The PTEN-induced kinase 1 (PINK1)-Parkin pathway plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy pool of mitochondria in higher eukaryotic cells. While the downstream components of this pathway are well understood, the upstream triggers remain less explored. In this study, we conducted an extensive analysis of inhibitors targeting various mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC) complexes to investigate their potential as activators of the PINK1–Parkin pathway. We identified cloflucarban, an antibacterial compound, as a novel pathway activator that simultaneously inhibits mitochondrial complexes III and V, and V. RNA interference (RNAi) confirmed that the dual inhibition of these complexes activates the PINK1–Parkin pathway. Intriguingly, we discovered that albumin, specifically bovine serum albumin (BSA) and human serum albumin (HSA) commonly present in culture media, can hinder carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenyl hydrazone (CCCP)-induced pathway activation. However, cloflucarban's efficacy remains unaffected by albumin, highlighting its reliability for studying the PINK1–Parkin pathway. This study provides insights into the activation of the upstream PINK1–Parkin pathway and underscores the influence of culture conditions on research outcomes. Bisphenols are environmental toxins with endocrine disruptor activity, yet bisphenol A (BPA) and its analogs are still widely used in manufacturing plastic products. There is evidence showing that BPA elicits inflammation in humans and animals, but the target cell types of BPA are not well understood. In this study, we sought to determine BPA's direct effect on macrophages and BPA immunotoxicity in mouse intestine. Ghrelin is an important nutrient-sensing hormone, acting through its receptor growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR) to regulate metabolism and inflammation. We found that BPA promotes intestinal inflammation, showing increased infiltrating immune cells in colons and enhanced expression of Ghsr and pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, such as Il6 and Ccl2, in colonic mucosa. Moreover, we found that both long- and short-term BPA exposure elevated pro-inflammatory monocytes and macrophages in mouse peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and peritoneal macrophages (PM), respectively. To determine the role of GHSR in BPA-mediated inflammation, we generated Ghsr deletion mutation in murine macrophage RAW264.7 using CRISPR gene editing. In wild-type RAW264.7 cells, the BPA exposure promotes macrophage pro-inflammatory polarization and increases Ghsr and cytokine/chemokine Il6 and Ccl2 expression. Interestingly, Ghsr deletion mutants showed a marked reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokine/chemokine expression in response to BPA, suggesting that GHSR is required for the BPA-induced pro-inflammatory response. Further understanding how nutrient-sensing GHSR signaling regulates BPA intestinal immunotoxicity will help design new strategies to mitigate BPA immunotoxicity and provide policy guidance for BPA biosafety. Shrinkage greatly influences the mechanical and fatigue properties of compacted graphite iron and it is necessary in order to study the causes of shrinkage in compacted graphite iron and to predict it effectively. In this paper, a kind of cylindrical necking test sample was designed to evaluate the shrinkage in compacted graphite iron, and a method to calculate the size of shrinkage was proposed. By observing the microstructure around the shrinkage zone, it is concluded that concentrated shrinkage mainly appears in the solidification region where the dendritic gap is closed, and the isolated shrinkage mainly occurs in the final solidification region, and the supersaturated carbon elements are gathered on the surface of the shrinkage. The cause of shrinkage in compacted graphite iron is caused by its solidification method, where the austenite dendrites and the eutectic clusters are generated close to the melt zone during the solidification process, leading to the inability to feed the shrinkage. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, the equations between the volume change of each phase, solid phase rate, and time during solidification of compacted graphite iron were established to theoretically explain the formation mechanism of the shrinkage. Taking nine parameters such as the chemical elements and characteristic values of thermal analysis as the input nods, a four-layer BP neural network model for predicting the size of shrinkage in compacted graphite iron was constructed, and the R-squared of the model reached 97%, which indicates it could be used to predict the shrinkage tendency. The dual Z-scheme heterojunction CuBi2O4/Bi2Sn2O7/Sn3O4(CBS) was successfully constructed through in situ growth methods, and its photocatalytic performance was evaluated via degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride under visible light. Out of all samples, CBS-2 exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, with an apparent rate constant of 2.34, 20.16, and 44.17 times that of Bi2Sn2O7, CuBi2O4, and Sn3O4, respectively. Even after four cycles, the photocatalytic efficiency remained above 85%. The improvement can be attributed to the construction of the Z-scheme heterojunction, which effectively promotes the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers. A phase change heat sink has higher heat transfer efficiency compared to a traditional metal solid heat sink, and is thus more preferred for the heat dissipation of high-power light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with very high heat flux. The boiling structure at the evaporation surface is the biggest factor that affects heat sink resistance. It is necessary to investigate the plastic deformation law during the machining process of boiling structures. In this study, a novel phase change radial heat sink was developed for high-power LED heat dissipation. First, a working principle and a fabrication process for the heat sink were introduced. Subsequently, to achieve an excellent heat dissipation performance, the machining process of boiling structures was numerically simulated and investigated. To be specific, plastic deformation generated during the formation was analyzed, and key parameters related to the morphology of the boiling structures were discussed including feeding angles and machining depths. Moreover, the finite element (FE) simulation results were compared with those of experiments. Last but not least, the heat transfer performance of the fabricated heat sink was tested. Niobium diselenide (NbSe2) is a layered transition metal dichalcogenide material which possesses unique electrical and superconducting properties for future nanodevices. While the superconducting, electrical, and bulk thermal transport properties of NbSe2 have been widely studied, the in-plane thermal transport property of NbSe2, which is important for potential thermoelectric applications, has not been thoroughly investigated. In this report, we study the lattice in-plane thermal transport of 2D NbSe2 by solving the phonon Boltzmann transport equation with the help of the first principles calculation. The thermal conductivity obtained at room temperature is 12.3 W/mK. A detailed analysis shows that the transverse acoustic phonon dominates the lattice thermal transport, and an anomalously small portion of electron contribution to the total thermal conductivity is observed for this metallic phase. The results agree well with experimental measurements and provide detailed mode-by-mode thermal conductivity contribution from different phonon modes. This study can provide useful information for integrating NbSe2 in nanodevices where both electrical and thermal properties are critical, showing great potential for integrating monolayer NbSe2 to thermoelectric devices. Magnetic refrigeration is acknowledged as a potential substitute for the conventional vapor-compression refrigeration technology, owing to its high efficiency and environmental friendliness. Existing magnetic refrigeration systems are mostly based on permanent magnets, owing to the characteristics of lower magnetic field intensity, non-uniform magnetic field distribution, and lower operating frequency due to the moving parts, which results in a low cooling capacity and small temperature difference. Thus, this study proposes the application of a pulsed magnetic field, with a high intensity and frequency, to a magnetic refrigeration system to achieve a high performance. A verified numerical model is established to investigate the thermodynamic cycle and cooling performance of an active magnetic regenerator (AMR). The transient and steady-state performances of AMR under pulsed and permanent magnetic fields are compared. The results suggest that an AMR can establish a stable temperature difference under a pulsed magnetic field that is 40 times faster than that under a permanent magnetic field. The maximum steady-state cooling capacity under a pulsed magnetic field is 2.5 times that under a permanent magnetic field when the temperature difference is 20 K. Additionally, the effects of pulsed magnetic field waveforms, frequency, and intensity on the performance of AMR are investigated under various utilization factors. MicroRNA (miRNA) plays essential roles in post-transcriptional regulation of protein coding genes, and the quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) is the powerful and broadly employed tool to conduct studies of miRNA expression. Identifying appropriate references to normalize quantitative data is a prerequisite to ensure the qRT-PCR accuracy. Until now, there has been no report about miRNA reference for qRT-PCR in Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), one important marine cultured fish along the coast of Northern Asia. In this study, combined with miRNA-Seq analysis and literature search, 10 candidates (miR-34a-5p, miR-205-5p, miR-101a-3p, miR-22-3p, miR-23a-3p, miR-210-5p, miR-30c-5p, U6, 5S rRNA, and 18S rRNA) were chosen as potential references to test their expression stability among P. olivaceus tissues, and in livers of P. olivaceus infected with Edwardsiella tarda at different time points. The expression stability of these candidates was analyzed by qRT-PCR and evaluated with Delta CT, BestKeeper, geNorm, as well as NormFinder methods, and RefFinder was employed to estimate the comprehensive ranking according to the four methods. As the result, miR-22-3p and miR-23a-3p were proved to be the suitable combination as reference miRNAs for both P. olivaceus normal tissues and livers infected with E. tarda, and they were successfully applied to normalize miR-7a and miR-221-5p expression in P. olivaceus livers in response to E. tarda infection. Oleic acid (OA) as main component of plant oil is an important solvent but seldom used in the nanocarrier of anticancer drugs because of strong hydrophobicity and little drug release. In order to develop a new type of OA nanomaterial with dual responses to pH and near infrared light (NIR) to achieve the intelligent delivery of anticancer drugs. The novel OA copolymer (mPEG-PEI-(NBS, OA)) was synthesized by grafting OA and o-nitrobenzyl succinate (NBS) onto mPEGylated polyethyleneimine (mPEG-PEI) by amidation reaction. It was further conjugated with NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+ nanoparticles, and encapsulated doxorubicin (DOX) through self-assembly to make upconversion nanomicelles with dual response to pH and NIR. Drug release behavior of DOX, physicochemical characteristics of the nanomicelles were evaluated, along with its cytotoxic profile, as well as the degree of cellular uptake in A549 cells. The encapsulation efficiency and drug loading capacity of DOX in the nanomicelles were 73.84% ± 0.58% and 4.62% ± 0.28%, respectively, and the encapsulated DOX was quickly released in an acidic environment exposed to irradiation at 980 nm. The blank nanomicelles exhibited low cytotoxicity and excellent biocompatibility by MTT assay against A549 cells. The DOX-loaded nanomicelles showed remarkable cytotoxicity to A549 cells under NIR, and promoted the cellular uptake of DOX into the cytoplasm and nucleus of cancer cells. High-resolution geological mapping is an important supporting condition for mineral and energy exploration. However, high-resolution geological mapping work still faces many problems. At present, high-resolution geological mapping is still generated by expert interpretation of survey lines, compasses, and field data. The work in the field is constrained by the weather, terrain, and personnel, and the working methods need to be improved. This paper proposes a new method for high-resolution mapping using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and deep learning algorithms. This method uses the UAV to collect high-resolution remote sensing images, cooperates with some groundwork to anchor the lithology, and then completes most of the mapping work on high-resolution remote sensing images. This method transfers a large amount of field work into the room and provides an automatic mapping process based on the Simple Linear Iterative Clustering-Convolutional Neural Network (SLIC-CNN) algorithm. It uses the convolutional neural network (CNN) to identify the image content and confirms the lithologic distribution, the simple linear iterative cluster (SLIC) algorithm can be used to outline the boundary of the rock mass and determine the contact interface of the rock mass, and the mode and expert decision method is used to clarify the results of the fusion and mapping. The mapping method was applied to the Taili waterfront in Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province, China. In this study, the Area Under the Curve (AUC) of the mapping method was 0.937. The automatic identification of rock type in the field would aid geological surveying, education, and automatic mapping. Deep learning is receiving significant research attention for pattern recognition and machine learning. Its application here has effectively identified rock types from images captured in the field. This paper proposes an accurate approach for identifying rock types in the field based on image analysis using deep convolutional neural networks. The proposed approach can identify six common rock types with an overall classification accuracy of 97.96%, thus outperforming other established deep-learning models and a linear model. The results show that the proposed approach based on deep learning represents an improvement in intelligent rock-type identification and solves several difficulties facing the automated identification of rock types in the field. The arid region of northwest China provides a unique terrestrial ecosystem to identify the response of vegetation activities to natural and anthropogenic changes. To reveal the influences of climate and anthropogenic factors on vegetation, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), climate data, and land use and land cover change (LUCC) maps were used for this study. We analyzed the spatiotemporal change of NDVI during 2000–2015. A partial correlation analysis suggested that the contribution of precipitation (PRE) and temperature (TEM) on 95.43% of observed greening trends was 47% and 20%, respectively. The response of NDVI in the eastern section of the Qilian Mountains (ESQM) and the western section of the Qilian Mountains (WSQM) to PRE and TEM showed opposite trends. The multiple linear regressions used to quantify the contribution of anthropogenic activity on the NDVI trend indicated that the ESQM and oasis areas were mainly affected by anthropogenic activities (26%). The observed browning trend in the ESQM was attributed to excessive consumption of natural resources. A buffer analysis and piecewise regression methods were further applied to explore the influence of urbanization on NDVI and its change rate. The study demonstrated that urbanization destroys the vegetation cover within the developed city areas and extends about 4 km beyond the perimeter of urban areas and the NDVI of buffer cities (counties) in the range of 0–4 km (0–3 km) increased significantly. In the range of 5–15 (4–10) km (except for Jiayuguan), climate factors were the major drivers of a slight downtrend in the NDVI. The relationship of land use change and NDVI trends showed that construction land, urban settlement, and farmland expanded sharply by 171.43%, 60%, and 10.41%, respectively.
