The maxillary sinus corresponds to the pneumatic space located inside the maxillary bone, bilaterally. It is considered one of the four paranasal sinuses, the largest of which is located above the teeth, anterosuperiorly, on the sides of the nose and below the cheeks. Therefore, this work aims to describe the evaluation of different techniques for lifting the maxillary sinus for implant dentistry through a literature review. Inclusion criteria were studies published in full between 2012 and 2022, in Portuguese, English and Spanish with free access and that present the theme consistent with the objective of the research. The selected databases were: Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (Lilacs), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrivel System Online (Medline). The descriptors used were: "Implantology; Dentistry; Lifting Techniques; Maxillary sinus". Maxillary sinus lift is a surgical procedure with proven potential for resolving bone limitations resulting from maxillary atrophy. The techniques used for lifting the maxillary sinus are classified as atraumatic and traumatic. Therefore, it is understood that after the application of the techniques, the patients observed great changes in the facial characteristics and, consequently, in the self-esteem after the surgery. The Oral Sinus Communication (OSC) is characterized as a bony opening between the maxillary sinus and the oral cavity in an accidental way. For the treatment of it, factors such as etiology, lesion extension and location must be considered. The current work aims to report a clinical case of OSC closure caused by the installation of a dental implant and confirmed by Cone Beam Computed Tomography of the maxillary sinuses. The treatment has been carried out through the removal of the oroantral fistula, the accommodation of the Fibrin Rich in Platelets and Leukocytes (L-PRF) membrane and the flap repositioning. After 90 (ninety) days, satisfactory healing and complete elimination of the fistula were noticed. Thus, it is noticeable that the chosen technique resulted in tissue regeneration and proper healing, without postoperative complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A dislocation of the temporomandibular joint is a problematic condition that occurs in a chronic or acute form. It is defined as an excessive forward movement of the condyle beyond the articular eminence, with complete separation of the articular surfaces locking in this position. Treatments can be divided into conservative or surgical. Conservative approaches provide temporary relief of symptoms, with recurrence being common. The surgical modality can be performed in two ways: restriction of mouth opening with the use of a shield that interferes with the trajectory of the head of the mandible or promotion of free mandibular movements by removing the articular eminence. The paranasal sinuses are cavities inside some bones categorized as pneumatic. The variants of the anatomy of the sinuses are common findings in daily practice. The introduction of computed tomography (CT) and panoramic radiographs (RP) in the identification of sinus disease contributed to a better understanding of the factors that lead to obstruction of the ostiomeatal complex. It is important for radiologists to be aware of incidental findings in the paranasal sinuses on computed tomography (CT), concomitant computed tomography (CTT), and panoramic radiography (RP) for adequate correlation with patients' clinical data. The maxillary sinus is the largest of the paranasal sinuses and the first to emerge in the embryonic development. The present study aimed to review in the literature about the main pathological findings in the maxillary sinus and to point out the main aspects or alterations that should be observed by the healthcare professional when there are clinical manifestations. Knowledge about the anatomy of the maxillary sinus and its variations are ancillary diagnostic tools that are suitable for good interpretation and are essential for an accurate diagnosis. The Buco Sinusals Communications - CBS - have several etiologies, being the most frequent, accidents during exodontia of posterior superior dental elements. This situation is due to the anatomical characteristics of the maxillary sinus and the proximity of the root apexes of molars and upper premolars, which during the surgical act can cause direct access between the maxillary sinus and the oral cavity. When installed, another surgical planning should be established in order to close this communication. The literature points out a number of surgical treatment methods, such as the use of the adipose body, rotated flap of the palate, vestibular sliding flap and bone grafts. However, the main characteristics of each technique must be analyzed in order to establish which is most appropriate for each situation. In general, all techniques present advantages and disadvantages, ranging from facial asymmetry to vestibular loss (prosthetic incapacity). Thus, the professional should pay attention to the technique that depends on many factors, such as the size of the communication, as well as weighing the risks and benefits, aiming at improving the patient's condition. Ameloblastoma is clinically most common odontogenic tumors, originating in the odontogenic epithelium, arising for example from the remnants of the dental laminae, the epithelial lining of a cyst or basal cells of the oral mucosa. Its growth is slow, locally invasive with a result of benign evolution in most cases. With the low development index cases of ameloblastoma in the maxilla (the highest rate in the jaw) and a differentiated development is of great value a study and in-depth discussion on the subject.
