Myocardial Infarction (MI), commonly known as heart attack, is a cardiac condition characterized by damage to a portion of the heart, specifically the myocardium, due to the disruption of blood flow. Given its recurring and often asymptomatic nature, there is the need for continuous monitoring using wearable devices. This paper proposes a single-microcontroller-based system designed for the automatic detection of MI based on the Edge Computing paradigm. Two solutions for MI detection are evaluated, based on Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques. The developed algorithms are based on two different approaches currently available in the literature, and they are optimized for deployment on low-resource hardware. A feasibility assessment of their implementation on a single 32-bit microcontroller with an ARM Cortex-M4 core was examined, and a comparison in terms of accuracy, inference time, and memory usage was detailed. For ML techniques, significant data processing for feature extraction, coupled with a simpler Neural Network (NN) is involved. On the other hand, the second method, based on DL, employs a Spectrogram Analysis for feature extraction and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with a longer inference time and higher memory utilization. Both methods employ the same low power hardware reaching an accuracy of 89.40% and 94.76%, respectively. The final prototype is an energy-efficient system capable of real-time detection of MI without the need to connect to remote servers or the cloud. In the field of image fusion, spatial detail blurring and color distortion appear in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and multispectral (MS) during the traditional fusion process due to the difference in sensor imaging mechanisms. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a fusion method for SAR images and MS images based on a convolutional neural network. In order to make use of the spatial information and different scale feature information of high-resolution SAR image, a dual-channel feature extraction module is constructed to obtain a SAR image feature map. In addition, different from the common direct addition strategy, an attention-based feature fusion module is designed to achieve spectral fidelity of the fused images. In order to obtain better spectral and spatial retention ability of the network, an unsupervised joint loss function is designed to train the network. In this paper, the Sentinel 1 SAR images and Landsat 8 MS images are used as datasets for experiments. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in quantitative and visual representation when compared with traditional fusion methods and deep learning algorithms. A significant majority of the population in India makes their living through agriculture. Different illnesses that develop due to changing weather patterns and are caused by pathogenic organisms impact the yields of diverse plant species. The present article analyzed some of the existing techniques in terms of data sources, pre-processing techniques, feature extraction techniques, data augmentation techniques, models utilized for detecting and classifying diseases that affect the plant, how the quality of images was enhanced, how overfitting of the model was reduced, and accuracy. The research papers for this study were selected using various keywords from peer-reviewed publications from various databases published between 2010 and 2022. A total of 182 papers were identified and reviewed for their direct relevance to plant disease detection and classification, of which 75 papers were selected for this review after exclusion based on the title, abstract, conclusion, and full text. Researchers will find this work to be a useful resource in recognizing the potential of various existing techniques through data-driven approaches while identifying plant diseases by enhancing system performance and accuracy. Currently, the task of maintaining cybersecurity and reliability in various computer systems is relevant. This problem can be solved by detecting anomalies in the log data, which are represented as a stream of textual descriptions of events taking place. For these purposes, reduction to a One-class classification problem is used. Standard One-class classification methods do not achieve good results. Deep learning approaches are more effective. However, they are not robust to outliers and require a lot of computational effort. In this paper, we propose a new robust approach based on a convolutional autoencoder using fuzzy clustering. The proposed approach uses a parallel convolution operation to feature extraction, which makes it more efficient than the currently popular Transformer architecture. In the course of the experiments, the proposed approach showed the best results for both the cybersecurity and the reliability problems compared to existing approaches. The growth of biomedical engineering has made depression diagnosis via electroencephalography (EEG) a trendy issue. The two significant challenges to this application are EEG signals' complexity and non-stationarity. Additionally, the effects caused by individual variances may hamper the generalization of detection systems. Given the association between EEG signals and particular demographics, such as gender and age, and the influences of these demographic characteristics on the incidence of depression, it would be preferable to include demographic factors during EEG modeling and depression detection. The main objective of this work is to develop an algorithm that can recognize depression patterns by studying EEG data. Following a multiband analysis of such signals, machine learning and deep learning techniques were used to detect depression patients automatically. EEG signal data are collected from the multi-modal open dataset MODMA and employed in studying mental diseases. The EEG dataset contains information from a traditional 128-electrode elastic cap and a cutting-edge wearable 3-electrode EEG collector for widespread applications. In this project, resting EEG readings of 128 channels are considered. According to CNN, training with 25 epoch iterations had a 97% accuracy rate. The patient's status has to be divided into two basic categories: major depressive disorder (MDD) and healthy control. Additional MDD include the following six classes: obsessive-compulsive disorders, addiction disorders, conditions brought on by trauma and stress, mood disorders, schizophrenia, and the anxiety disorders discussed in this paper are a few examples of mental illnesses. Extracting high-accuracy landslide areas using deep learning methods from high spatial resolution remote sensing images is a hot topic in current research. However, the existing deep learning algorithms are affected by background noise and landslide scale effects during the extraction process, leading to poor feature extraction effects. To address this issue, this paper proposes an improved mask regions-based convolutional neural network (Mask R-CNN) model to identify the landslide distribution in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) images. The improvement of the model mainly includes three aspects: (1) an attention mechanism of the convolutional block attention module (CBAM) is added to the backbone residual neural network (ResNet). (2) A bottom-up channel is added to the feature pyramidal network (FPN) module. (3) The region proposal network (RPN) is replaced by guided anchoring (GA-RPN). Sanming City, China was selected as the study area for the experiments. The experimental results show that the improved model has a recall of 91.4% and an accuracy of 92.6%, which is 12.9% and 10.9% higher than the original Mask R-CNN model, respectively, indicating that the improved model is more effective in landslide extraction. With the growing diversity of cyberattacks in recent years, anomaly-based intrusion detection systems that can detect unknown attacks have attracted significant attention. Furthermore, a wide range of studies on anomaly detection using machine learning and deep learning methods have been conducted. However, many machine learning and deep learning-based methods require significant effort to design the detection feature values, extract the feature values from network packets, and acquire the labeled data used for model training. To solve the aforementioned problems, this paper proposes a new model called DOC-IDS, which is an intrusion detection system based on Perera's deep one-class classification. The DOC-IDS, which comprises a pair of one-dimensional convolutional neural networks and an autoencoder, uses three different loss functions for training. Although, in general, only regular traffic from the computer network subject to detection is used for anomaly detection training, the DOC-IDS also uses multi-class labeled traffic from open datasets for feature extraction. Therefore, by streamlining the classification task on multi-class labeled traffic, we can obtain a feature representation with highly enhanced data discrimination abilities. Simultaneously, we perform variance minimization in the feature space, even on regular traffic, to further improve the model's ability to discriminate between normal and abnormal traffic. The DOC-IDS is a single deep learning model that can automatically perform feature extraction and anomaly detection. This paper also reports experiments for evaluating the anomaly detection performance of the DOC-IDS. Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women, which has higher death-rate than many other cancer types. The most common way to diagnose cervical cancer is to analyze images of cervical cells, which is performed using Pap smear imaging test. Early and accurate diagnosis can save the lives of many patients and increase the chance of success of treatment methods. Until now, various methods have been proposed to diagnose cervical cancer based on the analysis of Pap smear images. Most of the existing methods can be divided into two groups of methods based on deep learning techniques or machine learning algorithms. In this study, a combination method is presented, whose overall structure is based on a machine learning strategy, where the feature extraction stage is completely separate from the classification stage. However, in the feature extraction stage, deep networks are used. In this paper, a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) neural network fed with deep features is presented. The number of hidden layer neurons is tuned based on four innovative ideas. Additionally, ResNet-34, ResNet-50 and VGG-19 deep networks have been used to feed MLP. In the presented method, the layers related to the classification phase are removed in these two CNN networks, and the outputs feed the MLP after passing through a flatten layer. In order to improve performance, both CNNs are trained on related images using the Adam optimizer. The proposed method has been evaluated on the Herlev benchmark database and has provided 99.23 percent accuracy for the two-classes case and 97.65 percent accuracy for the 7-classes case. Simple Summary: Insect pests can damage crops and food production, causing problems for farmers. The detection of plant pests is essential for ensuring the excellent productivity of plants and food. Traditional methods for pest detection are generally time-consuming and inefficient. There has been a lot of use of deep learning for detecting plant pests in recent years. YOLOv5 is one of the most effective deep learning algorithms used for object detection. A new pest detection method with higher accuracy based on a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) is proposed in this paper. Experimental results on the pest dataset indicate that the proposed method performs well and can achieve high precision and robustness for recognizing plant pests. The proposed method is more effective and can detect pests precisely with higher accuracy. Pest detection in plants is essential for ensuring high productivity. Convolutional neural networks (CNN)-based deep learning advancements recently have made it possible for researchers to increase object detection accuracy. In this study, pest detection in plants with higher accuracy is proposed by an improved YOLOv5m-based method. First, the SWin Transformer (SWinTR) and Transformer (C3TR) mechanisms are introduced into the YOLOv5m network so that they can capture more global features and can increase the receptive field. Then, in the backbone, ResSPP is considered to make the network extract more features. Furthermore, the global features of the feature map are extracted in the feature fusion phase and forwarded to the detection phase via a modification of the three output necks C3 into SWinTR. Finally, WConcat is added to the fusion feature, which increases the feature fusion capability of the network. Experimental results demonstrate that the improved YOLOv5m achieved 95.7% precision rate, 93.1% recall rate, 94.38% F1 score, and 96.4% Mean Average Precision (mAP). Meanwhile, the proposed model is significantly better than the original YOLOv3, YOLOv4, and YOLOv5m models. Indoor 3D positioning is useful in multistory buildings, such as shopping malls, libraries, and airports. This study focuses on indoor 3D positioning using wireless access points (AP) in an environment without adding additional hardware facilities in large-scale complex places. The integration of a deep learning algorithm into indoor 3D positioning is studied, and a 3D dynamic positioning model based on temporal fingerprints is proposed. In contrast to the traditional positioning models with a single input, the proposed method uses a sliding time window to build a temporal fingerprint chip as the input of the positioning model to provide abundant information for positioning. Temporal information can be used to distinguish locations with similar fingerprint vectors and to improve the accuracy and robustness of positioning. Moreover, deep learning has been applied for the automatic extraction of spatiotemporal features. A temporal convolutional network (TCN) feature extractor is proposed in this paper, which adopts a causal convolution mechanism, dilated convolution mechanism, and residual connection mechanism and is not limited by the size of the convolution kernel. It is capable of learning hidden information and spatiotemporal relationships from the input features and the extracted spatiotemporal features are connected with a deep neural network (DNN) regressor to fit the complex nonlinear mapping relationship between the features and position coordinates to estimate the 3D position coordinates of the target. Finally, an open-source public dataset was used to verify the performance of the localization algorithm. Experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed positioning model and a comparison between the proposed model and existing models proved that the proposed model can provide more accurate three-dimensional position coordinates. A brain stroke is a life-threatening medical disorder caused by the inadequate blood supply to the brain. After the stroke, the damaged area of the brain will not operate normally. As a result, early detection is crucial for more effective therapy. Computed tomography (CT) images supply a rapid diagnosis of brain stroke. However, while doctors are analyzing each brain CT image, time is running fast. This circumstance may lead to result in a delay in treatment and making errors. Therefore, we targeted the utilization of an efficient artificial intelligence algorithm in stroke detection. In this paper, we designed hybrid algorithms that include a new convolution neural networks (CNN) architecture called OzNet and various machine learning algorithms for binary classification of real brain stroke CT images. When we classified the dataset with OzNet, we acquired successful performance. However, for this target, we combined it with a minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance (mRMR) method and Decision Tree (DT), k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Naïve Bayes (NB), and Support Vector Machines (SVM). In addition, 4096 significant features were obtained from the fully connected layer of OzNet, and we reduced the dimension of features from 4096 to 250 using the mRMR method. Finally, we utilized these machine learning algorithms to classify important features. As a result, OzNet-mRMR-NB was an excellent hybrid algorithm and achieved an accuracy of 98.42% and AUC of 0.99 to detect stroke from brain CT images. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With increasing access to open spatial data, it is possible to improve the quality of analyses carried out in the preliminary stages of the investment process. The extraction of buildings from raster data is an important process, especially for urban, planning and environmental studies. It allows, after processing, to represent buildings registered on a given image, e.g., in a vector format. With an actual image it is possible to obtain current information on the location of buildings in a defined area. At the same time, in recent years, there has been huge progress in the use of machine learning algorithms for object identification purposes. In particular, the semantic segmentation algorithms of deep convolutional neural networks which are based on the extraction of features from an image by means of masking have proven themselves here. The main problem with the application of semantic segmentation is the limited availability of masks, i.e., labelled data for training the network. Creating datasets based on manual labelling of data is a tedious, time consuming and capital-intensive process. Furthermore, any errors may be reflected in later analysis results. Therefore, this paper aims to show how to automate the process of data labelling of cadastral data from open spatial databases using convolutional neural networks, and to identify and extract buildings from high resolution orthophotomaps based on this data. The conducted research has shown that automatic feature extraction using semantic ML segmentation on the basis of data from open spatial databases is possible and can provide adequate quality of results. The vibration signals for offshore wind-turbine high-speed bearings are often contaminated with noises due to complex environmental and structural loads, which increase the difficulty of fault detection and diagnosis. In view of this problem, we propose a fault-diagnosis strategy with good noise immunity in this paper by integrating the two-dimensional convolutional neural network (2DCNN) with random forest (RF), which is supposed to utilize both CNN's automatic feature-extraction capability and the robust discrimination performance of RF classifiers. More specifically, the raw 1D time-domain bearing-vibration signals are transformed into 2D grayscale images at first, which are then fed to the 2DCNN-RF model for fault diagnosis. At the same time, three procedures, including exponential linear unit (ELU), batch normalization (BN), and dropout, are introduced in the model to improve feature-extraction performance and the noise immune capability. In addition, when the 2DCNN feature extractor is trained, the obtained feature vectors are passed to the RF classifier to improve the classification accuracy and generalization ability of the model. The experimental results show that the diagnostic accuracy of the 2DCNN-RF model could achieve 99.548% on the CWRU high-speed bearing dataset, which outperforms the standard CNN and other standard machine-learning and deep-learning algorithms. Furthermore, when the vibration signals are polluted with noises, the 2DCNN-RF model, without retraining the model or any denoising process, still achieves satisfying performance with higher accuracy than the other methods. Short-term load forecasting plays a significant role in the operation of power systems. Recently, deep learning has been generally employed in short-term load forecasting, primarily in the extraction of the characteristics of digital information in a single dimension without taking into account of the impact of external variables, particularly non-digital elements on load characteristics. In this paper, we propose a joint MFF-SAM-GCN to realize short-term load forecasting. First, we utilize a Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) network and One-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN) in parallel connection to form a multi-feature fusion (MFF) framework, which can extract spatiotemporal correlation features of the load data. In addition, we introduce a Self-Attention Mechanism (SAM) to further enhance the feature extraction capability of the 1D-CNN network. Then with the deployment of a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN), the external non-digital features such as weather, strength, and direction of wind, etc., are extracted. Moreover, the generated weight matrices are incorporated into the load features to enhance feature recognition ability. Finally, we exploit Bayesian Optimization (BO) to find the optimal hyperparameters of the model to further improve the prediction accuracy. The simulation is taken from our proposed model and six benchmark schemes by using the bus load dataset of the Shandong Open Data Network, China. The results show that the RMSE of our proposed MFF-SAM-GCN model is 0.0284, while the SMAPE is 9.453%,the MBE is 0.025, and R-squared is 0.989, which is better than the selected three traditional machine learning methods and the three deep learning models. In aerospace, marine, and other heavy industries, bearing fault diagnosis has been an essential part of improving machine life, reducing economic losses, and avoiding safety problems caused by machine bearing failures. Most existing bearing fault diagnosis methods face challenges in extracting the fault features from raw bearing fault data. Compared with traditional methods for bearing fault characteristics extraction, deep neural networks can automatically extract intrinsic features without expert knowledge. The convolutional neural network (CNN) was utilized most widely in extracting representative features of bearing faults. Fundamental to this, the hybrid models based on the CNN and individual classifiers were proposed to diagnose bearing faults. However, CNN may not be suitable for all bearing fault classifiers. It is crucial to identify the classifiers which can maximize the CNN feature extraction ability. In this paper, four hybrid models based on CNN were built, and their fault detection accuracy and efficiency were compared. Supraglacial meltwater accumulation on ice sheets can be a main driver for accelerated ice discharge, mass loss, and global sea-level-rise. With further increasing surface air temperatures, meltwater-induced hydrofracturing, basal sliding, or surface thinning will cumulate and most likely trigger unprecedented ice mass loss on the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. While the Greenland surface hydrological network as well as its impacts on ice dynamics and mass balance has been studied in much detail, Antarctic supraglacial lakes remain understudied with a circum-Antarctic record of their spatio-temporal development entirely lacking. This study provides the first automated supraglacial lake extent mapping method using Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery over Antarctica and complements the developed optical Sentinel-2 supraglacial lake detection algorithm presented in our companion paper. In detail, we propose the use of a modified U-Net for semantic segmentation of supraglacial lakes in single-polarized Sentinel-1 imagery. The convolutional neural network (CNN) is implemented with residual connections for optimized performance as well as an Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (ASPP) module for multiscale feature extraction. The algorithm is trained on 21,200 Sentinel-1 image patches and evaluated in ten spatially or temporally independent test acquisitions. In addition, George VI Ice Shelf is analyzed for intra-annual lake dynamics throughout austral summer 2019/2020 and a decision-level fused Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 maximum lake extent mapping product is presented for January 2020 revealing a more complete supraglacial lake coverage (~770 km2) than the individual single-sensor products. Classification results confirm the reliability of the proposed workflow with an average Kappa coefficient of 0.925 and a F 1 -score of 93.0% for the supraglacial water class across all test regions. Furthermore, the algorithm is applied in an additional test region covering supraglacial lakes on the Greenland ice sheet which further highlights the potential for spatio-temporal transferability. Future work involves the integration of more training data as well as intra-annual analyses of supraglacial lake occurrence across the whole continent and with focus on supraglacial lake development throughout a summer melt season and into Antarctic winter. Human activity recognition (HAR) is a classification task that involves predicting the movement of a person based on sensor data. As we can see, there has been a huge growth and development of smartphones over the last 10–15 years—they could be used as a medium of mobile sensing to recognize human activity. Nowadays, deep learning methods are in a great demand and we could use those methods to recognize human activity. A great way is to build a convolutional neural network (CNN). HAR using Smartphone dataset has been widely used by researchers to develop machine learning models to recognize human activity. The dataset has two parts: training and testing. In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach to analyze and recognize human activity on the same dataset using deep learning method on cloud-based platform. We have applied principal component analysis on the dataset to get the most important features. Next, we have executed the experiment for all the features as well as the top 48, 92, 138, and 164 features. We have run all the experiments on Google Colab. In the experiment, for the evaluation of our proposed methodology, datasets are split into two different ratios such as 70–10–20% and 80–10–10% for training, validation, and testing, respectively. We have set the performance of CNN (70% training–10% validation–20% testing) with 48 features as a benchmark for our work. In this work, we have achieved maximum accuracy of 98.70% with CNN. On the other hand, we have obtained 96.36% accuracy with the top 92 features of the dataset. We can see from the experimental results that if we could select the features properly then not only could the accuracy be improved but also the training and testing time of the model. In this paper, a Deep Learning approach is proposed to classify impact data based on the type of impact (Hard or Soft Impacts), via obtaining voltage signals from Piezo-Electric sensors, mounted on a composite panel. The data is processed further to be classified based on their energy, location and material. Minimalistic and Automated feature extraction and selection is achieved via a deep learning algorithm. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) are employed to extract and select important features from the voltage data. Once features are selected the impacts, are classified based on either, Hard Impacts (simulated from steel impactors in a lab setting), Soft Impacts (simulated from silicon impactors in a lab setting) and their corresponding location and energy levels. Furthermore, in order to use the right data for training they are obtained from the signals as anomalies via Isolation Forests (IF) to speed up the process. This paper investigates the use of deep learning techniques in order to perform energy demand forecasting. To this end, the authors propose a mixed architecture consisting of a convolutional neural network (CNN) coupled with an artificial neural network (ANN), with the main objective of taking advantage of the virtues of both structures: the regression capabilities of the artificial neural network and the feature extraction capacities of the convolutional neural network. The proposed structure was trained and then used in a real setting to provide a French energy demand forecast using Action de Recherche Petite Echelle Grande Echelle (ARPEGE) forecasting weather data. The results show that this approach outperforms the reference Réseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE, French transmission system operator) subscription-based service. Additionally, the proposed solution obtains the highest performance score when compared with other alternatives, including Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and traditional ANN models.
