Traditional methods for assessing the cleanliness of liquid metal are characterized by prolonged detection times, delays, and susceptibility to variations in sampling conditions. To address these limitations, an online cleanliness-analyzing system grounded in the method of the electrical sensing zone has been developed. This system facilitates real-time, in situ, and quantitative analysis of inclusion size and amount in liquid metal. Comprising pneumatic, embedded, and host computer modules, the system supports the continuous, online evaluation of metal cleanliness across various metallurgical processes in high-temperature environments. Tests conducted with gallium liquid at 90 °C and aluminum melt at 800 °C have validated the system's ability to precisely and quantitatively detect inclusions in molten metal in real time. The detection procedure is stable and reliable, offering immediate data feedback that effectively captures fluctuations in inclusion amount, thereby meeting the metallurgical industry's demand for real-time analyzing and control of inclusion cleanliness in liquid metal. Additionally, the system was used to analyze inclusion size distribution during the hot-dip galvanizing process. At a zinc melt temperature of 500 °C, it achieved a detection limit of 21 μm, simultaneously providing real-time data on the size and amount distribution of inclusions. Online monitoring and real-time feedback on inclusions in molten metal are essential for metal quality control. However, existing methods for detecting aluminum melt inclusions face challenges, including interference, prolonged processing times, and latency. This paper presents the design and development of an online monitoring system for molten metal inclusions. Initially, the system facilitates real-time adjustment of signal acquisition parameters through a multiplexer. Subsequently, it employs a detection algorithm capable of swiftly extracting pulse peaks, with this task integrated into our proprietary host computer software to ensure timely detection and data visualization. Ultimately, we developed a monitoring device integrated with this online monitoring system, enabling the online monitoring of the aluminum alloy filtration process. Our findings indicate that the system can accurately measure the size and concentration of inclusions during the filtration process in real time, offering enhanced detection speed and stability compared to the industrial LiMCA CM (liquid metal cleanliness analyzer continuous monitoring) standard. Furthermore, our evaluation of the filtration process demonstrates that the effectiveness of filtration significantly improves with the increase in inclusion sizes, and the synergistic effect of combining CFF (ceramic foam filter) and MCF (metallics cartridge filter) filtration methods exceeds the performance of the CFF method alone. Aeolian sand (AS) and recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) can be reasonably utilized as green materials for concrete modification. The paucity of natural sand and gravel in the construction industry is anticipated to be remedied by the use of these two eco-friendly concrete ingredients. This is incredibly important for environmental protection. Study on the damage law of self-compacting concrete with the addition of AS and RCA (ARSCC) under severely cold conditions is of great significance for the promotion and implementation of this material. In this study, 12 groups of ARSCC specimens were prepared for freeze–thaw cycle experiments, with AS substitution rates of 0, 20%, 40%, and 60% as well as RCA replacement rates of 0, 25%, and 50%. Then, the degradation mechanism of ARSCC freeze–thaw damage was discussed from both macroscopic and microscopic perspectives via mass loss rate (Wn), relative dynamic modulus of elasticity (Pn), bubble spacing factor, and SEM analysis. Finally, the response surface method was utilized to determine the damage variable. A freeze–thaw damage model for ARSCC was developed based on the Weibull distribution and Grey theories. The results showed that the Pn could reflect the evolution law of the internal structure of ARSCC. Appropriate addition of AS to fill the large, harmful pores in RCA would inhibit freeze–thaw damage of ARSCC. The optimum substitution rates of AS and RCA were determined to be 20–40% and 25–50%, respectively. In addition, the values obtained from theoretical damage modeling and experiments were in good agreement. The acquired damage model had the potential to predict ARSCC damage under freeze–thaw cycles. Pure marine chemical sediments are archives of geochemical proxies for the composition of seawater and may provide information about the ancient hydrosphere–atmosphere system. The early stage of the Emeishan large igneous province (ELIP) was characterized by the subaqueous eruption of mafic igneous rocks around the J. altudaensis zone of the Capitanian Stage that has been proposed to have contributed to the Guadalupian mass extinction. However, detailed mechanisms and the impact of the eruption on the Guadalupian marine environment have yet to be assessed. Here, to examine the Guadalupian marine environment, we studied major and trace element concentrations, particularly rare earth element and yttrium data, along with high-precision Sr-Nd isotope ratios, of three types of Mn ores (i.e., clastic, massive, and oolitic) and siliceous limestones from the Zunyi Mn deposit in South China formed following the early-stage eruption of the ELIP. Our results indicate that the clastic Mn ores contain notable detrital mafic aluminosilicates. In contrast, the massive and oolitic Mn ores and siliceous limestones preserved the pristine geochemical signatures of the Middle–Late Permian seawater characterized by distinctly low (87Sr/86Sr)i and high εNd(t) values. These data indicate a strong impact of the early-stage submarine eruptions of the ELIP on the marine environment in South China and worldwide, likely through intensive seawater–rock interaction. The R294K mutation in neuraminidase (NA) causes resistance to oseltamivir in the avian influenza virus H7N9. Reverse transcription droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (RT-dd PCR) is a novel technique for detecting single-nucleotide polymorphisms. This study aimed to develop an RT-dd PCR method for detecting the R294K mutation in H7N9. Primers and dual probes were designed using the H7N9 NA gene and the annealing temperature was optimized at 58.0 °C. The sensitivity of our RT-dd PCR method was not significantly different from that of RT-qPCR (p = 0.625), but it could specifically detect R294 and 294K in H7N9. Among 89 clinical samples, 2 showed the R294K mutation. These two strains were evaluated using a neuraminidase inhibition test, which revealed that their sensitivity to oseltamivir was greatly reduced. The sensitivity and specificity of RT-dd PCR were similar to those of RT-qPCR and its accuracy was comparable to that of NGS. The RT-dd PCR method had the advantages of absolute quantitation, eliminating the need for a calibration standard curve, and being simpler in both experimental operation and result interpretation than NGS. Diesel engines have a wide range of functions in the industrial and military fields. An urgent problem to be solved is how to diagnose and identify their faults effectively and timely. In this paper, a diesel engine acoustic fault diagnosis method based on variational modal decomposition mapping Mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) and long-short-term memory network is proposed. Variational mode decomposition (VMD) is used to remove noise from the original signal and differentiate the signal into multiple modes. The sound pressure signals of different modes are mapped to the Mel filter bank in the frequency domain, and then the Mel frequency cepstral coefficients of the respective mode signals are calculated in the mapping range of frequency domain, and the optimized Mel frequency cepstral coefficients are used as the input of long and short time memory network (LSTM) which is trained and verified, and the fault diagnosis model of the diesel engine is obtained. The experimental part compares the fault diagnosis effects of different feature extraction methods, different modal decomposition methods and different classifiers, finally verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper, and providing solutions to the problem of how to realise fault diagnosis using acoustic signals. A vital component that is frequently employed in the industrial powder conveying sector is the fluidized bed. In the light of powder unloading with a fluidized bed as the research object, an orthogonal experiment with two factors and four levels was established for the structural parameters of the fluidized bed. In the case of different noise factors, 16 schemes are designed and all schemes via computational fluid dynamics numerical simulation. The Taguchi method and regression analysis are used to analyze the response. Finally, the accuracy of the optimization results is tested. The results show that gas velocity decreases sharply at the airway's entrance and, then, gas flows to the second half of the airway and velocity decreases steadily and uniformly. Airway arc length L exerts a greater effect on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than airway height H. The parameter combination of 180 mm L and 17 mm H for obtaining the optimal velocity distribution uniformity is determined. The test results indicate that the overall fluidization effect of the fluidized bed with the optimal parameters is better. The positioning of indoor electronic devices is an essential part of human–computer interaction, and the accuracy of positioning affects the level of user experience. Most existing methods for RF-based device localization choose to ignore or remove the impact of multipath effects. However, exploiting the multipath effect caused by the complex indoor environment helps to improve the model's localization accuracy. In response to this question, this paper proposes a multipath-assisted localization (MAL) model based on millimeter-wave radar to achieve the localization of indoor electronic devices. The model fully considers the help of the multipath effect when describing the characteristics of the reflected signal and precisely locates the target position by using the MAL area formed by the reflected signal. At the same time, for the situation where the radar in the traditional Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) mode cannot obtain the 3D spatial position information of the target, the advantage of the MAL model is that the 3D information of the target can be obtained after the mining process of the multipath effect. Furthermore, based on the original hardware, it can achieve a breakthrough in angular resolution. In the ultrasonic welding system, the ultrasonic power supply drives the piezoelectric transducer to work in the resonant state to realize the conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy. In order to obtain stable ultrasonic energy and ensure welding quality, this paper designs a driving power supply based on an improved LC matching network with two functions, frequency tracking and power regulation. First, in order to analyze the dynamic branch of the piezoelectric transducer, we propose an improved LC matching network, in which three voltage RMS values are used to analyze the dynamic branch and discriminate the series resonant frequency. Further, the driving power system is designed using the three RMS voltage values as feedback. A fuzzy control method is used for frequency tracking. The double closed-loop control method of the power outer loop and the current inner loop is used for power regulation. Through MATLAB software simulation and experimental testing, it is verified that the power supply can effectively track the series resonant frequency and control the power while being continuously adjustable. An experimental study was carried out on the ignition characteristics of the HAN/(Emim)(EtSO4) (hydroxylammonium nitrate and 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium ethyl sulfate) dual-mode ionic liquid monopropellant in chemical propulsion mode in model thrusters. Firstly, a model thruster with a detachable convergent nozzle was designed and fabricated. Secondly, catalytic ignition experiments at different flow rates were carried out in atmosphere and in high chamber pressure environment, respectively, using a model thruster, with and without the convergent nozzle. During the catalytic ignition process, measurement methods such as thermocouple, pressure sensor, and flue gas analyzer were employed to obtain the temperature at different depths of the catalytic bed, the pressure of the combustion chamber, and the concentration variations of gaseous products CO, CO2, CH4, SO2, NO, and NO2. Then the three characteristic stages of water evaporation, HAN decomposition, and (Emim)(EtSO4) combustion were analyzed at the initiation time, and the reaction characteristics in the process of the catalytic ignition were analyzed. In addition, the composition and concentration of the combustion products at equilibrium were theoretically calculated. The effects of temperature and pressure on the concentrations of five main gaseous products were studied. Finally, the exhaust gas of the three groups of catalytic ignition experiments under different pressure environments was separately collected and measured with gas chromatography (GC) when the experiments approached equilibrium, the result of which roughly agrees with the theoretical calculations. These results are of great significance for exploring the chemical propulsion of the dual-mode ionic liquid propellant and understanding its physical catalytic combustion mechanisms. Previously conducted studies have established that surface subsidence is typically avoided by filling coal mined-out areas with solid waste. Backfilling hydraulic supports are critically important devices in solid backfill mining, whose operating performance can directly affect backfill mining efficiency. To accurately evaluate the operating performance, this paper proposes hybrid machine learning models for the operating states. An analysis of the factors that influence operating performance provides eight indices for evaluating backfilling hydraulic supports. Based on the data obtained from the Creo simulation model and field measurement, six hybrid models were constructed by combining swarm intelligent algorithms and support vector machines (SVM). Models of the SVM optimized by the modified sparrow search algorithm have shown improved convergence performance. The results show that the modified model has a prediction accuracy of 95.52%. C2H2 zinc finger proteins (ZFPs) play important roles in plant development and response to abiotic stresses, and have been studied extensively. However, there are few studies on ZFPs in mangroves and mangrove associates, which represent a unique plant community with robust stress tolerance. MpZFP1, which is highly induced by salt stress in the mangrove associate Millettia pinnata, was cloned and functionally characterized in this study. MpZFP1 protein contains two zinc finger domains with conserved QALGGH motifs and targets to the nucleus. The heterologous expression of MpZFP1 in Arabidopsis increased the seeds' germination rate, seedling survival rate, and biomass accumulation under salt stress. The transgenic plants also increased the expression of stress-responsive genes, including RD22 and RD29A, and reduced the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). These results indicate that MpZFP1 is a positive regulator of plant responses to salt stress due to its activation of gene expression and efficient scavenging of ROS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Smart sensors, coupled with artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled remote automated monitoring (RAMs), can free a nurse from the task of in-person patient monitoring during the transportation process of patients between different wards in hospital settings. Automation of hospital beds using advanced robotics and sensors has been a growing trend exacerbated by the COVID crisis. In this exploratory study, a polynomial regression (PR) machine learning (ML) RAM algorithm based on a Dreyfusian descriptor for immediate wellbeing monitoring was proposed for the autonomous hospital bed transport (AHBT) application. This method was preferred over several other AI algorithm for its simplicity and quick computation. The algorithm quantified historical data using supervised photoplethysmography (PPG) data for 5 min just before the start of the autonomous journey, referred as pre-journey (PJ) dataset. During the transport process, the algorithm continued to quantify immediate measurements using non-overlapping sets of 30 PPG waveforms, referred as in-journey (IJ) dataset. In combination, this algorithm provided a binary decision condition that determined if AHBT should continue its journey to destination by checking the degree of polynomial (DoP) between PJ and IJ. Wrist PPG was used as algorithm's monitoring parameter. PPG data was collected simultaneously from both wrists of 35 subjects, aged 21 and above in postures mimicking that in AHBT and were given full freedom of upper limb and wrist movement. It was observed that the top goodness-of-fit which indicated potentials for high data accountability had 0.2 to 0.6 cross validation score mean (CVSM) occurring at 8th to 10th DoP for PJ datasets and 0.967 to 0.994 CVSM at 9th to 10th DoP for IJ datasets. CVSM was a reliable metric to pick out the best PJ and IJ DoPs. Central tendency analysis showed that coinciding DoP distributions between PJ and IJ datasets, peaking at 8th DoP, was the precursor to high algorithm stability. Mean algorithm efficacy was 0.20 as our proposed algorithm was able to pick out all signals from a conscious subject having full freedom of movement. Infection by the human noroviruses (hNoV), for the vast majority of strains, requires attachment of the viral capsid to histo blood group antigens (HBGAs). The HBGA-binding pocket is formed by dimers of the protruding domain (P dimers) of the capsid protein VP1. Several studies have focused on HBGA binding to P dimers, reporting binding affinities and stoichiometries. However, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and native mass spectrometry (MS) analyses yielded incongruent dissociation constants (KD) for the binding of HBGAs to P dimers and, in some cases, disagreed on whether glycans bind at all. We hypothesized that glycan clustering during electrospray ionization in native MS critically depends on the physicochemical properties of the protein studied. It follows that the choice of a reference protein is crucial. We analysed carbohydrate clustering using various P dimers and eight non-glycan binding proteins serving as possible references. Data from native and ion mobility MS indicate that the mass fraction of β-sheets has a strong influence on the degree of glycan clustering. Noroviruses are the major cause of viral gastroenteritis and re-emerge worldwide every year, with GII.4 currently being the most frequent human genotype. The norovirus capsid protein VP1 is essential for host immune response. The P domain mediates cell attachment via histo blood-group antigens (HBGAs) in a strain-dependent manner but how these glycan-interactions actually relate to cell entry remains unclear. Here, hydrogen/deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) is used to investigate glycan-induced protein dynamics in P dimers of different strains, which exhibit high structural similarity but different prevalence in humans. While the almost identical strains GII.4 Saga and GII.4 MI001 share glycan-induced dynamics, the dynamics differ in the emerging GII.17 Kawasaki 308 and rare GII.10 Vietnam 026 strain. The structural aspects of glycan binding to fully deamidated GII.4 P dimers have been investigated before. However, considering the high specificity and half-life of N373D under physiological conditions, large fractions of partially deamidated virions with potentially altered dynamics in their P domains are likely to occur. Therefore, we also examined glycan binding to partially deamidated GII.4 Saga and GII.4 MI001 P dimers. Such mixed species exhibit increased exposure to solvent in the P dimer upon glycan binding as opposed to pure wildtype. Furthermore, deamidated P dimers display increased flexibility and a monomeric subpopulation. Our results indicate that glycan binding induces strain-dependent structural dynamics, which are further altered by N373 deamidation, and hence hint at a complex role of deamidation in modulating glycan-mediated cell attachment in GII.4 strains. To address the most significant environmental challenges, the quest for high-performance gas sensing materials is crucial. Among numerous two-dimensional materials, this study investigates the gas-sensitive capabilities of monolayer As, Sb, and Bi materials. To compare the gas detection abilities of these three materials, we employ first-principles calculations to comprehensively study the adsorption behavior of NO and NO2 gas molecules on the material surfaces. The results indicate that monolayer Bi material exhibits reasonable adsorption distances, substantial adsorption energies, and significant charge transfer for both NO and NO2 gases. Therefore, among the materials studied, it demonstrates the best gas detection capability. Furthermore, monolayer As and Sb materials exhibit remarkably high capacities for adsorbing NO and NO2 gas molecules, firmly interacting with the gas molecules. Material-scale tests involving milligrams of samples are used to optimize fire-retardant coating formulations, but actual applications of these coatings require them to be assessed with structural-scale fire tests. This significant difference in the scale of testing (milligrams to kilograms of sample) raises many questions on the relations between the inherent flammability and thermal characteristics of the coating materials and their "performance" at the structural scale. Moreover, the expected "performance" requirements and the definition of "performance" varies at different scales. In this regard, the pathway is not established when designing and formulating fire-retardant coatings for structural steel sections or members. This manuscript explores the fundamental relationships across different scales of testing with the help of a fire-protective system based on acrylic resin with a typical combination of intumescent additives, viz. ammonium polyphosphate, pentaerythritol, and expandable graphite. One of the main outcomes of this work dictates that higher heat release rate values and larger amounts of material participating in the pyrolysis process per unit time will result in a rapid rise in steel substrate temperature. Six new zinc(II) complexes were prepared by the reaction of ZnBr2 or ZnI2 with 4′-(substituted-phenyl)-2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine compounds, bearing p-methylsulfonyl (L1), p-methoxy (L2) and p-methyl (L3), which were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The antiproliferative properties against Eca-109, A549 and Bel-7402 cell lines and the cytotoxicity test on RAW-264.7 of these compounds were monitored using a CCK-8 assay, and the studies indicate that the complexes show higher antiproliferative activities than cisplatin. The interactions of these complexes with CT-DNA and proteins (BSA) were studied by UV-Vis, circular dichroism (CD) and fluorescent spectroscopy, respectively. The results indicate that the interaction of these zinc(II) complexes with CT-DNA is achieved through intercalative binding, and their strong binding affinity to BSA is fulfilled through a static quenching mechanism. The simulation of the complexes with the CT-DNA fragment and BSA was studied by using molecular docking software. Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a nephrotoxic mycotoxin, which deserves particular attention for its widespread contamination of a variety of food and feed. Aspergillus ochraceus, Aspergillus carbonarius, and Penicillium nordicum are an important source of OTA in three different kinds of food commodities, including cereals, grape and dried fruit products, and dry-cured meat products. Deeper knowledge of OTA production and mycelium growth related to the high-sugar or NaCl-rich environments was gained in this manuscript. A. ochraceus and P. nordicum were likely to have greater growth rates in medium supplied with certain concentrations of NaCl (0–80 g/L), and the colony diameter was the largest at the salt content of 40 g/L. P. nordicum was more suitable to grow in NaCl-riched medium, the OTA production was increased to 316 ppb from 77 ppb when 20 g/L NaCl was added. The capability of OTA production was inhibited when salt content was 40 g/L and 60 g/L in A. ochraceus and P. nordicum, respectively. As the glucose content increased to 250 g/L, the capacity of mycelium growth and sporulation was increased significantly in A. ochraceus and A. carbonarius. A. carbonarius was more suitable to grow in high-sugar grape products. OTA production was significantly promoted with an added 100 g/L glucose in A. carbonarius. OTA production was inhibited when glucose content was 150 g/L and in 200 g/L in A. ochraceus and A. carbonarius, respectively. NaCl and glucose have an effect on fungal growth and OTA production, and the activation of biosynthetic genes of OtaA. These results would allow designing new strategies to prevent OTA accumulation on sugar or NaCl-riched foodstuffs and achieve the objective to manufacture cereals, dried vine fruits and dry-cured ham, free of OTA. Multiphase drives are entering the spotlight of the research community for transportation applications with their high power density and the possibility of high fault tolerance. The multi three-phase drive is one of the main types of multiphase drives that allows for the direct adoption of commercial three-phase converters and high control flexibility. The elimination of high-frequency current harmonics will reduce the flux linkage harmonics, torque ripple, vibration and noise in machine drives. Therefore, this work introduces a new method to the modelling of equivalent phase current in multi three-phase drives with the double integral Fourier analysis method. A new carrier-based pulse-width modulation (CPWM) method is introduced to reduce the equivalent phase current harmonics by applying proper carrier phase angle to each subsystem in the multi three-phase drives. The proposed angles of carrier signals are analyzed for quadruple three-phase drives, and the corresponding experimental results confirm the significance of the proposed phase-shifted CPWM method to eliminate the equivalent phase current harmonics. In the process of rehabilitation training for stroke patients, the rehabilitation effect is positively affected by how much physical activity the patients take part in. Most of the signals used to measure the patients' participation are EMG signals or oxygen consumption, which increase the cost and the complexity of the robotic device. In this work, we design a multi-sensor system robot with torque and six-dimensional force sensors to gauge the patients' participation in training. By establishing the static equation of the mechanical leg, the man–machine interaction force of the patient can be accurately extracted. Using the impedance model, the auxiliary force training mode is established, and the difficulty of the target task is changed by adjusting the K value of auxiliary force. Participation models with three intensities were developed offline using support vector machines, for which the C and σ parameters are optimized by the hybrid quantum particle swarm optimization and support vector machines (Hybrid QPSO-SVM) algorithm. An experimental statistical analysis was conducted on ten volunteers' motion representation in different training tasks, which are divided into three stages: over-challenge, challenge, less challenge, by choosing characteristic quantities with significant differences among the various difficulty task stages, as a training set for the support vector machines (SVM). Experimental results from 12 volunteers, with tasks conducted on the lower limb rehabilitation robot LLR-II show that the rehabilitation robot can accurately predict patient participation and training task difficulty. A novel Eu(tta)3([4,4′-(t-bu)2-2,2′-bpy)] complex (tta-thenoyltrifluoroacetone), a ratiometric luminescent-based optical sensor for the quantitative determination of aluminum ion, is synthesized and characterized using XRD and 1H NMR. The XRD data reveal the slightly distorted octahedral structure. The complex displays a bright red emission at 613 nm in methanol which is characteristic of europium (III) complexes. Upon the addition of Al3+ ions, the red emission disappears, and a new blue emission at 398 nm emerges, manifesting the ratiometric nature of the complex. The turn-off of the red emission and turn-on of the blue emission are attributed to Eu-Al trans-metalation, as supported by Raman data that show the emergence of Al-O vibrations at 418, 495, and 608 cm−1 concomitant with the disappearance of Eu-O and Eu-N bond vibrations. Most aluminum sensors are known to suffer from interferences from other metals including Cu2+, Co2+, and Cd2+. However, the sensor reported here is tested for 11 common cations and shows no interference on sensitivity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first known Eu-based luminescence sensor that successfully exhibited the ability to detect aluminum ions in ppb levels in aqueous environments. The calculated Al3+ binding constant is 2.496 × 103 ± 172. The complex shows a linear relationship in the range of 0–47.6 ppb (1.76 × 10−6 M) Al3+ and the limit of detection (LOD) is 4.79 ppb (1.77 × 10−7 M) in MeOH. ICP-OES is used for validation of the sensor complex in water and then it was used for quantitative detection of Al3+ ions in water as a real-life application. The complex can accurately detect Al3+ ions in the range of 4.97–24.9 ppb (1.84 × 10−7 M–9.2 × 10−7 M) with an LOD of 8.11 ppb (2.99 × 10−7 M). Considering that the aluminum ion serves no recognized function within the human body, its accumulation can lead to severe neurological disorders, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. With the LOD value significantly lower than the WHO-recommended maximum permissible level of 200 ppb for aluminum in drinking water, even without high-power laser-aided signal enhancement, the sensor shows promise for detecting trace amounts of aluminum contamination in water. Inspired by periodically aligned micro/nanostructures on biological surfaces, researchers have been fabricating biomimetic structures with superior performance. As a promising and versatile tool, an ultrafast laser combined with other forms of processing technology has been utilized to manufacture functional structures, e.g., the biomimetic subwavelength structures to restrain the surface Fresnel reflectance. In this review paper, we interpret the biomimetic mechanism of antireflective subwavelength structures (ARSSs) for high-transmission windows. Recent advances in the fabrication of ARSSs with an ultrafast laser are summarized and introduced. Aspergillus westerdijkiae, known as the major ochratoxin A (OTA) producer, usually occurs on agricultural crops, fruits, and dry-cured meats. Microorganisms produce OTA to adapt to the high osmotic pressure environment that is generated during food processing and storage. To investigate the relationship between OTA biosynthesis and the high osmolarity glycerol (HOG) pathway, the transcription factor AwHog1 gene in A. westerdijkiae was functionally characterised by means of a loss-of-function mutant. Our findings demonstrated that the growth and OTA production of a mutant lacking AwHog1 decreased significantly and was more sensitive to high osmotic media. The ΔAwHog1 mutant displayed a lower growth rate and a 73.16% reduction in OTA production in the wheat medium compared to the wild type. After three days of culture, the growth rate of the ΔAwHog1 mutant in medium with 60 g/L NaCl and 150 g/L glucose was slowed down 19.57% and 13.21%, respectively. Additionally, the expression of OTA biosynthesis genes was significantly reduced by the deletion of the AwHog1 gene. The infection ability of the ΔAwHog1 mutant was decreased, and the scab diameter of the pear was 6% smaller than that of the wild type. There is a huge amount of solid waste generated in coal resource exploitation and utilization, leading to effects on the environment and hindering sustainable development. Aiming at the difficulty of disposal of coal-based solid waste from high-yield, high-efficiency mines, this research proposed a technique of gangue grouting filling in subsequent space (GGFSS) for coal mining and explored the movement of key strata backfilled using GGFSS technique and surface deformation characteristics using theoretical analysis and a field measurement method. The results indicate that the equivalent backfilled ratio (EBR) when using GGFSS is defined as the ratio of the grouting volume to available void volume, which is mainly affected by bed separation void volume, grouting volume, and the void volume of the caving zone. Using an EBR ground control mechanical model, the changes in the displacement and bending moment of key strata with the variation of the EBR were investigated. The critical EBR for the rupture of key strata was determined to be 74.44%. On this basis, the calculation methods of equivalent mining height (EMH) and the subsidence factor of GGFSS were proposed and then a surface deformation prediction model of GGFSS was established based on the principle of the probability integration method. The predictions implied that, at an EBR greater than 75%, the surface deformation could be significantly reduced. Engineering applications verified the effect of GGFSS on the control of ground movement. In-situ measurements of concentration, density, and particle size of the filling body were all close to the those designed values: the GGFSS technique shows longer grouting duration and a larger amount of grouting and its filling body can support impervious key strata above the working face in a mine, significantly decreasing surface subsidence. Speech reflects people's mental state and using a microphone sensor is a potential method for human–computer interaction. Speech recognition using this sensor is conducive to the diagnosis of mental illnesses. The gender difference of speakers affects the process of speech emotion recognition based on specific acoustic features, resulting in the decline of emotion recognition accuracy. Therefore, we believe that the accuracy of speech emotion recognition can be effectively improved by selecting different features of speech for emotion recognition based on the speech representations of different genders. In this paper, we propose a speech emotion recognition method based on gender classification. First, we use MLP to classify the original speech by gender. Second, based on the different acoustic features of male and female speech, we analyze the influence weights of multiple speech emotion features in male and female speech, and establish the optimal feature sets for male and female emotion recognition, respectively. Finally, we train and test CNN and BiLSTM, respectively, by using the male and the female speech emotion feature sets. With the increasing popularity of smart devices, users can control their mobile phones, TVs, cars, and smart furniture by using voice assistants, but voice assistants are susceptible to intrusion by outsider speakers or playback attacks. In order to address this security issue, a millimeter-wave radar-based voice security authentication system is proposed in this paper. First, the speaker's fine-grained vocal cord vibration signal is extracted by eliminating static object clutter and motion effects; second, the weighted Mel Frequency Cepstrum Coefficients (MFCCs) are obtained as biometric features; and finally, text-independent security authentication is performed by the WMHS (Weighted MFCCs and Hog-based SVM) method. This system is highly adaptable and can authenticate designated speakers, resist intrusion by other unspecified speakers as well as playback attacks, and is secure for smart devices. Algebraic persistent fault analysis (APFA), which combines algebraic analysis with persistent fault attacks, brings new challenges to the security of lightweight block ciphers and has received widespread attention since its introduction. Threshold Implementation (TI) is one of the most widely used countermeasures for side channel attacks. Inspired by this method, the SKINNY block cipher adopts the S_box decomposition to reduce the number of variables in the set of algebraic equations and the number of Conjunctive Normal Form (CNF) equations in this paper, thus speeding up the algebraic persistent fault analysis and reducing the number of fault ciphertexts. In our study, we firstly establish algebraic equations for full-round faulty encryption, and then analyze the relationship between the number of fault ciphertexts required and the solving time in different scenarios (decomposed S_boxes and original S_box). By comparing the two sets of experimental results, the success rate and the efficiency of the attack are greatly improved by using S_box decomposition. In this paper, We can recover the master key in a minimum of 2000s using 11 pairs of plaintext and fault ciphertext, while the key recovery cannot be done in effective time using the original S_box expression equations. At the same time, we apply S_box decomposition to another kind of algebraic persistent fault analysis, and the experimental results show that using S_box decomposition can effectively reduce the solving time and solving success rate under the same conditions. The SiCf/SiC composite manufactured by chemical vapour infiltration (CVI) is a kind of porous material. Liquid molten salt in a Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) may enter into the porous composites and affect their performance. Through the study of the internal pores in the material, the permeability behaviour of the material can be investigated, which is of great significance to the analysis of the properties of the material itself. However, there is less investigation on effects of molten salt infiltration on the internal pore structure of SiCf/SiC composites. In this paper, a molten salt infiltration experiment of 2D woven SiCf/SiC composites was implemented at 650 °C, 3 atm. SEM, CT and XRD were used to characterize it. The results indicated that the microstructure could be affected by partial molten salt infiltration and temperature change. Evodiamine (EVO) and rutaecarpine (RUT) are the main active compounds of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Evodia rutaecarpa. Here, we fully optimized the molecular geometries of EVO and RUT at the B3LYP/6-311++G (d, p) level of density functional theory. The natural population analysis (NPA) charges, frontier molecular orbitals, molecular electrostatic potentials, and the chemical reactivity descriptors for EVO and RUT were also investigated. Furthermore, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and the analysis of the binding free energies of EVO and RUT were carried out against the anticancer target topoisomerase 1 (TOP1) to clarify their anticancer mechanisms. The docking results indicated that they could inhibit TOP1 by intercalating into the cleaved DNA-binding site to form a TOP1–DNA–ligand ternary complex, suggesting that they may be potential TOP1 inhibitors. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations evaluated the binding stability of the TOP1–DNA–ligand ternary complex. The calculation of binding free energy showed that the binding ability of EVO with TOP1 was stronger than that of RUT. These results elucidated the structure–activity relationship and the antitumor mechanism of EVO and RUT at the molecular level. The cytoplasmic male sterility/restorer-of-fertility (CMS/Rf) system plays a vital role in high-efficiency hybrid seed production in crops, including soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). The markers linked to fertility restoration and the restorer-of-fertility (Rf) genes are essential because they can facilitate the breeding of new CMS lines and production of commercial hybrid soybean seeds. To date, several soybean Rf genes have been mapped to various genetic loci in diverse genetic populations. However, the mapping range of restorer genes remains narrow, with relatively limited practical applicability. Therefore, in the present study, F2 and F3 segregating populations derived from the CMS line JLCMS5A crossed with the restorer line JLR2 were developed and used for Rf3 gene fine mapping. Genetic investigation indicated that the restorer line JLR2 was controlled by a single dominant gene, Rf3. By integrating bulk-segregant analysis and next-generation sequencing, a 4 Mb region on chromosome 9 was identified, which was most likely the target region harboring the candidate gene responsible for fertility restoration. This region was further narrowed down to 86.44 Kb via fine mapping in F2 and F3 populations using SSR, InDel, and dCAPS markers. This region contained 10 putative genes (Glyma.09G171100–Glyma.09G172000). Finally, Glyma.09G171200, which encodes a mitochondria-targeted pentatricopeptide repeat protein, was proposed as the potential candidate for Rf3 using sequence alignment and expression analysis in restorer and CMS lines. Based on single-nucleotide polymorphisms in Glyma.09G171200, a CAPS marker co-segregated with Rf3 named CAPS1712 was developed. The catalytic deoxygenation mechanism of fatty acid esters on a Lewis acid site of ZSM-5 zeolite was elucidated via density functional theory (DFT) by using a methyl butyrate (MB) as the model compound for fatty acid esters. The configurations of the initial reactant, transition states, and products together with the activation barrier of each elementary reaction were determined. The activation barrier of different initial cracking reactions decreases in the order of α-C–C > β-C–C > α-C–O > β-C–O. The best reaction path for catalytic deoxygenation of methyl butyrate over Lewis acid site is CH3CH2CH2C(OCH3)=O⋯Lewis → CH3CH2⋯Lewis⋯C(=CH2)OCH3 → CH2=CH2 + CH3COOCH3 + Lewis. The oxygen of methyl butyrate is mainly removed as CO2, methyl acetate, formaldehyde, and butyraldehyde, while ethylene, propylene, and butane are the main hydrocarbon products. In addition, the group generated by cracking of methyl butyrate form a bond with the Lewis acid site, promoting the transformation between a Lewis acid and a Brønsted acid. The corresponding intermediates have a high single point energy, but the poor stability leads to further deoxygenation and cracking reactions. Hydraulic fracturing is a widely used production stimulation technology for conventional and unconventional reservoirs. The cohesive element is used to explain the tip fracture process. In this paper, the cohesive zone model was used to simulate hydraulic fracture initiation and propagation at the same time rock deformation and fluid exchange. A numerical model for fracture propagation in poro-viscoelastic formation is considered. In this numerical model, we incorporate the pore-pressure effect by coupling fluid diffusion with shale matrix viscoelasticity. The numerical procedure for hydraulically driven fracture propagation uses a poro-viscoelasticity theory to describe the fluid diffusion and matrix creep in the solid skeleton, in conjunction with pore-pressure cohesive zone model and ABAQUS was used as a platform for the numerical simulation. The simulation results are compared with the available solutions in the literature. The higher the approaching angle, the higher the differential stress, tensile stress difference, injection rate, and injection fluid viscosity, and it will be easier for hydraulic fracture crossing natural fracture. These results could provide theoretical guidance for predicting the generation of fracture network and gain a better understanding of deformational behavior of shale when fracturing. Gas–liquid flow in a pipeline is a very common. Slug two-phase flow is dominated in the case of slightly upward flow (+0.25°) and considered to be the comprehensive flow configuration, and can be in close contact with all the other flow patterns. The models of different flow patterns can be unified. Precise prediction of the slug flow is crucial for proper design and operation. In this paper, we develop hydrodynamics unified modeling for gas–liquid two-phase slug flow, and the bubble and droplet entrainment is optimized. For the important parameters (wall and interfacial friction factors, slug translational velocity and average slug length), the correlations of these parameters are optimized. Furthermore, the related parameters for liquid droplet and gas bubble entrainment are given. Accounting for the gas–liquid interface shape, hydrodynamics models, i.e., the flat interface model (FIM) and the double interface model (DIM), of liquid film in the slug body are applied and compared with the experimental data. The calculated results show that the predictions for the liquid holdup and pressure gradient of the DIM agree with experimental data better than those of the FIM. A comparison between the available experimental results and Zhang's model calculations shows that the DIM model correctly describes the slug dynamics in gas–liquid pipe flow. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to achieve the dual needs of single-phase vibration reduction and lightweight, a square honeycomb acoustic metamaterials with local resonant Archimedean spirals (SHAMLRAS) is proposed. The independent geometry parameters of SHAMLRAS structures are acquired by changing the spiral control equation. The mechanism of low-frequency bandgap generation and the directional attenuation mechanism of in-plane elastic waves are both explored through mode shapes, dispersion surfaces, and group velocities. Meanwhile, the effect of the spiral arrangement and the adjustment of the equation parameters on the width and position of the low-frequency bandgap are discussed separately. In addition, a rational period design of the SHAMLRAS plate structure is used to analyze the filtering performance with transmission loss experiments and numerical simulations. The results show that the design of acoustic metamaterials with multiple Archimedean spirals has good local resonance properties, and forms multiple low-frequency bandgaps below 500 Hz by reasonable parameter control. The spectrograms calculated from the excitation and response data of acceleration sensors are found to be in good agreement with the band structure. Wax precipitation and deposition are serious flow assurance problems. Wax precipitation is investigated simultaneously using centrifugation and high-temperature gas chromatography (C-HTGC) to obtain the amount and component distribution of precipitated wax in artificial waxy oil and diesel at different temperatures. However, the conventional C-HTGC method gives upper measurements of the amount of precipitated wax, as it ignores wax dissolved in crude oil in the centrifugal cake. A modified C-HTGC method was developed to obtain the precipitated solid fraction of crude oil, based on the mass balances of the non-crystallized fraction of the centrifuged cake. The weight, percent and carbon number distribution of precipitated solid wax crystals at different temperatures of artificial oil and 0# diesel were obtained. It was found that wax precipitation characteristics are affected by many factors, including the carbon number distribution of the oil, the sensitivity of alkane crystallization to temperature and the temperature of the waxy oil solution. The average carbon number of alkanes in precipitated wax crystals decreases with the decrease in temperature. The distribution of alkanes in solid wax crystals is roughly the same as that in 0# diesel but slightly heavier than in diesel. Through bioassay-guided fractionation of the extracts from the aerial parts of the Chinese herb Hypericum japonicum Thunb. Murray, Isojacareubin (ISJ) was characterized as a potent antibacterial compound against the clinical methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The broth microdilution assay was used to determine the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and minimal bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) of ISJ alone. The results showed that its MICs/MBCs ranged from 4/16 to 16/64 µg/mL, with the concentrations required to inhibit or kill 50% of the strains (MIC50/MBC50) at 8/16 µg/mL. Synergistic evaluations of this compound with four conventional antibacterial agents representing different types were performed by the chequerboard and time-kill tests. The chequerboard method showed significant synergy effects when ISJ was combined with Ceftazidime (CAZ), Levofloxacin (LEV) and Ampicillin (AMP), with the values of 50% of the fractional inhibitory concentration indices (FICI50) at 0.25, 0.37 and 0.37, respectively. Combined bactericidal activities were also observed in the time-kill dynamic assay. The results showed the ability of ISJ to reduce MRSA viable counts by log10CFU/mL at 24 h of incubation at a concentration of 1 × MIC were 1.5 (LEV, additivity), 0.92 (CAZ, indifference) and 0.82 (AMP, indifference), respectively. These in vitro anti-MRSA activities of ISJ alone and its synergy with conventional antibacterial agents demonstrated that ISJ enhanced their efficacy, which is of potential use for single and combinatory therapy of patients infected with MRSA. The antibacterial activity of 80% ethanol extracts of 10 medicinal plants collected in Yunnan (Southwest China), was tested against clinical isolates of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing strains. Their MIC values ranged between 1.56-12.50 mg/mL. The most active plant extract was Chelidonium majus L. (MIC = 1.56 mg/mL). Two potent isoquinoline alkaloids, 8-hydroxydihydrosanguinarine and 8-hydroxydihydrochelerythrine, were identified as the major active principles through bioassay-guided fractionation and identification of the active ethyl acetate fraction from C. majus, with minimum MIC/MBC values of 15.63/62.50 μg/mL. Photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen production via heterojunction provides a convenient approach to solve the world crises of energy supply. Herein, graphene quantum dots modified TiO2 hybrids (TiO2-GQDs) with a "caterpillar"-like structure exhibit stronger light absorption in the visible region and an enhanced hydrogen production capacity of about 3.5-fold compared to the pristine TiO2 caterpillar. These results inferred that the addition of GQDs drastically promotes the interfacial electron transfer from GQDs to TiO2 through C–O–Ti bonds via the bonding between oxygen vacancy sites in TiO2 and in-plane oxygen functional groups in GQDs. Dry-cured meat products are worldwide food with high-salt content, and filamentous fungi are beneficial to the maturation process. However, some salt-tolerant strains of Aspergillus and Penicillium produce ochratoxin A (OTA) on these products and thus threaten food safety. In our study, proteomic analysis was performed to reveal the mechanism of adaptability to high-salt environment by Aspergillus ochraceus. Twenty g/L and 70 g/L NaCl substrates were used to provide medium- and high-NaCl content environments, respectively. The NaCl addition could induce fungal growth, but only 20 g/L NaCl addition could induce spore production while 70 g/L repressed it. Proteomics analysis identified 2646 proteins in A. ochraceus fc-1, of which 237 and 251 were differentially expressed with 20 g/L and 70 g/L NaCl addition, respectively. Potential factors affecting fungal growth and development were identified by GO and KEGG analyses of biological process, cellular component, and molecular function terms. The results revealed that ergosterol synthesis pathway was significantly upregulated with 20 g/L and 70 g/L NaCl addition. However, fungal growth and development including OTA production were complex processes associated with many factors including nutrient uptake, cell membrane integrity, cell cycle, energy metabolism, intracellular redox homeostasis, protein synthesis and processing, autophagy, and secondary metabolism. Reactive oxygen species may be an important window to understand the mechanism that medium-salt content was conducive to intracellular signal transduction while high-salt content caused oxidative stress. Bio-based unsaturated poly(butylene adipate-co-butylene itaconate) (PBABI) aliphatic copolyesters were synthesized with pentaerythritol (PE) as a modifier, observing the melting point, crystallization, and glass transition temperatures were decreased from 59.5 to 19.5 °C and 28.2 to −9.1 °C as an increase of itaconate concentration, and Tg ranged from −54.6 to −48.1 °C. PBABI copolyesters tend to the amorphous state by the existence of the BI unit above 40 mol%. The yield strength, elongation, and Young's modulus at different BA/BI ratios were valued in a range of 13.2–13.8 MPa, 575.2–838.5%, and 65.1–83.8 MPa, respectively. Shear-thinning behavior was obtained in all BA/BI ratios of PBABI copolyesters around an angular frequency range of 20–30 rad s−1. Furthermore, the thermal and mechanical properties of PBABI copolyesters can be well regulated via controlling the itaconic acid contents and adding the modifier. This paper describes the steps involved in obtaining a set of relevant data sources and the accompanying method using software-based sensors to detect anomalous behavior in modern smartphones based on machine-learning classifiers. Three classes of models are investigated for classification: logistic regressions, shallow neural nets, and support vector machines. The paper details the design, implementation, and comparative evaluation of all three classes. If necessary, the approach could be extended to other computing devices, if appropriate changes were made to the software infrastructure, based upon mandatory capabilities of the underlying hardware. Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs), novel 1D natural materials with a unique tubular nanostructure, large aspect ratio, biocompatibility, and high mechanical strength, are promising nanofillers to improve the properties of polymers. In this review, we summarize the recent progress toward the development of polysaccharide-HNTs composites, paying attention to the main existence forms and wastewater treatment application particularly. The purification of HNTs and fabrication of the composites are discussed first. Polysaccharides, such as alginate, chitosan, starch, and cellulose, reinforced with HNTs show improved mechanical, thermal, and swelling properties. In our previous study, a series of ferulic acid (FA) derivatives were designed and synthesized; they exhibited positive anti-cancer activities, especially for a compound labelled FXS-3. In this study, a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay was performed, wherein it revealed the inhibitory effect of FXS-3 on the proliferation and metastasis of human lung cancer A549 cells. The further flow cytometry assay showed that FXS-3 induced apoptosis of A549 cells induced cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase. The trans-well migration and Matrigel invasion assays revealed that FXS-3 inhibited the migration and invasion of A549 cells. By the western blotting analysis, FXS-3 increased the expression of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) associated X protein (Bax)/Bcl-2 ratio, inhibited matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9, and regulated the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)/p38, c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), protein kinase B (AKT)/mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), as well as mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK)/ERK signaling pathways. The subsequent A549 xenograft-bearing mouse model and tail vein injection of A549 cells induced pulmonary tumor metastasis model showed that FXS-3 significantly restrained the tumor growth and metastasis. In conclusion, FXS-3 might inhibit proliferation and metastasis of human lung cancer A549 cells by positively regulating JNK signaling pathway and negativly regulating ERK/p38, AKT/mTOR, and MEK/ERK signaling pathways, which provides important scientific basis for the development of anti-cancer drugs about FA derivatives. In the wild, wireless multimedia sensor network (WMSN) communication has limited bandwidth and the transmission of wildlife monitoring images always suffers signal interference, which is time-consuming, or sometimes even causes failure. Generally, only part of each wildlife image is valuable, therefore, if we could transmit the images according to the importance of the content, the above issues can be avoided. Inspired by the progressive transmission strategy, we propose a hierarchical coding progressive transmission method in this paper, which can transmit the saliency object region (i.e. the animal) and its background with different coding strategies and priorities. Specifically, we firstly construct a convolution neural network via the MobileNet model for the detection of the saliency object region and obtaining the mask on wildlife. Then, according to the importance of wavelet coefficients, set partitioned in hierarchical tree (SPIHT) lossless coding is utilized to transmit the saliency image which ensures the transmission accuracy of the wildlife region. After that, the background region left over is transmitted via the Embedded Zerotree Wavelets (EZW) lossy coding strategy, to improve the transmission efficiency. To verify the efficiency of our algorithm, a demonstration of the transmission of field-captured wildlife images is presented. Further, comparison of results with existing EZW and discrete cosine transform (DCT) algorithms shows that the proposed algorithm improves the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM) by 21.11%, 14.72% and 9.47%, 6.25%, respectively. For investigating perceptual stress characteristics of Functional Cemented Backfilling Materials (FCBM) in coal mines, we prepared functional specimens based on Cemented Backfilling Materials (CBM) with the perceptual stress ability, and clarified their conductive mechanism, perceptual mechanism, and possible engineering applications. Using mechanical tests and the network parallel dynamic method, the mechanical and electrical properties of the prepared materials and the perceptual characteristics under mechanical–electric coupling conditions were analyzed in depth. The test results demonstrate that the deformation of FCBMs obey standard stress–strain rules, while the conductive phase addition can deteriorate their mechanical properties and simultaneously enhance the electrical conductivity of materials. Through fitting, the percolation threshold was determined to be 9.85%. Before the failure, the spatial distribution of the apparent resistivity in the materials was shown to follow the X-shaped radial pattern; after the failure, the material apparent resistivity obeys different distribution rules at various stages. The apparent resistivity of FCBM is negatively correlated with the strain value at the elastic and plastic stages and positively correlated with it at the failure stage. When the graphite content exceeds the percolation threshold, the materials exhibit a favorable perceptual functionality at the elastic stage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
