Macrobrachium rosenbergii is a warm water species, and low temperature is a limiting factor for its growth and survival. In order to explore the role of the acetyl-CoA-carboxylase (ACC) gene in response to the cold stress of M. rosenbergii, we investigated the effects of RNA interference (RNAi) with the ACC gene on the expression of fatty acid metabolism-related genes and the mortality of M. rosenbergii under cold stress. The results showed that different siRNA sequences and different injection concentrations had different inhibiting effects on ACC gene expression, and siRNA-III with an injection concentration of 2.0 μg/g (siRNA/prawn body weight) had the best interference effect. With the optimal siRNA and the optimal concentration under cold stress, the expressions of three fatty acid metabolism-related genes, FabD, echA, and ACOT, were generally significantly down-regulated. Compared to negative (scrambled-siRNA) and blank (PBS) control groups, the expression of FabD in the interference group was extremely significantly down-regulated at 12 h in the hepatopancreas and at 18 h in the muscles and gills; EchA was highly significantly down-regulated at 6 and 12 h in the muscles and gills; and ACOT was extremely significantly down-regulated and kept declining in the gills. Within 6–18 h after injection under cold stress, the mortality rate of the siRNA interference group (75%) was much lower than that of the negative (95%) or blank control group (97.5%), and all prawns died after 24 h. In conclusion, RNA interference with the ACC gene inhibited the expression of some fatty acid metabolism-related genes, and could partly improve the tolerance of M. rosenbergii to cold stress, indicating that the ACC gene might play an important role in the response of M. rosenbergii to cold stress. Alginate is derived from brown algae, which can be cultivated in large quantities. It can be broken down by alginate lyase into alginate oligosaccharides (AOSs), which exhibit a higher added value and better bioactivity than alginate. In this study, metagenomic technology was used to screen for genes that code for high-efficiency alginate lyases. The candidate alginate lyase gene alg169 was detected from Psychromonas sp. SP041, the most abundant species among alginate lyase bacteria on selected rotten kelps. The alginate lyase Alg169 was heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3), Ni-IDA-purified, and characterized. The optimum temperature and pH of Alg169 were 25 °C and 7.0, respectively. Metal ions including Mn2+, Co2+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Ni2+, and Ba2+ led to significantly increased enzyme activity. Alg169 exhibited a pronounced dependence on Na+, and upon treatment with Mn2+, its activity surged by 687.57%, resulting in the highest observed enzyme activity of 117,081 U/mg. Bioinformatic analysis predicted that Alg169 would be a double-domain lyase with a molecular weight of 65.58 kDa. It is a bifunctional enzyme with substrate specificity to polyguluronic acid (polyG) and polymannuronic acid (polyM). Extremely preterm infants are often treated with supraphysiological oxygen, which contributes to the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). These same infants exhibit compromised antioxidant capacities due in part to selenium (Se) deficiency. Se is essential for basal and inducible antioxidant responses. The present study utilized a perinatal Se deficiency (SeD) mouse model to identify the combined effects of newborn hyperoxia exposure and SeD on alveolarization and antioxidant responses, including the identification of affected developmental pathways. Se-sufficient (SeS) and SeD C3H/HeN breeding pairs were generated, and pups were exposed to room air or 85% O2 from birth to 14 d. Survival, antioxidant protein expression, and RNA seq analyses were performed. Greater than 40% mortality was observed in hyperoxia-exposed SeD pups. Surviving SeD pups had greater lung growth deficits than hyperoxia-exposed SeS pups. Gpx2 and 4 protein and Gpx activity were significantly decreased in SeD pups. Nrf2-regulated proteins, Nqo1 and Gclc were increased in SeD pups exposed to hyperoxia. RNA seq revealed significant decreases in the Wnt/β-catenin and Notch pathways. Se is a biologically relevant modulator of perinatal lung development and antioxidant responses, especially in the context of hyperoxia exposure. As the cornerstone of intelligent transportation systems, accurate traffic prediction can reduce the pressure of urban traffic, reduce the cost of residents' travel time, and provide a reference basis for urban construction planning. Existing traffic prediction methods focus on spatio-temporal dependence modeling, ignoring the influence of weather factors on spatio-temporal characteristics, and the prediction task has complexity and an uneven distribution in different spatio-temporal scenarios and weather changes. In view of this, we propose a weather interaction-aware spatio-temporal attention network (WST-ANet), in which we integrate feature models and dynamic graph modules in the encoder and decoder, and use a spatio-temporal weather interaction perception module for prediction. Firstly, the contextual semantics of the traffic flows are fused using a feature embedding module to improve the adaptability to weather drivers; then, an encoder–decoder is constructed by combining the Dynamic Graph Module and the WSTA Block, to extract spatio-temporal aggregated correlations in the roadway network; finally, the feature information of the encoder was weighted and aggregated using the cross-focusing mechanism, and attention was paid to the hidden state of the encoding. Traffic flow was predicted using the PeMS04 and PeMS08 datasets and compared with multiple typical baseline models. It was learned through extensive experiments that the accuracy evaluation result is the smallest in WST-ANet, which demonstrated the superiority of the proposed model. Surface features are crucial for assessing welding quality because they serve as an intuitive depiction of the quality of the joint and have a major influence on welding strength. According to the characteristics of the refill friction stir spot welding (RFSSW) process and an analysis of the surface-state and internal morphology of RFSSW joints, a method of predicting the mechanical properties of RFSSW joints based on surface-state characteristics was proposed. In this paper, a laser-ranging sensor was used to characterize the surface state of RFSSW joints, and parametric characterization methods of the surface-state features of RFSSW joints were proposed. On this basis, a support vector machine was used to predict and analyze the fracture mode of RFSSW joints. The accuracy of the analysis of the test samples reached 95.8%. For covert communication in lossy channels, it is necessary to consider that the carrier of the hidden watermark will undergo multiple image-processing attacks. In order to ensure that secret information can be extracted without distortion from the watermarked images that have undergone attacks, in this paper, we design a novel fragmented secure communication system. The sender will fragment the secret data to be transmitted and redundantly hide it in a large number of multimodal carriers of messenger accounts on multiple social platforms. The receiver receives enough covert carriers, extracts each fragment, and concatenates the transmitted secret data. This article uses the image carrier as an example to fragment the text file intended for transmission and embeds it into a large number of images, with each fragment being redundant and embedded into multiple images. In this way, at the receiving end, only enough stego images need to be received to extract the information in each image, and then concatenate the final secret file. In order to resist various possible attacks during image transmission, we propose a strong robust image watermarking method. This method adopts a watermark layer based on DFT, which has high embedding and detection efficiency and good invisibility. Secondly, a watermark layer based on DCT is adopted, which can resist translation attacks, JPEG attacks, and other common attacks. Experiments have shown that our watermarking method is very fast; both the embedding time and the extraction time are less than 0.15 s for images not larger than 2000 × 2000 . Our watermarking method has very good invisibility with 41 dB PSNR on average. And our watermarking method is more robust than existing schemes and robust to nearly all kinds of attacks. Based on this strong robust image watermarking method, the scheme of fragmenting and hiding redundant transmission content into a large number of images is effective and practical. Our scheme can 100% restore the secret file completely under different RST or hybrid attacks, such as rotation by 1 degree and 5 degrees, scaling by 1.25 and 0.8, and cropping by 10% and 25%. Our scheme can successfully restore the secret file completely even if 30% of received images are lost. When 80% of received images are lost, our scheme can still restore 61.1% of the secret file. Countries in arid climates, such as Qatar, require efficient water-saving strategies and nitrogen treatment for vegetable production. Vegetable importation constituted approximately USD 352 million of Qatar's 2019 GDP; hence, enhancing local production is essential. This study investigated the effect of varying nitrogen and water levels on cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) fruit yield. Various water management strategies were also evaluated. A split plot design was employed with two water levels (W1: 50% deficit irrigation, W2: 100% full irrigation) and three nitrogen levels (N1: 50 kg N ha−1, N2: 70 kg N ha−1, N3: 100 kg N ha−1) to examine cucumber yield and physiological response. Our findings revealed that using minimal drip irrigation and reducing nitrogen levels significantly enhanced the growth, SPAD index, fruit characteristics, and yield components of cucumber. Drip irrigation had a greater influence on cucumber production than nitrogen levels. Shoot height increased by 4% from W2N1 (T1) to W1N3 (T6) and 4.93% from W2N2 (T2) to W1N2 (T5). Fruit length and width increased by 10.63% and 13.41% from T2 and T1 to T5, respectively. The highest total yield occurred at T5, followed by T6, T2, W2N3 (T3), W1N1 (T4), and T1 at 34.5, 29.1, 27.6, 25.8, 25.2, and 20.4 t/ha, respectively. The optimal combination comprised 50% deficit irrigation (W1) and 70 kg N ha−1 (N2) nitrogen. The kidney plays a crucial role in glucose homeostasis by regulating glucose transport. We aimed to investigate the impact of alterations in glucose transport on glucose metabolism during ageing. Adult male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into five groups: 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month control groups, and 6- and 12-month groups receiving the hydrogen sulfide donor molecule GYY4137. The study found that, as age increased, daily urinary uric acid and protein levels increased in the 12-month group. Blood sugar level and HOMA-IR index increased in the 12-month group, and were partially improved by GYY4137. The kidney tissue showed mild glomerulosclerosis in the 12-month group, which was diminished by GYY4137. Gene expression analysis showed decreased sirtuin and increased p21 expression in the aging groups. Increased SGLT1 and SGLT2 expression was observed in the 12-month group, which was reversed by GYY4137. Both GLUT1 and GLUT2 expression was increased in the 6- and 12-month groups, and reversed by GYY4137 in the 12-month group. The study concluded that aging was associated with increased blood sugar levels and the HOMA-IR index, and the abundance of renal glucose transporters increased as aging progressed. The study of dispatching methods for large-scale interruptible loads and electric vehicle clusters is of great significance as an optional method to alleviate the problem of overload in interface power flow. In this paper, the distribution model and transfer capacity of large-scale interruptible load and electric vehicle in two dimensions of time and space were firstly introduced. Then, a large-scale interruptible load and electric vehicle dispatching model considering transmission interface power flow balance was established. Finally, a case study was carried out with the city power grid as the research object. Studies show that by dispatching large-scale interruptible load and electric vehicle, the overload rate of interface power flow can be reduced by 12–17%, while the proportion of clean energy generation increased by 4.19%. Large-scale interruptible load and electric vehicles are quite different in terms of the role they play in grid regulation. The regulation cost of electric vehicles is higher than that of large-scale interruptible load, but it also has the advantages of promoting the consumption of clean energy and improving the overall operating economy. Which type of resource should be given priority is based on the actual state of the grid. In addition, the cost of electricity has a significant impact on the load response behavior of electric vehicles. Market uncertainty has a significant impact on market performance. Previous studies have dedicated much effort towards investigations into market uncertainty related to information asymmetry and risk. However, they have neglected the uncertainty inherent in market transactions, which is also an important aspect of market performance, besides the quantity of transactions and market efficiency. In this paper, we put forward a concept of transaction entropy to measure market uncertainty and see how it changes with price. Transaction entropy is defined as the ratio of the total information entropy of all traders to the quantity of transactions, reflecting the level of uncertainty in making successful transactions. Based on the computational and simulated results, our main finding is that transaction entropy is the lowest at equilibrium, it will decrease in a shortage market, and increase in a surplus market. Additionally, we make a comparison of the total entropy of the centralized market with that of the decentralized market, revealing that the price-filtering mechanism could effectively reduce market uncertainty. To obtain a comprehensive understanding about that occurrence, sources, and effects on human health of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in road environmental samples from Harbin, concentrations of 32 PAHs in road dust, green belt soil, and parking lot dust samples were quantified. The total PAH concentrations ranged from 0.95 to 40.7 μg/g and 0.39 to 43.9 μg/g in road dust and green belt soil, respectively, and were dominated by high molecular weight PAHs (HMW-PAHs). Despite the content of PAHs in arterial roads being higher, the composition profile of PAHs was hardly influenced by road types. For parking lot dust, the range of total PAH concentrations was 0.81–190 μg/g, and three-ring to five-ring PAHs produced the maximum contribution. Compared with surface parking lots (mean: 6.12 μg/g), higher total PAH concentrations were detected in underground parking lots (mean: 33.1 μg/g). The diagnostic ratios of PAHs showed that petroleum, petroleum combustion, and biomass/coal combustion were major sources of PAHs in the samples. Furthermore, according to the Incremental Lifetime Cancer Risk model, the cancer risks of three kinds of samples for adults and children were above the threshold (10−6). Selective photodynamic therapy (PDT) for cancer cells is more efficient and much safer. Most selective PDTs are realized by antigene-biomarker or peptide-biomarker interactions. Here, we modified dextran with hydrophobic cholesterol as a photosensitizer carrier to selectively target cancer cells, including colon cancer cells, and fulfilled selective PDT. The photosensitizer was designed with regular Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) units, including triphenylamine and 2-(3-cyano-4,5,5-trimethylfuran-2-ylidene)propanedinitrile. The AIE units can help to decrease the quenching effect in the aggregate state. The efficiency of the photosensitizer is further improved via the heavy atom effect after bromination modification. We found that the obtained photosensitizer nanoparticles could selectively target and ablate cancer cells after encapsulation into the dextran-cholesterol carrier. Ganpu vine tea is a new type of health care citrus fruit tea made from citrus shell, Pu-er tea, and vine tea baked as raw materials. In this study, the in vitro uric acid synthase inhibition system and hyperuric acid cell model were constructed to appraise the uric acid lowering efficacy of Ganpu vine tea, traditional Ganpu tea, and vine tea. Results showed that in the uric acid synthase inhibition system, the aqueous extract can inhibite the puric metabolically related enzymes, such as adenosine deaminase (ADA), purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP), and xanthine oxidase (XOD). The ability of the aqueous extract to inhibit the above enzyme was as follows: vine tea > Ganpu vine tea > Ganpu tea; all teas had a strong effect on XOD inhibition. The hyperuric acid cell model test showed that the aqueous extract inhibited uric acid production through accumulating inosine and hypoxanthine and hindering xanthine synthesis. The uric acid reductive ability was as follows: Vine tea > Ganpu vine tea > Ganpu tea. The inhibition of enzymes related to uric acid synthesis and the inhibition of uric acid production were significantly enhanced through adding vine tea to Ganpu tea. Background: Currently, many detection methods have high sensitivity to the diagnosis of lung cancer. However, some postoperative patients with pulmonary nodules are eventually diagnosed as having benign nodules. The ideal evaluation of an individual with a pulmonary nodule would expedite therapy for a malignant nodule and minimize testing for those with a benign nodule. Methods: This case–control study is designed to explore the relationship between ACE1 rs4646994 polymorphism and the risk of lung cancer in patients with pulmonary nodules, for which 400 individuals with lung cancer and benign pulmonary nodules were included. A DNA extraction kit was used to extract DNA from peripheral blood. The relationship between ACE1 rs4646994 and the risk of lung cancer in patients with pulmonary nodules was determined by the chi-square test, logistic regression analysis and cross analysis. Results: The results showed that after adjusting for age and gender confounding factors, the risk of lung cancer in patients with pulmonary nodules carrying the DD genotype was more than three times that of the I carriers (II + ID) genotype (OR = 3.035, 95% CI, 1.252–7.356, p = 0.014). There was no significant difference between lung squamous cell carcinoma and lung adenocarcinoma in the polymorphism of ACE1 rs4646994 (p > 0.05). We also found that the ACE1 rs4646994 DD genotype frequency was inversely correlated with the risk of EGFR mutation in lung adenocarcinoma patients. Clinically, early brain injury (EBI), which refers to the acute injuries to the whole brain in the phase of the first 72 h following subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), is intensely investigated to improve neurological and psychological function. Additionally, it will be meaningful to explore new therapeutic approaches for EBI treatment to improve the prognosis of patients with SAH. To investigate the underlying neuroprotection mechanism in vitro, the Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B inhibitor (PTP1B-IN-1) was put in primary neurons induced by OxyHb to observe neuroapoptosis, neuroinflammation, and ER stress. Then, one hundred forty male mice were subjected to Experiment two and Experiment three. The mice in the SAH24h + PTP1B-IN-1 group were given an intraperitoneal injection of 5 mg/kg PTP1B-IN-1 30 min before anesthesia. SAH grade, neurological score, brain water content, Western blot, PCR, and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) were performed to observe the underlying neuroprotection mechanism in vivo. Overall, this study suggests that PTP1B-IN-1 could ameliorate neuroapoptosis, neuroinflammation, and ER stress in vitro and in vivo by regulating the IRS-2/AKT signaling pathway, suggesting that PTP1B-IN-1 may be a candidate drug for the treatment of early brain injury after SAH. A compact ultra-wideband bandpass filter based on a multilayer printed circuit board (MPCB) structure is proposed in this paper. RO4450F prepreg is used to bond three RO4350B dielectric substrates with different thicknesses in the MPCB structure. The upper surfaces of the three dielectric substrates are respectively provided with copper-coated structures with different patterns. The blind holes and the defected ground structure (DGS) are added to the MPCB of an ultra-wideband bandpass filter. Two groups of loaded quarter-wavelength terminal-open stubs introduce two transmission zeros, which improves the roll-off rates and stopband characteristics, while simple DGS composed of rectangular slots introduces two resonance points in the passband to improve the return loss. Simulation and measurement are consistent. The insertion loss at the center frequency of 12.795 GHz is 0.58 dB and the fractional bandwidth of 3 dB is 40.33% from 10.215 GHz to 15.375 GHz. Several environmental stresses, including biotic and abiotic factors, adversely affect the growth and development of crops, thereby lowering their yield. However, abiotic factors, e.g., drought, salinity, cold, heat, ultraviolet radiations (UVr), reactive oxygen species (ROS), trace metals (TM), and soil pH, are extremely destructive and decrease crop yield worldwide. It is expected that more than 50% of crop production losses are due to abiotic stresses. Moreover, these factors are responsible for physiological and biochemical changes in plants. The response of different plant species to such stresses is a complex phenomenon with individual features for several species. In addition, it has been shown that abiotic factors stimulate multi-gene responses by making modifications in the accumulation of the primary and secondary metabolites. Metabolomics is a promising way to interpret biotic and abiotic stress tolerance in plants. The study of metabolic profiling revealed different types of metabolites, e.g., amino acids, carbohydrates, phenols, polyamines, terpenes, etc, which are accumulated in plants. Among all, primary metabolites, such as amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids polyamines, and glycine betaine, are considered the major contributing factors that work as osmolytes and osmoprotectants for plants from various environmental stress factors. In contrast, plant-derived secondary metabolites, e.g., phenolics, terpenoids, and nitrogen-containing compounds (alkaloids), have no direct role in the growth and development of plants. Nevertheless, such metabolites could play a significant role as a defense by protecting plants from biotic factors such as herbivores, insects, and pathogens. In addition, they can enhance the resistance against abiotic factors. Therefore, metabolomics practices are becoming essential and influential in plants by identifying different phytochemicals that are part of the acclimation responses to various stimuli. Hence, an accurate metabolome analysis is important to understand the basics of stress physiology and biochemistry. This review provides insight into the current information related to the impact of biotic and abiotic factors on variations of various sets of metabolite levels and explores how primary and secondary metabolites help plants in response to these stresses. Capsaicinoids are pungent alkaloid compounds enriched with antioxidants, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, analgesics, anti-carcinogenic, anti-obesity and anti-diabetic properties. These compounds are primarily synthesised in the placenta of the fruit and then transported to other vegetative parts. Different varieties of capsicum and chillies contain different capsaicinoid concentrations. As capsicums and chillies are grown extensively throughout the world, their agricultural and horticultural production leads to significant amount of waste generation, in the form of fruits and plant biomass. Fruit wastes (placenta, seeds and unused fruits) and plant biowaste (stems and leaves) can serve as sources of capsaicinoids which can provide opportunities to extract these compounds for development of nutraceutical products using conventional or advanced extraction techniques. Capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin are two most abundantly found pungent compounds. Considering the health benefits of capsaicinoids, these compounds can help in reducing metabolic disease complications. The development of an advanced encapsulation therapy of safe and clinically effective oral capsaicinoid/capsaicin formulation seem to require evaluation of strategies to address challenges related to the dosage, limited half-life and bioavailability, adverse effects and pungency, and the impacts of other ligands antagonising the major capsaicinoid receptor. We previously reported a sustainable food waste management approach to produce an acceptable organic liquid fertiliser for recycling food waste called "FoodLift." This study follows our previous work to evaluate the macronutrients and cation concentrations in harvested structural parts of lettuce, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes produced using food waste-derived liquid fertiliser (FoodLift) and compare them against commercial liquid fertiliser (CLF) under hydroponic conditions. N and P concentrations in the structural parts of lettuce and the fruit and plant structural parts of cucumber appear to be similar between FoodLift and CLF (p > 0.05), with significantly different N concentrations in the various parts of cherry tomato plants (p < 0.05). For lettuce, N and P content varied from 50 to 260 g/kg and 11 to 88 g/kg, respectively. For cucumber and cherry tomato plants, N and P concentrations ranged from 1 to 36 g/kg and 4 to 33 g/kg, respectively. FoodLift was not effective as a nutrient source for growing cherry tomatoes. Moreover, the cation (K, Ca, and Mg) concentrations appear to significantly differ between FoodLift and CLF grown plants (p < 0.05). For example, for cucumber, Ca content varied from 2 to 18 g/kg for FoodLift grown plants while Ca in CLF-grown cucumber plants ranged from 2 to 28 g/kg. Overall, as suggested in our previous work, FoodLift has the potential to replace CLF in hydroponic systems for lettuce and cucumber. Persulfate-based in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) has been increasingly used for the remediation of contaminated groundwater and soil. In recent years, there have been numerous studies in the literature on all aspects of the activation of persulfate for contaminant removal at the laboratory scale, including the ways and mechanisms for the activation, the pathways of contaminant degradation, the factors associated with the activation performance, the methods characterizing the processes, etc. In contrast, studies in the literature on the practical use of the activated persulfate at the field scale are fewer, and at the same time have not been reviewed in an organized way. This review was initiated to summarize on the current research on the applications of activated persulfate for actual site remediation, and to extract the knowledge necessary for the formation of applicable technologies. The remediation efficiency and mechanism of activated persulfates by heat, alkaline, metal-based, and electrokinetic activated technologies are described. The major factors including pH, the persistence of persulfate, and the radius of influence and soil property during ISCO remediation applications were presented and discussed. The harvesting period is a critical period for the accumulation of flavonoids in the leaves of the important medicinal plant Epimedium sagittatum. In this study, we conducted an experiment on E. sagittatum leaves sprayed with mineral elements with the aim of improving the quality of the herbal leafage during the harvesting period. We elucidated the changes in flavonoids (icariin, epimedin A, epimedin B, and epimedin C) in E. sagittatum leaves. The sum of main flavonoids content reached a maximum (11.74%) at 20 days after the high-concentration Fe2+ (2500 mg·L−1) treatment. We analyzed the FT-IR spectra characteristics of E. sagittatum leaf samples using the FT-IR technique, and constructed an OPLS-DA model and identified characteristic peaks to achieve differentiated identification of E. sagittatum. Further, widely untargeted metabolomic analysis identified different classes of metabolites. As the most important characteristic flavonoids, the relative contents of icariin, icaritin, icariside I, and icariside II were found to be up-regulated by high-Fe2+ treatment. Our experimental results demonstrate that high-concentration Fe2+ treatment is an effective measure to increase the flavonoids content in E. sagittatum leaves during the harvesting period, which can provide a scientific basis for the improvement of E. sagittatum leaf cultivation agronomic measures. Energy saving and reduced consumption of key materials such as bearings in high-end equipment can be realized by synthesizing a new lubricating functional additive, copper-doped carbon quantum dot dispersion liquid (Cu-CQDs) via hydrothermal reaction with glycerol, cupric chloride dihydrate, and choline chloride as raw materials. The influence of the dispersion liquid containing Cu-CQDs nanoparticles on the lubricating properties of polyethylene glycol (PEG200) was investigated on a four-ball friction tester. The wear scars of steel balls after friction were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope accompanied by energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), photoelectron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. The results revealed the friction and wear mechanism of Cu-CQDs. Cu-CQDs dispersion liquid can significantly enhance the lubrication performance of PEG. The average friction coefficient of PEG containing 2.0 wt% Cu-CQDs dispersion liquid was 40.99% lower than that of pure PEG. The friction and wear mechanism can be ascribed to friction, inducing Cu-CQDs to participate in the formation of boundary lubricating film, resulting in a low friction coefficient and wear scar diameter. Fungal infections have become a growing public health challenge due to the clinical transmission of pathogenic fungi. The currently available antifungal drugs leave very limited choices for clinical physicians to deal with such situation, not to mention the long-standing problems of emerging drug resistance, side effects and heavy economic burdens imposed to patients. Therefore, new antifungal drugs are urgently needed. Screening drugs from natural products and using synthetic biology strategies are very promising for antifungal drug development. Chinese medicine is a vast library of natural products of biologically active molecules. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, preparations used to treat fungal diseases usually have antifungal and immunomodulatory functions. This suggests that if antifungal drugs are used in combination with immunomodulatory drugs, better results may be achieved. Studies have shown that the active components of TCM have strong antifungal or immunomodulatory effects and have broad application prospects. In this paper, the latest research progress of antifungal and immunomodulatory components of TCM is reviewed and discussed, hoping to provide inspiration for the design of novel antifungal compounds and to open up new horizons for antifungal treatment strategies. Simple Summary: Endothelial cell senescence has been considered as an initiation in the progress of vascular aging leading to the advancement of cardiovascular diseases, while the mechanism of endothelial cell senescence remains elusive. This study aimed to investigate the critical role of cathepsinL/V in endothelial cell senescence. We found that cathepsinL/V was decreased in senescent endothelial cells, which enhanced aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member A2 (ALDH1A2) expression and activated AKT/ERK1/2-P21 pathway, and therefore promoted cellular senescence, which may play an important role in vascular aging. The senescence of vascular endothelial cells (ECs) is characterized as a hallmark of vascular aging, which leads to the initiation, progress, and advancement of cardiovascular diseases. However, the mechanism of the ECs senescence remains elusive. In this study, thoracic aortas were separated from young (8-week-old) and aged (18-month-old) mice. Decreased Ctsl expression and increased vascular remodeling were observed in senescent aorta. H2O2 was used to induce human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) senescence, as shown by increased SA-β-gal positive cells and upregulated p21 level. CTSV significantly decreased after H2O2 treatment, while over-expression of CTSV by adenovirus reduced cellular senescence. RNA sequencing analysis was conducted subsequently, and ALDH1A2 was observed to significantly increased in H2O2 group and decreased after over-expression of CTSV. This result was further confirmed by RT-PCR and WB. Moreover, over-expression of CTSV reduced the increase of ERK1/2 and AKT phosphorylation induced by H2O2. Additionally, retinoic acid (RA), the major production of ALDH1A2, was added to CTSV over-expressed senescent HUVECs. Administration of RA activated AKT and ERK1/2, induced the expression of p21, and enhanced SA-β-gal positive cells, while not affecting the expression of CTSV and ALDH1A2. These results were further confirmed in doxorubicin (DOX)-induced senescent ECs. In conclude, we have identified that Ctsl/CTSV plays a key role in ECs senescence by regulating ALDH1A2 to activate AKT/ ERK1/2-P21 pathway. Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) has become an increasingly common vegetable grown in glasshouses. This study emphasized on the physiological traits and productivity of three eggplant cultivars (Longa, Lydia, and Tracey) in a high-tech glasshouse to determine the genotypic differences of agronomical, morphological, and physiological responses. The physiological parameters as well as the productivity of these eggplant cultivars were evaluated. The results showed that Tracey had significantly higher leaf growth than Longa and Lydia. Longa exhibited significantly higher values of net CO2 assimilation (A), stomatal conductance (gs), and transpiration rate (Tr) than Tracey, whereas Tracey showed significantly larger gs, Tr, and intracellular CO2 concentration (Ci) than Lydia. Tracey showed a significantly higher number of flowers per node compared to the two other varieties, but the number of fruits did not statistically differ among cultivars. Tracy produced the highest yield (fruit weight and fruit yield per m2) due to the significantly higher leaf length and leaf expansion rate despite the lowest level of A among the three cultivars. Interestingly, the higher yield of Tracey translated into better water use efficiency (WUE) in the agronomic term, but its intrinsic WUE (A/gs) was the lowest among the three cultivars. However, significant correlations between photosynthetic parameters and WUE were only found in certain stages of eggplant growth. Therefore, further research work with an emphasis on the source and sink partitioning of a large number of eggplant genotypes is required to investigate the varietal performance of greenhouse eggplants. Simple Summary: Schwann cells (SCs) have been reported to support tumor spreading and metastasis formation in both the in vitro and in vivo models. However, the role of SCs in the progression of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) has not been investigated. This study demonstrated the crosstalk between SCLC and tumor-associated SCs (TA-SCs) and constructed the mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA network that may regulate tumor cell-SC interaction and cancer progression. Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), representing 15–20% of all lung cancers, is an aggressive malignancy with a distinct natural history, poor prognosis, and limited treatment options. We have previously identified Schwann cells (SCs), the main glial cells of the peripheral nervous system, in tumor tissues and demonstrated that they may support tumor spreading and metastasis formation in the in vitro and in vivo models. However, the role of SCs in the progression of SCLC has not been investigated. To clarify this issue, the cell proliferation assay, the annexin V apoptosis assay, and the transwell migration and invasion assay were conducted to elucidate the roles in SCLC of tumor-associated SCs (TA-SCs) in the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of SCLC cells in vitro, compared to control group. In addition, the animal models to assess SC action's effects on SCLC in vivo were also developed. The result confirmed that TA-SCs have a well-established and significant role in facilitating SCLC cell cancer migration and invasion of SCLC in vitro, and we also observed that SC promotes tumor growth of SCLC in vivo and that TA-SCs exhibited an advantage and show a repair-like phenotype, which allowed defining them as tumor-associated repair SCs (TAR-SCs). Potential molecular mechanisms of pro-tumorigenic activity of TAR-SCs were investigated by the screening of differentially expressed genes and constructing networks of messenger-, micro-, and long- non-coding RNA (mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA) using DMS114 cells, a human SCLC, stimulated with media from DMS114-activated SCs, non-stimulated SCs, and appropriate controls. This study improves our understanding of how SCs, especially tumor-activated SCs, may promote SCLC progression. Protected cropping produces more food per land area than field-grown crops. Protected cropping includes low-tech polytunnels utilizing protective coverings, medium-tech facilities with some environmental control, and high-tech facilities such as fully automated glasshouses and indoor vertical farms. High crop productivity and quality are maintained by using environmental control systems and advanced precision phenotyping sensor technologies that were first developed for broadacre agricultural and can now be utilized for protected-cropping applications. This paper reviews the state of the global protected-cropping industry and current precision phenotyping methodology and technology that is used or can be used to advance crop productivity and quality in a protected growth environment. This review assesses various sensor technologies that can monitor and maintain microclimate parameters, as well as be used to assess plant productivity and produce quality. The topography of the Puyang River catchment is complex and includes hills and plains. The Zhuji basin in the middle reaches a densely populated area facing serious flooding issues, due to the upstream flooding and downstream backwater. To address the problem, this study applies the Xin'anjiang hydrological model and IFMS 1D-2D hydrodynamic model, to simulate flood scenarios. The simulation results demonstrated that the hydrological model and the -hydrodynamic model together are a feasible tool to monitor the flooding process in the Puyang River catchment. In addition, different flood scenarios which consider disaster-inducing factors and flood control operations are simulated by the model. (1) Background: Senescence represents the final stage of plant growth and development, which transfers nutrients to growing seeds and directly affects the yield and quality of crops. However, little is known about chlorophyll degradation in developing and maturing seeds, in contrast to leaf senescence; (2) Methods: RNA-Seq was used to analyze the differentially expressed genes of different late-senescent germplasms. A widely untargeted metabolic analysis was used to analyze differential metabolites. In addition, qRT-PCR was conducted to detect gene expression levels; (3) Results: Transcriptome analysis revealed that ZX12 seeds have a higher expression level of the chlorophyll synthesis genes in the early stage of maturity, compared with ZX4, and have a lower expression level of chlorophyll degradation genes in the late stage of maturity. Flavonoids were the primary differential metabolites, and ZX12 contains the unique and highest expression of three types of metabolites, including farrerol-7-O-glucoside, cyanidin-3-o-(6′-o-feruloyl) glucoside, and kaempferide-3-o-(6′-malonyl) glucoside. Among them, farrerol-7-O-glucoside and cyanidin-3-o-(6′-o-feruloyl) glucoside are flavonoid derivatives containing mono and dihydroxy-B-ring chemical structures, respectively; and (4) Conclusions: It is speculated that the two metabolites can slow down the degradation process of chlorophyll by scavenging oxygen-free radicals in the chloroplast. Simple Summary: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have made an indelible mark on metastatic colorectal cancer patients with microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) instead of microsatellite stability (MSS) tumors. Clinical studies have explored the introduction of ICIs into treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer patients with MSS; however, the outcomes are still limited. Different studies have provided valuable information for understanding the expression and clinical significance of PD-1 and PD-L1 during neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT). However, the value of CTLA-4 and CD86 after nCRT has not been fully studied. We found that CD86 expression was significantly lower in the nCRT-treated group rather than CTLA-4. Improved overall survival in patients with lower CD86 expression could only be observed in patients with low rather than high t/sCD8+ cell densities. Our findings reveal the relationship between the immunosuppressive microenvironment and the CTLA-4/CD86 pathway after nCRT. The synergistic effect of combining immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) with neoadjuvant chemo(radio)therapy (nCRT) in colorectal cancer is still limited. We aimed to understand the impact of nCRT on the tumor microenvironment and to explore favorable immune markers of this combination. Herein, we investigated the expression of cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4), CD86, CD4, and CD8 after nCRT and its association with clinicopathological characteristics. Immunostaining of immune-related molecules was performed in 255 surgically resected specimens from rectal cancer patients treated with nCRT. CD4 and CD8 expression on the tumor (tCD4/CD8), stroma (sCD4/CD8), and invasive front (iCD4/CD8) was evaluated. The expression levels of immune-related molecules were significantly lower in the nCRT-treated group, except for CTLA-4 and sCD8. However, patients with higher sCD8+ cell density and CTLA-4 expression had better progression-free survival (PFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS). In addition, higher CD86 expression was associated with poorer overall survival (OS). Higher CTLA-4 expression was associated with higher tCD8+ cell density, whereas CD86 expression was correlated with the cell density of t/sCD8. Prognostic analysis confirmed that the relationships between CTLA-4 and DMFS as well as CD86 and OS were significantly correlated in low rather than high CD8+ cell density. Further the combination of CD8+ cell density and CD86 expression was shown to be an independent prognostic factor of OS, whereas the combination of CTLA-4 was not for DMFS. Together, these results demonstrate significant correlations between CD86 expression and t/sCD8+ cell density in rectal cancer after nCRT and could potentially have clinical implications for combining ICIs and nCRT. Urban water plays a significant role in the urban ecosystem, but urban water extraction is still a challenging task in automatic interpretation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The influence of radar shadows and strong scatters in urban areas may lead to misclassification in urban water extraction. Nevertheless, the local features captured by convolutional layers in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are generally redundant and cannot make effective use of global information to guide the prediction of water pixels. To effectively emphasize the identifiable water characteristics and fully exploit the global information of SAR images, a modified Unet based on hybrid attention mechanism is proposed to improve the performance of urban water extraction in this paper. Considering the feature extraction ability and the global modeling capability in SAR image segmentation, the Channel and Spatial Attention Module (CSAM) and the Multi-head Self-Attention Block (MSAB) are both introduced into the proposed Hybrid Attention Unet (HA-Unet). In this work, Resnet50 is adopted as the backbone of HA-Unet to extract multi-level features of SAR images. During the feature extraction process, CSAM based on local attention is adopted to enhance the meaningful water features and ignore unnecessary features adaptively in feature maps of two shallow layers. In the last two layers of the backbone, MSAB is introduced to capture the global information of SAR images to generate global attention. In addition, two global attention maps generated by MSAB are aggregated together to reconstruct the spatial feature relationship of SAR images from high-resolution feature maps. The experimental results on Sentinel-1A SAR images show that the proposed urban water extraction method has a strong ability to extract water bodies in the complex urban areas. The recent advances in plant biology have significantly improved our understanding of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as signaling molecules in the redox regulation of complex cellular processes. In plants, free radicals and non-radicals are prevalent intra- and inter-cellular ROS, catalyzing complex metabolic processes such as photosynthesis. Photosynthesis homeostasis is maintained by thiol-based systems and antioxidative enzymes, which belong to some of the evolutionarily conserved protein families. The molecular and biological functions of redox regulation in photosynthesis are usually to balance the electron transport chain, photosystem II, photosystem I, mesophyll and bundle sheath signaling, and photo-protection regulating plant growth and productivity. Here, we review the recent progress of ROS signaling in photosynthesis. We present a comprehensive comparative bioinformatic analysis of redox regulation in evolutionary distinct photosynthetic cells. Gene expression, phylogenies, sequence alignments, and 3D protein structures in representative algal and plant species revealed conserved key features including functional domains catalyzing oxidation and reduction reactions. We then discuss the antioxidant-related ROS signaling and important pathways for achieving homeostasis of photosynthesis. Finally, we highlight the importance of plant responses to stress cues and genetic manipulation of disturbed redox status for balanced and enhanced photosynthetic efficiency and plant productivity. The proliferation of massive polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data helps promote the development of SAR image interpretation. Due to the advantages of powerful feature extraction capability and strong adaptability for different tasks, deep learning has been adopted in the work of SAR image interpretation and has achieved good results. However, most deep learning methods only employ single-polarization SAR images and ignore the water features embedded in multi-polarization SAR images. To fully exploit the dual-polarization SAR data and multi-scale features of SAR images, an effective flood detection method for SAR images is proposed in this paper. In the proposed flood detection method, a powerful Multi-Scale Deeplab (MS-Deeplab) model is constructed based on the dual-channel MobileNetV2 backbone and the classic DeeplabV3+ architecture to improve the ability of water feature extraction in SAR images. Firstly, the dual-channel feature extraction backbone based on the lightweight MobileNetV2 separately trains the dual-polarization SAR images, and the obtained training parameters are merged with the linear weighting to fuse dual-polarization water features. Given the multi-scale space information in SAR images, then, a multi-scale feature fusion module is introduced to effectively utilize multi-layer features and contextual information, which enhances the representation of water features. Finally, a joint loss function is constructed based on cross-entropy and a dice coefficient to deal with the imbalanced categorical distribution in the training dataset. The experimental results on the time series of Sentinel-1A SAR images show that the proposed method for flood detection has a strong ability to locate water boundaries and tiny water bodies in complex scenes. In terms of quantitative assessment, MS-Deeplab can achieve a better performance compared with other mainstream semantic segmentation models, including PSPNet, Unet and the original DeeplabV3+ model, with a 3.27% intersection over union (IoU) and 1.69% pixel accuracy (PA) improvement than the original DeeplabV3+ model. Omics analyses are commonly used for identifying pathways and genes responsible for physiologic and pathologic processes. Though sex is considered a biological variable in rigorous assessments of pulmonary responses to oxidant exposures, the contribution of the murine strain is largely ignored. This study utilized an unbiased integrated assessment of high-resolution metabolomic profiling and RNA-sequencing to explore sex- and strain-dependent pathways in adult mouse lungs. The results indicated that strain exhibited a greater influence than sex on pathways associated with inflammatory and oxidant/antioxidant responses and that interaction metabolites more closely resembled those identified as differentially expressed by strain. Metabolite analyses revealed that the components of the glutathione antioxidant pathway were different between strains, specifically in the formation of mixed disulfides. Additionally, selenium metabolites such as selenohomocystiene and selenocystathionine were similarly differentially expressed. Transcriptomic analysis revealed similar findings, as evidenced by differences in glutathione peroxidase, peroxiredoxin, and the inflammatory transcription factors RelA and Jun. In summary, an multi-omics integrated approach identified that murine strain disproportionately impacts baseline expression of antioxidant systems in lung tissues. Clarifying the time-dependent strength deterioration characteristics of carbonaceous mudstone under dry and wet cycles is of great significance to the design of expressway cut slopes. In this work, we conducted triaxial compression creep tests on carbonaceous mudstone specimens that had undergone different numbers of dry and wet cycles to investigate their creep properties. A function was established between the steady-state viscoplastic creep rate and axial compression. The threshold stress of the steady-state viscoplastic creep rate was assumed as the long-term strength, and the long-term strength deterioration law of carbonaceous mudstone under dry and wet cycles was studied. The results showed that the transient strain, viscoelastic creep, and viscoplastic creep of carbonaceous mudstone increased with the number of dry and wet cycles, and the creep failure stress and transient elasticity modulus decreased. Based on the steady-state viscoplastic creep rate method, the long-term strength of carbonaceous mudstone after n (n = 0, 3, 6, 9) dry and wet cycles was found to be 74.25%, 64.88%, 57.56%, and 53.16% of its uniaxial compression strength, respectively. Compared with the isochronous curve method and the transition creep method, the steady-state viscoplastic creep rate method can more accurately determine the long-term rock strength. The long-term strength of carbonaceous mudstone under dry and wet cycles decays exponentially, and the long-term strength decay rate during the first three dry and wet cycles is about 215 times the average decay rate. Tannin (TA) improves porcine oocyte cytoplasmic maturation and subsequent embryonic development after in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, the mechanism through which TA blocks polyspermy after IVF remains unclear. Hence, the biological function of organelles (cortical granule [CG], Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum [ER], and mitochondria) and the incidence of polyspermic penetration were examined. We found no significant difference in oocyte nuclear maturation among the 1 µg/mL, 10 µg/mL TA, and control groups. Moreover, 100 μg/mL TA significantly reduced 1st polar body formation rate compared to the other groups. Additionally, 1 and 10 μg/mL TA significantly increased the protein levels of GDF9, BMP15, and CDK1 compared to the control and 100 μg/mL TA groups. Interestingly, 1 and 10 μg/mL TA improved the normal distribution of CGs, Golgi, ER, and mitochondria by upregulating organelle-related gene expression and downregulating ER stress (CHOP) gene expression. Simultaneously, 1 and 10 μg/mL TA significantly increased the proportion of normal fertilized oocytes (2 pronuclei; 2 PN) and blastocyst formation rate compared to the control, as well as that of 100 μg/mL TA after IVF by upregulating polyspermy-related genes. Xinyang Maojian (XYMJ) is one of the premium green teas and originates from Xinyang, which is the northernmost green tea production area in China. The special geographic location, environmental conditions, and manufacturing process contribute to the unique flavor and rich nutrition of XYMJ green tea. Aroma is an important quality indicator in XYMJ green tea. In order to illustrate the aroma of XYMJ green tea, the key odorants in XYMJ green tea and their dynamic changes during the manufacturing processes were analyzed by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 73 volatile compounds of six different chemical classes were identified in the processed XYMJ green tea samples, and the manufacturing processes resulted in the losses of total volatile compounds. Among the identified volatile compounds, twenty-four aroma-active compounds, such as trans-nerolidol, geranylacetone, nonanal, (+)-δ-cadinene, linalool, (Z)-jasmone, cis-3-hexenyl butyrate, cis-3-hexenyl hexanoate, methyl jasmonate, and β-ocimene, were identified as the key odorants of XYMJ green tea based on odor activity value (OAV). The key odorants are mainly volatile terpenes (VTs) and fatty acid-derived volatiles (FADVs). Except for (+)-δ-cadinene, copaene, cis-β-farnesene, (Z,E)-α-farnesene and phytol acetate, the key odorants significantly decreased after fixing. The principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) and the hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) analyses suggested that fixing was the most important manufacturing process for the aroma formation of XYMJ green tea. Soil salinity is a major constraint that affects plant growth and development. Rice is a staple food for more than half of the human population but is extremely sensitive to salinity. Among the several known mechanisms, the ability of the plant to exclude cytosolic Na+ is strongly correlated with salinity stress tolerance in different plant species. This exclusion is mediated by the plasma membrane (PM) Na+/H+ antiporter encoded by Salt Overly Sensitive (SOS1) gene and driven by a PM H+-ATPase generated proton gradient. However, it is not clear to what extent this mechanism is operational in wild and cultivated rice species, given the unique rice root anatomy and the existence of the bypass flow for Na+. As wild rice species provide a rich source of genetic diversity for possible introgression of abiotic stress tolerance, we investigated physiological and molecular basis of salinity stress tolerance in Oryza species by using two contrasting pairs of cultivated (Oryza sativa) and wild rice species (Oryza alta and Oryza punctata). Accordingly, dose- and age-dependent Na+ and H+ fluxes were measured using a non-invasive ion selective vibrating microelectrode (the MIFE technique) to measure potential activity of SOS1-encoded Na+/H+ antiporter genes. Consistent with GUS staining data reported in the literature, rice accessions had (~4–6-fold) greater net Na+ efflux in the root elongation zone (EZ) compared to the mature root zone (MZ). Pharmacological experiments showed that Na+ efflux in root EZ is suppressed by more than 90% by amiloride, indicating the possible involvement of Na+/H+ exchanger activity in root EZ. Within each group (cultivated vs. wild) the magnitude of amiloride-sensitive Na+ efflux was higher in tolerant genotypes; however, the activity of Na+/H+ exchanger was 2–3-fold higher in the cultivated rice compared with their wild counterparts. Gene expression levels of SOS1, SOS2 and SOS3 were upregulated under 24 h salinity treatment in all the tested genotypes, with the highest level of SOS1 transcript detected in salt-tolerant wild rice genotype O. alta (~5–6-fold increased transcript level) followed by another wild rice, O. punctata. There was no significant difference in SOS1 expression observed for cultivated rice (IR1-tolerant and IR29-sensitive) under both 0 and 24 h salinity exposure. Our findings suggest that salt-tolerant cultivated rice relies on the cytosolic Na+ exclusion mechanism to deal with salt stress to a greater extent than wild rice, but its operation seems to be regulated at a post-translational rather than transcriptional level. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of celecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, in addition to standard anticancer therapy. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the efficacy and safety of celecoxib-combined cancer therapy were systematically searched in PubMed and Embase databases. The endpoints were overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), disease-free survival (DFS), objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), pathological complete response (pCR), and adverse events (AEs). The results of 30 RCTs containing 9655 patients showed limited benefits in celecoxib-combined cancer therapy. However, celecoxib-combined palliative therapy prolonged PFS in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) wild-type patients (HR = 0.57, 95%CI = 0.35–0.94). Moreover, despite a slight increase in thrombocytopenia (RR = 1.35, 95%CI = 1.08–1.69), there was no increase in other toxicities. Celecoxib combined with adjuvant therapy indicated a better OS (HR = 0.850, 95%CI = 0.725–0.996). Furthermore, celecoxib plus neoadjuvant therapy improved the ORR in standard cancer therapy, especially neoadjuvant therapy (overall: RR = 1.13, 95%CI = 1.03–1.23; neoadjuvant therapy: RR = 1.25, 95%CI = 1.09–1.44), but not pCR. Our study indicated that adding celecoxib to palliative therapy prolongs the PFS of EGFR wild-type patients, with good safety profiles. Celecoxib combined with adjuvant therapy prolongs OS, and celecoxib plus neoadjuvant therapy improves the ORR. Thus, celecoxib-combined cancer therapy may be a promising therapy strategy. This study aimed to determine the underlying mechanism of ramelteon on the competence of oocyte and subsequent embryo development in pigs during in vitro maturation (IVM). Our results showed that the cumulus expansion index was significantly lower in the control group compared to the ramelteon groups (p < 0.05). Moreover, supplementation of 10−11 and 10−9 M ramelteon significantly increased the cumulus expansion and development-related genes expression, and reduced apoptosis in cumulus cells (p < 0.05). In oocytes, the nuclear maturation rate was significantly improved in 10−11, 10−9, and 10−7 M ramelteon groups compared to the control (p < 0.05). Additionally, the level of intracellular GSH was significantly increased and ROS was significantly decreased in ramelteon-supplemented groups, and the gene expression of oocyte development and apoptosis were significantly up- and down-regulated by 10−11 and 10−9 M ramelteon (p < 0.05), respectively. The immunofluorescence results showed that the protein levels of GDF9, BMP15, SOD1, CDK1, and PGC1α were significantly increased by 10−11 M ramelteon compared to the control (p < 0.05). Although there was no significant difference in cleavage rate, the blastocyst formation rate, total cell numbers, and hatching/-ed rate were significantly improved in 10−11 M ramelteon group compared to the control (p < 0.05). Furthermore, embryo development, hatching, and mitochondrial biogenesis-related genes were dramatically up-regulated by 10−11 M ramelteon (p < 0.05). In addition, the activities of lipogenesis and lipolysis in oocytes were dramatically increased by 10−11 M ramelteon compared to the control (p < 0.05). In conclusion, supplementation of 10−11 M ramelteon during IVM improved the oocyte maturation and subsequent embryo development by reducing oxidative stress and maintenance of lipid homeostasis. Tilia amurensis Rupr. is a crucial species widely used in our life, because its wood is easy to process due to its low specific gravity and good elasticity. To understand the effect of the latitudinal gradients on T. amurensis metabolites profiles, we collected data from six different latitudes about physiological indicators such as temperature, light, and precipitation, then analyzed the differences in T. amurensis metabolite profiles from these different latitudes. The metabolomes of the six latitudes (SFS 49°28′53.26″ N, WY 48°06′51.314″ N, LS 47°11′1.71″ N, BL 45°7′55″ N, BH 43°50′16.8″ N, and TS 40′30.89″ N) were compared using GC–MS/LC–MS, and significant differences in primary and secondary metabolites were found. A total of 29 primary metabolites were screened by orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), and 34 flavonoids were determined using the targeted metabolomics methods. A total of 11 flavonoids in secondary metabolites were significantly different in the LS region compared with other areas. The main physiological indicator that differs between the LS region and other regions was the annual sunshine percentage. This indicates that the metabolic differences in T. amurensis at different latitudes may be affected by environmental factors such as annual sunshine percentage. As a vital species, T. amurensis metabolites change with different environmental factors, indicating that this species has different adaptability to the environment of different latitudes. Protected cropping offers a way to bolster food production in the face of climate change and deliver healthy food sustainably with fewer resources. However, to make this way of farming economically viable, we need to consider the status of protected cropping in the context of available technologies and corresponding target horticultural crops. This review outlines existing opportunities and challenges that must be addressed by ongoing research and innovation in this exciting but complex field in Australia. Indoor farm facilities are broadly categorised into the following three levels of technological advancement: low-, medium- and high-tech with corresponding challenges that require innovative solutions. Furthermore, limitations on indoor plant growth and protected cropping systems (e.g., high energy costs) have restricted the use of indoor agriculture to relatively few, high value crops. Hence, we need to develop new crop cultivars suitable for indoor agriculture that may differ from those required for open field production. In addition, protected cropping requires high start-up costs, expensive skilled labour, high energy consumption, and significant pest and disease management and quality control. Overall, protected cropping offers promising solutions for food security, while reducing the carbon footprint of food production. However, for indoor cropping production to have a substantial positive impact on global food security and nutritional security, the economical production of diverse crops will be essential. Xinyang Maojian (XYMJ) green tea is one of the top ten teas in China, and the consumers prefer spring tea due to its umami taste and pleasurable aroma. However, the knowledge about temporal variation of the volatile compounds in XYMJ green teas harvested during different seasons is very limited. In the present work, the main non-volatile compounds that endowed the taste and volatile compounds responsible for the aroma in XYMJ green teas harvested during the spring and autumn seasons were determined. The average contents of free amino acids (FAA) were significantly higher and gradually declined in the spring teas, whereas the caffeine was significantly lower and gradually increased in the spring teas. A total of 39 volatile compounds of six chemical classes were detected in XYMJ green teas, and they displayed various change trends during the spring and autumn seasons, among which 15 volatile compounds were identified as the key odorants based on odor activity value (OAV). The highest OAV of 2195.05 was calculated for the violet-like smelling trans-β-ionone followed by decanal, nonanal, dimethyl sulfide, linalool, geraniol and naphthalene. The OAVs of geraniol, (Z)-3-hexenyl hexanoate, heptanal, benzaldehyde and hexanal in XYMJ spring teas were higher than XYMJ autumn teas. The hierarchical clustering analysis indicated that XYMJ green teas were divided into three clusters and the quality of XYMJ green teas changed greatly within spring season. A deep-learning based detector for M-ary phase position shift keying (MPPSK) systems is proposed in this paper. The major components of this detector include a special impact filter, a stacked denoising sparse autoencoder (DSAE), which was trained in unsupervised learning to extract features from the modulation signals, and a softmax classifier. The features learned by the stacked DSAE were then used to train the softmax classifier to demodulate the received signals into M classes. The architecture presented herein was trained and tested on a simple dataset extended by adding Gaussian noise only. Simple Summary: This review focuses on plant growth and development harmed by abiotic stress, primarily salt stress. Salt stress raises the intracellular osmotic pressure, leading to hazardous sodium buildup. Plants react to salt stress signals by regulating ion homeostasis, activating the osmotic stress pathway, modulating plant hormone signaling, and altering cytoskeleton dynamics and cell wall composition. Understanding the processes underlying these physiological and biochemical responses to salt stress could lead to more effective agricultural crop yield measures. In this review, researchers outline recent advances in plant salt stress control. The study of plant salt tolerance processes is essential, both theoretically and practically, to improve agricultural output, produce novel salt-tolerant cultivars, and make full use of saline soil. Based on past research, this paper discusses the adverse effects of salt stress on plants, including photosynthesis suppression, ion homeostasis disturbance, and membrane peroxidation. The authors have also covered the physiological mechanisms of salt tolerance, such as the scavenging of reactive oxygen species and osmotic adjustment. This study further identifies specific salt stress-responsive mechanisms linked to physiological systems. Based on previous studies, this article reviews the current methodologies and techniques for improving plant salt tolerance. Overall, it is hoped that the above-mentioned points will impart helpful background information for future agricultural and crop plant production. Salinity is significant abiotic stress that affects the majority of agricultural, irrigated, and cultivated land. It is an issue of global importance, causing many socio-economic problems. Salt stress mainly occurs due to two factors: (1) soil type and (2) irrigation water. It is a major environmental constraint, limiting crop growth, plant productivity, and agricultural yield. Soil salinity is a major problem that considerably distorts ecological habitats in arid and semi-arid regions. Excess salts in the soil affect plant nutrient uptake and osmotic balance, leading to osmotic and ionic stress. Plant adaptation or tolerance to salinity stress involves complex physiological traits, metabolic pathways, the production of enzymes, compatible solutes, metabolites, and molecular or genetic networks. Different plant species have different salt overly sensitive pathways and high-affinity K+ channel transporters that maintain ion homeostasis. However, little progress has been made in developing salt-tolerant crop varieties using different breeding approaches. This review highlights the interlinking of plant morpho-physiological, molecular, biochemical, and genetic approaches to produce salt-tolerant plant species. Most of the research emphasizes the significance of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria in protecting plants from biotic and abiotic stressors. Plant growth, survival, and yield can be stabilized by utilizing this knowledge using different breeding and agronomical techniques. This information marks existing research areas and future gaps that require more attention to reveal new salt tolerance determinants in plants—in the future, creating genetically modified plants could help increase crop growth and the toleration of saline environments. Smart Glass Film (SGF) is a glasshouse covering material designed to permit 80% transmission of photosynthetically active light and block heat-generating solar energy. SGF can reduce crop water and nutrient consumption and improve glasshouse energy use efficiency yet can reduce crop yield. The effect of SGF on the postharvest shelf life of fruits remains unknown. Two capsicum varieties, Red (Gina) and Orange (O06614), were cultivated within a glasshouse covered in SGF to assess fruit quality and shelf life during the winter season. SGF reduced cuticle thickness in the Red cultivar (5%) and decreased ascorbic acid in both cultivars (9–14%) without altering the overall morphology of the mature fruits. The ratio of total soluble solids (TSSs) to titratable acidity (TA) was significantly higher in Red (29%) and Orange (89%) cultivars grown under SGF. The Red fruits had a thicker cuticle that reduced water loss and extended shelf life when compared to the Orange fruits, yet neither water loss nor firmness were impacted by SGF. Reducing the storage temperature to 2 °C and increasing relative humidity to 90% extended the shelf life in both cultivars without evidence of chilling injury. In summary, SGF had minimal impact on fruit development and postharvest traits and did not compromise the shelf life of mature fruits. SGF provides a promising technology to block heat-generating solar radiation energy without affecting fruit ripening and marketable quality of capsicum fruits grown during the winter season. Marine biofouling is a worldwide problem in coastal areas and affects the maritime industry primarily by attachment of fouling organisms to solid immersed surfaces. Biofilm formation by microbes is the main cause of biofouling. Currently, application of antibacterial materials is an important strategy for preventing bacterial colonization and biofilm formation. A natural three-dimensional carbon skeleton material, TRP (treated rape pollen), attracted our attention owing to its visible-light-driven photocatalytic disinfection property. Based on this, we hypothesized that TRP, which is eco-friendly, would show antifouling performance and could be used for marine antifouling. We then assessed its physiochemical characteristics, oxidant potential, and antifouling ability. The results showed that TRP had excellent photosensitivity and oxidant ability, as well as strong anti-bacterial colonization capability under light-driven conditions. Confocal laser scanning microscopy showed that TRP could disperse pre-established biofilms on stainless steel surfaces in natural seawater. The biodiversity and taxonomic composition of biofilms were significantly altered by TRP (p < 0.05). Moreover, metagenomics analysis showed that functional classes involved in the antioxidant system, environmental stress, glucose–lipid metabolism, and membrane-associated functions were changed after TRP exposure. Co-occurrence model analysis further revealed that TRP markedly increased the complexity of the biofilm microbial network under light irradiation. Taken together, these results demonstrate that TRP with light irradiation can inhibit bacterial colonization and prevent initial biofilm formation. Previous studies suggest that the inclusion of melatonin (MTn) in in vitro maturation protocols improves the developmental competence of oocytes by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, the molecular mechanisms integrating melatonin receptor (MT)-mediated lipid metabolism and redox signaling during in vitro cumulus–oocyte complex (COC) development still remain unclear. Here, we aimed to elucidate the potential role of MTn receptors in lipid metabolic adjustments during in vitro porcine COC development. We observed that MTn-mediated Gsα–cAMP/PKA signaling facilitated lipolysis primarily through the MT2 receptor and subsequently increased fatty acid (FA) release by hydrolyzing intracellular triglycerides (TGs) in cumulus cells. Furthermore, CD36 was a critical FA transporter that transported available FAs from cumulus cells to oocytes and promoted de novo TG synthesis in the latter. In addition, MTn regulated lipogenesis and intracellular lipolysis to maintain lipid homeostasis and limit ROS production, thereby supporting oocyte cytoplasmic maturation and the subsequent embryo development. Taken together, these findings provide insight into the possible mechanism integrating MT2-mediated lipid homeostasis and redox signaling, which limits ROS production during in vitro COC development. Therefore, understanding the dynamics of the interactions between lipid homeostasis and redox signaling driven by MT2 is necessary in order to predict drug targets and the effects of therapeutics used to improve female reproductive health.
