In order to rapidly evaluate the working performance of an Electric Power Steering System (EPS) and clarify the key indicators that affect its working condition, targeted maintenance measures can be taken to improve the vehicle's handling, stability, and safety. This paper took an EPS system as the research object and decomposed it into five working indicators: steering lightness, steering returnability, steering wheel mid-zone performance, steering wheel vibration, and power assist characteristics. On this basis, the subjective exponential extension Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was combined with the objective improved entropy weight method, and then the combination weighting method of game theory was employed to ensure that the results were reliable. At the same time, a cloud model was introduced to understand the actual situation of each indicator by using cloud parameters and multi-level feedback results. According to the principle of maximum membership and the comprehensive evaluation method, the EPS performance evaluation result was obtained. The results showed that the comprehensive cloud parameter of EPS was U (74.31, 6.08, 0.50), which indicated that its working performance was in good condition, with some minor damage that did not affect its normal use; however, attention should be paid to the maintenance and repair of vulnerable components to ensure the handling, stability, and safety of the vehicle. Properly designed and installed interior stairs provide safe and convenient access to all residents of the house, including children and elderly people. While safety considerations are paramount for stair design and placement decisions in a two-storey single-family house, sustainability becomes another important factor in these deliberations. Nevertheless, safety and sustainability of the interior stairs can be seen as conflicting objectives in decision-making processes (i.e., while a larger staircase area positively affect residents' climbing ability, it also causes higher energy consumption and material usage). Therefore, increased awareness of stair-project selection processes is required when multi-objective tasks are involved. Seven criteria affecting stair safety and sustainability in a single-family house are identified in this paper. The integrated AHP-MEREC criteria-weighting approach is proposed, to determine their weights in decision-making processes. Four different multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approaches, ARAS, SAW, TOPSIS and PROMETHEE, were used to determine alternative evaluations. Since the selection of the most suitable MCDM method is full of uncertainties, the novel combined-decision-making approach formally called CORST (COmbining MCDM appRoaches using method STability coefficient) is proposed in this paper. The new method stability coefficient is used to determine the stability and reliability of the specific MCDM approach. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods have gained increased attention in sustainable engineering, where complex decision-making problems require consideration of multiple criteria and stakeholder perspectives. This review paper provides a comprehensive overview of the different MCDM methods, their applications in sustainable engineering, and their strengths and weaknesses. The paper discusses the concept of sustainable engineering, its principles, and the different areas where MCDM methods have been applied, including energy, manufacturing, transportation, and environmental engineering. Case studies of real-world applications are presented and analyzed, highlighting the main findings and implications for engineering practice. Finally, the challenges and limitations of MCDM methods in sustainable engineering are discussed, and future research directions are proposed. An environmentally friendly and economically efficient forest road network is the key to sustainable forest management, and it is essential to evaluate the sustainability of an established forest road network and to optimize the forest road network based on sustainability criteria. This study proposes a sustainability evaluation method for forest road networks. The evaluation index system was constructed by selecting 12 indices from the social, economic, and ecological dimensions. To improve the credibility of the weighting of the evaluation indicators, the evaluation indicators were assigned subjective and objective weights by the analytic hierarchy process and the entropy weight method, respectively, and the game theory idea was used to comprehensively assign the weights. The study area was chosen to be the Taohuajiang State-Owned Forest Farm, which is a national forest park and is also an ecological public welfare forest. The development of the forest road network in the social, economic, and environmental dimensions was calculated by adopting the evaluation method proposed in this study, and the sustainability of the forest road network in each subdivision of the study area was determined, to provide a detailed theoretical basis for the management to carry out the upgrading of the sustainability of the forest road network. The results derived from the evaluation methodology show that the sustainable development of the forest road network in the study area is "excellent". At the same time, the level of sustainability of the forest road network in different areas of the study area was also evaluated. Finally, this paper puts forward policy recommendations for optimizing the sustainable development of forest road networks. This paper aims to form a concept of infrastructure management based on a multicriteria approach to determining management priorities. As the complexity of infrastructure construction and maintenance management requires looking at this problem from different aspects, the proposed multicriteria approach in this paper is based on the application of a two-phase analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method and technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method. Using the two-phase AHP method, the process of determining the relative weights of the criteria is improved with the aim of providing better management of stakeholders as one of the essential preconditions for the success of the entire management process. In this way, it is desired to simulate the decision-making process as realistically as possible, in which the opinions and interests of all stakeholders are respected, but the key decision-maker is responsible for the final decision. Furthermore, with the help of the TOPSIS method, a ranking list of maintenance management priorities is formed, based on which it is possible to distribute limited financial resources intended for annual maintenance more rationally. The stability of the TOPSIS results was confirmed by a sensitivity analysis when changing the relative weights of the criteria. The proposed allocation of financial resources represents the basis for a better design of the maintenance management plan of the analyzed infrastructure elements, thus completing the observed gap in the existing literature. The aim of the above is to improve the planning function and at the same time to improve the implementation, monitoring, and control management functions, which creates a more efficient management system that can preserve the value of the analyzed infrastructure elements and extend their lifetime. The traditional energy-saving evaluation method for industrial buildings is intended for all industrial buildings; however, substation buildings belong to a special category of industrial buildings, and their energy consumption characteristics are different from those of general industrial buildings. Consequently, it is necessary to establish an energy-saving evaluation system for substation buildings according to the characteristics of their energy consumption. In view of the issue that the energy consumption characteristics of substation buildings are different from those of other industrial buildings, an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) are used to establish a more comprehensive energy saving evaluation model that is more applicable to substation buildings. This paper determines 19 quantitative indicators and 13 qualitative indicators through the screening of relevant standards and norms, as well as the literature, and then determines the weight of each indicator by using AHP before finally establishing a secondary evaluation model based on FCE. In this paper, a substation in Shandong, China was selected as a case study to verify the proposed evaluation model, scoring 80.4 points, which falls within the "Good" grade. This research aims to bridge a critical gap within the realm of logistics coordination, specifically targeted at bolstering the coordination of flows in omni-channels. The outcome of this study culminates in the creation of a comprehensive tool for evaluating logistics operators, discerning those who exhibit supreme proficiency in orchestrating network dynamics within omni-channel contexts. To fulfil the objectives of this paper and elucidate pertinent research inquiries, an exhaustive literature review is coupled with meticulous scrutiny of the SCOPUS database via the advanced VOSviewer 1.6.20 software. The research delineates an array of coordination mechanisms accessible to logistics operators, which can be judiciously tailored as a bespoke fusion of market-driven, social, hierarchical, and logistical coordination tactics. These mechanisms expand upon antecedent investigations, encompassing both network coordination paradigms and the pivotal role of logistics operators within omni-channel frameworks. Experts assessed that forecasting network flows is the most significant element in logistical coordination, receiving a weight of 0.1312, while managing network participants' resources from the logistics operator level received a weight of 0.1148. The purpose of this research paper is to present a framework for selecting a biogas plant for the Indian rural community, considering performability factors such as reliability, quality, maintainability, safety, and sustainability. This will ensure that the plant operates reliably, efficiently, and safely over its entire life cycle and can play a significant role as a decision-support tool for decision-makers (e.g., managers, engineers, stakeholders). The proposed framework integrates the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and the Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) to optimally evaluate and prioritize the best alternative based on performability factors. The findings show that the suitable biogas plant in the context of the Indian rural population is a fixed-dome-type plant. The decision-making process in selecting the best biogas plant can be effectively aided by using this suggested tool. Currently, there are no proper tools or methods for selecting biogas plants for rural areas due to a lack of data or relevant literature on operational issues. The proposed method uses performability factors for the selection, which has not been researched so far. Freeze–thaw (FT) erosion intensity may exhibit a future increasing trend with climate warming, humidification, and permafrost degradation in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP). The present study provides a reference for the prevention and control of FT erosion in the QTP, as well as for the protection and restoration of the regional ecological environment. FT erosion is the third major type of soil erosion after water and wind erosion. Although FT erosion is one of the major soil erosion types in cold regions, it has been studied relatively little in the past because of the complexity of several influencing factors and the involvement of shallow surface layers at certain depths. The QTP is an important ecological barrier area in China. However, this area is characterized by harsh climatic and fragile environmental conditions, as well as by frequent FT erosion events, making it necessary to conduct research on FT erosion. In this paper, a total of 11 meteorological, vegetation, topographic, geomorphological, and geological factors were selected and assigned analytic hierarchy process (AHP)-based weights to evaluate the FT erosion intensity in the QTP using a comprehensive evaluation index method. In addition, the single effects of the selected influencing factors on the FT erosion intensity were further evaluated in this study. According to the obtained results, the total FT erosion area covered 1.61 × 106 km2, accounting for 61.33% of the total area of the QTP. The moderate and strong FT erosion intensity classes covered 6.19 × 105 km2, accounting for 38.37% of the total FT erosion area in the QTP. The results revealed substantial variations in the spatial distribution of the FT erosion intensity in the QTP. The integration of green building technology is currently regarded as a critical step towards a sustainable future because it is a means of attaining sustainable development. It takes skill to combine a sustainable ecosystem with comfortable living areas to create eco-friendly building designs. The use of modern technologies can also enhance traditional methods for developing greener structures and thereby help maintain sustainable built environments. This research paper is intended to develop a selection framework to evaluate three different structural floor systems for a high-rise office building in Alhasa, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The three structural floor systems are as follows: a two-way ribbed slab system, a post-tension slab system, and a hollow core slab system. The main selection criteria used for the investigation in this paper are as follows: initial cost, running costs (operating and maintenance costs), salvage value, self-structural weight, and the possibility of utilities passage. A questionnaire survey was designed to collect the opinions of experts (project managers) regarding the relative importance of the different selection criteria, and these were used to determine the most suitable structural system for the office building. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was the tool used to determine the weights of the different criteria, and it was applied in combination with an Eigenvector analysis. Another objective of the investigation was to determine the utility preference values of the selection criteria by employing the multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT) technique. The results showed that the most important criterion is utilities passage, which is followed by structural weight and then initial cost, salvage value, and running costs. From the results of this research, we conclude that the system with the highest total value is the post-tension slab system. The limitations of the study include the fact that it only investigated three concrete floor systems commonly used in office buildings in Saudi Arabia, and that it included only five selection criteria that were identified and evaluated by the experts. Coal mines' water inrush is one of the five major disasters that affect the safety of coal mine production. The assessment of coal mines' water inrush is a prerequisite for preventing and controlling coal mines' water inrush. To objectively and effectively evaluate the risk of water inrush in the coal seam roof and overcome the shortage of single assignment methods, two methods, the analytic hierarchy process and the entropy method, are used in this paper to determine each evaluation factor's subjective and objective consequences. Game theory is applied to obtain the combined weights of each influencing factor to make up for the lack of a single assignment method. Taking the roof of Coal Seam No. 7 in mining Areas I and II of Dananhu Coal Mine No. 7 as an example, six primary evaluation indexes are created to control water inrush in the coal seam roof. The comprehensive weights of each index is determined; a vulnerability index evaluation model is established; and the results of the water inrush risk zone in the coal seam roof of Dananhu Coal Mine No. 7 are obtained using the GIS spatial analysis function. The results show that the discriminatory effects of the zoning model have a high accuracy and can provide a reference basis for future coal seam mining control work in this mine. Biological retention facilities are widely used in the construction of new urban infrastructure because of the increasingly serious problems of urban waterlogging and rainwater pollution. At present, a common method to resolve these problems is to improve the treatment performance of these facilities to improve the soil filling layer. How to evaluate the comprehensive benefits of the improved soil filling layer is a problem that cannot be ignored. In this paper, data from seven groups of soil improvement schemes were collected through laboratory tests, and an evaluation method based on AHP-CRITIC was proposed. Firstly, the evaluation indexes of soil improvement in biological retention facilities were determined, and their subjective and objective weights were determined by the AHP method and CRITIC method, respectively, and the comprehensive weights were further calculated. A comprehensive evaluation model was established by the TOPSISI method. Finally, the AHP-CRITIC evaluation model determined that 10% zeolite-amended soil had the best comprehensive evaluation effect, followed by 20% zeolite-amended soil and 10% gravel-amended soil. The results show that the evaluation model can comprehensively assess the benefits of soil improvement in bioretention facilities from the levels of infiltration, purification, and economy and can then select the optimal program for use in actual engineering practice. The concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridge has achieved significant development in recent years due to its unique mechanical performance and technical advantages. However, due to the lagging theoretical research compared to engineering practice, many problems have been exposed in the existing bridges, resulting in adverse social impacts and enormous economic losses. With the increasing prominence of safety issues in CFST arch bridges, it is necessary to assess their safety condition in service. This paper establishes a safety assessment index system for CFST arch bridges using the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) based on an exponential scale. The assessment method proposed includes the following main points: (1) Bridge safety assessment is closely related to the load-bearing capacity of components. This study proposes an assessment index that comprehensively considers both the defect conditions and the design load-bearing capacity of components for the safety assessment. (2) The exponential scale method is introduced to safety assessment for the first time, and the AHP based on an exponential scale is applied to calculate the component weights. (3) Considering the specific structural characteristics of CFST arch bridges, this study provides a detailed division of component types and calculates the component weights. By combining the component assessment indexes, a comprehensive safety assessment index system is established, and a safety assessment method for CFST arch bridges is proposed. (4) Taking the Jiantiao Bridge in Zhejiang Province as an engineering case, the load-bearing capacity of components is calculated using finite element software ANSYS 19.1. Based on the established safety assessment index system, the safety of the bridge is assessed by integrating the inspection results. Industrial symbiosis (IS) can contribute to achieving a win-win situation between industry and environment for local and regional circular economies. Many authors have recognized that a variety of barriers can hinder the implementation of IS. However, there is very limited research on quantitatively evaluating the IS barriers. In this paper, we propose a model which combines the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to evaluate the IS barriers semi-quantitatively. This model assists in identifying and prioritizing the fundamental barriers for implementation of IS in a comprehensive manner. An operating IS, the Hai Hua Group (HHG), in Shandong Province, China is used as a case study to test the proposed model. The results show that the top four generic barriers are technological barriers, economic barriers, safety barriers, and informational barriers. More specifically, the barriers are information platforms, human safety and health, technology involved with extending industrial chains, product added value, and costs. Coarse aggregate in concrete is basically free from sulfate corrosion. If the influence of the coarse aggregate in the concrete is not eliminated, the change amount of the concrete ultrasonic pulse velocity value is directly used to evaluate the damage degree of sulfate corrosion in the concrete, and the results are often inaccurate. This paper presents an evaluation method of corrosion damage for the sulfate-attacked concrete by CT, ultrasonic velocity testing and AHP methods. CT was used to extract the coarse aggregate information in the specimen, and the proportion of coarse aggregate on the ultrasonic test line was calculated based on CT image analysis. Then, the correction value of ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) of the concrete structure was calculated, and the sulfate corrosion degree of concrete structure was evaluated using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results show that the evaluation method proposed in this paper could more accurately evaluate the corrosion damage in the sulfate-attacked concrete structures, and the evaluation results were more in line with reality. Currently, worldwide attention to clean energy and sustainable energy has been expedited because of its many environmental benefits. In fact, wind and solar energies play a prime role in decarbonizing the energy market. However, finding the most suitable locations for wind/solar power plants is difficult because of the non-homogeneous distribution of these sources. This paper presents a novel method for selecting the optimal locations for wind and solar farms by mapping the space of the decision criteria to the site score. In addition, the multiple linear regression model was used, with the help of the combination of GIS and AHP methods, to model the siting of wind and solar power plants. The site scoring method used in this study is reliable and globally evaluated; therefore, the scores are accurate and effective. To reveal the ability of the proposed method, two study areas were investigated and researched. The results achieved based on the introduced method showed that, in case study 1, areas with an area of about 9, 4 and 7 km2 are suitable for the construction of wind, solar and wind/solar power plants, respectively. This paper also used fourteen existing wind/solar, wind and solar farms from five continents around the world. The results showed that the suggested model acts the same as the real data. In addition to the interest these results hold for the development of renewable energy in the study area, this novel approach may be applied elsewhere to select optimum sites for wind, solar, and combined wind and solar farms. Considering that moorings and anchorages for vessels have recently become an important factor in nautical tourism, the selection of their locations is a complex and demanding process. This paper examines numerous criteria from different perspectives to determine the most favourable/optimal locations for nautical anchorages, meeting the conditions and recommendations of professionals from several domains, by applying the methods of multi-criteria analysis. The goal of solving the problem this way is to meet the expectations of future users, spatial planners, possible investors, and concessionaires interested in doing business in these areas, as well as entities that strive to preserve and protect marine and underwater animal life and the environment by preventing their degradation and pollution. However, since there are no precisely defined recommendations for the establishment of nautical anchorages, in the procedures for determining the locations of nautical anchorages, it is possible to use general criteria they must fulfil. The best locations for nautical anchorages may be found, and this research represents a transparent, repeatable, and well-documented approach for methodically solving the problem. This is demonstrated by a comparison of many methods of multi-criteria analysis, utilizing a variety of parameters. On the other side, this calls for proficiency in a wide range of disciplines, including architecture, geodesy, marine safety and transport, architecture, biology, ecology, mathematical programming, operational research, information technology, environmental protection, and others. The best locations for nautical anchorages should be chosen based on the size and number of vessels, available space, depth, distance from the coast, level of protection of the anchorage waters, and many other limiting factors, keeping in mind that the spots which simultaneously satisfy a greater number of significant criteria are preferable. Using multi-criteria analysis methods (AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and TOPSIS (The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution)), evaluating and classifying criteria as well as assigning weight values to selected criteria, this paper investigates the possibility of obtaining the best locations from a group of possible ones. The most important factor when applying multi-criteria analysis methods refer to the following: vessel safety (navigation), hydrometeorological, spatial, economic, and environmental criteria. Because of their significant energy consumption and its economic and environmental impacts, existing buildings offer decision makers opportunities and challenges at the same time. In fact, there is a worldwide effort to improve the energy performance of the existing buildings as well as the new ones to achieve zero-energy buildings. In this paper, a framework for retrofitting existing buildings to help achieve the goal of zero-energy buildings is presented. The framework details the different steps required to develop and implement a successful retrofitting plan for both residential and commercial buildings. This includes data collection, life cycle cost calculation, building simulation, and multi-criteria decision making using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). At the end of the paper, a case study is detailed to show the different steps necessary to select a successful retrofitting plan that reflects the decision maker's objectives. Merapi is an active volcano in the Sleman District with eruptions occurring periodically. However, the time and the power of the eruptions of Merapi could not be predicted accurately. Therefore, considering the dense population around the peak of Mount Merapi, appropriate and fast handling is needed when an eruption occurs. One of the crucial parts to be handled is the availability of evacuation places for the affected population. Even though Sleman district already has contingency and evacuation plans, the existing contingency and evacuation plans cannot necessarily be implemented, as in the case of the 2010 eruption. The locations planned as the shelters based on the contingency and evacuation plans of 2009 are no longer safe, including the permanent shelters owned by Sleman Regency. Thus, in the 2010 eruption, the refugees had to be evacuated to other safe places. Hence, some additional locations planned to be temporary refuges or shelters are needed to anticipate the change in eruption patterns in the future. This paper aims to provide a model to determine suitable temporary shelter locations that meet several criteria, which include constraints (exclusionary criteria) and factors (evaluation criteria). The criteria in this study were defined based on a literature review, interviews, and a questionnaire survey on experts who have experience in the field of disasters, especially in the eruption of Mount Merapi. Constraint criteria are used to determine the candidates for shelters, i.e., the locations that are possible to be used as shelters. Potential shelters will be selected from the candidates that meet the factor criteria using geographic information system (GIS), fuzzy logic, multi-criteria decision making (analytical hierarchy process (AHP), and weighted linear combination (WLC)). The implementation of the model in the 2010 eruption case shows that the refugees experienced moving to a safe place three times during the evacuation, within a safe radius of 10, 15, and 20 km due to the increase in the power of the eruption. In this paper, therefore, the potential temporary shelters will be designed at a safe radius of 10, 15, and 20 km. The development of a sustainability-based assessment method considering the environmental and economic impacts is crucial to realize viable manufacturing. However, few studies have addressed environmental economics and social flows using a common perspective. Mechanical machining is one of the most-used manufacturing techniques. The overall ecological, economic, and social footprint requires accurate and effective estimation and optimization. Several studies have addressed this issue by examining the entire process of machining, but sustainability flows for machining parameters and toolpaths have remained relatively unexplored. The lack of systematic assistance tools bridging the gap between decision-maker preferences and the three sustainability pillars—economic, social, and environmental—has impeded the widespread adoption of sustainable machining practices. To this end, this paper proposes an integrated approach to the decision-making problem that combines the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE) for selecting a sustainable machining strategy. The sustainability criteria are driven by manufacturing process parameters commonly employed and regulated during the manufacturing phase. This includes toolpath strategies as a qualitative input factor and manufacturing parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut, and stepover as quantitative input factors, affirming the practical applicability of the method in industrial contexts. New fundamental methods are also presented for selecting the most efficient machining parameters and toolpaths according to the weights assigned to each ecological, social, and economic footprint by the decision-maker (the manufacturer or production manager). In this way, sustainable machining strategies in the manufacturing industry will be strengthened in integrity. Wildfire susceptibility mapping (WSM) plays a crucial role in identifying areas with heightened vulnerability to forest fires, allowing for proactive measures in fire prevention, management, and resource allocation, ultimately leading to more effective fire control and mitigation strategies. This paper describes our undertaking to develop and compare the performance of two knowledge-based models, namely the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), as well as two novel genetic algorithm (GA)-based ensemble data-driven models: boosting and random subspace. The objective was to map susceptibility to forest fires in the Northern Mazar District in Jordan. The ensemble models were constructed using four well-known classifiers: decision tree (DT), support vector machine (SVM), k-nearest neighbors (kNN), and naive Bayes (NB) algorithms. This study utilized seventy forest fire locations and twelve influential factors to build and evaluate the models. To identify the optimal features for constructing the data-driven models, a GA-based wrapper method and four machine learning models were applied. During the validation phase, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROCC) values for the single SVM, single NB, single DT, single kNN, GA-based boosting, GA-based random subspace, FR-AHP, and AHP-TOPSIS models were found to be 85.3%, 85.9%, 73.8%, 88.7%, 95.0%, 95.0%, 74.0%, and 65.4% respectively. The results indicated that the GA-based ensemble models outperformed both the single machine learning models and the knowledge-based techniques in terms of performance. The developed models in this study can be effectively utilized in various management and decision-making processes aimed at mitigating forest fire risks and enhancing fire control strategies. A comprehensive evaluation model that combines an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method and the improved version of the Criteria Importance Through Inter-criteria Correlation (CRITIC) method is proposed to solve integrated assessment problems related to the service status of groins in waterways. In view of the influencing factors and functional characteristics of damaged groins for waterway regulation, a waterway groin service status (WGSS) evaluation index system with a hierarchical structure was constructed using target-criteria elements. Additionally, based on the multi-attribute characteristics of the indicators, standards for rating and assigning values to elemental indicators were developed. Considering that traditional empowerment methods are rather one-sided and limited, an AHP-improved CRITIC method combination assigning optimization model was established based on the least squares principle, and the optimal combination weights were solved by the Lagrange multiplier method. The reliability and applicability of the model were tested by successfully applying the evaluation model to the comprehensive evaluation of the service status of spur dikes in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The results showed that the combined weights that were calculated by the AHP and the improved CRITIC optimization model were able to reflect both subjective and objective information, which makes up for the shortcomings of a single assignment method, and the weights assigned to the service status evaluation indexes for groins were reasonable. The comprehensive evaluation method to determine the service status of groins proposed in this paper was more accurate than the traditional evaluation method with subjective assignment and provided a scientific basis for decision making to maintain the sustainability of groin function. Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) has received a great deal of attention in recent years due to the relationship between worker comfort and productivity. Many academics have studied IEQ from both a building design and an IEQ assessment perspective. This latter line of research has mostly used direct eliciting to obtain weights assigned to IEQ categories such as thermal comfort, visual comfort, acoustic comfort, and indoor air quality. We found only one application of indirect eliciting in the literature. Such indirect eliciting operates without the need for imprecise direct weighing and requires only comfort evaluations, which is in line with the Industry 5.0 paradigm of individual, dynamic, and integrated IEQ evaluation. In this paper, we use a case study to compare the only indirect eliciting model already applied to IEQ, based on TOPSIS, to an indirect eliciting method based on PROMETHEE and to a classical direct eliciting method (AHP). Because a single monitoring index cannot fully reflect the overall operating status of the hydropower unit, a comprehensive state evaluation model for hydropower units based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the Gaussian threshold improved fuzzy evaluation is proposed. First, the unit equipment was divided into a hierarchical system, and a three-tier structure system (target layer-project layer-index layer) of the unit was constructed, and the weight of each component in the system was determined by the comprehensive weighting method. Secondly, according to the characteristics of the normal distribution of the historical health data of the unit, the upper and lower limits of the index were determined based on the Gaussian threshold principle, the real-time monitoring index degradation degree was calculated according to the index limit, and the degradation degree was applied to the fuzzy evaluation model to obtain the fuzzy judgment matrix. The result of assessment was divided into four sections: good, qualified, vigilant, and abnormal. Finally, combined with the unit hierarchical structure system, the weighted calculation of the fuzzy judgment matrix of each indicator, the overall fuzzy judgment matrix of the upper-level indicators of the unit was obtained, and the operating status of the unit was judged according to the matrix. Taking a real power plant unit as an example, the model was verified, and compared with other evaluation methods, the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method were verified. Make-to-order (MTO) is becoming vital for meeting ever-changing customer requirements. Growing demand for customized items has been linked to a rise in the proportion of MTO businesses. Urbanization is a global trend that is expected to continue, and by 2025, it is estimated that almost 60% of the world's children will live in urban areas. Urban community pocket parks provide a solution to the need for parks in high-density urban communities due to their flexible location, small size, and patchy distribution. This paper aims to examine and optimize the construction of urban community pocket parks from a child's perspective to encourage children's participation in these parks. The first step was to conduct a literature review to identify key evaluation indicators for assessing the child-friendliness of pocket parks. Then, the AHP-entropy TOPSIS approach was used to establish an indicator system to effectively evaluate the child-friendliness of pocket parks in urban communities. The system included physical space, cognitive ability, emotional development, environmental perception, and social interaction. Finally, suggestions for optimization were made based on the weighting of influencing factors. The results show that freedom of movement (6.2%) significantly affects the child-friendliness ratings of community pocket parks. Additionally, Hefei residents are not sufficiently influenced by the diversity of play (2.29%) and play facility planning (2.58%) in pocket parks. Therefore, consideration should be given to focusing on the degree of nature adaptation in park construction and renewal projects, as well as understanding children's perception of nature. Multicriteria methods have gained traction in academia and industry practices for effective decision-making. This systematic review investigates and presents an overview of multi-criteria approaches research conducted over forty-four years. The Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases were searched for papers on multi-criteria methods with titles, abstracts, keywords, and articles from January 1977 to 29 April 2022. Using the R Bibliometrix tool, the bibliographic data was evaluated. According to this bibliometric analysis, in 131 countries over the past forty-four years, 33,201 authors have written 23,494 documents on multi-criteria methods. This area's scientific output increases by 14.18 percent every year. China has the highest percentage of publications at 18.50 percent, followed by India at 10.62 percent and Iran at 7.75 percent. Islamic Azad University has the most publications with 504, followed by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University with 456 and the National Institute of Technology with 336. Expert Systems with Applications, Sustainability, and the Journal of Cleaner Production are the top journals, accounting for over 4.67 percent of all indexed works. In addition, E. Zavadskas and J. Wang have the most papers in the multi-criteria approaches sector. AHP, followed by TOPSIS, VIKOR, PROMETHEE, and ANP, is the most popular multi-criteria decision-making method among the ten nations with the most publications in this field. Management of nonurban road network maintenance is a complex management process that requires the inclusion of many technical, economic, and other characteristics of the problem, as well as the continuous application of new knowledge and approaches, to maintenance management. To effectively manage the maintenance of the road network in conditions of limited financial resources, maintenance is examined through three interrelated management functions of planning: implementation, monitoring, and maintenance control. This paper includes an analysis of current and relevant papers on this topic. Based on the conducted analysis, the paper gives a theoretical framework and proposes a management model for road network maintenance between urban areas. This model supports the previously mentioned management functions using Multicriteria Decision-Making Methods. The AHP method and the TOPSIS method are engaged in the process of generating a priority road maintenance plan and Earned Value Analysis in maintenance monitoring and control. The AHP method is used to determine the criteria weight vector as a key role in defining the rank of alternatives and in identifying the optimal maintenance rank of nonurban roads using the TOPSIS method. When it comes to analyzing cruise port performance, port operators have a challenging task because there are no widely accepted or well-known procedures for evaluating cruise port performance. Any performance measures used by port authorities are rough and only offer an approximation of the terminal's operational performance. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to present a multi-criteria assessment model to assist port authorities in evaluating cruise port performance from a multidisciplinary perspective. We investigated the compatibility and utility of combining the AHP and TOPSIS methods in a proposed MCDA model for assessing cruise port performance. The AHP method was used to provide the weights of port performance indicators, and the TOPSIS method was used to assess the port performance and to create a rank list of ports. A case study involving four Mediterranean cruise ports, Barcelona, Piraeus, Civitavecchia, and Marseille, was used to show the model's application. The case study results reveal that the safety–environmental aspect is the most important aspect in assessing cruise port performance. We compared the proposed model to a state-of-the-art paper and discovered that our model can successfully cope with various multi-criteria models for port performance assessment. This paper introduces and further applies an approach to support the decision makers in construction projects differentiating among a variety of deep excavation supporting systems (DESSs). These kinds of problems include dealing with uncertainty in data, multi-criteria affecting the decision, and multi-alternatives to select one from them. The proposed approach combines the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with the fuzzy technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (fuzzy TOPSIS) in a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) model. The MCDM model emphasize the ability to combine expert knowledge, cost calculations, and laboratory test results for soil properties to achieve the scope. The model proved it had a superior ability to deal with the complexity and vague data that are related to construction projects. Furthermore, it was applied to a real case study for a governmental housing project in Egypt. Secant pile walls, sheet pile walls, and soldier piles and lagging are selected and studied as being the most common DESSs and as they satisfy the project requirements. The model utilized four criteria and fourteen comparing factors, including site characteristics, safety, cost, and environmental impacts. Based on the results of the model application on the investigated case study, a decision was reached that using secant piles as a supporting system in this project is mostly preferred. The oil and gas (O&G) field is the most sought-after industry in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCCs) and holds significant importance in the region's economy. Therefore, this sector requires various industrial electrical, and electronics equipment (EEE) products to perform multiple tasks throughout the upstream, downstream, and midstream segments. However, as these EEE products approach their end of life (EoL), the sector faces the challenge of managing failed units. As a result, replacing or recycling failed EEE products can contribute to the growing problem of electronic waste (e-waste), which can have severe environmental consequences. In addition, while some EEE products can be repaired or remanufactured with low reliability, many others cannot be fixed due to various technical reasons. This paper's primary goal is to propose a circular economy strategy and sustainable practices that promote the longevity of industrial EoL electronic products in the O&G sector through remanufacturing. We introduced and implemented a new mathematical score, the Index Of Repairability (IOR), which aims to assess the ease of EEE repairability in the O&G sector and improve their lifespan and durability based on four criteria: design, spare parts availability, software access, and documentation. This novel mathematical metric leverages the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and set theory. Additionally, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can adopt and benefit from this innovative IOR by incorporating eco-design principles and designing more easily repairable industrial products for technicians, thereby reducing the negative impact of e-waste, enhancing stakeholder satisfaction, and minimizing downtime. The aim of this paper is to assess the extent to which the Sad-Kalan watershed in Iran participates in floods and rank the Sad-Kalan sub-watersheds in terms of flooding potential by utilizing multi-criteria decision-making approaches. We employed the entropy of a drainage network, stream power index (SPI), slope, topographic control index (TCI), and compactness coefficient (Cc) in this investigation. After forming a decision matrix with 25 possibilities (sub-watersheds) and 5 evaluation indices, we used four MCDM approaches, including the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), best–worst method (BWM), interval rough numbers AHP (IRNAHP), picture fuzzy with AHP (PF-AHP), and picture fuzzy with linear assignment model (PF-LAM, hereafter PICALAM) algorithms, to rank the sub-watersheds. The study results demonstrated that PICALAM exhibited superior performance compared to the other methods due to its consideration of both local and global weights for each criterion. Additionally, among the methods used (AHP, BWM, and IRNAHP) that showed similar performances in ranking the sub-watersheds, the BWM method proved to be more time-efficient in the ranking process. The building sector is widely acknowledged as a driving force behind national prosperity. However, there are considerable challenges to the construction industry's transition to sustainable practices, including regarding building information modelling (BIM) technologies. The United Arab Emirates has made significant progress in the Middle East in adopting BIM technologies. Green building approaches have been advanced through their incorporation into environmentally conscious building practices, with a large body of literature responding to this issue. Several projects in the United Arab Emirates have, however, made use of the complementary nature of BIM and UAE sustainable policies. However, not everybody has employed the full potential of BIM implementation in sustainable construction. This paper aims to identify and prioritize the critical success factors (CSFs) for effective BIM implementation as a sustainable construction practice in the UAE and examine their ranking and relationships. A list of critical success factors was gathered from a review of previous literature to identify the essential factors for successful implementation. A standardized questionnaire was distributed to consulting organizations and engineering enterprises to verify the existence of these CSFs and measure their importance in the context of the UAE's construction industry. The survey data was analyzed using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique to elaborate and validate the results, which was specifically applicable to the needs of this study. The results from the AHP analysis show that the social aspects were ranked as the highest critical success factor compared to the other criteria, namely economic, environmental, and information technology. Within this criterion, it was found that effective communication among stakeholders is the most important element, as subject matter experts feel that it is imperative to have buy-in from all or most of the construction project stakeholders to achieve the strategic goal of implementing BIM. Agricultural and forest ecosystems provide multiple ecosystem services (ESs) fundamental to the well-being and quality of life of citizens. However, in the European context, these ecosystems are often threatened by processes of urban development, around cities, or abandonment, in mountainous or remote areas. Faced with the need for solutions oriented towards greater sustainability and resilience of socio-ecological systems, planning should contribute to rebuilding more integrated and mutually beneficial relationships between urban and rural areas, ensuring the effective production of multiple ESs. The regulation and management of ESs are complex and require scientifically sound and widely understandable policies and governance models, based on detailed assessment methods. This paper proposes a method for mapping and bundling the supply of five ESs produced in agricultural and forest areas, based on the processing of open source territorial data through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and tailored for the Tuscany region (Italy). The method integrates the land use and land cover map with other data to obtain a comprehensive ESs assessment, and then uses cluster analysis to identify bundles of ESs. Metrics are a set of numbers that are used to obtain information about the operation of a process or system. In our case, metrics are used to assess the level of information security of information and communication infrastructure facilities. Metrics in the field of information security are used to quantify the possibility of damage due to unauthorized hacking of an information system, which make it possible to assess the cyber sustainability of the system. The purpose of the paper is to improve information security metrics using multicriteria decision–making methods (MCDM). This is achieved by proposing aggregated information security metrics and evaluating the effectiveness of their application. Classical information security metrics consist of one size or one variable. We obtained the total value by adding at least two different metrics and evaluating the weighting factors that determine their importance. This is what we call aggregated or multicriteria metrics of information security. Consequently, MCDM methods are applied to compile aggregated metrics of information security. These are derived from expert judgement and are proposed for the three management domains of the ISO/IEC 27001 information security standard. The proposed methods for improving cyber sustainability metrics are also relevant to information security metrics. Using AHP, WASPAS and Fuzzy TOPSIS methods to solve the problem, the weights of classical metrics are calculated and three aggregated metrics are proposed. As a result, to confirm the fulfilment of the task of improving information security metrics, a verification experiment is conducted, during which aggregated and classical information security metrics are compared. This paper aimed to map areas prone to flooding in the Wadi Hanifah drainage basin located in the Riyadh region, and identify the most important factors that contribute to flooding through examining the influence of ten topographical, hydrological, and environmental variables affecting flood occurrence. Remote sensing data from Landsat-8, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), and other ancillary datasets were used to map relevant variables. Two weighted overlay techniques were used, including: analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and weighted product model (WPM). A correlation matrix and optimum index factor (OIF) were employed to identify the relative importance of each factor. The two derived flood susceptibility maps were assessed through validation by comparing the locations of historical flood events to susceptibility zones. The results confirmed the validity of the WPM map. The results also showed that nearly 50% of the study area was dominated by the "moderate" flood susceptibility zone, while about 33% of the total land area was classified as a "high" flood susceptibility zone. The "slope" factor was found to be the most effective variable for flood occurrence, followed by the "geology" variable, while the "distance to the drainage network" was the least important variable. The results of the OIF indicated that the best combination of factors dictating the variability of all flood susceptibility areas were "geology", "land use/cover (LULC)", and "soil type". The study findings are expected to be useful in understanding the effects of each factor on the spatial variation in flood occurrence and in improving flood control, and can be reapplied to other regions with similar climatic and environmental conditions worldwide. In the literature, the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) methodology recommends determining the priority of incident resolution based on the impact and urgency of interactions. The RFID model, based on the parameters of Recency, Frequency, Importance and Duration in the resolution of incidents, provides an individual assessment and a clustering of customers based on these factors. We can improve the traditional concept of waiting queues for customer service management by using a procedure that adds to the evaluation provided by RFID such additional factors as Impact, Urgency and Emotional character of each interaction. If we also include aspects such as Waiting Time and Contact Center Workload, we have a procedure that allows prioritizing interactions between the customer and the Contact Center dynamically and in real time. In this paper we propose to apply a model of unification of heterogeneous information in 2-tuple linguistic evaluations, to obtain a global evaluation of each interaction by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and in this way be able to have a dynamic process of prioritization of interactions. The Internet's meteoric rise in popularity has led to the growing importance of the quality of online services in numerous industries, including the rapidly expanding tourism industry. Accordingly, this study aims to ascertain the leading attributes of selected travel websites based on sustainable e-service quality. This study was conducted in four phases. In phase I, the key drivers of sustainable e-service quality (SESQ) were identified from a literature review and expert opinions and then categorized and validated using the EFA technique based on the responses of 100 respondents in phase II. Phase III was performed to determine the priority weightage of the identified and validated SESQ drivers using AHP, whereas in phase IV, the five most popular travel websites in India were ranked based on the SESQ drivers using the TOPSIS method. A case study is presented in this paper to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed framework. Finally, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to determine the robustness of the results. The findings of the study revealed that security, hedonic value, and efficiency were the most important drivers of SESQ that influenced customers' selection of travel websites, and makemytrip.com was the most preferred travel website by customers. Coal mining can create a variety of environmental, ecological, and land-use problems. Subsidence areas resulting from coal mining are a common and particularly difficult problem to manage. Despite much discussion in the academic literature as well as among local and international stakeholders, there is neither a uniform standard nor a universally accepted approach for selecting an appropriate governance model for a subsidence area. In particular, the lack of quantitative evaluation methods and excessive subjectivity represent key obstacles to the effective selection of governance models for subsidence areas. This paper proposes a selection framework for a coal mining subsidence governance model that integrates the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy weight method (EWM). The model comprehensively considers the settlement characteristics of the subsidence area, its geographic location, the water index, as well as the vegetation index. These variables are used as indicators to develop an evaluation framework upon which different subsidence zones can be quantitatively analyzed. The selection framework is demonstrated using examples from three subsidence areas in the Huainan and Huaibei mining areas in China, for which relevant data were collected and processed with the help of field surveys, remote sensing images, and subsidence prediction software. Applying the novel selection framework, the most suitable governance model for each subsidence area was obtained and determined to be consistent with the recommendations of an academic panel composed of multiple experts. The novel selection framework has high efficacy and potential to overcome the problem of subjectivity in the selection of governance models for coal mining subsidence areas. It is also envisaged that future incorporation of the selection framework into a user-friendly software package will significantly improve the efficiency with which suitable governance models for coal mining subsidence areas are selected. The performances of construction supervisors are essential for the monitoring, control, and coordination of the construction process of a project in order to adhere to a predefined schedule, cost, quality and other factors. However, it is challenging to evaluate their performance due to limitations such as data deficiency, human error, etc. Thus, this paper proposes an approach to data-driven quantitative performance evaluation of construction supervisors by integrating an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and activity tracking. The proposed approach contains three parts, namely, index extraction, weighting, data-driven index calculation, and then validation by case study. Firstly, performance indexes were developed based on a literature review as well as surveys and function analysis of the information system for construction supervision (CSI system). Then, the weights of and relationships among of the indexes are determined by AHP. After that, with daily workflow and inspection activities tracked in the CSI system, a method and a software module for automatic calculation of indexes were developed. Lastly, the proposed approach was validated by a real-world case. The result showed that the proposed approach can quantify the performance of a construction supervisor systematically and automatically, which shed lights on how to evaluate the performance of a worker based on the tracking of daily activities. Honeybees and hive products have long been recognized as excellent bio-indicators, as they provide valuable information on the state of the environments concerned. As yet, however, no tool is capable of contextually assessing the level of pollution of different environmental matrices in order to create maps of areas in which to place hives. In this paper, a possible method of creating a regional map to support the implementation of targeted monitoring plans on beekeeping is described. We obtained and identified related-activity pressure factors, which were subsequently combined by means of a multi-criteria approach through the analytic hierarchy process method (AHP). The different levels used were drawn up by first attributing qualitative values; these were converted into quantitative values through scoring elaborations and pair comparisons and then elaborated and standardized by means of different techniques in order to create an index with a spatial distribution of five risk classes throughout the region. To verify the correct execution of the procedure, a consistency ratio method was implemented on this index and validated the reliability of the application as the main source of information for sampling activities on beekeeping products. Creation of the specific environmental risk index enabled us to construct a map displaying the areas of greatest impact on beekeeping activities and a representation of the cumulative effects generated by the different pollutants in the air, water, soil and subsoil compartments. This paper presents and illustrates planned urban projects in the Al-Baha region with the potential to contribute to developing a sustainable local environment and economy in alignment with Saudi Arabia's 2030 national vision and future needs. Al-Baha is characterized by a wealth of renewable energy, a cooler environment relative to many other Saudi regions, as well as multiple heritage villages and wildlife habitats set amid mountainous topography. The approach used here is the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), which employs an expert consultation analysis to identify the best future projects for the Al-Baha region. About 52 experts were invited, each selected according to specific criteria to include decision-makers, developers, and academics in the fields of the built environment, engineering, and investment. The findings of the study are evaluated and culminate in suggestions for future projects in the tourism; renewable energy; agriculture and farming; health and education; and wildlife and forest protection sectors. It has been found that the most important future projects are those related to the tourism and agricultural and farming sectors. The other projects proposed are unique to the Al-Baha region due to its location and traditions. The study concludes with key recommendations for developers and decision-makers. Ecological agriculture projects have achieved a growing development in the context of low carbon. However, because of the great difference in these issues from traditional types, there exist risks in progression quality and sustainability. To better identify the risk, this paper proposes a novel hybrid approach that integrates the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS), as well as an improved support vector machine (SVM) based on the brainstorming algorithm (BSO). First, a risk evaluation index framework is developed and elaborated in terms of the natural environment, society, market economy, management, technology, and finance. Then the traditional assessment can be derived from AHP with TOPSIS. In addition, BSO is applied to improve SVM for rapid computation. Finally, a case study is implemented to verify the accuracy of the proposed technique. In this research, based on the low-carbon perspective, artificial intelligence algorithm and risk assessment are introduced into the field of ecological agriculture project management, which is conducive to the rapid and effective evaluation of ecological agriculture project risk. It can improve managers' risk awareness and risk management ability, reduce investment blindness, and help ecological agriculture projects achieve healthy and sustainable development under the background of low carbon, thus contributing to the development of a low-carbon economy. Spatial and traffic planning is important in order to achieve a quality, safe, functional, and integrated urban environment. Different tools and expert models were developed that are aimed at a more objective view of the consequences of reconstruction in different spatial and temporal ranges while respecting selection criteria. In this paper we analyze the application of the multi-criteria analysis method when choosing sustainable traffic solutions in the center of a small town, in this case Beliš´ce, Croatia. The goal of this paper is to examine the possibility of improving the methodology for selecting an optimal spatial–traffic solution by combining the quantifiable results of the traffic microsimulation and the method of multi-criteria optimization. Socially sensitive design should include psychological and social evaluation criteria that are included in this paper as qualitative spatial–urban criteria. In the optimization process, different stakeholder groups (experts, students, and citizens) were actively involved in evaluating the importance of selected criteria. The analysis of stakeholders’ survey results showed statistically significant differences in criteria preference among three groups. The AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) multi-criteria analysis method was used; a total of five criteria groups (functional, safety, economic, environmental, and spatial–urban) were developed, which contain 21 criteria and 7 sub-criteria; and the weights of criteria groups were varied based on stakeholders’ preferences. The application of the developed methodology enabled the selection of an optimal solution for the improvement of traffic conditions in a small city with the potential to also be applied to other types of traffic–spatial problems and assure sustainable traffic planning. Flood hazards resulting from short-term severe precipitation have caused serious social and economic losses and have posed extraordinary threats to the safety of lives and property. Vulnerability, which reflects the degree of the adverse impact of flooding on a city, the sensitivity of the environment, and the extent to which rescues are possible during flooding, is one of the significant factors of the disaster risk assessment. Because of this, this paper proposes an Environmental Vulnerability Analysis Model (EVAM), based on comprehensively evaluating multi-source remote sensing data. The EVAM includes a two-stage, short-term flood vulnerability assessment. In the first stage, the flood's areal extension and land-use classification are extracted, based on the U-NET++ network, using multi-source satellite remote sensing images. The results from the first stage are used in the second stage of vulnerability assessment. In the second stage, combining multi-source data with associated feature extraction results establishes the Exposure–Sensitivity–Adaptive capacity framework. The short-term flood vulnerability index is leveraged through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the entropy method is calculated for an environmental vulnerability evaluation. This novel proposed framework for short-term flood vulnerability evaluation is demonstrated for the Henan Province. The experimental results show that the proportion of vulnerable cities in the Henan Province ranging from high to low is 22.22%, 22.22%, 38.89%, and 16.67%, respectively. The relevant conclusions can provide a scientific basis for regional flood control and risk management as well as corresponding data support for post-disaster reconstruction in disaster regions. Comparing portfolio performance is complex due to the fact that each model is dominant in its own risk space. Since there is no single dominant performance measure, the research problem is how to incorporate several different measures into a performance evaluation model that allows portfolios to be ranked. In this regard, the objective of this study was to develop a new comprehensive method for comparing portfolio performance based on multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM). This paper proposes an integrated approach for stock market decision making that combines the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE), which allow hierarchical evaluation of a finite number of alternatives according to different criteria. This hybrid approach is especially advantageous, utilizing the strengths of both individual methods. AHP enables the decomposition of a complex problem into its constituent parts and the determination of weights for criteria, while the PROMETHEE method allows the investor to determine the preference function, complete ranking, and analysis of the robustness of the results. For the MCDM model in this study, different dimensions of performance measures are considered criteria: return measures, risk measures, stability measures, and predictability measures. The methodology has been applied in comparing real portfolios selected on the basis of different risk measures. For this purpose, weekly return data were used for a sample of stocks that are components of the STOXX Europe 600 Index for the period 2000–2020. In addition, a sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the strength of the results of this method. It suggests that the simultaneous consideration of different performance measures and the investor's attitude towards the importance of these measures are notably important in the portfolio efficiency estimation process. Understanding factors that influence trade-offs between agricultural expansion and forest conservation is important in managing competing land-use objectives. This paper applies elements of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to distinct farming business ownership models in Zambia to gain insights into factors that agricultural land managers take into account when considering land-use trade-off decisions which involve agricultural expansion into natural habitats. Results showed that the market domain was weighted above other domains, followed by the financial domain. When environmental considerations were pitted against other factors such as markets and finance, agricultural land managers were likely to trade off environmental concerns. Furthermore, availability of input subsidies via the agricultural Food Input Support Programme (FISP) influenced the decision to expand, particularly for the small-scale ownership model. This suggests that agricultural policies and strategies aimed at promoting agricultural productivity may require accompanying measures to safeguard forest ecosystems from agricultural expansion. Key differences in the factors influencing expansion decisions were evident among ownership models suggesting that ownership types do have an impact on factors considered. This highlights the need to advance tailored strategies that address differences in priorities and decision making emanating from variations in farming business ownership models. This paper presents a systematic and sustainable approach to nonurban road network maintenance management based on the integration of multicriteria decision-making methods and methods of monitoring and control in the service of planning, implementation and monitoring and control as the basic management processes. This approach is based on the developed maintenance management model for nonurban road network, which consists of a weighting sub-model based on the AHP method, a priority road ranking sub-model based on TOPSIS method and a monitoring and control sub-model based on the combination of TOPSIS and Earned Value Analysis (EVA). The described model with all its supporting sub-models is tested on the case study of the regional road network of Herzegovina-Neretva County. The analysis of the obtained results shows the effectiveness of the presented approach to road maintenance management and the possibility of its practical application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
