Abstract

The article presents a research study that examines the efficacy of the Anticoagulation Use Evaluation and Life Threatening Events Sentinels of atrial fibrillation project in ensuring adherence to oral anticoagulation (OAC) guidelines for thromboprophylaxis through the use of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). Methods employed are discussed involving fifty Italian cardiology clinics. Results are presented showing the possibility of improved OAC use with reports on risk factors. more...

Abstract

The article presents a study which compares ramp versus burst antitachycardia pacing (ATP) therapies to treat fast ventricular tachyarrhythmias in patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators. The results indicate that burst is more effective compared to ramp especially in terminating fast ventricular tachycardias (FVT). It was also found out that ATP carries a low risk of acceleration or syncopal events. more...
