The article discusses a study of the effect of bactericidal antibiotics on inflammation and acute kidney injury (AKI) in experimental sepsis. The study used 52 anesthetized adult male Sprague-Dawley rats. Results showed greater AKI severity in animals treated with bactericidal antibiotics. Also cited are the limitations of the study, one of which is the use of septic rats induced with cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).

The article assesses the efficacy of three N-acetylcysteine regimens in treating acute kidney injury. The study reports that pretreatment with N-acetylcysteine is effective in reducing the occurrence and severity of acute kidney injury and is also shown to be effective in improving survival rates. Postreatment of N-acetylcysteine has been shown to increase folic acid toxicity. Among the regimens, only pretreatment was proven to be effective in increasing glutathione levels.

The article reports on the results of a study of the effects of hemoadsorption on cytokine removal and short-term survival in septic rats. A description of the experimental set-up and measurement methods is presented. The study concluded hemoadsorption reduced circulating cytokines, improved mean arterial pressure (MAP) and resulted in better short-term survival in cecal litigation and puncture (CLP)-induced septic rats.
