Sheep farming is an important social and economic support for the population living in semi-arid zones. These climatic conditions in these regions - a high radiant heat load, especially - may require adjustments in physiology and behavior of the animal to enable their survival. The increased respiratory rate and rectal temperature, with seeking behavioral patterns reduced grazing time and increased idle time are recurrent in the literature as the main physiological and behavioral responses of sheep grazing in high radiant heat load environments. The presence of shadow, natural or artificial, can encourage and facilitate thermolysis physiological adjustments sheep without harm, predominantly, your metabolism. Thus, the objective of compiling information on the main patterns of behavior, as well as major physiological responses of sheep grazing in semi-arid zones.

Buffaloes have become an economically viable source of protein, due to its adaptability, precocity and longevity. The dogma that high productivity cannot be related with the animal welfare needs to be effectively broken down by making the producers aware, based on education and science, of the appropriate treatment to animals favors the productivity. To high milk production buffaloes and with ability for milking, this happens without suckling calves which are artificially suckled. This technique, when not properly performed, can provide negative consequences, like difficulties in animal adaptation to the milking environment, especially those who are facing this experience for the first time, like primiparous buffaloes. The development of methods for temperament evaluation added to management improvements in the productive unit is valuable to improve the welfare conditions for animals. The behavioral observation in the milking environment is a very important tool for the determination of the animal's temperamental score which, in turn, is substantial to determine the level of welfare and conditioning/performance in this activity, and thus minimizing problems and negative consequences for animal handlers, animals and producer

The aim of this study was to analyse the physiological parameters of horses remnants of the Nordestino Horse breed used in cattle handling in the caatinga bioma , before and after the working activity . 16 castrated males were used. The animals were evaluated in two stages : At the begin and after the cattle handling . Heart rate , respiratory rate, skin temperature on the rump , side , scapula, neck and mean surface temperature were verified . The experimental design was a completely randomized with two treatments and 16 replications, and the values were submitted to analysis of variance and mean test ( Tukey at 5% probability) . Except for respiratory frequency and surface temperature of the rump , there was no statistical difference ( P < 0.05), in all the other variables , which increased its average value after performing the cattle handling . The Nordestino Horse breed showed to be well adapted to cattle handling in the caatinga bioma.
