Based on available literature sources, we have listed the genera and species of springtails (Collembola) of Iran located in Southwest Asia. In total, 301 named species of Collembola are listed in catalogue. This includes 286 described species in 109 genera from 20 families recorded from Iran. Of them, 15 species are also considered as dubious species. It also includes 15 genera whose species are still unknown. Information about biology, geographical distribution, ecology, authorship records for different provinces, and bibliographical data of Iranian Collembola are included.

Pachyotoma primamexicana sp. nov, from Popocatépetl, Mexico is described; it is similar to Pachyotoma alpa (Christiansen & Bellinger, 1980) and P. muskegis (Guthrier, 1903). It can be distinguished from all other the members of the genus by the small size of PAO (about half the size of closest eye) and the formula (2,3,3) of the slightly capitate tenent hairs. An identification key for Nearctic Pachyotominae and a table with diagnostic morphological characters to the Nearctic species of the genus with integument clearly granulated is given. Three new records of species from Mexico are listed: Pachyotoma crassicauda (Tullberg, 1871), Coloburella octogenaria (Mills & Schmidt, 1957) and Bonetrura boneti (Yosii, 1962). A discussion on the distribution of the subfamily Pachyotominae and some notes on the biogeography of the subfamily are provided.

Based on what we believe is a complete survey of the previous literature, the citations of the collembola found in Vietnam are recorded. In total, the catalogue includes 350 species in 118 genera from 21families (69 dubious records). For each species the current name is indicated, as well as the basionym and main synonyms with the complete bibliographic reference, the records for different provinces and regions with the authorships, and the general distribution data. When necessary, taxonomic notes are added. The catalog includes 120 bibliographic references (up to December 2021). The main goal of this paper is to promote future studies on the collembolan fauna of Vietnam.

A new genus and species of Anurophorinae, Heptacanthella yinae gen. et sp. nov., is described from Xinjiang Province, Northwest China. The new genus has four spines on Abd. V in p1 and p2 position and three spines on Abd. VI in m0 and m1 position, seven anal spines in all distally on the abdomen. It can be distinguished from other “spined genera” of the subfamily by the position and number of the anal spines. A comparison of spinal armament of last abdominal segments in 13 genera of Anurophorinae is made here. Heptacanthella yinae gen. et sp. nov. is also characterised by the absence of eyes, pigment, furca and retinaculum, presence of reticulated cuticle and an s-formula of 33/22224 (s) and 10/001 (ms). The value of anal spines in taxonomy of Isotomidae is discussed.

Two new species, T. dorsoduplex sp. nov. (Zhejiang province) and T. wui sp. nov. (Jilin Province) are described. The former species belongs to 'sylvatica' group and differs from all species of the genus by presence of only one pair of macrochaetae on Th. II–Abd. II and specific position of lateral s-chaetae on Abd. IV. The latter species belongs to 'stebaevae' group and differs from closely related species by chaetotaxy of dens (1/5) and abundant axial chaetotaxy of abdominal tergites.

We summarize the distribution and habitat of Brazilian Archisotoma species, a taxonomic key for all species of the genus is given and a new species is described from intertidal sand of the Biologial Reserve Atol das Rocas, Brazil. Archisotoma jariani sp. nov. belongs to the besselsi group, recognized by small size, tibiotarsus III with stiff outer spur, maxillary head with thin simple capitulum, 3–2 pairs of trichobothria on abdominal segment VI. This is the first species of Collembola recorded from Atol das Rocas.

A new species, Isotoma koreana sp. nov. is described. It is most similar to Isotoma pinnata Börner, 1909, I. riparia (Nicolet, 1842) and I. grana Lee, Kim & Kim, 1993, in possessing a middorsal longitudinal band on body. It can be distinguished in having a thin central stripe on dorsal side of body, the structure of manubrial apical spines and body chaetotaxy. Isotoma grana is redescribed here from type material and compared with related species. An indentification key to the Sino-Japanese species of Isotoma Bourlet is provided.

A taxonomic revision of the genus Subisotoma Stach, 1947 is presented. Subisotoma pusilla (Schäffer, 1900), S. tenuis (Dunger, 1982), and S. asiatica (Martynova, 1970) are re-described based on type and fresh material. Eight new species of the genus are described; S. pomorskii sp. nov., S. homonomica sp. nov., S. bisensillata sp. nov., S. guzeriplica sp. nov., S. posteriomollis sp. nov., S. multisensillata sp. nov., S. cruda sp. nov., and S. erratica sp. nov., using material from Eurasia. A key to the known species of Subisotoma is given.

Paracerura airesi sp. nov. (Paranã River, State of Tocantins) and P. serrana sp. nov. (Aiuroca Valley, State of Minas Gerais) are described and illustrated. Diagnosis of the genus Paracerura and a comparative table of four known species of the genus are given.

The eight known species of Agrenia are reviewed and new distributional data are added. Two species groups are suggested for the genus: a bidenticulata-group with a mucronal seta and an agilis-group without a mucronal seta. Four new species of the second group are described from North America: A. falcula, A. parkeri, and A. tarashchukae from forest streams of the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee, North Carolina, and New York, and A. extrema from glaciers in Washington and Alaska. The head of the maxilla is introduced as a useful character for separation of some species. A key to all species is given.

A new species Psammisotoma restingae, from Maricá city, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to P. kingae Greenslade and Deharveng, 1996, but differs in the outer labial process, tergal sensillary pattern and claw.

In the present article we describe a new species Isotomiella barrana sp. nov. from “Parque Nacional da Tijuca”, “Restinga de Maricá” and “Restinga da Marambaia”; redescribe I. bidentata Delamare Deboutteville, 1950 found for the first time in Brazil and enlarge the occurrence of I. amazonica Oliveira & Deharveng, 1990 to the Rio de Janeiro State.

A new species, Folsomia wanxianensis, from China (Chongqing) was described in the present paper. The new species shares some characters with F. albens Kaprus’ & Potapov 1999, such as the absence of ommatidia, sensillar formulae and small body size. However, it could be easily distinguished from F. albens by the number of laterodistal setae on the ventral tube and the number of setae on furca. It is also easily distinguished from all known species in the genus by the combination of the following characters: 4+4 laterodistal setae on the ventral tube, 10+10 dorsal setae on manubrium, 10–11 ventral and four dorsal setae on dens, and other features.

The paper provides new information on morphological characters which are useful in generic diagnostics of the Proisotoma complex of Isotomidae. Based on this information, a number of known species are excluded from the redefined Proisotoma s. str. and moved to the genus Scutisotoma Bagnall, 1949, which is again given generic status. The following genera are given more precise definitions: Subisotoma Stach, 1947, Ballistura Borner, 1906, Proisotoma Borner, 1901 and Weberacantha Christiansen, 1951. A new genus, Strenzketoma, is erected for the species "Proisotoma" buddenbrocki Strenzke. Scutisotoma titusi (Folsom), S. muriphila (Grinbergs), and S. ladaki (Denis) are redescribed. Fourteen new species of the genus Scutisotoma (S. acorrelata sp. n., S. baica sp. n., S. dodecocellata sp. n., S. indigirka sp. n., S. karadagi sp. n., S. kolymica sp. n., S. longisensilla sp. n., S. matalini sp. n., S. millimetrica sp. n., S. montana sp. n., S. nicksmeti sp. n., S. schisti sp. n., S. stachanoremi sp. n., S. tenuidentifera sp. n.) and two new species of Weberacantha (W. echinodermata sp. n., W. magnomucrella sp. n.) are described. Types of S. ananevae ( Babenko & Bulavintsev), S. armeriae (Fjellberg), S. christianseni (Stach), S. oirota (Vilkamaa), S. stepposa (Martynova), S. tianshanica (Martynova), and S. tolerans (Babenko) have been studied. Phenotypic dimorphism of four species of the genus Proisotoma s.str. is described. The modified specimens are characterized by protruding corneas of eyes, stronger pigmentation, enlarged and more chitinized furca, and extension of clavate tenent hairs in the distal part of the tibiotarsi. The characteristics of the modified specimens indicate higher mobile activity. Both sexes are affected by the dimorphism, with the "mobile" forms mostly co-occuring during the cold season with normal specimens. Proisotoma dualis sp. nov. is described from Buryat Republic.

Two genera are revised based on material from Buryatia (Russia, East Siberia). Vertagopus ceratus sp. nov. and V. asiaticus sp. nov. are described of which the former species is strictly alpine and is defined by pale colouration, the presence of chaetae on the anterior side of the ventral tube, and abundant sensillar chaetotaxy. V. asiaticus sp. nov. is widely distributed in Asia and is unusual due to only 9 chaetae in apical whorl on tibiotarsi. A key to species of Vertagopus Borner, recorded in the republic is given, and notes on morphology, distribution, and ecology are provided. In the genus Agrenia Borner, a form similar with A. bidenticulata was recorded in mountainous areas. Buryatian populations considerably differ from the diagnosis of the typical arctic A.bidenticulata (Tullberg) by a much longer claw. A conception of A. bidenticulata sensu lato complex is temporarily proposed basing on available materials from Palearctic, including High Arctic, sub-Arctic and South Siberian mountains. The complex consists of several local forms which are different in Claw index and associated Tibiotarsus/Claw ratio, while the dependence of the two indexes on the latitude is shown.

A new genus is proposed based on a new species from Iran, Ephemerotoma skarzynskii gen. et sp. nov., and three known species: E. huadongensis (Chen, 1985) comb. nov., E. multituberculata (Martynova, 1971) comb. nov. and E. porcella (Ellis, 1976) comb. nov. The genus shares the characters of Subisotoma Stach and Proctostephanus Borner and is distributed in southern areas of Eurasia (Eastern Mediterranean, Iran, Tajikistan, China). Ephemerotoma gen. nov. belongs to the Proisotoma-complex and is characterized by a simple maxillary palp, only 4 guards on labial papilla E and 2 prelabral chaetae. Four s-chaetae on Abd.V are arranged in two rows, two anterior and two posterior chaetae. All members of Ephemerotoma gen. nov. are redescribed or discussed based on type or fresh material, and a key to species of the genus is given. Scutisotoma potapovi Xie & Chen, 2008 is considered a synonym of E. huadongensis, while Proisotoma anopolitana is moved to the genus Proctostephanus. Sexual dimorphism is described for three species.

A new species and genus, Skadisotoma inpericulosa, is described from south-eastern Australia. It possesses some characters that are found in Tomoceridae, such as a long cylindrical dens that is medially bent and a mucro with at least six teeth of different sizes and three setae but in other characters it resembles an isotomid. In this it shows similarities to the Boreal genus Mucronia Fjellberg, but differs from it in the possession of spines on the dens and in some chaetotaxic characters.

The genus Isotomodes Linnaniemi, 1907 can be easily recognized among Isotomidae because of its remarkable morphology and chaetotaxy of the last abdominal segments (Gama, 1963; Potapov, 2001); it comprises 34 worldwide species (Bellinger et al. 2014, Potapov 2001, Arbea 2006, Abrantes & Mendonca 2007, Thibaud 2008) mainly distributed in Europe (especially in Mediterranean region) and America, and only a few from est Asia and Oceania (Bellinger et al. 2014). The genus Isotomodes appears well represented in interstitial sandy habitat, especially in supralittoral and inland biotopes, as reported by Thibaud & Christian (1997) and Thibaud (2007). The littoral fauna of Collembola along the Italian peninsula has been poorly studied (Dallai et al. 2010), so we decided to fill this gap beginning with a collecting design along the Thirrenian coast of Tuscany. As preliminary result, herein we describe a new species of Isotomodes that had been collected in the sand dune in front of the Regional Park of S. Rossore (Tuscany).

The genus Folsomides Stach, 1922 is represented by four species in the Iranian fauna, two of which are new to the science. Folsomides halshinicus sp. nov. and Folsomides subvinosus sp. nov. are found in Kermanshah Province (Western Iran). The new species belong to the Folsomides angularis (Axelson, 1905) group and they are distinguishable from other congeneric species by the macrochaetotaxy (11/22233 macrochaetae on thoracic II to abdominal V tergites) and the number of chaetae on dens. A table with the diagnostic characters for the identification of Iranian species of Folsomides is given. Some figures of F.vinosus Fjellberg, 1993 from Canary Island was given after study of type specimens.

A new species of Archisotoma Linnaniemi, 1912 is described and illustrated based on material from littoral sand of Praia do Sossego beach, Niterói municipality, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The new species Archisotoma arariboia sp.nov., the second of the genus described from Brazil, can be distinguished from its congeners by a set of characters: 6+6 eyes, maxillary capitulum unidentate and subequal to internal lamellae, 10 posterior chaetae on manubrium, 4–5 chaetae between the anterior trichobothria and lastly by 1 thick and curved chaetae on trochanter and femur of leg III and 1–2 on femur and 1–2 on tibiotarsus of leg I.

A new species of the Tetracanthella pilosa group is described from Romanian Carpathians. T. doftana sp. nov. is similar to T. andalusiaca Deharveng, 1987. They differ by the number of sublobal hairs, size of macrochaetae and distribution. A key to Carpathian Tetracanthella Schott, 1891 species is also given.

Nine new species of the genus Folsomia are described from Buryatia (Russia, East Siberia): F. biparis sp. nov., F. fumosa sp. nov., F. heterothorax sp. nov., F. maximovi sp. nov., F. pseudovtorovi sp. nov., F. sensivillosa sp. nov., F. uniparis sp. nov., F. uniramia sp. nov., and F. vitimica sp. nov. A complete list and a key to species recorded in the Buryatia are given, and their morphology, distribution, and ecology are annotated. The taxonomical groups of species are discussed.

The present paper describes Paracerura gandarela sp. nov .based on material from the Serra do Gandarela Mts., Munici-pality of Caete, State of Minas Gerais. The new species is the sixth of the Neotropical genus Paracerura Deharveng & Oliveira, 1994 with distribution limited to Brazil. P. gandarela sp. nov. differs from other congeners especially by sensil-lary set on abdominal segments IV–V and characteristic pigmentation of the body. An identification key to species of the the genus is given.

Two new species Folsomia aquatica sp. nov. and Folsomia sanjiangensis sp. nov. from north-eastern China are described. F. aquatica was only found in wetlands, it belongs to quadrioculata-group, it can be distinguished from other species in the group by the combination of the following characters: ommatidia absent; microsensillar formula as1,1/1,0,0; VT with 4+4 latero-distal and usually 7 (6–10) posterior chaetae; 1+1 chaeta on anterior side of manubrium. F. sanjiangensis was found in forest and wetlands, it belongs to sensibilis-group and characterized by ommatidia absent; median sensilla on abdomen within p-row of chaetae; fifth segment of abdomen with a pair of leaf-like sensilla on each side; and 3 chaetae on lateral sides of manubrium.

Two new species, Parisotoma sexsetosa sp. nov. and P. obscurocellata sp. nov., are described from the Western Cape Province in South Africa. The former is characterized with 2+2 ocelli and 4 sensilla in the p-row on each side of three first abdominal segments, the latter with 5+5 or more ocelli and 3+3 chaetae on the postlabial area. Both species have only 6 posterior chaetae on dens. A comparison of South African and Asiatic Parisotoma species is given. Sensillar chaetotaxy of the third and fourth abdominal segments is critical in the separation of these geographically distinct groups.

Folsomia mofettophila sp. nov. is described from cold, volcanic gas vents (mofettes) in the Northwest Bohemia (Czech Republic). The species is characterized by large post-antennal organ and combines characters of F. bisetosa Gisin and F. kuznetsovae Potapov & Taskaeva.

Type specimens of Desoria brucealla (Wray), a western North American species, are transferred to Misturasotoma n.gen. The new genus differs from Desoria, Heteroisotoma, Isotoma, and Parisotoma by the following combination of characters: eyes absent, tibiotarsi with 11 setae in distal whorl, tenaculum with 9–15 setae, manubrium with apical spinelike setae, mucrones quadridentate, macrochaetae smooth, and sensilliform setae of abdominal segments IV and V short.

The three known species in the genus Narynia Martynova, Narynia setosa Martynova, Narynia andreevae Martynova in Martynova & Tshelnokov and Narynia kolimiensis Martynova are revised based on type specimens. A new species for the genus, Narynia luanae sp.n. from Northwest China, is described. An identification key to the species and the diagnosis of the genus are given.

Isotomiella alulu Christiansen & Bellinger, 1992 and I. delamarei Barra, 1968 are redescribed after the study of type material and comparison with related species in differential diagnosis. The systematic position of I. delamarei is specified with discussions of the systematics of the genus based on sensillar patterns of the species representatives. Two phyletic lineages are outlined within the genus represented by I. minor and I. nummulifer species groups. Diagnostic tables for Isotomiella species based on sensillar patterns and morphological characters of furcula are involved and a dichotomous identification key to the genus is provided. Notes on the systematics and distribution of Isotomiella species are added. New localities for I. granulata, I. nummulifer and I. symetrimucronata from the Neotropics (Mexico, Nicaragua) are given , and records of I. minor are confirmed for Northern and Central Mexico (Nearctic region).

The genus Folsomides Stach, 1922 is represented by nine species in the Ibero-balearic fauna, one of which is new to the science. Folsomides mediterraneus n. sp. is found in Northern Spain (Navarra and Zaragoza) and Central Spain (Madrid). The new species is related to the Folsomides angularis (Axelson, 1905) group and it is easily distinguishable from other species by the chaetotaxy of microsensilla. A key for the identification of Ibero-balearic species of Folsomides is given.
