Abstract

The article presents a study that investigated the feasibility of using computerized algorithm in detecting ineffective triggering (IT) in the expiratory phase (ITE) in mechanically-ventilated patients. A total of 14 mechanically ventilated adult patients were evaluated at a medical intensive care unit (MICU) of a university hospital. It found that the accuracy of detecting and quantifying ITEs can be feasible with the use of a computerized algorithm.
