People's experiences of living with cancer suggest that spirituality creates purpose and meaning in life for patients. Strengthening spirituality has positive effects on coping, mental health, and symptoms of the disease. This study examines the effect of spiritual care on adolescents coping with cancer. This research is a single-group, quasi-experimental, pre-/poststudy conducted on 32 adolescents. The spiritual care program was presented individually and face to face over six 45-minute sessions held on the admission days. Data were collected using the Ways of Coping Questionnaire by Lazarus and Folkman. A significant difference was observed between the pretest and posttest mean values in all the coping subscales, which suggests the effect of spiritual care on adolescents' coping with cancer, but no significant differences were observed between the posttest and follow-up mean values, which shows the importance of the continuity of spiritual care in adolescent patients. According to the results, spirituality-based care programs offered by nurses can positively affect adolescents' coping with cancer and improve their overall coping. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This qualitative study was conducted to investigate the spiritual challenges faced by Iranian family caregivers of patients with cancer. Background: Chemotherapy is one of the cancer treatments among adolescents, after which nursing care at home is required due to developing side effects such as constipation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. One solution to deliver nursing care is to provide remote self-management training., Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of telenursing on the self-management of gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms among adolescents undergoing chemotherapy., Methods: In this intervention study, 66 adolescents 12 to 18 years of age who were referred to teaching hospitals for receiving chemotherapy were selected through randomized block sampling. The data were collected through demographic and clinical questionnaires, the researcher-made form for GI symptoms and conditions, and the researcher-made questionnaire for the self-management of GI symptoms among adolescents. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 20., Results: The findings show that there was no significant statistical difference between the control group and the intervention group in terms of demographic characteristics. According to the independent-samples t test and repeated-measures analysis of variance, using an educational website had a significant positive impact on the scores of GI symptoms self-management, 1 week and 1 month after the intervention (P < .001)., Conclusions: Given that the intervention group patients could better manage their GI symptoms on their own by visiting the educational website Cancer Information, it can be concluded that telenursing can affect the self-management of GI symptoms among adolescent patients with cancer who receive chemotherapy., Implications for Practice: The website Cancerinformation.ir can be used in the self-management of GI symptoms in cancer patients., Competing Interests: The authors have no conflicts of interest to disclose., (Copyright © 2024 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. Background: Childhood cancer confronts the child and the parents with considerable degrees of stress. Because caring for the child is mainly the role of the mother in most families, her ability to take care of the affected child is very important., Objective: To explore the caregiving ability of Iranian mothers who have children diagnosed with cancer., Methods: In this present study, which was conducted using the Directed Qualitative Content Analysis Method, 11 parents having children diagnosed with cancer and 5 professional caregivers working at the Department of Hematology and Oncology of Mofid Children Hospital in Tehran, Iran, were selected using purposeful sampling method. Data were collected through semistructured interviews. Data analysis was performed simultaneously with data collection using the Directed Content Analysis Approach., Results: Five main categories emerged, namely, care exhaustion, care confusion, spiritual conflict, care competence, and care preparedness that represent the beneficiaries' perception of the caring ability of Iranian mothers of cancer-afflicted children., Conclusion: Study results revealed that the caregiving capacity of mothers nurturing cancer-stricken children can be evaluated across 5 domains, encompassing a spectrum of maternal requirements in child care. Purpose/aims: The aim of this study was to explore specialized clinical nurses' (SCNs') perceptions of "good care" through descriptions of actual care experiences., Design: We used a qualitative design with a conventional content analysis approach., Methods: We conducted semistructured interviews with 24 SCNs. These nurses have passed specialized clinical courses, are master's or bachelor's degree prepared, have additional course work beyond the bachelor degree, and practice with an expanded scope of responsibility. The participants were purposively sampled from general and specialty hospitals, and 6 field notes were collected., Results: We identified 3 overarching themes to classify the findings: patient-centered care, knowledge-based care, and skillful practice. Participants regarded these 3 components as interdependent and related, which we conceptualize as 3 sides of an equilateral triangle termed the Good Care Triangle., Conclusions: The Good Care Triangle provides a heuristic approach to consider professional standards from the perspectives of SCNs and provides needed insight into SCNs' perspectives on the fundamental yet underexplored concept of good care. Clinical leaders can consider how the 3 themes identified are reflected and enacted in the care practices of SCNs. Future research could examine the utility of the Good Care Triangle in guiding nursing education and evaluating SCNs' perspectives of the care that they are providing.

This qualitative study was based on the Technology Acceptance Model and conducted through directed content analysis to explore perceptions of nurses in Iran of the challenges of using an electronic documentation system. Participants were selected through purposive sampling via interview from a teaching hospital in western Iran. Data were analyzed using MAXQDA 10. Data consistency was ensured through validation methods and by the researcher's prolonged engagement in the subject. Twelve codes, four subcategories, and two main categories ("perceived usefulness" and "perceived difficulty") emerged from the analysis of the data based on the Technology Acceptance Model. "Perceived usefulness" consisted of the subcategories "subjective norms" and "experienced benefits"; and "perceived difficulty" contained the subcategories "rationalization" as well as "challenges in accepting change." According to the Technology Acceptance Model, to promote acceptance of this system, the benefits of usage should be highlighted. The biggest hurdle to acceptance is familiarity and comfort with previous methods.

The aim of this research study was to map nursing diagnoses and interventions documented and observed in a neonatal ICU to the Clinical Care Classification system and to validate the translation of these mapped diagnoses and interventions into Persian. This descriptive research used directed content analysis to map diagnoses and interventions to the Clinical Care Classification. Documentation reports of nursing care were extracted from a paper-based documentation system for infants hospitalized in April, May, and June 2011. Observations of care were conducted and compared with documentation to itemize any interventions not included in the documented record. Documented reports of nurses' care and recorded observations were analyzed through directed content analysis, and obtained expressions were mapped to the diagnoses and intervention coding system of the Clinical Care Classification and translated into Persian. Validation of the subsequent code translation was obtained from nursing experts using the Delphi method in two rounds. Findings showed the most frequent nursing diagnoses were related to respiratory condition of infants such as mechanical ventilation dependency (21.1%), and the most frequent nursing interventions were related to completing physician orders such as blood sampling and medication administration (23.9%). Only 47.8% of Clinical Care Classification diagnoses and interventions codes were reflected in the data set. The relatively low rate of nursing care documented in therecords could be due to both the lack of a nursingcare delivery framework, such as the nursing process, and the lack of any framework or standardization in the documentation system in this setting. Using a framework for care delivery and a coding system for documentation of care such as the ClinicalCare Classification would allow for the more complete documentation of nursing care and subsequently the ability to track and analyze this care.
