Women and ethnic minorities may have different responses to the AIDS virus, and doctors should take this into account when treating them. In a study of 1,256 female and 1,603 male HIV patients, women had more rapid decreases in CD4+ T cell counts than men and non-whites had slower decreases than whites.

This article examines the effects of an aerobic exercise training program on stroke volume, cardiac output, and oxygen utilization in groups arranged by race, gender, and age. Results indicate that changes in cardiovascular function and level of adaption to intense physical training were similar across groups.

Results indicate that training significantly reduced blood pressure and heart rate during exercise with black and older participants experiencing the greatest changes.
