The article presents an artist's description of his experience with the art of abstract painting. It says abstract artists discard figure and nature and arrive at a core. Since no tried or tested criteria exists in abstract painting, abstract artists find, discover, reinvent or recreate anything which constitutes a viable art form. The author notes that in abstract painting, there is an eye at the end of the artist's pencil which is capable of penetrating a veil or thickness which initially blocks the personal general-purpose eye of the artist.
