Mysidopsis jenseni n. sp. is described from the Puget Sound area, Washington, USA from sand/rocky bottoms in depths of 8 to 15 m. This new species increases the number of American Pacific species of Mysidopsis to eight. Based on a collection of M. intii Holmquist, 1957 from coastal waters of Chile, a supplementary description of the male is presented and the female is described for the first time. The presence of a mid-dorsal lappet near the posterior margin of the carapace of females only distinguishes the new species from all other Mysidopsis species except M. velifera Brattegard, 1973 from the Caribbean. M. jenseni is further separated from its American Pacific congeners by the following combination of characters: antennal scale 34 times as long as wide with a rounded apex and distal suture; uropodal endopod with 89 spiniform setae along ventromedial margin; telson with 4654 spiniform setae along all margins. The presence of lobe-like protuberances on the basis and dactylus of thoracic endopods 38 was documented for the new species, M. intii and other species of Mysidopsis as well as species belonging to the other four genera within the Tribe Mysidopsini. A key to the species of Mysidopsis of the Pacific coasts of the Americas is given.

A new spinicaudatan species Triglypta jiyuanensis Liao & Huang sp. nov. is described from the Upper Jurassic Maao Formation in the Jiyuan Basin, northwestern Henan Province, China. The carapace of the new species is ornamented with punctae, linear arrangements of punctae, and radial lirae. The new species differs from those of the early Triglypta forms from the Middle Jurassic but closely resembles T. jianchangensis Wang, 2014 from the Upper Jurassic Tiaojishan Formation of western Liaoning Province. Our study provides new biostratigraphic evidence supporting that the Maao and Tiaojishan formations can be correlated. Moreover, we suggest that the Yangshuzhuang Formation in the Jiyuan Basin could correlate to the Haifanggou and the Longmen formations in the Yanliao area.

Spiders of the family Trochanteriidae are characterized by the carapace being extremely flat, with a reflex border, medium posterior eyes flattened, laterigrade legs, the absence of claw tufts, anterior lateral spinnerets with an incomplete distal article, and an inflatable and epiginal plate formed by a divided plate. Two out of the six worldwide genera of Trocantheriids have species in the Brazilian areas: Trochanteria Karsch and Vectius Simon. Here we present the redescription of Vectius niger and morphological data of Trochanteria gomezi, with an expansion of the distribution of these species in the Neotropical region and unpublished chromosomal data of both species. Mitotic and meiotic cells of both T. gomezi and V. niger showed 2n=22 and 2n=24 telocentric chromosomes, with a sex chromosome system of the type X1X2 in males/X1X1X2X2 in females. The chromosomal data shown here matches those found in trochanteriids to date.

A new species of coral-symbiont crab, Cymo mazu sp. nov., is described from the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by several unique morphological characteristics, including a smooth carapace armed with isolated spiny granules, chelipeds featuring large spines and granules, and a strongly concave endopodite of the first maxilliped. Molecular analysis using mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I DNA barcodes provides further support for the identification of the new species. The relationships between the new species and its congeners were elucidated through a combination of morphological and molecular evidence. Diagnostic characteristics for differentiation among species of Cymo are discussed, and an updated key to the species of the genus is provided.

Additional spider crab (superfamily Majoidea) material from four major French-led expeditions to the Papua New Guinea region were examined in this study. One new genus and four new species from the families Inachidae and Oregoniidae are described. Dorhynchus profundus n. sp. is close to D. rostratus (Sakai, 1932) but can easily be separated by the shape of the ambulatory dactylus and the proportionately lower protogastric spines. Achaeus pholcus n. sp. is unusual in that it occurs in deeper waters (beyond 500 m), and can be separated from A. lacertosus Stimpson, 1857, A. villosus Rathbun, 1916, and A. brevidactylus Sakai, 1938, by its distinctive carapace shape, structure of the frontal margin, regions of the carapace, antennular fossa, ambulatory dactylus, male pleon, and proportions of the chela. Parapleisticantha aie n. sp. is closest to P. japonica Yokoya, 1933, but differs in its proportionately longer carapace, more elongated basal antennal article, longer third maxilliped ischium and the relatively less curved male first gonopod with the distal part differently structured. A new genus (Orbicantha n. gen.) with one new species (Orbicantha sacrebleu n. gen., n. sp.) is also described; it is allied to Pleistacantha Miers, 1879, Parapleisticantha Yokoya 1933, and Pleisticanthoides Yokoya, 1933, but is distinctive in its subcircular carapace, shorter regions, short pseudorostral spines, possession of spines on the gastric, cardiac and branchial regions, some of which have rounded tips, a short ocular peduncle, a very short third antennal article, a quadrate epistome, and the more reduced P4 and P5. New records from the family Epialtidae are also reported: Griffinia gilloloensis (Rathbun, 1916), Hyastenus borradailei (Rathbun, 1907), and Oxypleurodon luzonicum (Rathbun, 1916). The taxonomy of Grypachaeus tenuicollis Takeda, 1978 (Oregoniidae) and Griffinia lappacea (Rathbun, 1918) (Epialtidae) is also discussed.

Two new species of pilumnid crabs, Heteropilumnus planus n. sp. and Pseudolitochira taiwang n. sp., are described from reefs in Taiwan. Heteropilumnus planus n. sp. is most similar to H. hirsutior (Lanchester, 1900) from Singapore and Japan, but can easily be distinguished by its distinctly flatter carapace, different anterolateral carapace armature, longer ambulatory legs, and male first gonopod structure. Pseudolitochira taiwang n. sp. is most similar to P. crinita Ng & Clark, 2022, from Papua New Guinea but can easily be separated by its carapace physiognomy, armature of the anterolateral carapace margin and proportionately shorter ambulatory legs. Heteropilumnus setosus (A. Milne-Edwards, 1873) is also transferred to Pseudolitochira; and compared with P. taiwang n. sp. The rarely reported acidopsid, Crinitocinus alcocki (Borradaile, 1900) is also recorded from Taiwan for the first time, substantially extending its known range northwards.

The northwestern Pacific soft bottom dwelling spider crab, Pisoides bidentatus (A. Milne-Edwards, 1873) (Brachyura: Majoidea: Epialtidae), is re-described using an integrative approach. As a result, it is transferred to the genus Scyra Dana, 1851 (Epialtidae) based on morphological and molecular data, as well as already described larval morphology, which certainly better reflects the phylogenetic relationships of the species. Japanese Pisoides ortmanni (Balss, 1924), for which morphology and ecology are very similar to P. bidentatus as well as Pugettia quadridens (De Haan, 1839) and the closely related Pugettia ferox Ohtsuchi & Kawamura, 2019, are also transferred to Scyra. The "reduced" morphology of both species is very different from the related northwestern Pacific Scyra spp. and Pugettia spp., which are mostly decorating algae-dwellers. We associate the relatively long ambulatory legs, a smooth tear-drop shaped carapace with a reduced dorsal armature and slightly pronounced pseudorostral spines, characteristic of P. bidentatus and P. ortmanni with their open soft (mainly sand) bottom habitats, where it is difficult to find a foothold or shelter, but it is necessary to resist constant currents. Such morphology is also characteristic of spider crabs of the genera Libinia Leach, 1815 and Doclea Leach, 1815 (Epialtidae: Pisinae), which are also living in similar habitats/conditions and represent a convergent morphological appearance.

A new genus, Jogoya, gen. nov., is established for a new species of stenopodid shrimp, Jogoya alucia sp. nov., the holotype and single specimen of which was collected during a manned submersible dive in the Bahamas in 2019, and two additional specimens collected during earlier expeditions, one also from the Bahamas and one from Anguilla. The new genus appears to occupy an intermediate position between Richardina A. Milne-Edwards, 1881 and Odontozona Holthuis, 1946. Jogoya gen. nov. is characterised by the presence of unusually large spines on the cervical cincture of the carapace, a feature shared with a species originally described as Odontozona foresti Hendrickx, 2002 and herein tentatively transferred to Jogoya gen. nov., as Jogoya foresti (Hendrickx, 2002), comb. nov. The most conspicuous morphological difference between J. alucia sp. nov. and J. foresti is in the armature of the posterior half of the carapace, with the latter species having a post-cervical cincture armed with strong spines, which is absent in the new species. The two species of Jogoya gen. nov. also differ greatly by their colour patterns.

A new species of Samadinia Richer de Forges & Ng, 2013, is described from deep-water off northeastern Queensland, Australia. Samadinia hela n. sp. is distinctive in having pseudorostral spines longer than the maximum carapace length, slender preorbital spines that are curved inwards over the base of the rostrum, and long and laterally flattened hepatic and lateral bracnchial spine plates. A new record of S. despereaux (Lee, Richer de Forges & Ng, 2019) from Queensland is also reported in this study.

The taxonomy of two species of Indian pilumnid crabs is treated herein. Heteropanope neolaevis Deb, 1985, originally described from northeastern India, is retained in the genus Aniptumnus Ng, 2002 as a valid species and removed from synonymy with Aniptumnus quadridentatus (De Man, 1895). A new species, Aniptumnus bijoyi, is described from southwestern India, based on distinguishing features in the carapace, thoracic sternum, pereopods and gonopods. With these developments, five species of Aniptumnus are now recognized.

The morphology of juveniles of Mithraculus forceps A. Milne-Edwards, 1875, raised in the laboratory, is described. The larvae were obtained from ovigerous females collected in the wild, maintained in the rearing system for culture of crabs (400 L). A total of 229 larvae (zoea I), from 7 females were distributed in lots of 20 larvae kept in glass flasks (500 ml), with seawater circulation and temperature and salinity constants, which were checked daily for molts or deaths. After the larvae reached the juvenile stage, exuviae and dead specimens were deposited in a scientific collection. We analyzed the external morphology (N = 10 ind.) of each size class (total = 8). We determined the number of size classes, based on carapace width CW vs. carapace length CL (mm) and its dispersion points, in which we can observe non-hierarchical groupings with no size classes overlapping. We analyzed the relative growth of the juveniles using the technique "Standard Major Axis'' (Type II regression). The relationships CW vs. CL and CW vs. AW showed negative allometry (b < 1; p < 0.05). The relationships CW vs. CPH and CW vs. CPL are isometric (b = 1; p > 0.05). The most remarkable morphological characters of the juveniles (first size class) are the following: spines at the anterior margin of the carapace, inner marginal teeth in the propodus and dactylus of the chelipeds, number of articles in the antennular endopod and the maxillular endopod, absence of setae on the maxillar endopod, and absence of rudimentary pleopods.

The taxonomy of the pinnotherid crab, Pinnotheres tivelae (Gordon, 1936), now assigned to Arcotheres Manning, 1993, is revised. Type specimens from Muscat, Gulf of Oman, are compared with extensive material from the type locality and Persian Gulf. Arcotheres tivelae is shown to be a valid species, is redescribed, figured to modern standards and males are reported for the first time. This species had been confused with A. placunae (Hornell Southwell, 1909) from Pakistan and western India, but the two species can be distinguished by the morphology of the carapace, third maxilliped, ambulatory leg features and characters of the male first gonopod. Arcotheres tivelae is morphologically closest to three other species also found in venerid clams, A. exiguus (Brger, 1895), A. rayi Ahyong Ng, 2007, and A. obesus (Dana, 1852), but the distal morphology of its male first gonopod is distinct from its congeners. Furthermore, A. tivelae is recorded from Kuwait for the first time.

A new species of the genus Alpheus Fabricius, 1798, A. mannarensis sp. nov. is described and represented based on the materials collected from the shallow and rocky reefs, Gulf of Mannar (Thoothukudi waters), Southern India. This is the first report of Alpheus species from the Gulf of Mannar region. The new species is assigned to the Alpheus brevirostris group, and is distinguished from other species of this group by the combination of the following features: rostral ridge lower than orbital hood in lateral view and postrostral carina not extended to the middle of the carapace, palm of major chela with a transverse groove near the base of dactylus, the ultimate segment of the third maxilliped slender, fingers of minor chela of male slightly longer than palm, the first carpal segment of second pereiopods shorter than second segment, merus of third pereiopods slender and unarmed, dactylus of third pereiopods slender and subspatulate, and unique colour patterns of longitudinal light lines on the reddish body.

A new a species of pinnotherid crab in the eastern Pacific coasts is presented. Twenty males and 21 females of small crabs were collected from burrows, presumably from ghost shrimp (Neotrypaea spp.), in sand-mud substrata from the Santa María-La Reforma coastal lagoon, SE Gulf of California. The new species was assigned to the genus Glassella because its morphological characteristics clearly match the amended diagnosis of the genus Glassella by Palacios Theil and Felder (2020) and Felder Palacios Theil (2020), including the presence of a gonopodal plate (GP) inserted in the internal part of the male pleon, similar to that described for most of the species currently grouped into the genus Glassella. The new species is similar to G. miamiensis (McDermott, 2014) from western Atlantic, but it can be distinguished from this and the rest of the species of Glassella by differences in carapace margins and ridges, male pleon outline, and the shape of the GP.

Tritodynamia bengalensis n. sp. is described on the basis of a male specimen dredged from the shallow coastal waters of West Bengal state, India. The new species is morphologically similar to T. bidentata Yang Tang, 2005 and T. serratipes Anker Ng, 2014, but can be distinguished by the carapace shape, dentition of the pollex, relative length of the dactylus of the third maxilliped, proportions of the propodus of the third pereopod, and structure of the male left gonopod. This is the first record of the genus Tritodynamia from India.

Actinopus specimens from different localities in Uruguay that did not match any of the previously species present in the country were examined, and four new species are described: A. coboi sp. nov., from Colonia province; A. fernandezi sp. nov., from Salto province; A. simoi sp. nov., from Maldonado province; and A. uruguayense sp. nov., from Colonia and Cerro Largo provinces. The record of the species A. longipalpis for Montevideo is rejected and A. liodon is considered "species inquirenda". Actinopus coboi has spermathecae with an apical lobe diagonally directed; A. fernandezi is characterized by a stylized copulatory bulb and its greater number of retrolateral thorns on tibia II. Actinopus simoi can be distinguished from A. uruguayense by its carapace with a dark coloration; a reddish coloration in the palpal tibia and the shape of its spermathecae and copulatory bulb. With the presence of the Argentinian species-A. gerschiapelliarum, A. puelche and A. insignis-the number of species known in the country is increased to nine. All new species are diagnosed and illustrated; a dichotomous key to all species of Actinopus from Uruguay is also provided.

The genus Leiogalathea Baba, 1969 currently contains only two benthic species both occurring on the continental shelves and slope: L. laevirostris (Balss, 1913), widely reported in the Indo-Pacific region, and L. agassizii (A. Milne Edwards, 1880), from both sides of the Central Atlantic. A certain degree of morphological variability linked to their geographic distributions was previously noticed, mostly in L. laevirostris. In the present study, we revise numerous specimens collected from the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, analysing morphological and molecular characters (COI and 16S rRNA). We found 15 new species; all of them are distinguished from L. laevirostris and L. agassizii by subtle but constant morphological differences and show clear genetic separation. Furthermore, L. imperialis (Miyake Baba, 1967), previously synonymized with L. laevirostris, was found to be a valid species. All species are described and illustrated. Species of the genus Leiogalathea are morphologically distinguishable on the basis of the spinulation of the carapace, the shape and the armature of the rostrum, the shape of the propodi of the walking legs, and the pattern of the setae covering on rostrum, carapace and chelae. Some species are barely discernible on the basis of these characters but are highly divergent genetically.

A new species of porcelain crab, Polyonyx angustus n. sp., is described on the basis of material collected from Panglao Island, the Central Philippines. It is morphologically allied to P. boucheti Osawa, 2007, P. pilosibrachium Osawa, Naruse Ng, 2018, and P. utinomii Miyake, 1943, but distinguished by the shape of the carapace and rostrum. Re-examination of the specimens from the Maldives previously referred to P. utinomii has showed that they belong to the new species instead. The present knowledge suggests that P. utinomii is distributed only in the Japanese main islands from central Honshu to Kyushu.

A new species of pinnotherid crab, Arcotheres shahi n. sp., is described on the basis of specimens collected during a crustacean survey along the coastal areas of Pamban fishing harbor in the Gulf of Mannar, Tamil Nadu state, east coast of India. The new species resembles A. pernicola (Bürger, 1895), A. winckworthi (Gordon, 1936) and A. rayi Ahyong Ng, 2007, in having the dactyli of the longer fourth pereopod longer than that of fifth pereopod. Arcotheres shahi n. sp. differs from these three known species in the shape of female carapace, frontal region and chela, setal pattern on the dactyli of the fourth and fifth pereopods and relative length of the ambulatory pereiopods.

The genus Titidius Simon, 1895 belongs to the family Thomisidae Sundevall, 1833 and can be easily identified from the related genera Tmarus Simon, 1875 and Acentroscelus Simon, 1886 by the high carapace, anterior eye row straight and posterior eye row recurve-;pd in dorsal view, carapace smooth with moderate setation, abdomen longer than wide, legs long, slender and setose and clypeus vertical (Esmerio Lise 1996). It is currently composed of 20 species, all occurring in Brazil with exception of Titidius ignestii Caporiacco, 1947 from Guyana (World Spider Catalog 2017). Eight species are distributed in the Amazon region (Esmerio Lise 1996): T. caninde Esmerio Lise, 1996, T. gurupi Esmerio Lise, 1996, T. multifasciatus Mello-Leitão, 1929 and T. rubrosignatus (Keyserling, 1880) from Pará; T. galbanatus (Keyserling, 1880) from Amazonas and Pará; T. quinquenatus Mello-Leitão, 1929 and T. urucu from Amazonas; and T. rubescens Carporiacco, 1947 from Amazonas and Roraima.

Herein we describe nine species of Eocyzicus from Australia and re-describe the morphological variability of Eocyzicus parooensis Richter Timms, 2005 and Eocyzicus argillaquus Timms Richter, 2009. All species were previously delimited by molecular phylogenetic analyses and the species descriptions are based on the same individuals. Characters were scored with the aid of the taxonomic software DELTA. The morphological analyses largely corroborated the previously delimited species despite high levels of intraspecific variability that overlapped with interspecific variation in many instances. Morphological species delimitation was generally supported by principal component and canonical variate analyses. Characters best suited for morphological species identification were the numbers of growth lines on the carapace, the number of telsonic spines and the number of setae on the furca.

The Australian wolf spider (Lycosidae Sundevall, 1833) genus Tasmanicosa Roewer, 1959 with Lycosa tasmanica Hogg, 1905 as type species is revised to include 14 species: T. godeffroyi (L. Koch, 1865), comb. nov. (= Lycosa tasmanica Hogg, 1905, syn. nov.; = Lycosa zualella Strand, 1907, syn. nov.; = Lycosa woodwardi Simon, 1909, syn. nov.); T. fulgor sp. nov.; T. gilberta (Hogg, 1905) comb. nov.; T. harmsi sp. nov.; T. hughjackmani sp. nov.; T. kochorum sp. nov.; T. leuckartii (Thorell, 1870), comb. nov. (= Lycosa molyneuxi Hogg, 1905, syn. nov.); T. musgravei (McKay, 1974) comb. nov.; T. phyllis (Hogg, 1905) comb. nov. (= Lycosa stirlingae Hogg, 1905, syn. nov.); T. ramosa (L. Koch, 1877), comb. nov.; T. salmo sp. nov.; T. semicincta (L. Koch, 1877) comb. nov.; T. stella sp. nov.; and T. subrufa (Karsch, 1878) comb. nov. Within the Australian wolf spider fauna, the genus Tasmanicosa can be diagnosed by the distinct pattern of radiating light and dark lines forming a "Union-Jack" pattern on the carapace. Male pedipalp morphology identifies the genus as part of the subfamily Lycosinae Sundevall, 1833 due to the presence of a transverse tegular apophysis with dorsal groove guiding the embolus during copulation. However, genital morphology is variable and a synapomorphy based on male pedipalp or female epigyne morphology could not be identified. Members of Tasmanicosa are comparatively large spiders (body length ca. 12-30 mm), that build a shallow burrow, which is sometimes covered with a flimsy trapdoor. Species of Tasmanicosa are largely a Bassian faunal element with preference for open woodlands and/or floodplains, although some species can be found into the semi-arid Australian interior. Two Australian wolf spider species may represent Tasmanicosa based on their original descriptions, but due to immature types in combination with the somatic similarities of all Tasmanicosa species, cannot be identified with certainty. They are therefore considered nomina dubia: Lycosa excusor L. Koch, 1867 and Lycosa infensa L. Koch, 1877. The type species of Orthocosa Roewer, 1960 is transferred to Tasmanicosa; however, in order to prevent some non-Australian wolf spiders in the genus Orthocosa to be transferred into Tasmanicosa, which is considered endemic to Australia, we here place these species into more appropriate genera based on their original descriptions pending a future revision of these species: Arctosa ambigua Denis, 1947 comb. reval.; Alopecosa orophila (Thorell, 1887) comb. nov.; Hygrolycosa tokinagai Saito, 1936 comb. reval. Orthocosa sternomaculata (Mello-Leitão, 1943) is considered a junior synonym of Hogna birabeni (Mello-Leitão, 1943) comb. nov.

Stenocionops furcatus (Olivier, 1791) and S. coelatus (A. Milne-Edwards, 1878) have been treated either as subspecies or as species in their own right, but never as each other's synonyms. Compared to S. coelatus, S. furcatus has been regarded as having smoother dorsal surface carapace, shorter rostral spines, straighter and less divergent rostrum. and smaller interorbital width. These morphological differences between the two species, however, can be attributed to changes over ontogeny and, therefore, cannot be used as distinguishing characters. Adults of S. coelatus and S. furcatus can, however, be safely separated from each other by the presence in S. coelatus of a strong crenation on the anterior margin of the male sterno-abdominal cavity, which is absent in S. furcatus. A lectotype for S. coelatus is designated. The synonymy between S. furcatus, Cancer cornudo Herbst, 1804, and Chorinus armatus Randall, 1839, is confirmed based on the holotypes of the latter two species.

The Polystira clade (here comprising Polystira and Pleuroliria) is a poorly known but hyper-diverse clade within the neogastropod family Turridae (sensu stricto). It has extensively radiated within the tropics and subtropics of the Americas, to which it is endemic. In this paper we present a synthetic overview of existing information on this radiation together with new information on estimated species diversity, systematic relationships, a species-level molecular phylogenetic analysis and preliminary macroecological and diversification analyses, to serve as a platform for further study. We currently estimate that about 300 species (122 extant) are known from its 36 million year history but this number will undoubtedly increase as we extend our studies. We discuss the relationships of Polystira to other Neotropical Turridae (s.s.) and examine the taxonomy and systematics of the geologically oldest described members of the clade. To aid taxonomic description of shells we introduce a new notation for homologous major spiral cords. Focusing on key publications, we discuss in detail the changing historical understanding of the taxonomy of the clade and the relationships of its component genus-level taxa: Polystira Woodring, 1928, Pleuroliria de Gregorio, 1890, Josephina Gardner, 1945 and Oxytropa Glibert, 1955. We designate a neotype for Pleurotoma (Pleuroliria) supramirifica de Gregorio, 1890, to stabilize our understanding of this, the type species of Pleuroliria. Application of the name Oxytropa is restricted to the type species. The genus Polystira is conchologically re-described and for the first time we synthesize available information on the anatomy, feeding and toxinology, reproduction and life history, larval modes and life habits, and geographic and bathymetric ranges of its species. We give an updated list of the 19 formally described living species and present the pitfalls of the currently poor species-level taxonomy of Polystira using case examples. We present a molecular phylogenetic analysis of 22 extant species using three mitochondrial gene fragments (COI, 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA). This reveals undescribed species and indicates that Recent genetic clades ('biospecies') are consistent with finely divided conchological 'morphospecies'. Historically, there has been a slow realisation of the high species diversity of the Polystira clade and we consider that this may be due to inadequate precision of morphological description of shells and a lack of clear homology statements. We suggest how these both might be improved. Finally, using a data compilation based on museum specimens we examine species range-size distributions and species abundance distributions for 85 of the 112 extant western Atlantic species that we have delimited to date. Our results indicate that the majority of species are rare and have short geographic ranges; only a few are wide-ranging and abundant. This has important implications for surveys of biodiversity.

Most neogastropod families have a continuous record from the Cretaceous or Paleogene to the Recent. However, the fossil record also contains a number of obscure nominal families with unusual shell characters that are not adequately placed in the current classification. Some of these are traditionally regarded as valid, and some have been "lost" in synonymy. One such "lost" family is the Pyramimitridae, established by Cossmann in 1901 for the Eocene genus Pyramimitra, and currently included in the synonymy of Buccinidae. Examination of several species of inconspicuous, small turriform gastropods has revealed a radula type so far unknown in Neogastropoda, and their shell characters identify them as members of the "extinct" family Pyramimitridae. Neither the radular morphology nor the anatomy reveal the relationships of this enigmatic, "living fossil" family. Molecular data (12S, 16S, 28S, COI) confirm the recognition of Pyramimitridae as a distinct family, but no sister group was identified in the analysis. The family Pyramimitridae Cossmann, 1901, is thus restored as a valid family of Neogastropoda that includes the genera Pyramimitra Conrad, 1865, Endiatoma Cossmann, 1896, Vaughanites Woodring, 1928, Hortia Lozouet, 1999, and Teremitra new genus. Pyramimitrids occur in the Recent fauna at bathyal depths of the Indo-Pacific from Taiwan to Madagascar and New Zealand, with three genera and nine species (all but one new).

The squat lobster, Munidopsis lauensis Baba & de Saint Laurent, 1992, is recorded from Taiwan for the first time. This species was previously known only from deep-sea hydrothermal vents in the South-West Pacific but it was now found at a deep-sea cold seep site off southwestern Taiwan. The identity of the Taiwanese material is confirmed by comparison of sequences from the barcoding gene COI. Munidopsis lauensis can be easily separated from other congeners in Taiwanese waters by the eyes bearing a strong mesiodorsal spine and a small mesioventral spine, smooth carapace, fingers of the cheliped distally spooned and fixed finger without a denticulate carina on the distolateral margin. The discovery of this species in Taiwan increases the Munidopsis fauna of the island to 38 species. A color photograph and line drawings illustrating distinctive characters are provided for the Taiwanese material.
