb2Se4Te1 phase states, enabling the proposed metalenses phase-driven zoom focusing. Particularly, the unique phase transition of GSST empowers the proposed schemes with binary switching focusing merit and large switching contrast ratio. The new design strategy constitutes a novel avenue in designing spin-multiplexing and varifocal optical devices, showing great potential in imaging, optical storage and optical interconnections.

Abstract: Currently, the power transmission engineering electromagnetic environment monitoring instrument is widely used but cannot realize the power frequency electric field monitoring if the humidity is above 80%. By analyzing the influence factors of the humidity on the measuring instrument, this paper puts forward the power frequency electromagnetic field measurement method in the full humidity condition. The comparison test and data analysis are carried out under different humidity conditions. The distribution characteristic curve of the power frequency electric field is calculated by Maxwell software, and the accuracy of the measured data is verified from the theoretical calculation. The analysis proves that the power frequency electromagnetic field is independent of the environmental humidity, which strongly supports the electromagnetic environment measurement on rainy days of high humidity weather conditions.

33. D ∗ jet fragmentation function paradox and combination mechanism

Abstract: In the framework of the perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics factorization, the production of a hadron includes contributions from fragmentation as well as combination, with the latter being of higher twist. In particular, the heavy meson production can be via the combination of a heavy quark with a light one, and the cross section can be factorized to be the convolution of the combination matrix element, the light quark distribution function, and the hard partonic sub-cross section of the heavy quark production. The partonic distribution and the combination matrix element are functions of a scaling variable, respectively, which is the momentum fraction of the corresponding quark with respect to the heavy meson. We studied the D *± production in jet via combination in pp collision at the LHC. The total result is comparable with the experimental data. The combination matrix elements can be further studied in various hadron production processes.

36. High-order harmonic generation of the cyclo[18]carbon molecule irradiated by circularly polarized laser pulse

Abstract: High-order harmonic generation of the cyclo[18]carbon (C18) molecule under few-cycle circularly polarized laser pulse is studied by time-dependent density functional theory. Compared with the harmonic emission of the ring molecule C6H6 having similar ionization potential, the C18 molecule has higher efficiency and cutoff energy than C6H6 with the same laser field parameters. Further researches indicate that the harmonic efficiency and cutoff energy of the C18 molecule increase gradually with the increase of the laser intensity of the driving laser or decrease of the wavelength, both are larger than those of the C6H6 molecule. Through the analysis of the time-dependent evolution of the electronic wave packets, it is also found that the higher efficiency of harmonic generation can be attributed to the larger spatial scale of the C18 molecule, which leads to a greater chance for the ionized electrons from one atom to recombine with others of the parent molecule. Selecting the suitable driving laser pulse, it is demonstrated that high-order harmonic generation in the C18 molecule has a wide range of applications in producing circularly polarized isolated attosecond pulse.

37. An Electromagnetic Environment Monitoring Platform for AC-DC Parallel Line

Abstract: With the rapid development of China's economy, the electricity demand is increasing and the scale of power grid construction is expanding. Large-scale construction of transmission and substation projects leads to an increasing shortage of transmission corridors, which inevitably leads to the formation of parallel erection of AC and DC transmission patterns. When the AC and DC transmission lines are erected in parallel, the coupling effect makes the hybrid electromagnetic environment of the AC and DC parallel lines more complicated. In this paper, with the track-supported intelligent robot as the hardware and the AC-DC mixed electromagnetic environment data analysis management system as the software, an automated synchronous measurement system integrating the measurement equipment of frequency electric field, radio interference, synthetic electric field and meteorological monitoring equipment is established. It can realize mobile multi-point time-divisional measurement and dynamic management of data with one set of equipment, carry out hybrid electromagnetic environment monitoring for the typical AC-DC parallel line sections that have been put into operation, and provide technical support for the rational design of subsequent large-scale UHV projects and the evaluation of the AC-DC hybrid electromagnetic environment.

38. ISAR Imaging Method for High-speed Maneuvering Target Based on MFT-UNET3+ Network

Abstract: When inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) images a high-speed maneuvering target, the imaging results of traditional methods are blurred and defocused in the range and azimuth directions because of the high speed and acceleration of the target. The existing imaging methods of maneuvering targets have poor imaging effects or low efficiency, and can’t eliminate the migration through range cells (MTRC) of far points on the target. Given that the existing methods can’t meet the imaging requirements of high-speed maneuvering targets, a new method by combing the UNET3+ convolution neural network (CNN) to machting Fourier transform (MFT) imaging process is proposed in this paper. Overcoming the limitations of the existing imaging methods, the proposed method can realize fast and accurate imaging for high-speed maneuvering targets. Experiments show that the novel MFT-UNET3+ method can achieve a good focus even under the condition of a low signal-to-noise ratio and down-sampling.

39. Transgenic Schwann cells overexpressing POU6F1 promote sciatic nerve regeneration within acellular nerve allografts

Abstract: Objective. Acellular nerve allograft (ANA) is an effective surgical approach used to bridge the sciatic nerve gap. The molecular regulators of post-surgical recovery are not well-known. Here, we explored the effect of transgenic Schwann cells (SCs) overexpressing POU domain class 6, transcription factor 1 (POU6F1) on sciatic nerve regeneration within ANAs. We explored the functions of POU6F1 in nerve regeneration by using a cell model of H2O2-induced SCs injury and transplanting SCs overexpressing POU6F1 into ANA to repair sciatic nerve gaps. Approach. Using RNA-seq, Protein–Protein Interaction network analysis, gene ontology enrichment, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis, we identified a highly and differentially expressed transcription factor, POU6F1, following ANA treatment of sciatic nerve gap. Expressing a high degree of connectivity, POU6F1 was predicted to play a role in peripheral nervous system myelination. Main results. To test the role of POU6F1 in nerve regeneration after ANA, we infected SCs with adeno-associated virus—POU6F1, demonstrating that POU6F1 overexpression promotes proliferation, anti-apoptosis, and migration of SCs in vitro. We also found that POU6F1 significantly upregulated JNK1/2 and c-Jun phosphorylation and that selective JNK1/2 inhibition attenuated the effects of POU6F1 on proliferation, survival, migration, and JNK1/2 and c-Jun phosphorylation. The direct interaction of POU6F1 and activated JNK1/2 was subsequently confirmed by co-immunoprecipitation. In rat sciatic nerve injury model with a 10 mm gap, we confirmed the pattern of POU6F1 upregulation and co-localization with transplanted SCs. ANAs loaded with POU6F1-overexpressing SCs demonstrated the enhanced survival of transplanted SCs, axonal regeneration, myelination, and functional motor recovery compared to the ANA group loaded by SCs-only in line with in vitro findings. Significance. This study identifies POU6F1 as a novel regulator of post-injury sciatic nerve repair, acting through JNK/c-Jun signaling in SCs to optimize therapeutic outcomes in the ANA surgical approach.

40. Experimental study of condensation characteristics and operation strategies of induction radiant air-conditioning system

Abstract: To study the operation and condensation characteristics of an induction radiant air-conditioning system as a novel system that combines induction ventilation and radiant air conditioning, the characteristics of convection and condensation of an indoor terminal device radiant induction unit were studied. The mass transfer coefficient, condensation temperature, and condensation rate were analyzed experimentally. The time required to achieve a steady state indoor thermal environment was collected. The results indicated that the primary airflow rate and temperature mainly affected the mass transfer coefficient, condensation temperature, and condensation rate. When the indoor thermal environment reached a steady state, the heat transfer performance of the radiant induction unit was mainly affected by the primary air temperature. When condensation occurred, the primary airflow rate had a greater influence on the condensation rate. The start-up and response performances of the system were better than those of a traditional radiant air-conditioning system. In the condensation condition, reasonable control strategies maintain the primary air temperature and adjust the primary air flow rate, which can ensure sufficient heat transfer and stabilize the indoor thermal environment faster.

41. An elevation stochastic model constrained by C/N0 for GNSS real-time kinematic positioning in harsh environments

Abstract: When the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is used for positioning in harsh environments with high occlusion and strong reflection, the signals are easily reflected, diffracted, or even blocked, which can lead to multipath and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors. Existing stochastic models do not fully consider the significant unmodeled errors, such as multipath and NLOS, in specific scenarios such as canyons. This paper systematically establishes the carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N0) template functions of the low-cost receiver for the first time and proposes an elevation stochastic model constrained by C/N0 (elevation-C/N0 model) by combining the two indicators (elevation angle and C/N0) with the idea of robust estimation. Then, real-time kinematic positioning (RTK) experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the new model, and both static monitoring and urban kinematic situations are included. The results showed that: (a) in the static data, the average ambiguity fixed rate of the elevation-C/N0 model is 95.79%, which is 10.05%, 15.74%, and 12.57% higher than that of the equal-weight, elevation-based, and C/N0-based stochastic models, respectively. At the same time, only the new model consistently meets centimeter-level accuracy requirements in harsh environments. (b) In the kinematic data, compared with the three traditional stochastic models, the ambiguity fixed rate of the elevation-C/N0 stochastic model is increased by 58.33%, 19.79%, and 28.13%, respectively. The motion trajectory calculated by the elevation-C/N0 model is the smoothest out of all the models. In conclusion, compared with the traditional stochastic models, the elevation-C/N0 stochastic model is more applicable to both static and kinematic measurements in harsh environments. It can effectively mitigate the adverse effects of errors such as multipath and NLOS, increase the ambiguity fixed rate, and improve the positioning reliability to a certain extent, hence the proposed method has a better positioning performance.

42. Graphene hyperbolic metamaterials: Fundamentals and applications

Abstract: Metamaterials have shown potential for next-generation optical materials since they have special electromagnetic responses which cannot be obtained in natural media. Among various metamaterials, hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs) with highly anisotropic hyperbolic dispersion provide new ways to manipulate electromagnetic waves. Besides, graphene has attracted lots of attention since it possesses excellent optoelectronic properties. Graphene HMMs combine the extraordinary properties of graphene and the strong light modulation capability of HMMs. The experimental fabrication of graphene HMMs recently proved that graphene HMMs are a good platform for terahertz optical devices. The flexible tunability is a hallmark of graphene-based HMMs devices by external gate voltage, electrostatic biasing, or magnetic field, etc. This review provides an overview of up-to-now studies of graphene HMMs and an outlook for the future of this field.

43. Relativistic quantum scarring, spin-induced phase, and quantization in a symmetric Dirac billiard system

Abstract: Thirty-five years ago, Sir Michael Berry and his collaborator Mondragon studied the behaviors of neutrino, a massless relativistic quantum particle, in a classically chaotic billiard—the neutrino billiard problem. To celebrate Sir Michael Berry’s eightieth birthday, here we report results on the role of geometric symmetries of the billiard system in relativistic quantum scarring. In particular, we investigate a Dirac billiard system with a four-fold rotational symmetry whose classical dynamics are fully chaotic. The system is described by the massless Dirac equation in the fundamental domain that consists of one fourth of the full billiard, with proper boundary conditions on the symmetry lines to preserve the physical properties under the symmetry operations. We show that the relativistic quantum characteristics of spin induced phase play a fundamental role in the quantum behaviors of the Dirac particle in the billiard. We find that the peaks in the length spectra are due to the interference of states circling the fundamental domain orbits (FDOs) in opposite propagating directions, which can be constructive or destructive depending on the accumulated phases. In addition, we derive the quantization conditions of the scarring states about the unstable periodic orbits within the fundamental domain from the phase along the FDOs. Our work is a vivid demonstration that relativistic quantum scarring, or more generally quantum manifestations of classical chaos, can be fully understood by analyzing the behaviors of the geometric phase—a powerful approach in modern physics pioneered by Sir Michael Berry.

44. Radiation effects of electrons on multilayer FePS3 studied with laser plasma accelerator

Abstract: Space radiation with inherently broadband spectral flux poses a huge danger to astronauts and electronics on aircraft, but it is hard to simulate such feature with conventional radiation sources. Using a tabletop laser-plasma accelerator, we can reproduce exponential energy particle beams as similar as possible to these in space radiation. We used such an electron beam to study the electron radiation effects on the surface structure and performance of two-dimensional material (FePS3). Energetic electron beam led to bulk sample cleavage and damage between areas of uneven thickness. For the FePS3 sheet sample, electron radiation transformed it from crystalline state to amorphous state, causing the sample surface to rough. The full widths at the half maximum of characteristic Raman peaks became larger, and the intensities of characteristic Raman peaks became weak or even disappeared dramatically under electron radiation. This trend became more obvious for thinner samples, and this phenomenon was attributed to the cleavage of P–P and P–S bonds, destabilizing the bipyramid structure of [P2S6]4– unit. The results are of great significance for testing the maximum allowable radiation dose for the two-dimensional material, implying that FePS3 cannot withstand such energetic electron radiation without an essential shield.

45. Streamer-to-spark transitions in deionized water: unsymmetrical structure and two-stage model

Abstract: This letter focuses on the streamer-to-spark transitions generated by microsecond pulsed discharges (±20 kV of amplitude, 150 μs of pulse width) in deionized water to provide a quantitative insight into the underwater breakdown process. The discharge channel during underwater electrical breakdown is generally considered as a homogenous blackbody radiator by the arc model. However, we report an unsymmetrical structure of negative breakdown channel in water which shows great discrepancy from the frequently observed uniform structure. An improved two-stage analytical model is proposed to quantitatively estimate the parameter variations of the discharge channels, e.g. radius, temperature, pressure. The calculated results show that the discrepancy in parameters of different parts of negative discharge channel is tremendous. Specifically, during negative electrical breakdown, the region of discharge channel near ground electrode owns greatest values in characteristic parameters (e.g. T max = 22 300 K, P max = 0.145 GPa and v max = 219 m s−1), which are far above the counterparts of main body of channel. By introducing field ionization and impact ionization mechanisms during the propagation of the streamer, we explain the rapid expansion of positive discharge channel and the regions of negative channel near the needle tip as well as the ground electrode. Besides, the deposited homocharges at the gas–liquid interface weaken the ionizations in main body of negative breakdown channel, and hence causing the formation of the unsymmetrical structure.

46. Simulating the resonance-mediated (1 + 2)-three-photon absorption enhancement in Pr3+ ions by a rectangle phase modulation

Abstract: Enhancing the upconversion luminescence of rare earth ions is crucial for their applications in the laser sources, fiber optic communications, color displays, biolabeling, and biomedical sensors. In this paper, we theoretically study the resonance-mediated (1 + 2)-three-photon absorption in Pr3+ ions by a rectangle phase modulation. The results show that the resonance-mediated (1 + 2)-three-photon absorption can be effectively enhanced by properly designing the depth and width of the rectangle phase modulation, which can be attributed to the constructive interference between on-resonant and near-resonant three-photon excitation pathways. Further, the enhancement efficiency of resonance-mediated (1 + 2)-three-photon absorption can be affected by the pulse width (or spectral bandwidth) of femtosecond laser field, final state transition frequency, and absorption bandwidths. This research can provide a clear physical picture for understanding and controlling the multi-photon absorption in rare-earth ions, and also can provide theoretical guidance for improving the up-conversion luminescence.

47. Research on performance parameter degradation of high voltage and high power IGBT module in power cycling test

Abstract: In Power cycling test, for low-voltage and low-power modules, it is generally considered that the saturation voltage drop VCE(sat) reaches 105% of the initial value or the thermal resistance Rth reaches 120% of the initial value as the basis for judging the failure of the IGBT module. However, since the high-voltage and high-power IGBT modules are connected in parallel with multiple chips, there are differences in the aging speed of the chips, and the degradation of individual chips has little influence on the parameters of the entire module, so the failure judgment standard may not be applicable. In order to obtain the degradation of the characteristic parameters of the high-voltage and high-power IGBT module in the power cycle test, this paper selects the 6500V/600A IGBT module as the research object, adopts the experimental method of constant junction temperature fluctuation, and tests the module parameters after every cycle 20,000 times until the module fails. Three failure modes were found through the test: GE failure, CE failure, GE and CE failure. And the degradation law of the parameters of the high-voltage and high-power IGBT module during the power cycling test was obtained.

48. Interfacial defect engineering and photocatalysis properties of hBN/MX 2 (M = Mo, W, and X = S, Se) heterostructures

Abstract: Van der Waals (VDW) heterostructures have attracted significant research interest due to their tunable interfacial properties and potential applications in many areas such as electronics, optoelectronic, and heterocatalysis. In this work, the influences of interfacial defects on the electronic structures and photocatalytic properties of hBN/MX 2 (M = Mo, W, and X = S, Se) are studied using density functional theory calculations. The results reveal that the band alignment of hBN/MX 2 can be adjusted by introducing vacancies and atomic doping. The type-I band alignment of the host structure is maintained in the heterostructure with n-type doping in the hBN sublayer. Interestingly, the band alignment changed into the type-II heterostructrue due to VB defect and p-type doping is introduced into the hBN sublayer. This can conduce to the separation of photo-generated electron–hole pairs at the interfaces, which is highly desired for heterostructure photocatalysis. In addition, two Z-type heterostructures including hBN(BeB)/MoS2, hBN(BeB)/MoSe2, and hBN(VN)/MoSe2 are achieved, showing the decreasing of band gap and ideal redox potential for water splitting. Our results reveal the possibility of engineering the interfacial and photocatalysis properties of hBN/MX 2 heterostructures via interfacial defects.

49. Force-constant-decayed anisotropic network model: An improved method for predicting RNA flexibility

Abstract: RNA is an important biological macromolecule, which plays an irreplaceable role in many life activities. RNA functions are largely determined by its tertiary structure and the intrinsic dynamics encoded in the structure. Thus, how to effective extract structure-encoded dynamics is of great significance for understanding RNA functions. Anisotropic network model (ANM) is an efficient method to investigate macromolecular dynamical properties, which has been widely used in protein studies. However, the performance of the conventional ANM in describing RNA flexibility is not as good as that on proteins. In this study, we proposed a new approach, named force-constant-decayed anisotropic network model (fcd-ANM), to improve the performance in investigating the dynamical properties encoded in RNA structures. In fcd-ANM, nucleotide pairs in RNA structure were connected by springs and the force constant of springs was decayed exponentially based on the separation distance to describe the differences in the inter-nucleotide interaction strength. The performance of fcd-ANM in predicting RNA flexibility was evaluated using a non-redundant structure database composed of 51 RNAs. The results indicate that fcd-ANM significantly outperforms the conventional ANM in reproducing the experimental B-factors of nucleotides in RNA structures, and the Pearson correlation coefficient between the predicted and experimental nucleotide B-factors was distinctly improved by 21.05% compared to the conventional ANM. Fcd-ANM can serve as a more effective method for analysis of RNA dynamical properties.

50. Surface electron doping induced double gap opening in T d-WTe2

Abstract: By using scanning tunneling microscopy, we investigated the electronic evolution of T d-WTe2 via in-situ surface alkali K atoms deposition. The T d-WTe2 surface is electron doped upon K deposition, and as the K coverage increases, two gaps are sequentially opened near Fermi energy, which probably indicates that two phase transitions concomitantly occur during electron doping. The two gaps both show a dome-like dependence on the K coverage. While the bigger gap shows no prominent dependence on the magnetic field, the smaller one can be well suppressed and thus possibly corresponds to the superconducting transition. This work indicates that T d-WTe2 exhibits rich quantum states closely related to the carrier concentration.
