Abstract

The article presents a study aimed to determine whether the coadministration of cobicistat, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved antiretroviral boosting agent, increases the systemic exposure and anticoagulant effects of dabigatran. Topics discussed include the drug interaction study being conducted in healthy HIV-negative volunteers, possibility of HIV patients to altered susceptibility to the interaction, and need for future of patients receiving concomitant dabigatran and cobicistat.
