Simple Summary: Euterpe oleracea Mart. is a palm tree native to the Amazon region, commonly found in humid areas such as floodplains. With the increasing demand for its fruit, the cultivation of this palm has expanded to upland areas, requiring high investments in irrigation. This study assessed the ability of bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of açaí palms from both floodplain and upland areas, during dry and rainy seasons, to promote plant growth, especially under drought conditions. In total, 177 rhizobacteria were isolated. Among these were strains capable of producing the phytohormone indole acetic acid, synthesizing the enzyme ACC deaminase, solubilizing and mineralizing phosphates, and producing siderophores, among other characteristics. The majority of isolated strains (88%) inhibited the growth of phytopathogenic fungi Curvularia and Colletotrichum. Two strains, Bacillus proteolyticus and Priestia aryabhattai, were inoculated into açaí seeds and increased the speed and percentage of germination under conditions with either sufficient water supply or induced drought. Thus, these strains showed potential for use as biofertilizers and could contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. Demand for the fruit in national and international markets is increasing; however, climate change and diseases such as anthracnose, caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp., lead to decreased production. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of açaí rhizobacteria in promoting plant growth (PGPR). Rhizospheric soil samples from floodplain and upland açaí plantations were collected during rainy and dry seasons. Bacterial strains were isolated using the serial dilution method, and subsequent assays evaluated their ability to promote plant growth. Soil analyses indicated that the sampling period influenced the physicochemical properties of both areas, with increases observed during winter for most soil components like organic matter and C/N ratio. A total of 177 bacterial strains were isolated from rhizospheres of açaí trees cultivated in floodplain and upland areas across dry and rainy seasons. Among these strains, 24% produced IAA, 18% synthesized ACC deaminase, 11% mineralized organic phosphate, and 9% solubilized inorganic phosphate, among other characteristics. Interestingly, 88% inhibited the growth of phytopathogenic fungi of the genera Curvularia and Colletotrichum. Analysis under simulated water stress using Polyethylene Glycol 6000 revealed that 23% of the strains exhibited tolerance. Two strains were identified as Bacillus proteolyticus (PP218346) and Priestia aryabhattai (PP218347). Inoculation with these strains increased the speed and percentage of açaí seed germination. When inoculated in consortium, 85% of seeds germinated under severe stress, compared to only 10% in the control treatment. Due to their extraordinary qualities, including fire resistance, excellent crashworthiness, low thermal conductivity, permeability, non-toxicity, and reduced density, cellular materials have found extensive use in various engineering applications. This study uses a finite element analysis (FEA) to model the dynamic compressive behaviour of agglomerated cork to ascertain how its material density and stress relaxation behaviour are related. Adding the Mullins effect into the constitutive modelling of impact tests, its rebound phase and subsequent second impact were further examined and simulated. Quasi-static and dynamic compression tests were used to evaluate the mechanical properties of three distinct agglomerated cork composite samples to feed the numerical model. According to the results, agglomerated cork has a significant capacity for elastic rebound, especially under dynamic strain rates, with minimal permanent deformation. For instance, the minimum value of its bounce-back energy is 11.8% of the initial kinetic energy, and its maximum permanent plastic deformation is less than 10%. The material's model simulation adequately depicts the agglomerated cork's response to initial and follow-up impacts by accurately reproducing the material's dynamic compressive behaviour. In terms of innovation, this work stands out since it tackles the rebounding phenomena, which was not previously investigated in this group's prior publication, either numerically or experimentally. This study aimed (a) to evaluate the spatiotemporal gait variables of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) before (pre-) and after the procedure (post-), and (b) to investigate the influence of the surgical side on these variables. Twenty-one volunteers (13 females and 8 males) participated, undergoing assessments pre-surgery and nine to 12 months post-surgery. Clinical tests indicated significant reductions in knee pain and improvements in active and passive extension post-surgery. TKA resulted in decreased pain, extension deficits, and functional assessments, with lower scores on the WOMAC questionnaire. A gait analysis showed post-surgery improvements in gait speed (5.8%), cycle time (−4.8%), step time (4.4%), double limb support time (−11.1%), step (4.4%) and stride (6.3%) lengths, and step (5.1%) and stride (5.0%) cadences. Comparisons between surgical side and limb dominance indicated significant differences in gait speed, stance, swing and step times, double limb support time, step and stride lengths, and step cadence. The non-dominant limb demonstrated greater improvements across most parameters compared to the dominant limb. These findings emphasize the importance of considering the limb dominance of patients with knee osteoarthritis when evaluating post-TKA function. Assessment of muscle tone in a clinical setting is important for the physiotherapist to better analyse and establish appropriate treatments for CNS disorders. This study aims to review and summarise how to assess changes in tone in the context of adult rehabilitation. Secondarily, this study aimed to identify the central nervous system disorders, the respective variable/concept under study, and the testing procedures employed. PRISMA-ScR guidelines were followed using the "population", "concept", and "context" to define the eligibility criteria and to delineate the research question. PubMed®, Science Direct®, Web of Science™, and Google Scholar® databases were used to search the literature. The search included studies published between 2011 and March 2023 in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish that assessed an adult population (>19 years) with CNS injury. Review articles, qualitative studies, conference proceedings, letters to the editor, and editorials were excluded. Initially, 1519 references were identified, of which eight met the eligibility criteria. The measurement instruments included the Modified Ashworth Scale (n = 5), the Modified Modified Ashworth Scale (n = 3), the BioTone™ system (n = 2), the Montreal Spasticity Measurement (n = 1), and the Tone Evaluation Scale (n = 1). The health conditions considered included stroke sequelae (n = 7), multiple sclerosis (n = 4), spinal cord injuries (n = 4), cerebral palsy (n = 2), brain tumour (n = 2), and traumatic brain injuries (n = 3). The concepts of spasticity (n = 7) and muscle tone (n = 2) were explored. Considering the variables spasticity and muscle tone in different CNS disorders, mainly stroke, subjective instruments were preferred compared to objective ones, with the Modified Ashworth Scale being highlighted. Varronia curassavica Jacq. is an aromatic species appertaining to the Boraginaceae family and has been mentioned for its numerous traditional uses and pharmacological properties, especially its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of the present study was to investigate the phytochemical profile and antifungal activities of the essential oils of V. curassavica, in addition to analyzing the ADMET properties of the majority components. The GC-MS analysis of V. curassavica essential oil (EOVC) comprised 97.36% of total composition, with α-pinene, β-caryophyllene, and bicyclogermacrene (44.46%, 22.87%, and 13.05%, respectively) as the main constituents among other minor/trace constituents. The antifungal activity of EOVC was evaluated against three Candida species and was observed with IC50 > 200 μg/mL. Remarkably, the combination of EOVC with fluconazole significantly reduced the IC50 required for the drug to inhibit C. tropicalis (0.003 μg/mL), C. albicans (0.7996 μg/mL), and C. krusei (17.73 μg/mL). In addition, ADME/Tox studies using α-pinene revealed that the compound poses no toxicity threats but requires caution due to its high permeability to the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Selenium (Se) is a nutrient whose daily intake is often below the recommended levels in people. Biofortification with Se is a method to increase this intake by raising the Se concentration in tomato fruits, an effect dependent on sources and modes of application. Additionally, Se application can promote the enhancement of other compounds in tomato fruits, altering their metabolism, which may increase the fruit's shelf life. This study aimed to determine how different strategies of applying a multi-nutrient fertilizer containing Se (SeMNF) can increase the Se content and other bioactive compounds and enhance the shelf life of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) fruits. Different foliar fertilization strategies involving the use of SeMNF were evaluated in field trials conducted on commercial tomato crops. Indeterminate-growth tomatoes were used, and different Se doses and application strategies were tested. Harvesting was conducted in three phases according to fruit ripening. Each harvested fruit was assessed for the Se content, macro and micronutrients, total phenolic compounds, vitamin C, antioxidant activity, carotenoids, pH, total titratable acidity, and total soluble solids in tomato fruits. Doses of 15 g ha−1 of Se, split into three applications, increased the Se content in the fruits at 1 and 2 harvests. The application of SeMNF at Se doses above 10 g of Se ha−1 increased firmness, days of ripening, and the nutritional quality of the tomatoes (higher contents of carotenoids (+39%), lycopene (+33%), antioxidant activity (+16%), total phenolic compounds (+38%), and vitamin C (+14%) in a dose-dependent effect of the application strategy used. Background: Due to their high toxicity, cancer treatments produce multiple sequelae, including fatigue, which has a great impact on quality of life. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy on quality of life, fatigue, and functional capacity of a short-term exercise program combining aerobic exercise, resistance training, and stretching for 6 weeks in cancer patients. Methods: The design of the study was quasi-experimental, which included a group of 30 women who were receiving or had received in the last year chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or hormonal treatment. The exercise supervised program with vigorous intensity lasted for six weeks and consisted of three distinct blocks: aerobic exercise (25 min), resistance training (20 min), and stretching exercises (15 min). Before and after starting the exercise program quality of life (EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire), functional capacity [6 min Walking Test (6MWT), Handgrip Test (HGT), 30-Second Sit-to-Stand Test (30s-STST)], and fatigue (FACIT-F questionnaire) were measured. Results: In the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire significantly higher scores were observed in the global health status scale (p < 0.05), as well as in the functional scale in the role functioning, emotional functioning, and cognitive functioning items (p < 0.05), indicating a higher quality of life and overall health level. There was also a reduction in fatigue (p < 0.05), obtaining higher scores on the FACIT-F questionnaire after the exercise program. Additionally significant improvements are observed in 6MWT, HGT, and 30s-STST following the implementation of the exercise program (p < 0.05). Conclusions: A 6-week exercise protocol, with a vigorous intensity, including resistance training, endurance, and stretching exercises can produce significant improvements in quality of life and reduction in fatigue, as well as improve muscle strength and functional capacity. The objective was to evaluate the agronomic and production characteristics and the quality of forage sorghum for silage production, using a moisture-retaining polymer (MRP) in the soil during the agricultural off-season. To assess the agronomic characteristics of the forage sorghum, four treatments were used, represented by the MRP hydration intervals (Control, 0, 5, and 10 days) and four replications. The qualitative characteristics of the silage were evaluated in a 4 × 2 factorial scheme, and the same MRP hydration intervals were used for the agronomic assessment, with and without the concentrate mixture at the time of ensiling, both in a randomized block design. There were differences (p < 0.05) for all morphological variables, agronomic variables, and weight constituents of forage sorghum. There was an interaction effect (p < 0.05) between the MRP hydration intervals and the concentrate mixture at the time of ensiling for gas losses, silage dry matter recovery, and ether extract. There was an effect (p < 0.05) due to the addition of the concentrate mixture at the time of ensiling for in vitro dry matter digestibility and total digestible nutrients. When using MRP at planting and the concentrate mixture at the time of forage sorghum ensiling, a hydration interval of every 5 days is recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

(1) Background: Portomesenteric Venous Thrombosis (PMVT) is a rare but serious complication of Metabolic Bariatric Surgery (MBS). Although more frequently reported after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), the risk factors for PMVT remain unclear. This study aims to compare the incidence and determinants of PMVT between LSG and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB). (2) Methods: A retrospective analysis of 5235 MBSs conducted at our institution between 2015 and 2023 identified five cases of PMVT. Additionally, a systematic review in March 2023, covering PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus, was performed. Several data were analyzed regarding risk factors. (3) Results: In our case series, the incidence of PMVT was 0.1%. The five cases described involved four females with a BMI between 39.7 and 56.0 kg/m2. Their comorbidities were associated with metabolic syndrome, all women used oral contraceptive and two patients were diagnosed with thrombophilia or pulmonary embolism. Per protocol, thromboprophylaxis was administered to all patients. Diagnosis was made at a median of 16 days post-surgery, with abdominal pain being the main presenting symptom. Acute cases were managed with enoxaparin, unfractionated heparin and fibrinolysis. One patient required surgery. Ten studies were included in the systematic review and 205 patients with PMVT were identified: 193 (94.1%) post-LSG and 12 post-LRYGB. The most common comorbidities were dyslipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea and liver disorders; (4) Conclusions: PMVT is a potentially life-threatening complication after MBS, requiring preventive measures, timely diagnosis and several treatments. Leishmaniasis is a group of infectious diseases transmitted to humans during vector bites and caused by protozoans of the genus Leishmania. Conventional therapies face challenges due to their serious side effects, prompting research into new anti-leishmania agents. In this context, we investigated the effectiveness of morolic acid, a pentacyclic triterpene, on L. amazonensis promastigotes and amastigotes. The present study employed the MTT assay, cytokine analysis using optEIATM kits, an H2DCFDA test, and nitric oxide dosage involving nitrite production and Griess reagent. Morolic acid inhibited promastigote and axenic amastigote growth forms at IC50 values of 1.13 µM and 2.74 µM, respectively. For cytotoxicity to macrophages and VERO cells, morolic acid obtained respective CC50 values of 68.61 µM and 82.94 µM. The compound causes damage to the parasite membrane, leading to cellular leakage. In the infection assay, there was a decrease in parasite load, resulting in a CI50 of 2.56 µM. This effect was associated with immunomodulatory activity, altering macrophage structural and cellular parasite elimination mechanisms. In this work, novel nanocomposite films based on babassu coconut mesocarp and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs), synthesized by a green route, were produced for application as food packaging films. The films were prepared using the casting method containing different contents of ZnO NPs (0 wt%, 0.1 wt%, 0.5 wt%, and 1.0 wt%). The films were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), instrumental color analysis, and optical properties. The water vapor permeability (WVP) and tensile strength of films were also determined. The antimicrobial activity of the films against cooked turkey ham samples contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus was investigated. The results showed that incorporating ZnO NPs into babassu mesocarp matrices influenced the structure of the biopolymer chains and the color of the films. The BM/ZnO-0.5 film (0.5 wt% ZnO NPs) showed better thermal, mechanical, and WVP properties. Furthermore, the synergistic effect of babassu mesocarp and ZnO NPs in the BM/ZnO-0.5 film improved the antimicrobial properties of the material, reducing the microbial count of S. aureus in cooked turkey ham samples stored under refrigeration for 7 days. The challenges experienced in the context of the pandemic have required a significant reconciliation between work and family domains due to confinement and the need to spend more time at home, which may have increased the levels of stress, anxiety, and depression, making it necessary to use resilient coping strategies to overcome the difficulties felt. This study examined the effect of resilient coping on the relationship between work-family conflict and stress, anxiety, and depression in this context. Data were collected using a self-report protocol from a sample of Portuguese workers (N = 476). The results indicated that work-family conflict was positively associated with stress, anxiety, and depression. Resilient coping established a negative relationship with stress, anxiety, and depression. The moderation effect was not corroborated; it was found that in the presence of the moderating variable (resilient coping), the relationship between the variables of work-family conflict and stress, anxiety, and depression was strengthened. Obesity is a worldwide epidemic, and bariatric surgery is considered the primary treatment for long-term weight loss and managing obesity-related health issues. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) are the most performed procedures. Nutritional deficiencies are a significant concern following bariatric surgery and can have serious consequences. This study aims to compare the incidence of nutritional deficiencies in patients undergoing RYGB and SG. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the nutritional status of 505 consecutive patients who underwent either RYGB or SG between January and December 2019. Data were collected regarding vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin D, calcium, PTH, magnesium, hemoglobin, iron, ferritin, and transferrin at preoperative, 6-month, and 12-month intervals post-surgery. The RYGB group showed significantly higher excess weight loss. Vitamin B12, hemoglobin, and ferritin levels were consistently higher in the SG group throughout the study. Vitamin D deficiency was prevalent, with no significant difference between the groups. Vitamin B12 deficiency was significantly more common in the RYGB group (6 months: 17.46% vs. 4.69%, p < 0.001; 12 months: 16.74% vs. 0.93%, p < 0.001). Despite differences in their mechanisms, bariatric surgeries were associated with nutritional deficiencies. Nitrogen fertilization can provide greater nutritional support and mitigate salt stress in the millet crop. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological responses and agronomic performance of millet crop subjected to nitrogen fertilization and irrigation water salinity. The study was carried out in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized design in a 5 × 2 factorial scheme, with four replications, with five doses of nitrogen (40; 60; 80; 100 and 120 kg ha−1 of N), and two levels of electrical conductivity for the irrigation water: 0.3 and 4.0 dS m−1. We concluded that salt stress increased leaf sodium levels and had a negative impact on stalk and panicle dry mass, leaf gas exchange, mineral element concentrations (K, P, and Ca), and water use efficiency. The use of lower-salinity water associated with increased nitrogen fertilization provides greater stalk and panicle dry mass, photosynthesis, water use efficiency, chlorophyll index, leaf potassium concentration, and biomass production. The adverse effects of salt stress were evident in decreased transpiration and stomatal conductance, alongside reductions in leaf phosphorus and calcium levels, coupled with elevated leaf sodium concentrations, particularly as nitrogen fertilization rates increased in potted millet plants. These findings offer insights for devising strategies aimed at mitigating the detrimental effects of salt stress on millet plant nutrition through targeted nitrogen fertilization approaches. Background: Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) is an emerging technique for delivering chemotherapy directly to the peritoneum via a pressurized aerosol. Its growing attention stems from its effectiveness in treating peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) originating from various primary tumors, with gastric cancer (GC) being among the most prevalent. This study aimed to systematically investigate PIPAC's therapeutic role in gastric cancer peritoneal metastasis (GCPM). Methods: The systematic review and meta-analysis followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, searching Pubmed, Web of Science, and SCOPUS databases. The meta-analysis of relative risks and mean differences compared patients undergoing one or two PIPAC sessions with those completing three or more, assessing various outcomes. Results: Eighteen studies underwent qualitative analysis, and four underwent quantitative analysis. Patients with three or more PIPAC procedures had shorter hospital stays (MD = −1.2; 95%CI (−1.9; −0.5); p < 0.001), higher rates of histopathological response (RR = 1.77, 95%CI 1.08; 2.90; p = 0.023), and significantly improved overall survival (MD = 6.0; 95%CI 4.2; 7.8; p < 0.001). Other outcomes showed no significant differences. Conclusions: PIPAC demonstrated efficacy in carefully selected patients, enhancing histopathologic response rates and overall survival without prolonging hospital stays. Candida species are frequently implicated in the development of both superficial and invasive fungal infections, which can impact vital organs. In the quest for novel strategies to combat fungal infections, there has been growing interest in exploring synthetic and semi-synthetic products, particularly chromone derivatives, renowned for their antimicrobial properties. In the analysis of the antifungal activity of the compound (E)-benzylidene-chroman-4-one against Candida, in silico and laboratory tests were performed to predict possible mechanisms of action pathways, and in vitro tests were performed to determine antifungal activity (MIC and MFC), to verify potential modes of action on the fungal cell membrane and wall, and to assess cytotoxicity in human keratinocytes. The tested compound exhibited predicted affinity for all fungal targets, with the highest predicted affinity observed for thymidylate synthase (−102.589 kJ/mol). MIC and CFM values ranged from 264.52 μM (62.5 μg/mL) to 4232.44 μM (1000 μg/mL). The antifungal effect likely occurs due to the action of the compound on the plasma membrane. Humidity and air temperature during the incubation period are essential elements for good embryonic development. Lighting is one of the main environmental elements in control of several physiological and behavioral processes of birds; therefore, it allows the establishment of rhythmicity, the synchronization of several indispensable functions of their body and the stimulation of secretion of several hormones related to growth, maturation and reproduction of birds. LED lamps can produce lights that change color, intensity and distribution, providing an environment closer to the natural one for birds, as it ensures better expression of their behavior. The use of artificial lighting during the incubation phase is a tool that has been studied with the aim of increasing the production rates and hatchability. Using this, this study aims to investigate the effects of the luminous incidence of white and red monochromatic light on the production and metabolism of broiler chicks subjected to low temperatures. A total of 315 eggs of Ross 708 heavy breeders were used. The eggs were distributed randomly, with 35 eggs per tray, totaling 105 eggs per incubator. The treatments were the following: incubation without the use of light; the use of white monochromatic light; and the use of red monochromatic light. The lamps used were of the LED type. The samples were distributed in the factorial completely randomized experimental design with position effect on the tray. Candling, egg weighing, calculating the probability of survival and egg weight loss were performed. Temperatures were recorded using a thermographic camera. At birth, three chicks per tray were euthanized for evaluation: weight with and without yolk residue, gastrointestinal tract biometry, and blood and liver biochemistry. Analyses were performed using the R computational program. It was observed that there was a significant effect of the treatments on the levels of calcium, phosphorus, cholesterol, amylase, glucose, urea and glutamate pyruvate transaminase on the biochemical profile of the blood and on the thermographic temperatures of the eggs; the experiment was kept at low temperatures resulting in thermal stress, with an average temperature of 34.5 °C. Therefore, the use of red and white monochromatic light in the artificial incubation process for brown-colored eggs is not recommended, because in the post-hatching phase, it promoted the metabolism dysregulation on the blood biochemical profile to control the differentiation in the wavelength of traditional incubation. Utilizing data from the Web of Science, the study identifies leading countries in WDED research and highlights a growing interest in the field, particularly in materials engineering. Stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and copper-based alloys are prominent materials for WDED applications. Furthermore, the study explores post-processing techniques such as machining, heat treatment, and surface finishing as integral steps for quality enhancement in WDED components. In Portugal, grapevine leaves are generally treated as agro-industrial waste, despite being rich in bioactive compounds that offer benefits to human health. This study compiles the most relevant and current data on the phytochemical composition and bioactive properties of grape leaves from both red and white varieties cultivated in the country. These by-products are abundant in flavonoid and non-flavonoid phenolic compounds, such as flavonols, derivatives of hydroxycinnamic acids, carotenoid pigments, and chlorophylls, as well as fatty acids, which have scientifically proven antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, cardio-, neuro- and hepatoprotective properties, among others. The combination of these beneficial properties, along with the low toxicity of their compounds, makes grapevine leaves a by-product with great potential for use in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The concealment of assets is a critical challenge in financial fraud and asset recovery investigations, posing significant obstacles for creditors and regulatory authorities. National governments commonly possess the necessary data for detecting and combating this type of fraud, typically related to personal data and asset ownership. However, this information is often dispersed across different departments within the same government and sometimes in databases shared by other countries. This leads to difficulty semantically integrating this large amount of data in various formats and correlating entities through identifying hidden relationships, which are essential in this type of analysis. In this regard, this work proposes an ontology to support the data integration process in the domain of asset concealment and recovery and fill the gap in the existence of a public ontology for this domain. The applicability of this ontology in the context of integration between data from different departments and countries was validated. The use of the ontology in a pilot project in the context of a tool for investigating this type of fraud was conducted with a Brazilian government agency, and the users validated its applicability. Finally, a new method for constructing ontologies is proposed. The proposed process was evaluated during the asset concealment ontology building and proved to be more suitable than the similar processes analyzed concerning the partial reuse of existing ontologies and the construction of ontologies for data with a transnational scope. This work presents the development of a magnetic levitation system with a ferrite core, designed for electromagnetic energy harvesting from mechanical vibrations. The system consists of a fixed enamel-coated copper coil and five neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets housed within a PVC spool. To enhance magnetic flux concentration, a manganese-zinc ferrite (Mn-Zn) ring was employed within the spool. Experimental tests were conducted at frequencies up to 20 Hz, demonstrating the device's potential for harvesting energy from small vibrations, such as those generated by human biomechanical movements, achieving operating voltages up to 3 V. Additionally, the architecture is scalable for larger systems and allows for the integration of multiple transducers without magnetic field interference, independent of the frequency or excitation phase of each transducer. Aging is a dynamic and progressive process characterized by the gradual accumulation of cellular damage. The continuous functional decline in the intrinsic capacity of living organisms to precisely regulate homeostasis leads to an increased susceptibility and vulnerability to diseases. Among the factors contributing to these changes, body composition—comprised of fat mass and lean mass deposits—plays a crucial role in the trajectory of a disability. Particularly, visceral and intermuscular fat deposits increase with aging and are associated with adverse health outcomes, having been linked to the pathogenesis of sarcopenia. Adipose tissue is involved in the secretion of bioactive factors that can ultimately mediate inter-organ pathology, including skeletal muscle pathology, through the induction of a pro-inflammatory profile such as a SASP, cellular senescence, and immunosenescence, among other events. Extensive research has shown that natural compounds have the ability to modulate the mechanisms associated with cellular senescence, in addition to exhibiting anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory potential, making them interesting strategies for promoting healthy aging. In this review, we will discuss how factors such as cellular senescence and the presence of a pro-inflammatory phenotype can negatively impact body composition and lead to the development of age-related diseases, as well as how the use of polyphenols can be a functional measure for restoring balance, maintaining tissue quality and composition, and promoting health. Dietary intervention is a subject of growing interest in the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), as new incident cases across the globe are rapidly rising, suggesting environmental factors as contributing elements. Dietary components and micronutrients have been associated with IBD pathogenesis or reductions in disease severity. Selenium, a diet-derived essential micronutrient that is important for proper immune system function, has received limited attention in the context of IBD. Selenium deficiency is a common finding in patients with IBD, but few clinical trials have been published to address the consequences of this deficiency. Here, we review the physiological and immunological roles of selenium and its putative role in IBD, and draw attention to knowledge gaps and unresolved issues, with the goal of stimulating more research on selenium in IBD. The consumer profile has undergone evolutions and transformations over the years due to the evolution of new generations of individuals, such as Generation Y. Social media has revolutionized the way in which consumers can search and find information about products in general, which has impacted how brands relate to their consumers. In this context, this study tries to understand how digital influencers are being used to influence Generation Y in the consumption of banking services from fintechs in Brazil via social media platforms. The specific objectives include profiling these consumers, identifying the most relevant influencers, and measuring the impact of influencer marketing. The results pointed to Generation Y's preference for mobile applications and personal recommendations when making decisions to purchase financial products. Fintechs stood out for the agility and autonomy they offered, as well as for being on the forefront in leading practices, innovations, and product offerings that drive sustainability forward. The study concluded that digital influencers play a crucial role in the awareness phase, but additional factors influence Millennial consumption decisions, highlighting the complexity of the decision process. Mass movements can be caused by factors from different categories, such as geological factors and climate change. From a geological point of view, the soil profile and the geotechnical properties of the materials are crucial in influencing slope instability. From a climate change perspective, rainfall intensity is one of the main triggers of mass movements. Studies related to rainfall infiltration focus on saturated slope zones; therefore, areas of slope stability with infiltration in the unsaturated zone present large gaps. The Brazilian government environmental diagnostics company, the Mineral Resources Research Company (CPRM), identified the municipality of Areia/PB as a danger zone. The region has landslides that occur mostly during the rainy season. Such events lead to the presumption that rainwater infiltration is responsible for the failure of the municipality's slopes. Thus, the studies proposed in this research aim to determine the influence of precipitation on the stability of the slopes present in the region. The results show that antecedent precipitation has a greater influence on stability, indicating that daily precipitation alone cannot be used as a determinant for landslides. It was concluded that the role of precipitation in slope stability will vary for different locations, with varying surface conditions, variable tropical rainfall, or different microclimatic conditions. This study offers an analysis of existing research on sustainability and its link to accounting and management control in the port sector. Existing studies do not provide a comprehensive discussion of management accounting and control tools in this context, despite recognizing the relevance of the topic. A scoping review was used as a methodological basis, with the aim of mapping the literature on the role of accounting and management control, as well as their relationship with the triple bottom line associated with the various levels of sustainability in this sector.
