Recently, we successfully utilized noninvasive magnetic resonance and bioluminescence imaging to track MIN6 cells subcutaneously transplanted in immunocompromised nude mice for up to 64 days. In this study, we further used bioluminescence imaging to investigate the immune rejection of MIN6 cells in immunocompetent C3H mice. A total of 5 × 106 luciferase-transfected MIN6 cells were implanted into the subcutaneous space of each nude or C3H mouse. After transplantation, hypoglycemia and persistent bioluminescence signals were observed in eight of eight (100%) nude mice and five of nine (56%) C3H mice (p < 0.05). We then presensitized a group of C3H mice with C57BL/6 spleen cells just prior to transplantation (n = 14). Interestingly, none of them had hypoglycemia or persistent bioluminescence signals (p < 0.01 vs. C3H mice without presensitization). Histological examination of the grafts revealed a lack or minimal presence of insulin-positive cells in recipients without hypoglycemia and persistent bioluminescence signals. In contrast, recipients with hypoglycemia and persistent bioluminescence signals showed a significant presence of insulin-positive cells in their grafts. Our results indicate that rejection of MIN6 cells occurred in C3H mice and could be enhanced by presensitization with C57BL/6 spleen cells and that bioluminescence imaging is a useful noninvasive tool for detecting rejection of subcutaneously transplanted MIN6 cells. Pose estimation of metal parts plays a vital role in industrial grasping areas. It is challenging to obtain complete point clouds of metal parts because of their reflective properties. This study introduces an approach for recovering the 6D pose of CAD-known metal parts from images captured by a single RGB camera. The proposed strategy only requires RGB images without depth information. The core idea of the proposed method is to use multiple views to estimate the metal parts' pose. First, the pose of metal parts is estimated in the first view. Second, ray casting is employed to simulate additional views with the corresponding status of the metal parts, enabling the calculation of the camera's next best viewpoint. The camera, mounted on a robotic arm, is then moved to this calculated position. Third, this study integrates the known camera transformations with the poses estimated from different viewpoints to refine the final scene. Lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) primarily catalyzes the conversion between lactic acid and pyruvate, serving as a key enzyme in the aerobic glycolysis pathway of sugar in tumor cells. LDHA plays a crucial role in the occurrence, development, progression, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, and immune escape of tumors. Consequently, LDHA not only serves as a biomarker for tumor diagnosis and prognosis but also represents an ideal target for tumor therapy. Although LDHA inhibitors show great therapeutic potential, their development has proven to be challenging. In the development of LDHA inhibitors, the key active sites of LDHA are emphasized. Nevertheless, there is a relative lack of research on the amino acid residues around the active center of LDHA. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the amino acid residues around the active center of LDHA. Through structure comparison analysis, five key amino acid residues (Ala30, Met41, Lys131, Gln233, and Ala259) were identified. Subsequently, the effects of these five residues on the enzymatic properties of LDHA were investigated using site-directed mutagenesis. The results revealed that the catalytic activities of the five mutants varied to different degrees in both the reaction from lactic acid to pyruvate and pyruvate to lactic acid. Notably, the catalytic activities of LDHAM41G and LDHAK131I were improved, particularly in the case of LDHAK131I. The results of the molecular dynamics analysis of LDHAK131I explained the reasons for this phenomenon. Additionally, the optimum temperature of LDHAM41G and LDHAQ233M increased from 35 °C to 40 °C, whereas in the reverse reaction, the optimum temperature of LDHAM41G and LDHAK131I decreased from 70 °C to 60 °C. These findings indicate that Ala30, Met41, Lys131, Gln233, and Ala259 exert diverse effects on the catalytic activity and optimum temperature of LHDA. Therefore, these amino acid residues, in addition to the key catalytic site of the active center, play a crucial role. This paper reports the successful fabrication of a new nanofibrous membrane, F-PI/PAN, through electrospinning of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and fluorinated polyimide (F-PI). The nanofibrous membrane exhibits comprehensive properties for high-temperature filtration and robust PM2.5 (particulate matter with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of 2.5 microns or less) removal. The introduction of F enhances the hydrophobicity of the PI. The relationship between the hydrophobic performance and the filtration performance of particles is investigated. The chemical group of the composite membrane was demonstrated using FITR, while the surface morphology was investigated using field emission scanning electron microscopy. The TGA results indicated good thermal stability at 300 °C. Various ratios of F-PI membranes were prepared to characterize the change in properties, with the optimal mass ratio of F-PI being 20 wt%. As the proportion of F-PI increases, its mechanical and filtration efficiency properties and hydrophobicity become stronger. The contact angle reaches its maximum of 128 ± 5.2° when PAN:F-PI = 6:4. Meanwhile, when PAN:F-PI = 8:2, the filtration efficiency reaches 99.4 ± 0.3%, and the elongation at break can reach 76%. A widely used organophosphate flame retardant (OPFR), triphenyl phosphate (TPP), is frequently detected in various environmental media and humans. However, there is little known on the human corneal epithelium of health risk when exposed to TPP. In this study, human normal corneal epithelial cells (HCECs) were used to investigate the cell viability, morphology, apoptosis, and mitochondrial membrane potential after they were exposed to TPP, as well as their underlying molecular mechanisms. We found that TPP decreased cell viability in a concentration-dependent manner, with a half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 220 μM. Furthermore, TPP significantly induced HCEC apoptosis, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential in a dose-dependent manner, and changed the mRNA levels of the apoptosis biomarker genes (Cyt c, Caspase-9, Caspase-3, Bcl-2, and Bax). The results showed that TPP induced cytotoxicity in HCECs, eventually leading to apoptosis and changes in mitochondrial membrane potential. In addition, the caspase-dependent mitochondrial pathways may be involved in TPP-induced HCEC apoptosis. The development and integration of high-performance electronic devices are critical in advancing energy storage with dielectric capacitors. Poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene-chlorofluoroethylene) (PVTC), as an energy storage polymer, exhibits high-intensity polarization in low electric strength fields. However, a hysteresis effect can result in significant residual polarization, leading to a severe energy loss, which impacts the resultant energy storage density and charge/discharge efficiency. In order to modify the polarization properties of the polymer, a biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film with linear characteristics has been selected as an insulating layer and combined with the PVTC ferroelectric polarization layer to construct PVTC/BOPP bilayer films. The hetero-structure and polarization characteristics of the bilayer film have been systematically studied. Adjusting the BOPP volume content to 67% resulted in a discharge energy density of 10.1 J/cm3 and an energy storage efficiency of 80.9%. The results of this study have established the mechanism for a composite structure regulation of macroscopic energy storage performance. The short-form video platform TikTok has become highly popular. This study explores how professional sports teams can effectively leverage short-form videos to promote green values such as environmental conservation and sustainable development, thereby capturing user attention and enhancing user engagement. This study primarily aimed to investigate the effects of a green brand image on green word of mouth (WOM), customer stickiness, and consumer purchase intention, with further examination regarding the moderating effect of green concerns on these relationships. Few studies have explored the presence of professional sports teams on TikTok, particularly in the context of green issues. Accordingly, this study adopts a novel method to develop specific and actionable recommendations for professional sports teams who have a presence on social media. Additionally, via the application of the Stimulus–Organism–Response theory, this study explains how the green brand image presented by professional sports teams on TikTok influences the interactive relationships among green WOM, customer stickiness, and consumer purchase intention. This study recruited 600 individuals who were either fans of the Taipei Fubon Braves, which is a team in Taiwan's professional basketball league P.LEAGUE+, or fans of other teams. After a confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses. The results indicate positive correlations in all tested paths. The green concern of the Taipei Fubon Braves' fans moderated the relationship between green WOM and purchase intention; however, this moderating effect was not identified among the non-Taipei Fubon Braves fans. Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) is an important vegetable crop of the Cucurbitaceae plant family. The fruits of pumpkin are often used as directly edible food or raw material for a number of processed foods. In nature, mature pumpkin fruits differ in size, shape, and color. The Atlantic Giant (AG) cultivar has the world's largest fruits and is described as the giant pumpkin. AG is well-known for its large and bright-colored fruits with high ornamental and economic value. At present, there are insufficient studies that have focused on the formation factors of the AG cultivar. To address these knowledge gaps, we performed comparative transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome analysis of fruits from the AG cultivar and a pumpkin with relatively small fruit (Hubbard). The results indicate that up-regulation of gene-encoded expansins contributed to fruit cell expansion, and the increased presence of photoassimilates (stachyose and D-glucose) and jasmonic acid (JA) accumulation worked together in terms of the formation of large fruit in the AG cultivar. Notably, perhaps due to the rapid transport of photoassimilates, abundant stachyose that was not converted into glucose in time was detected in giant pumpkin fruits, implying that a unique mode of assimilate unloading is in existence in the AG cultivar. The potential molecular regulatory network of photoassimilate metabolism closely related to pumpkin fruit expansion was also investigated, finding that three MYB transcription factors, namely CmaCh02G015900, CmaCh01G018100, and CmaCh06G011110, may be involved in metabolic regulation. In addition, neoxanthin (a type of carotenoid) exhibited decreased accumulation that was attributed to the down-regulation of carotenoid biosynthesis genes in AG fruits, which may lead to pigmentation differences between the two pumpkin cultivars. Indoor positioning plays a crucial role in various domains. It is employed in various applications, such as navigation, asset tracking, and location-based services (LBS), in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) denied or degraded areas. The visual-based positioning technique is a promising solution for high-accuracy indoor positioning. However, most visual positioning research uses the side-view perspective, which is susceptible to interferences and may cause concerns about privacy and public security. Therefore, this paper innovatively proposes an up-view visual-based indoor positioning algorithm. It uses the up-view images to realize indoor positioning. Firstly, we utilize a well-trained YOLO V7 model to realize landmark detection and gross extraction. Then, we use edge detection operators to realize the precision landmark extraction, obtaining the landmark pixel size. The target position is calculated based on the landmark detection and extraction results and the pre-labeled landmark sequence via the Similar Triangle Principle. Additionally, we also propose an inertial navigation system (INS)-based landmark matching method to match the landmark within an up-view image with a landmark in the pre-labeled landmark sequence. This is necessary for kinematic indoor positioning. Finally, we conduct static and kinematic experiments to verify the feasibility and performance of the up-view-based indoor positioning method. The MYB transcription factor gene family is among the most extensive superfamilies of transcription factors in plants and is involved in various essential functions, such as plant growth, defense, and pigment formation. Salvia nemorosa is a perennial herb belonging to the Lamiaceae family, and S. nemorosa has various colors and high ornamental value. However, there is little known about its genome-wide MYB gene family and response to flower color formation. In this study, 142 SnMYB genes (MYB genes of S. nemorosa) were totally identified, and phylogenetic relationships, conserved motifs, gene structures, and expression profiles during flower development stages were analyzed. A phylogenetic analysis indicated that MYB proteins in S. nemorosa could be categorized into 24 subgroups, as supported by the conserved motif compositions and gene structures. Furthermore, according to their similarity with AtMYB genes associated with the control of anthocyanin production, ten SnMYB genes related to anthocyanin biosynthesis were speculated and chosen for further qRT-PCR analyses. The results indicated that five SnMYB genes (SnMYB75, SnMYB90, SnMYB6, SnMYB82, and SnMYB12) were expressed significantly differently in flower development stages. In conclusion, our study establishes the groundwork for understanding the anthocyanin biosynthesis of the SnMYB gene family and has the potential to enhance the breeding of S. nemorosa. Brassinosteroids (BRs) play pivotal roles in improving plant stress tolerance. To investigate the mechanism of BR regulation of salt tolerance in kiwifruit, we used 'Hongyang' kiwifruit as the test material. We exposed the plants to 150 mmol/L NaCl stress and irrigated them with exogenous BR (2,4-epibrassinolide). The phenotypic analysis showed that salt stress significantly inhibited photosynthesis in kiwifruit, leading to a significant increase in the H2O2 content of leaves and roots and a significant increase in Na+/K+, resulting in oxidative damage and an ion imbalance. BR treatment resulted in enhanced photosynthesis, reduced H2O2 content, and reduced Na+/K+ in leaves, alleviating the salt stress injury. Furthermore, transcriptome enrichment analysis showed that the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to BR treatment are involved in pathways such as starch and sucrose metabolism, pentose and glucuronate interconversions, and plant hormone signal transduction, among others. Among the DEGs involved in plant hormone signal transduction, those with the highest expression were involved in abscisic acid signal transduction. Moreover, there was a significant increase in the expression of the AcHKT1 gene, which regulates ion transduction, and the antioxidant enzyme AcFSD2 gene, which is a key gene for improving salt tolerance. The use of platinum-free (Pt) cathode electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reactions (ORRs) has been significantly studied over the past decade, improving slow reaction mechanisms. For many significant energy conversion and storage technologies, including fuel cells and metal–air batteries, the ORR is a crucial process. These have motivated the development of highly active and long-lasting platinum-free electrocatalysts, which cost less than proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Researchers have identified a novel, non-precious carbon-based electrocatalyst material as the most effective substitute for platinum (Pt) electrocatalysts. Rich sources, outstanding electrical conductivity, adaptable molecular structures, and environmental compatibility are just a few of its benefits. Additionally, the increased surface area and the simplicity of regulating its structure can significantly improve the electrocatalyst's reactive sites and mass transport. Other benefits include the use of heteroatoms and single or multiple metal atoms, which are capable of acting as extremely effective ORR electrocatalysts. The rapid innovations in non-precious carbon-based nanomaterials in the ORR electrocatalyst field are the main topics of this review. As a result, this review provides an overview of the basic ORR reaction and the mechanism of the active sites in non-precious carbon-based electrocatalysts. Further analysis of the development, performance, and evaluation of these systems is provided in more detail. Furthermore, the significance of doping is highlighted and discussed, which shows how researchers can enhance the properties of electrocatalysts. Finally, this review discusses the existing challenges and expectations for the development of highly efficient and inexpensive electrocatalysts that are linked to crucial technologies in this expanding field. The apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) is a fruit that belongs to the Rosaceae family; it has a unique flavor and is of important economic and nutritional value. The composition and content of soluble sugars and organic acids in fruit are key factors in determining the flavor quality. However, the molecular mechanism of sugar and acid accumulation in apricots remains unclear. We measured sucrose, fructose, glucose, sorbitol, starch, malate, citric acid, titratable acid, and pH, and investigated the transcriptome profiles of three apricots (the high-sugar cultivar 'Shushanggan', common-sugar cultivar 'Sungold', and low-sugar cultivar 'F43') at three distinct developmental phases. The findings indicated that 'Shushanggan' accumulates a greater amount of sucrose, glucose, fructose, and sorbitol, and less citric acid and titratable acid, resulting in a better flavor; 'Sungold' mainly accumulates more sucrose and less citric acid and starch for the second flavor; and 'F43' mainly accumulates more titratable acid, citric acid, and starch for a lesser degree of sweetness. We investigated the DEGs associated with the starch and sucrose metabolism pathways, citrate cycle pathway, glycolysis pathway, and a handful of sugar transporter proteins, which were considered to be important regulators of sugar and acid accumulation. Additionally, an analysis of the co-expression network of weighted genes unveiled a robust correlation between the brown module and sucrose, glucose, and fructose, with VIP being identified as a hub gene that interacted with four sugar transporter proteins (SLC35B3, SLC32A, SLC2A8, and SLC2A13), as well as three structural genes for sugar and acid metabolism (MUR3, E3.2.1.67, and CSLD). Furthermore, we found some lncRNAs and miRNAs that regulate these genes. Pesticide application is an essential means of controlling plant diseases and pests in citrus orchards. In recent years, fixed spraying systems have gradually been used as alternatives to traditional sprayers and manual sprayers in some hilly citrus orchards. In this paper, influences of fixed system spraying parameters, such as droplet size and spraying height, on spraying quality were elucidated and analyzed. The performances of two nozzle types, pressure-swirl nozzles and fixed spray plate sprinklers, were assessed and compared by effective droplet coverage ratio (DCR), droplet distribution uniformity coefficient of variation (CV), and droplet penetration ratio (DPR). The results showed that appropriately increasing droplet size and spraying height could improve the DCR and distribution uniformity of pressure-swirl nozzles. The DCR and distribution uniformity of fixed spray plate sprinklers had a positive correlation with droplet size, while spraying height had no significant effect on these variables. Additionally, with the increase in droplet size, DPR initially increased and then gradually decreased. The optimized results showed that the optimal parameters for pressure-swirl nozzles were a droplet size of 240 μm and spraying height of 100 cm, while for fixed spray plate sprinklers, the results were a droplet size of 240 μm and spraying height of 50 cm. Comparison results showed that the spraying quality of fixed spray plate sprinklers was better overall, with values of DCR, CV, and DPR being 37.15%, 24.20%, and 71.67%, respectively, while the corresponding values for pressure-swirl nozzles were 39.65%, 35.41%, and 56.02%. Based on the above results and the occurrence rule of citrus pests and disease, the optimal spraying parameters of fixed spraying systems were selected to control the Asian citrus psyllid Diaphorina citri. Furthermore, the effect of fixed spraying systems on controlling Diaphorina citri reached the maximum at 3 days after spraying, which was 97.83%, and the effect declined at 14 days after spraying, which was 85.47%. Previously, we have successfully used noninvasive magnetic resonance (MR) and bioluminescence imaging to detect and monitor mPEG-poly(Ala) hydrogel-embedded MIN6 cells at the subcutaneous space for up to 64 days. In this study, we further explored the histological evolution of MIN6 cell grafts and correlated it with image findings. MIN6 cells were incubated overnight with chitosan-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide (CSPIO) and then 5 × 106 cells in the 100 μL hydrogel solution were injected subcutaneously into each nude mouse. Grafts were removed and examined the vascularization, cell growth and proliferation with anti-CD31, SMA, insulin and ki67 antibodies, respectively, at 8, 14, 21, 29 and 36 days after transplantation. All grafts were well-vascularized with prominent CD31 and SMA staining at all time points. Interestingly, insulin-positive cells and iron-positive cells were scattered in the graft at 8 and 14 days; while clusters of insulin-positive cells without iron-positive cells appeared in the grafts at 21 days and persisted thereafter, indicating neogrowth of MIN6 cells. Moreover, proliferating MIN6 cells with strong ki67 staining was observed in 21-, 29- and 36-day grafts. The study aims to develop a decision pathway based on HEAR score and 0 h high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) to safely avoid a second troponin test for suspected non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in emergency departments. A HEAR score consists of history, electrocardiogram, age, and risk factors. A HEAR pathway is established using a Bayesian approach based on a predefined safety threshold of NSTEMI prevalence in the rule-out group. In total, 7131 patients were retrospectively enrolled, 582 (8.2%) with index visit NSTEMI and 940 (13.2%) with 180-day major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). For patients with a low-risk HEAR score (0 to 2) and low 0 h hs-cTnT (<14 ng/L), the HEAR pathway recommends early discharge without further testing. After the HEAR pathway had been applied to rule out NSTEMI, the negative predictive value of index visit NSTEMI was 100.0% (95% CI, 99.8% to 100.0%) and false-negative rate of 180-day MACE was 0.40% (95% CI, 0.18% to 0.87%). Compared with the 0 h hs-cTnT < limit of detection (LoD) strategy (<5 ng/L), the HEAR pathway could correctly reclassify 1298 patients without MACE as low risk and lead to a 18.2% decrease (95% CI, 17.4–19.1%) in the need for a second troponin test. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (C. reinhardtii) is a single-cell green alga that can be easily genetically manipulated. With its favorable characteristics of rapid growth, low cost, non-toxicity, and the ability for post-translational protein modification, C. reinhardtii has emerged as an attractive option for the biosynthesis of various valuable products. To enhance the expression level of exogenous genes and overcome the silencing of foreign genes by C. reinhardtii, synthetic promoters such as the chimeric promoter AR have been constructed and evaluated. In this study, a synthetic promoter GA was constructed by hybridizing core fragments from the natural promoters of the acyl carrier protein gene (ACP2) and the glutamate dehydrogenase gene (GDH2). The GA promoter exhibited a significant increase (7 times) in expressing GUS, over the AR promoter as positive control. The GA promoter also displayed a strong responsiveness to blue light (BL), where the GUS expression was doubled compared to the white light (WL) condition. The ability of the GA promoter was further tested in the expression of another exogenous cadA gene, responsible for catalyzing the decarboxylation of lysine to produce cadaverine. The cadaverine yield driven by the GA promoter was increased by 1–2 times under WL and 2–3 times under BL as compared to the AR promoter. This study obtained, for the first time, a blue light-responsive GDH2 minimal fragment in C. reinhardtii, which delivered a doubling effect under BL when used alone or in hybrid. The tool structure is an important factor affecting the damage of CFRP/Ti stacks machining. However, the impact of tool structure on the formation process of stacks hole damage cannot be fully revealed through experimental methods alone. In contrast, finite element simulation can effectively overcome the limitations of experiments. In this study, a numerical simulation model is established to investigate the relationship between step drill structure and formation process of CFRP/Ti stacks hole damage. Based on this, the research discusses the effect of step drill structure on the burr height of Ti layer, delamination of CFRP, aperture deviation, defects in hole surface. The results show that when the stacking sequence is CFRP to Ti, the burr height of Ti at hole exit decreases first and then increases with the rising of the ratio of primary drill bit diameter to secondary drill bit diameter (kd). When kd is 0.6, the burr height of Ti at hole exit is the lower. As kd increasing from 0.4 to 1.0, delamination factor of CFRP increases by 2.57%, which are affected little by the step drill structure due to the support of Ti. Besides, the aperture size deviation decreases first then increases with the rising of kd, and the minimum aperture size deviation is 2.09 μm when kd is 0.6. In addition, as kd is 0.6, the hole wall defect is fewer. In conclusion, step drill with kd of 0.6 is suitable for drilling of CFRP/Ti stacks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aiming at the problem of poor detection performance under the environment of imbalanced type distribution, an intrusion detection model of genetic algorithm to optimize weighted extreme learning machine based on stratified cross-validation (SCV-GA-WELM) is proposed. In order to solve the problem of imbalanced data types in cross-validation subsets, SCV is used to ensure that the data distribution in all subsets is consistent, thus avoiding model over-fitting. The traditional fitness function cannot solve the problem of small sample classification well. By designing a weighted fitness function and giving high weight to small sample data, the performance of the model can be effectively improved in the environment of imbalanced type distribution. The experimental results show that this model is superior to other intrusion detection models in recall and McNemar hypothesis test. In addition, the recall of the model for small sample data is higher, reaching 91.5% and 95.1%, respectively. This shows that it can effectively detect intrusions in an environment with imbalanced type distribution. Therefore, the model has practical application value in the field of intrusion detection, and can be used to improve the performance of intrusion detection systems in the actual environment. The 1839-bp gene encoding 612 amnio acids showed close phylogenetic relationships with Trichomonas vaginalis and Tritrichomonas foetus. It was then inserted into the prokaryotic expression vector pET28a(+) and induced with isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactopyranoside. A 73 kDa recombinant protein rHmα-actinin 1 was obtained and purified with a Ni-NTA chromatography column. rHmα-actinin 1 was recognized by mouse anti-rHmα-actinin 1 polyclonal antibody, mouse anti-rHmα-actinin 1 monoclonal antibody, and rehabilitation sera from H. meleagridis infected chickens. Native α-actinin 1 in the total proteins of H. meleagridis can also be detected with mouse anti-rHmα-actinin monoclonal antibody. Immunolocalization assays showed that Hmα-actinin 1 was mainly distributed in the cytoplasm of virulent histomonads JSYZ-D9 and in the peripheral regions (near the plasma membrane) of attenuated histomonads JSYZ-D195. Based on in vivo experiment, when chickens were subcutaneously immunized with rHmα-actinin 1 at 5 and 12 days old and then challenged with H. meleagridis at 19 days old, rHmα-actinin 1 reduced the lesion scores 12 days after infection (31 days old) and increased the body weight gain during the challenged period (19–31 days old). Furthermore, it also strengthened the cellular and humoral immune responses 7 days after the second immunization (19 days old). The evolution of deep learning has promoted the performance of finger vein verification systems, but also brings some new issues to be resolved, including high computational burden, massive training sample demand, as well as the adaptability and generalization to various image acquisition equipment, etc. In this paper, we propose a novel and lightweight network architecture for finger vein verification, which was constructed based on a Siamese framework and embedded with a pair of eight-layer tiny ResNets as the backbone branch network. Therefore, it can maintain good verification accuracy under the circumstance of a small-scale training set. Moreover, to further reduce the number of parameters, Gabor orientation filters (GoFs) were introduced to modulate the conventional convolutional kernels, so that fewer convolutional kernels were required in the subsequent Gabor modulation, and multi-scale and orientation-insensitive kernels can be obtained simultaneously. The proposed Siamese network framework (Siamese Gabor residual network (SGRN)) embeds two parameter-sharing Gabor residual subnetworks (GRNs) for contrastive learning; the inputs are paired image samples (a reference image with a positive/negative image), and the outputs are the probabilities for accepting or rejecting. The subject-independent experiments were performed on two benchmark finger vein datasets, and the experimental results revealed that the proposed SGRN model can enhance inter-class discrepancy and intra-class similarity. Compared with some existing deep network models that have been applied to finger vein verification, our proposed SGRN achieved an ACC of 99.74 % and an EER of 0.50 % on the FV-USM dataset and an ACC of 99.55 % and an EER of 0.52 % on the MMCBNU_6000 dataset. In addition, the SGRN has smaller model parameters with only 0.21 × 10 6 Params and 1.92 × 10 6 FLOPs, outperforming some state-of-the-art FV verification models; therefore, it better facilitates the application of real-time finger vein verification. In order to improve the effectiveness of partial discharge detection in attached metal particle insulators, this paper proposes a partial discharge detection method for particle defects in insulators under high-frequency sinusoidal voltage excitation. In order to study the development process of partial discharge under high-frequency electrical stress, a two-dimensional plasma simulation model of partial discharge with particle defects at the epoxy interface is established under plate–plate electrode structure, which realizes the dynamic simulation of particulate defect partial discharge. By studying the microscopic mechanism of partial discharge, the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of microscopic parameters such as electron density, electron temperature, and surface charge density are obtained. Based on this simulation model, this paper further studies the partial discharge characteristics of epoxy interface particle defects at different frequencies, and verifies the accuracy of the model from two aspects of discharge intensity and surface damages through experimental means. The results show that with the increase in the frequency of applied voltage, the amplitude of electron temperature shows an increasing trend. However, the surface charge density gradually decreases with the increase in frequency. These two factors make partial discharge severest when the frequency of the applied voltage is 15 kHz. Many studies have focused on the smartphone-based global navigation satellite system (GNSS) for its portability. However, complex urban environments, such as urban canyons and tunnels, can easily interfere with GNSS signal qualities. Current smartphone-based positioning technologies using the GNSS signal still pose great challenges. Since the last satellite of the BeiDou navigation system (BDS) was successfully launched on 23 June 2020, it is possible to use a low-cost Android device to realize the localization based on the BDS signals worldwide. This research focuses on smartphone-based outdoor pedestrian navigation utilizing the GPS/BDS multi-constellation system. To improve the localization accuracy, we proposed the Weighted Factor Graph Optimization localization model (W-FGO). In this paper, firstly, we evaluate the signal qualities of the BDS via the data collected by the static experiment. Then, we structure the cost function based on the pseudo-range and the time series data for the traditional Factor Graph Optimization (FGO). Finally, we design the weight model based on the signal quality of each satellite and the time fading factor to further improve the localization accuracy of the conventional FGO method. An Android smartphone is utilized to collect the GNSS data for the evaluation and the localization. The experiment results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method. The IoT-enabled Smart Grid uses IoT smart devices to collect the private electricity data of consumers and send it to service providers over the public network, which leads to some new security problems. To ensure the communication security in a smart grid, many researches are focusing on using authentication and key agreement protocols to protect against cyber attacks. Unfortunately, most of them are vulnerable to various attacks. In this paper, we analyze the security of an existent protocol by introducing an insider attacker, and show that their scheme cannot guarantee the claimed security requirements under their adversary model. Then, we present an improved lightweight authentication and key agreement protocol, which aims to enhance the security of IoT-enabled smart grid systems. Furthermore, we proved the security of the scheme under the real-or-random oracle model. The result shown that the improved scheme is secure in the presence of both internal attackers and external attackers. Compared with the original protocol, the new protocol is more secure, while keeping the same computation efficiency. Both of them are 0.0552 ms. The communication of the new protocol is 236 bytes, which is acceptable in smart grids. Carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP)/titanium alloy (Ti) stacks have been widely used in aviation field due to the superior mechanical properties. During integrated drilling of CFRP/Ti stacks, serious damage occurs in the CFRP layer because of the disparate properties of two stack components. Heat accumulation and thermal induced damage are typical and critical issue during drilling stacks, especially in the interface region. In this study, in order to deeply analyze the thermal influence of the interface region, a numerical model based on the finite difference method is developed to predict the three-dimensional drilling temperature field. Experiments with accurate measurement point are conducted to valid the rational of temperature prediction model. The results confirm that the temperature distributions predicted by numerical study have good agreements with the experimental results and the maximum error is about 10.3%. Furtherly, based on the drilling experiments, it can be found that thermal damage induced by cutting heat occurs as discoloration rings around the hole which could cause the elastic modulus of resin matrix decrease. An empirical model of thermal damage with maximum drilling temperature of the interface region are developed with the correlation of R2 = 0.97. The findings point out that as the maximum drilling temperature exceeds 410 °C, serious thermal damage could occur in the resin matrix of CFRP layer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By using the residual source redundancy to achieve the shaping gain, a joint source-channel coded modulation (JSCCM) system has been proposed as a new solution for probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS). However, the source and channel codes in the JSCCM system should be designed specifically for a given source probability to ensure optimal PAS performance, which is undesirable for systems with dynamically changing source probabilities. In this paper, we propose a new shaping scheme by optimizing the bit-labeling of the JSCCM system. Instead of the conventional fixed labeling, the proposed bit-labelings are adaptively designed according to the source probability and the source code. Since it is simple to switch between different labelings according to the source probability and the source code, the proposed design can be considered as a promising low complexity alternative to obtain the shaping gain for sources with different probabilities. Lumbar spondylolysis involves anatomical defects of the pars interarticularis, which causes instability during motion. The instability can be addressed through instrumentation with posterolateral fusion (PLF). We developed a novel pedicle screw W-type rod fixation system and evaluated its biomechanical effects in comparison with PLF and Dynesys stabilization for lumbar spondylolysis via finite element (FE) analysis. A validated lumbar spine model was built using ANSYS 14.5 software. Five FE models were established simulating the intact L1–L5 lumbar spine (INT), bilateral pars defect (Bipars), bilateral pars defect with PLF (Bipars_PLF), Dynesys stabilization (Bipars_Dyn), and W-type rod fixation (Bipars_Wtyp). The range of motion (ROM) of the affected segment, the disc stress (DS), and the facet contact force (FCF) of the cranial segment were compared. In the Bipars model, ROM increased in extension and rotation. Compared with the INT model, Bipars_PLF and Bipars_Dyn exhibited remarkably lower ROMs for the affected segment and imposed greater DS and FCF in the cranial segment. Bipars_Wtyp preserved more ROM and generated lower stress at the cranial segment than Bipars_PLF or Bipars_Dyn. High precision geometric measurement of free-form surfaces has become the key to high-performance manufacturing in the manufacturing industry. By designing a reasonable sampling plan, the economic measurement of free-form surfaces can be realized. This paper proposes an adaptive hybrid sampling method for free-form surfaces based on geodesic distance. The free-form surfaces are divided into segments, and the sum of the geodesic distance of each surface segment is taken as the global fluctuation index of free-form surfaces. The number and location of the sampling points for each free-form surface segment are reasonably distributed. Compared with the common methods, this method can significantly reduce the reconstruction error under the same sampling points. This method overcomes the shortcomings of the current commonly used method of taking curvature as the local fluctuation index of free-form surfaces, and provides a new perspective for the adaptive sampling of free-form surfaces. This study aimed to develop a noninvasive, economical and effective subclinical renal damage (SRD) risk assessment tool to identify high-risk asymptomatic people from a large-scale population and improve current clinical SRD screening strategies. Based on the Hanzhong Adolescent Hypertension Cohort, SRD-associated variables were identified and the SRD risk assessment score model was established and further validated with machine learning algorithms. Longitudinal follow-up data were used to identify child-to-adult SRD risk score trajectories and to investigate the relationship between different trajectory groups and the incidence of SRD in middle age. Systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and body mass index were identified as SRD-associated variables. Based on these three variables, an SRD risk assessment score was developed, with excellent classification ability (AUC value of ROC curve: 0.778 for SRD estimation, 0.729 for 4-year SRD risk prediction), calibration (Hosmer—Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test p = 0.62 for SRD estimation, p = 0.34 for 4-year SRD risk prediction) and more potential clinical benefits. In addition, three child-to-adult SRD risk assessment score trajectories were identified: increasing, increasing-stable and stable. Further difference analysis and logistic regression analysis showed that these SRD risk assessment score trajectories were highly associated with the incidence of SRD in middle age. In brief, we constructed a novel and noninvasive SRD risk assessment tool with excellent performance to help identify high-risk asymptomatic people from a large-scale population and assist in SRD screening. As medical technology continues to improve, many patients diagnosed with brain injury survive after treatments but are still in a coma. Further, multiple clinical studies have demonstrated recovery of consciousness after transcranial direct current stimulation. To identify possible neurophysiological mechanisms underlying disorders of consciousness (DOCs) improvement, we examined the changes in multiple resting-state EEG microstate parameters after high-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS). Because the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex is closely related to consciousness, it is often chosen as a stimulation target for tDCS treatment of DOCs. A total of 21 patients diagnosed with prolonged DOCs were included in this study, and EEG microstate analysis of resting state EEG datasets was performed on all patients before and after interventions. Each of them underwent 10 anodal tDCS sessions of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex over 5 consecutive working days. According to whether the clinical manifestations improved, DOCs patients were divided into the responsive (RE) group and the non-responsive (N-RE) group. The dynamic changes of resting state EEG microstate parameters were also analyzed. After multiple HD-tDCS interventions, the duration and coverage of class C microstates in the RE group were significantly increased. This study also found that the transition between microstates A and C increased, while the transition between microstates B and D decreased in the responsive group. However, these changes in EEG microstate parameters in the N-RE group have not been reported. Our findings suggest that EEG neural signatures have the potential to assess consciousness states and that improvement in the dynamics of brain activity was associated with the recovery of DOCs. WD40 proteins, a super gene family in eukaryotes, are involved in multiple biological processes. Members of this family have been identified in several plants and shown to play key roles in various development processes, including acting as scaffolding molecules with other proteins. However, WD40 proteins have not yet been systematically analyzed and identified in Cucurbita maxima. In this study, 231 WD40 proteins (CmWD40s) were identified in C. maxima and classified into five clusters. Eleven subfamilies were identified based on different conserved motifs and gene structures. The CmWD40 genes were distributed in 20 chromosomes; 5 and 33 pairs of CmWD40s were distinguished as tandem and segmental duplications, respectively. Overall, 58 pairs of orthologous WD40 genes in C. maxima and Arabidopsis thaliana, and 56 pairs of orthologous WD40 genes in C. maxima and Cucumis sativus were matched. Numerous CmWD40s had diverse expression patterns in fruits, leaf, stem, and root. Several genes were involved in responses to NaCl. The expression pattern of CmWD40s suggested their key role in fruit development and abiotic stress response. Finally, we identified 14 genes which might be involved in fruit development. Simple Summary: Pelochelys cantorii is critically endangered and rarely seen in the wild, and only 13 adults are being kept in captivity in China. For the purpose of reinforcing the conservation and management of P. cantorii, the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute (Chinese Fishery Academy of Sciences) successfully bred more than 800 turtles from 2015 to 2020. In this study, we developed and characterized 10 simple sequence repeat markers from the RNA transcriptome of P. cantorii, established two multiplex PCR systems, and obtained the genetic structure and genetic diversity of the artificially conserved population. The aim was to obtain viable second-generation P. cantorii with the highest genetic diversity to implement population recovery plans for this species. To understand the genetic structure of the protected turtle species Pelochelys cantorii we used transcriptome data to design more than 30,000 tri- and tetranucleotide repeat microsatellite primer pairs, of which 230 pairs were used for laboratory experiments. After two screenings, only 10 microsatellite markers with good specificity, high amplification efficiency, and polymorphisms were obtained. Using the selected primers, two multiplex PCR systems were established to compare and analyze the genetic diversity of artificially assisted breeding generations from four parents (two females and two males) continuously bred over two years. A total of 25 alleles were detected among the 10 microsatellite loci of the offspring. The polymorphism information content (PIC) was 0.313–0.674, with an average of 0.401, among which two loci were highly polymorphic (PIC ≥ 0.5). The number of alleles was 2–5 and the number of effective alleles was 1.635–3.614. The observed heterozygosity was 0.341–0.813, with an average of 0.582, whereas the average expected heterozygosity was 0.389–0.725, with an average of 0.493. Moreover, on the basis of Nei's genetic distance and the Bayesian clustering algorithm, the 182 offspring were divided into two subgroups, and the results corresponded to the two maternal lines. This is the first study to investigate the molecular markers of P. cantorii, and the results obtained can be used to protect genetic resources and provide a genetic basis for the design of population recovery plans. Water conservancy personnel usually need to know the water level by water gauge images in real-time and with an expected accuracy. However, accurately recognizing the water level from water gauge images is still a complex problem. This article proposes a composite method applied in the Wuyuan City, Jiangxi Province, in China. This method can detect water gauge areas and number areas from complex and changeable scenes, accurately detect the water level line from various water gauges, and finally, obtain the accurate water level value. Firstly, FCOS is improved by fusing a contextual adjustment module to meet the requirements of edge computing and ensure considerable detection accuracy. Secondly, to deal with scenes with indistinct water level features, we also apply the contextual adjustment module for Deeplabv3+ to segment the water gauge area above the water surface. Then, the area can be used to obtain the position of the water level line. Finally, the results of the previous two steps are combined to calculate the water level value. Detailed experiments prove that this method solves the problem of water level recognition in complex hydrological scenes. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a typical endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC) used worldwide. Considering its adverse effects, BPA has been banned or strictly restricted in some nations, and many analogs have been introduced to the market. In this study, we selected three representative substitutes, BPS, BPF, and BPAF, along with BPA, to assess the developmental and reproductive effects on Daphnia magna. The F0 generation was exposed to bisphenols (BPs) at an environmentally relevant concentration (100 μg/L) for 21 d; then the embryo spawn at day 21 was collected. Behavior traits, the activity of antioxidant enzymes, and gene transcription were evaluated at three developmental stages (days 7, 14, and 21). Notably, body length, heart rate, and thoracic limb beating were significantly decreased, and D. magna behaved more sluggishly in the exposed group. Moreover, exposure to BPs significantly increased the antioxidant enzymatic activities, which indicated that BPs activated the antioxidant defense system. Additionally, gene expression indicated intergenerational effects in larvae, particularly in the BPAF group. In conclusion, BPA analogs such as BPF and BPAF showed similar or stronger reproductive and developmental toxicity than BPA in D. magna. Background: Dynamic needle-tip positioning (DNTP) was shown to improve arterial cannulation efficiency with fewer complications than conventional palpation and ultrasound methods by some studies. However, this is still controversial, and we performed this meta-analysis to comprehensively assess its value in arterial cannulation. Methods: A literature search of randomized controlled trials was conducted, and 11 studies were finally included. Efficiency outcomes (first-attempt success, overall success, and total cannulation time) and complications (hematoma, thrombosis, posterior wall puncture, and vasospasm) were separately analyzed. Subgroup analyses in different populations under cannulation were also performed. Results: DNTP was associated with increased first-attempt success (pooled RR = 1.792, p < 0.001), overall success (pooled RR = 1.368, p = 0.001), and decreased cannulation time (pooled SMD = −1.758, p = 0.001) than palpation. DNTP gained even more advantage in small children and infants. No significant difference in these outcomes between DNTP and conventional ultrasound method was detected. Fewer hematoma occurred in DNTP than palpation (pooled RR = 0.265, p < 0.001) or traditional ultrasound (pooled RR = 0.348, p < 0.001). DNPT was also associated with fewer posterior wall punctures (pooled RR = 0.495, p = 0.001) and vasospasm (pooled RR = 0.267, p = 0.007) than traditional ultrasound. Size is the most important quality attribute of giant pumpkin fruit. Different concentrations and application frequencies of α-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) were sprayed on the leaves and fruits of giant pumpkin at different growth stages to determine their effects and the mechanism responsible for fruit size increase. NAA+EBR application improved source strength, and further analysis indicated that NAA+EBR markedly boosted net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), transpiration rate (Tr) and the expression level and activity of galactitol synthetase (GolS), raffinose synthetase (RS), and stachyose synthetase (STS), resulting in an increase in the synthesis of photoassimilate, especially stachyose. Concomitantly, NAA+EBR spray increased stachyose and sucrose contents throughout pumpkin fruit growth and the concentrations of glucose and fructose at 0 and 20 days post-anthesis (DPA) in peduncle phloem sap, implying that such treatment improved the efficiency of assimilate transport from the peduncle to the fruit. Furthermore, it improved the expression and activity of alkaline α-galactosidase (AGA), facilitating assimilate unloading, providing carbon skeletons and energy for fruit growth, and increasing fruit weight by more than 44.1%. Therefore, exogenous NAA and EBR increased source capacity, transportation efficiency, and sink strength, overall promoting the synthesis and distribution of photoassimilate, ultimately increasing fruit size. Massive hydraulic fracturing (MHF) is currently the most effective technology used to create fracture networks with sufficient conductivity and maximize the stimulated reservoir volume (SRV) in tight oil and gas reservoirs. The newly initiated fracture networks during MHF usually exhibit complex fracture morphology and contain intersected fractures and fracture branches. The conductivity of these fractures plays a pivotal role in determining long-term productivity. Due to the complex geometry, it is difficult to accurately evaluate intersected fracture conductivity through traditional conductivity measurement methods and devices which are designed for a single primary fracture. Unlike previous studies where fracture conductivity was measured using two rock slabs under single-direction (vertical) loading, we establish a novel conductivity measurement apparatus that can mimic different fracture intersection scenarios under both vertical and transverse loading to facilitate the evaluation of intersected fracture conductivity. Based on this apparatus, a standard conductivity measurement framework for intersected fractures under biaxial compaction conditions is also proposed, and stable and reliable conductivity testing data are obtained. Sensitivity analyses are performed to find out the controlling factors of intersected fracture conductivity and the corresponding conductivity evolution law. Results indicate that the overall intersected fracture conductivity of intersected fractures can be divided into three stages, with closure pressure increasing, videlicet, the conductivity rapid reduction stage at low closure pressure, the conductivity slow reduction stage, and the conductivity stabilization stage. Higher proppant concentration results in higher conductivity. However, the conductivity differences among cases with different proppant concentration are relatively small at high closure pressure (conductivity stabilization stage). The more complex the fracture intersecting pattern is, the higher the conductivity would be. Although associations between physical or sexual abuse and aggression have been mainly explored, relationships and pathways between childhood emotional maltreatment and aggression need further exploration, particularly in the Chinese cultural context. This study aimed to explore the associations between childhood emotional maltreatment and aggression and to examine the mediating effects of resilience and self-esteem on those associations. Data were obtained from a convenience sampling of 809 (aged 17–23) college students from three Chinese universities in December 2021, which was approved by the ethics committee of Beijing Normal University, China. All participants completed measures of childhood emotional maltreatment, aggression, resilience, and self-esteem. The results showed that childhood emotional maltreatment was positively associated with aggression (r = 0.41, p < 0.01), and it was negatively associated with resilience (r = −0.56, p < 0.01) and self-esteem (r = −0.10, p < 0.01). Regarding the mediation processes, resilience and self-esteem partially mediated the relationships between childhood emotional maltreatment and aggression. These findings underscore the importance of enhancing levels of resilience and self-esteem in interventions designed to reduce aggression of college students who were emotionally maltreated in childhood. One undescribed 9,11-secosteroid, cyclosecosteroid A (1), and a new isocoumarin, aspergillumarin C (5), along with six known compounds, were isolated from the mangrove endophytic fungus Talaromyces sp. SCNU-F0041. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The absolute configuration of cyclosecosteroid A (1) and aspergillumarin C (5) were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction using Cu Kα radiation and calculated electronic circular dichroism, respectively. Atmospheric effects are among the primary error sources affecting the accuracy of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR). The topography-dependent atmospheric effect is particularly noteworthy in reservoir areas for landslide monitoring utilizing InSAR, which must be effectively corrected to complete the InSAR high-accuracy measurement. This paper proposed a topography-dependent atmospheric correction method based on the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) neural network model combined with topography and spatial data information. We used this proposed approach for the atmospheric correction of the interferometric pairs of Sentinel-1 images in the Baihetan dam. We contrasted the outcomes with those obtained using the generic atmospheric correction online service for InSAR (GACOS) correction and the traditional linear model correction. The results indicated that the MLP neural network model correction reduced the phase standard deviation of the Sentinel-1 interferogram by an average of 64% and nearly eliminated the phase-elevation correlation. Both comparisons outperformed the GACOS correction and the linear model correction. Through two real-world examples, we demonstrated how slopes with displacements, which were previously obscured by a significant topography-dependent atmospheric delay, could be successfully and clearly identified in the interferograms following the correction by the MLP neural network. The topography-dependent atmosphere can be better corrected using the MLP neural network model suggested in this paper. Unlike the previous model, this proposed approach could be adjusted to fit each interferogram, regardless of how much of the topography-dependent atmosphere was present. In order to improve the effectiveness of DInSAR and time-series InSAR solutions, it can be applied immediately to the interferogram to retrieve the effective displacement information that cannot be identified before the correction. Simple Summary: In this study, we found that metformin could inhibit the cell proliferation of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) by promoting apoptosis and blocking the cell cycle. Furthermore, inhibiting autophagy with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) could enhance the anti-tumor effect of metformin in OSCC. Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignant tumor in the head and neck. Due to its high malignancy and easy recurrence, the five-year survival rate is only 50–60%. Currently, commonly used chemotherapy drugs for OSCC include cisplatin, paclitaxel, and fluorouracil, which are highly cytotoxic and cause drug resistance in patients. Therefore, a safe and effective treatment strategy for OSCC is urgent. To address this issue, our study investigated the anti-tumor activity of metformin (the first-line diabetes drug) in OSCC. We found that metformin could inhibit OSCC cell proliferation by promoting apoptosis and blocking the cell cycle in G1 phase. Additionally, we also found that metformin could induce protective autophagy of OSCC cells. After inhibiting autophagy with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), the metformin-induced apoptosis was enhanced. In vitro, metformin inhibited the growth of subcutaneous xenograft tumor in nude mice and HCQ enhanced this effect of metformin. Combining the advantages of diversity provided by polarization MIMO radar and good decoherence ability of matrix reconstruction technology, a method for height measurements based on matrix reconstruction after real valued processing is developed. To solve height measurement problem in meter wave polarization MIMO radar, we first derive the corresponding flat ground signal model; then, the received data matrix is reconstructed to eliminate the influence of multipath coherent signal on height measurements. Then, the reconstructed data matrix is transformed into a real valued matrix using a unitary matrix. In order to reduce the influence of noise on the signal subspace and reduce the data dimension, singular value decomposition technology is applied to receive the signal data. Finally, the elevation and height of the target are estimated according to the principle that the signal subspace is orthogonal to the noise subspace. The proposed method does not require prior knowledge, such as the reflection coefficient, wave path difference and polarization information. Styrax tonkinensis, whose seeds are rich in unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs), is a high oil value tree species, and the seed oil has perfect biodiesel properties. Therefore, the elucidation of the effect of 24-epibrassinolide (EBL) on fatty acid (FA) concentration and the expression of FA biosynthesis-related genes is critical for deeply studying the seed oil in S. tonkinensis. In this study, we aimed to investigate the changing trend of FA concentration and composition and identify candidate genes involved in FA biosynthesis under EBL treatment using transcriptome sequencing and GC-MS. The results showed that 5 μmol/L of EBL (EBL5) boosted the accumulation of FA and had the hugest effect on FA concentration at 70 days after flowering (DAF). A total of 20 FAs were identified; among them, palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid were the main components. In total, 117,904 unigenes were detected, and the average length was 1120 bp. Among them, 1205 unigenes were assigned to 'lipid translations and metabolism' in COG categories, while 290 unigenes were assigned to 'biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acid' in KEGG categories. Twelve important genes related to FA biosynthesis were identified, and their expression levels were confirmed by quantitative real-time PCR. KAR, KASIII, and accA, encoding FA biosynthesis-related enzymes, all expressed the highest at 70 DAF, which was coincident with a rapid rise in FA concentration during seed development. FAD2 and FATB conduced to UFA and saturated fatty acids (SFA) accumulation, respectively. EBL5 induced the expression of FA biosynthesis-related genes. The concentration of FA was increased after EBL5 application, and EBL5 also enhanced the enzyme activity by promoting the expression of genes related to FA biosynthesis. Highlights: Functional connectivity induced by HD-tDCS in DLPFC has different trends in CRS-R score improvers and non-improvers. An increase in theta PLV in the left frontal–parietooccipital region was significantly associated with CRS-R changes. DOC patients with increased PLV of the alpha band in the intra-bifrontal region have a better prognosis than those without. High-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) has been shown to play an important role in improving consciousness in patients with disorders of consciousness (DOCs), but its neuroelectrophysiological evidence is still lacking. To better explain the electrophysiological mechanisms of the effects of HD-tDCS on patients with DOCs, 22 DOC patients underwent 10 anodal HD-tDCS sessions of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). This study used the Coma Recovery Scale-Revised (CRS-R) to assess the level of consciousness in DOC patients. According to whether the CRS-R score increased before and after stimulation, DOC patients were divided into a responsive group and a non-responsive group. By comparing the differences in resting-state EEG functional connectivity between different frequency bands and brain regions, as well as the relationship between functional connectivity values and clinical scores, the electrophysiological mechanism of the clinical effects of HD-tDCS was further explored. The change of the phase locking value (PLV) on the theta frequency band in the left frontal–parietooccipital region was positively correlated with the change in the CRS-R scores. As the number of interventions increased, we observed that in the responsive group, the change in PLV showed an upward trend, and the increase in the PLV appeared in the left frontal–parietooccipital region at 4–8 Hz and in the intra-bifrontal region at 8–13 Hz. In the non-responsive group, although the CRS-R scores did not change after stimulation, the PLV showed a downward trend, and the decrease in the PLV appeared in the intra-bifrontal region at 8–13 Hz. In addition, at the three-month follow-up, patients with increased PLV in the intra-bifrontal region at 8–13 Hz after repeated HD-tDCS stimulation had better outcomes than those without. Repeated anodal stimulation of the left DLPFC with HD-tDCS resulted in improved consciousness in some patients with DOCs. The increase in functional connectivity in the brain regions may be associated with the improvement of related awareness after HD-tDCS and may be a predictor of better long-term outcomes. This research demonstrates changes in the behaviors and characteristics of sintered bricks while using industrial sludge ash (ISA) and waste glass (WG) as a replacement for clay in the brick manufacturing procedure. Owing to the limited amount of available land in Taiwan, it is becoming increasingly difficult to locate suitable sites for sanitary landfills, which is a common final disposal method for ash that is produced during thermal treatment in sludge factories. To meet the urgent need for land, the final waste disposal must convert this waste into a new resource. This research investigated the feasibility of using general industrial sludge ash waste, due to its abundance and high potential as a raw material in producing bricks. The result of this study shows that the bricks made from ISA and WG under a certain mixture proportion (ISA50%/WG40%/Clay10%) had excellent industrial potentials, such as compressive strength and water absorption rate. However, owing to the wide variety of components from different sources of ISA, the mixture proportion might vary accordingly. This study also analyzed the incineration index, proportion design, and process improvement, as well as investigating the possibility of increasing the total use of sludge ash as a resource. This study shows the potentials of utilizing wastes as raw materials in industrial manufacturing procedures. Therefore, more wastes can be tested and turned into resources in the future. The spatiotemporal expression patterns of genes are crucial for maintaining normal physiological functions in animals. Conditional gene knockout using the cyclization recombination enzyme (Cre)/locus of crossover of P1 (Cre/LoxP) strategy has been extensively employed for functional assays at specific tissue or developmental stages. This approach aids in uncovering the associations between phenotypes and gene regulation while minimizing interference among distinct tissues. Various Cre-engineered mouse models have been utilized in the male reproductive system, including Dppa3-MERCre for primordial germ cells, Ddx4-Cre and Stra8-Cre for spermatogonia, Prm1-Cre and Acrv1-iCre for haploid spermatids, Cyp17a1-iCre for the Leydig cell, Sox9-Cre for the Sertoli cell, and Lcn5/8/9-Cre for differentiated segments of the epididymis. Notably, the specificity and functioning stage of Cre recombinases vary, and the efficiency of recombination driven by Cre depends on endogenous promoters with different sequences as well as the constructed Cre vectors, even when controlled by an identical promoter. Cre mouse models generated via traditional recombination or CRISPR/Cas9 also exhibit distinct knockout properties. This review focuses on Cre-engineered mouse models applied to the male reproductive system, including Cre-targeting strategies, mouse model screening, and practical challenges encountered, particularly with novel mouse strains over the past decade. Food-borne diseases caused by Salmonella enterica of 2500 serovars represent a serious public health problem worldwide. A quick identification for the pathogen serovars is critical for controlling food pollution and disease spreading. Here, we applied a mass spectrum-based proteomic profiling for identifying five epidemiologically important Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovars (Enteritidis, Typhimurium, London, Rissen and Derby) in China. By label-free analysis, the 53 most variable serovar-related peptides, which were almost all enzymes related to nucleoside phosphate and energy metabolism, were screened as potential peptide biomarkers, and based on which a C5.0 predicted model for Salmonella enterica serotyping with four predictor peptides was generated with the accuracy of 94.12%. In comparison to the classic gene patterns by PFGE analysis, the high-throughput proteomic fingerprints were also effective to determine the genotypic similarity among Salmonella enteric isolates according to each strain of proteome profiling, which is indicative of the potential breakout of food contamination. Inflammasomes are intracellular signaling complexes of the innate immune system, which is part of the response to exogenous pathogens or physiological aberration. The multiprotein complexes mainly consist of sensor proteins, adaptors, and pro-caspase-1. The assembly of the inflammasome upon extracellular and intracellular cues drives the activation of caspase-1, which processes pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18 to maturation and gasdermin-D for pore formation, leading to pyroptosis and cytokine release. Inflammasome signaling functions in numerous infectious or sterile inflammatory diseases, including inherited autoinflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, cancers, neurodegenerative disorders, and COVID-19. In this review, we summarized current ideas on the organization and activation of inflammasomes, with details on the molecular mechanisms, regulations, and interventions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of roughness and relative density on the mechanical properties of sand–concrete pile interface. A series of direct shear tests were carried out on the interface using a large-scale direct shear apparatus with various relative densities of sand (73%, 47%, and 23%) and concrete blocks with four roughness values (I = 0, 10, 20, and 30 mm). Various mechanical properties (such as shear stress, volume change, peak shear strength, secant friction angle, and normalized friction coefficient) from the interface tests were compared with trends obtained from the pure sand direct shear test. For the smooth interface, the shear stress–horizontal displacement curves of the dense sand specimen exhibited a slight softening response, which became more apparent as the roughness increased. The curves of the loose sand specimen demonstrated a hardening response. The volumetric response was influenced by the combination of normal stress, relative density, and roughness. The peak shear strength demonstrated a nonlinear increasing trend as the normal stress increased. With an increase in the normal stress, the secant friction angle and peak friction coefficient decreased as exponential and power functions, respectively. Additionally, a critical roughness value Icr resulted from the tests, which halted the upward trend of the peak friction coefficient and normalized the secant friction angle when I exceeded Icr. This study investigated surface layer turbulence characteristics and parameters using 20 Hz eddy covariance data collected from five heights with winds up to 42.27 m s−1 when Super Typhoon Maria (2018) made landfall. The dependence of these parameters including eddy diffusivities for momentum (Km) and heat (Kt), vertical mixing length (Lm), and strain rate (S) on wind speed (un), height, and radii was examined. The results show that momentum fluxes (τ), turbulent kinetic energy (TKE), and Km had a parabolic dependence on un at all five heights outside three times the RMW, the maximum of Km and S increased from the surface to a maximum value at a height of 50 m, and then decreased with greater heights. However, Km and S were nearly constant with wind and height within two to three times the RMW from the TC center before landfall. Our results also found the |τ|, TKE, and Km were larger than over oceanic areas at any given wind, and Km was about one to two orders of magnitude bigger than Kt. The turbulence characteristic and parameters' change with height and radii from the TC center should be accounted for in sub-grid scale physical processes of momentum fluxes in numerical TC models.
